I expected so much more from this hotel given the price of the rooms and the online description. My family if 5 spent 3 nights in Udaipur this month and stayed at this hotel. The hotel has so much unrealised potential. It is in a prime location with a rich history and beautiful surroundings in the City Palace complex in Udaipur. The staff and their service are exemplary. They are friendly, attentive and responsive. The electric buggy transfers are very helpful, especially after a long day walking. The buffet meals are tasty, fresh and ample and the pool and surrounds are lovely. There is even a full sized billiards table and squash court available for use by the guests.||What really lets this hotel down is the quality of the rooms. They are in desperate need of attention and renovation to bring them to the standard one would expect in a 5 star hotel. Our tour agent (Travel Sapphire) had to change our booking to this hotel from the other palace hotel at the last minute, due to the original hotel being booked out for a wedding. They booked a Palace room which is the entry level room at this hotel. The first rooms we were offered were very poor and in my opinion, should not even be offered in a 5 star hotel. I would not want to upload the photos I took as I don’t think they come close to reflecting how poor the quality of the rooms actually were.|| Fortunately, Travel Sapphire managed to get the hotel to offer us the same class of rooms with alternative available rooms on the first and second nights. These rooms were better, but still below the standard I would expect. ||Overall, the staff, service, food, historical significance and location brought this hotel up from a 1 star rating to my three stars but I would not recommend this hotel to others unless it undergoes a quality renovation.

This property truly exceeded our expectations. The website pictures don't do it justice. While it may not exude the grandeur of Oberoi or Taj Lake Palace, it offers a much more intimate setting with stunning design, capturing the essence of a royal palace at exceptional value. The rooms, are simpler and could be enhanced but probably what one would expect at this price point. Service was excellent, and the food was good, complementing the overall experience. Highly recommend Shiv Niwas for anyone seeking a regal yet intimate stay.

If you’re a tourist from abroad then I highly recommend this place to stay. Our few days here were a fabulous experience. We stayed in the Terrace Suite and it was spacious with 2 balconies. The room service was divine! Every item from the menu was superb. The room was cleaned every day while our stay and they would leave cute packages of chocolate for us. Their breakfast had a huge variety of India and continental food items and if something wasn’t there you could make special requests and the chefs would make it for you. Just a few blocks down was the City Palace which you could pay a small fee and get a tour guide to show you around. The only downside of this palace is the shops there were overly expensive. If you really want to buy stuff it’s better to go outside the palace otherwise you’re paying 3x more for the price of the items that you can get outside for cheaper.

I had an unforgettable stay at Shiv Niwas Palace Hotel! The location is unbeatable, offering breathtaking views of Lake Pichola and being within walking distance of many iconic Udaipur attractions. The customer service was exceptional – the staff went above and beyond to ensure every need was met with warmth and efficiency.||The on-site restaurant was another highlight, serving delicious meals with a variety of cuisines to choose from, all in a setting that perfectly complements the grandeur of the hotel. The hotel’s heritage ambiance is truly remarkable – staying here feels like stepping into a royal era, surrounded by intricate architecture and a regal atmosphere.||If you're looking for a luxurious and authentic Rajasthani experience, Shiv Niwas Palace is the perfect choice. Highly recommend!

The pictures on the website or TripAdvisor doesn't do justice to how beautiful this property is. I was skeptical when I booked it, but definitely surpassed my expectations. It is gated, so only folks who stay at the property are allowed inside. Very close to the main attractions and if you don't want to walk (e.g. if you have children) then take the complimentary buggy to places. The kids loved it. ||The rooms are not fancy and suffice for the stay. The views and architecture in the property are exceptional. Service was very good so would definitely recommend staying here.

As an event planner, this property gives royal feel and has less then 40 rooms here. Perfect place to arrange an intimate wedding with the touch of royalty. Front office staff is at their best game. You can have value for money experience here.

Live life like a king! ||Staying at Shiv Niwas Palace truly makes that phrase come to life. Experience the grandeur of staying in a palace and walking in the palace grounds. ||The service staff was also amazing especially in the restaurant. Kudos to Kuldeep, Pratap, Phinda, Ayan and Lalu Ram for making every meal feel like a king!

The experience was unbelievable. The food at the Paantya restaurant was simply brilliant, and made better with the hospitality of Lalu Ram and Kuldeep Singh. The murg shorba and the laal maas were exceptional. The room was spacious and modern, but retained its old world charm.
