Shiv Niwas Palace

A truly wonderful hotel to stay at, not just for its comfort but for the people who make the experience so special. Lovely view and great staff , Few staff here are highly experienced, senior, and incredibly professional, which reflects in the quality of service throughout the stay. I had the pleasure of interacting with LaluRam Ji, whose service was faster and more energetic than that of many young professionals. Watching him work was genuinely heart warming. During our conversation, he shared that he has been associated with the hotel for the past 37 years, and yet his dedication, enthusiasm, and sincerity felt as fresh as someone on their very first day at work. His excitement and pride in what he does were truly inspiring. He spoke with immense respect for Dr. Lakshyaraj Ji, the owner and the king, praising, values, and the way the hotel is run. More than anything, what stood out to me was the passion with which the senior staff work so gracefully, wholeheartedly, and with genuine love for their roles.

We had such a wonderful time at Shiv Niwas Palace during our short stay in the new year in 2026. Not only was the property absolutely lovely, our room was spectacular and had fantastic views of Lake Pichola, Jag Mandir, the Lake Palace and the surrounding Aravalli hills. The food was wonderful too and the service was par excellence! Sohan Lal, Ram Singh and Lalu Ram Ji were so friendly and hospitable, we felt totally at home. They catered to our every need without us even asking for anything specifically. I highly recommend the hotel, not just for its location, rooms and hospitality but also for the people who make up the spirit of the place. We will definitely visit again!

The service at this hotel was very good. We were not happy with our rooms but they went out of their way to accommodate us. The groups and setting within the palace are beautiful and the food at breakfast was fresh. They were happy to make anything on request. We didn't use the pool facilities but it looked welcoming.

The hotel is exceptionally beautiful especially the common areas such as the pool, restaurant and the terrace. The breakfast buffet and the services were really good. The massages at the spa were great too and reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and helpful. It's right next to the city palace so convenient if you want to visit the area around or take the ferry boat to the Jag mandir Island palace. Because it's situated right next to the city palace, the area is extremely busy, loud and touristy. I would not recommend this hotel if you're looking for a quiet get away. Some of the food and drinks were incredibly expensive. The palace double room itself is not worth the money as the room was very basic with no views at all and was getting a lot of noise because of its location.

I had an absolutely fantastic stay at Shiv Niwas while I visited Udaipur. Location was prime, as we were right next to the City Palace, and the grounds were heavily protected with security. Staff were incredibly courteous and kind, food at the hotel restaurant was superb, and the property was stunning and full of history.||Big shoutout to Kush and Rahul who made our stay comfortable and were incredibly attentive to our needs. We arrived before check-in time by a few hours and they kindly allowed us to relax in the spa area temporarily. Kush even took us on ad hoc tour of the grounds as well. ||Pro-tip: The Shiv Niwas team is able to organize tour guides and private drivers as needed, which helped with our trip planning. We got introduced to a fantastic tour guide through their help.||I would be incredibly happy to return to Shiv Niwas and wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking for a comfortable and beautiful stay in Udaipur.

Had a beautiful experience staying at the property. The palace gives you a true royal experience and the staff is extremely warm and caring. Food is true to its mark and great taste. Mr. Sohanlal took good care at the restaurant with his service. Beautiful views and relaxing stay. Must visit

Incredible experience. The rooms look a bit outdated online but they are really comfy and lovely. The location is hard to beat and our lakeview room at sunset was to die for. Also, the service was great all around.

We had am impromptu and delicious lunch at the restaurant at the beautiful Shiv Niwas. We were graciously waited on by Nirbhay Singh who gave us great food recommendations. A true gentleman, polite and attentive especially to our two kids who were impatient for food! Thank you so much (Sitara and Rohan, nani and parents). We had actually knocked on Taj Fateh but were quite rudely turned away and I m so glad that they did as we got to experience this special restaurant at Shiv Niwas.
