Shiro Poporoya in Milan offers an authentic Japanese dining experience with a cozy atmosphere. The dishes are beautifully presented, my favorite one was the flavorful udon soup. The attention to detail in both the food and decor, featuring Japanese elements, adds to the charm. A perfect spot for those seeking traditional Japanese comfort food in Milan.

I’ve visited this restaurant many times over the years I’ve lived in Milan and definitely recommend it! The food is authentic Japanese and I would say it’s one of the best Japanese places you can find in Milan. The owners are very kind and welcoming. The quality of the ingredients are very good and I’ve enjoyed especially the gyoza and the Hokkaido-don (rice with fresh fish such as salmon, Ikura, scallops, squid on top). They recently renovated the entire restaurant giving it a wonderfully new and modern Japanese atmosphere. If you’re craving Japanese food I say this is the perfect place for authentic tasty dishes.

Each visit is a unique trip, the chef's experience and dedication is clearly put in each plate they serve. Sashimi is really good and fresh, unaghi (eel) is something you must try once in your lifetime and the wagyu nighiri is simply... Exceptional. Prices are not that high, given the freshness and quality, surely worth a visit for a nice lunch/dinner

'Shiro Poporoya' is a good and historical Japanese restaurant in Milan. Some people might even say it is the first one in Milan and one of few where the cook is allowed to cook fugu. It is a genuine Japanese restaurant, where you have the possibility to eat more special meals compared to a standard Japanese restaurant in Milan. Be aware it is pricy, but it is definitely worthwhile. Definitely advised!

Google
One of the best Japanese food i have ever tried. It tastes great, it's well presented, the portions are filling and the place is nowhere near pretentious or fancy, but warm, comfortable and totally enjoyable. The service is really friendly, but polite and scrupulous. Flawless.

Yelp
Delicious authentic Japanese restaurant. Small family owned restaurant with friendly outgoing staff who will ensure you have a wonderful time. We had the chirashi special and sushi, with a few extra pieces ordered at the end. We both really enjoyed the quality of the meal and will be back.

Yelp
My favorite japanese in town is Poporoya, same owners, right across the street. But it might not be ideal if you are a large group, if you have a set dinner time and if you don't want to be rushed out after you've eaten. So in these cases we just cross the street to dine at Shiro. Same ecellent quality and tastiness of dishes, more variety in the menu (ramen, shabu shabu, etc.) , nice portions and nice staff. The only con, prices are a bit higher than Poporoya's, but still not as high as many other fake japanese places in town.

Yelp
Walked in at 9pm tonight with my wife and my 21 month daughter, right off the bat the classy old ass Italian manage refused to seat us in and said the restaurant is full. A few mins we walked in again and said we wouldn't mind waiting, again that classy Italian man said they were full for the night. That was 9pm and they closed at 11pm. We left with no choice and we ordered take out, well of course, that classy old man took our orders in and said wait time is 30mins. So we were left out in the cold, standing outside to wait for our food and here came the interesting fact.....few groups of people came in after we were told the restaurant was full for the night, and guess what? They were each be seated within 5-10mins. And interestingly enough, one group is a couple with a stroller. We did not even show up with a stroller! Up to that point we knew it was straight up discrimination. I started a confrontation with that smiley cocky old ass outside the restaurant and he refused to let his Asian employee came out to understand the situation. The whole time I was asking why people got sit in but not us, he did not provide with an answer and obviously he just want us to leave. Shiro claimed they started in 1977 and I would not second guess why they are doing well here in Milan but obviously the service I received tonight did not match anything that I had experienced in Japan.
