26 Best Airbnbs in the Caribbean | Condé Nast Traveler

"Indoor-outdoor living spaces are common in Caribbean villas, but not all of them overlook a powdery white sand beach and sparkling turquoise bay. This four-bedroom villa shoulders the mile-long Shoal Bay Beach, but that’s hardly its only selling point. Groups also flock here for its primo chef’s kitchen (complete with a professional gas range stove), formal indoor dining room and casual alfresco seating situation, tiled outdoor hot tub, and private swimming pool. Need a hand in planning your daily excursions? The property manager is happy to assist with car rentals, ferry and taxi reservations, hiring a nanny, or arranging water sports." - Ashlea Halpern

Nothing beats a Shoal Bay sunrise … except maybe a shoal bay sunset? Shoal Bay Villas- the perfect place in Anguilla for a relaxing stay. Gorgeous self contained villas with vibrant Caribbean colours, right on one of the most amazing beaches in the world! The Haskins family are the consummate hosts, going above and beyond to ensure the perfect stay. I recently celebrated my 40th birthday at Shoal Bay Villas and my family and friends cannot stop taking about how beautiful and how amazing everything was. Thanks, SBV for the most epic time!

Our stay at Shoal Bay Villas was beyond OUTSTANDING! I can't recommend this place enough. I took my girlfriend to Anguilla for her birthday, but it had to be postponed due to a tragedy in her family. We were able to take this trip on a later date and Rachel was a big part of that. She was extremely accommodating and supportive at all times. Have to give her full credit for that. Sometimes in adversity and hardship you get to see the best or the worst from people. Rachel was a true angel and for that we'll be forever grateful. Her place is true paradise, on an incredible location and with everything you need to spend the vacations of your dreams. Fully equipped kitchen, super comfortable bed, super spacious living room. The whole unit is very spacious and the view!! Don't get me started on that incredible view from our balcony. Having breakfast every morning on that balcony with that view makes you feel grateful to be alive. Thank you Rachel and Shoal Bay Villas for an incredible and memorable vacation. We will return!!

We just returned from another wonderful stay at Shoal Bay Villas! This trip was our first time staying in a first floor villa, and it was SO convenient! Our assigned palapa and chairs were maybe fifteen steps from our back door! ||We love all of the staff at SBV who are wonderfully helpful. Tish at the front desk was super helpful with every request. We rented a Corolla from Bay Rentals for the first time and were able to access the car right outside the airport. Rachel met us at check-in to complete the rental forms. ||Our villa, 4A, was in a perfect location. We were right off the gallery, close to the pool and parking lot. The sliding glass door to the patio was just steps away from the best beach we’ve seen anywhere in multiple island explorations. Every villa we’ve ever stayed in (and there have been quite a few) has been equipped with full kitchen utensils, dishes, pots and pans…everything you could possibly need! ||Security is visible around all of the property throughout the hours after the office closes, which made us feel very safe. There is a gym, a spa, laundry facilities, an ice machine, a lending library with various sunscreens above that guests have left for others, and a closet with pool noodles/floats, etc., to use on property. ||We only begin planning for our next trip to Shoal Bay Villas as soon as we unpack from every trip!!

We stayed at Shoal Bay Villas on Anguilla’s Shoal Bay East beach… and So Glad we did! Anguilla is a destination that people come back year over year. Many time repeat visitors told us they have stayed at several places and we found the best. The beach at Shoal Bay East is incredible, the pool is nice but you will probably spend most your time in the warm turquoise ocean, and good beach restaurants are a short walk away. See above for Shoal Bay East beach description and restaurants recommendations on the beach or a drive away.||Shoal Bay Villa loans snorkel gear and in a closet by the pool they have beach toys for the kids and ocean flotations. Pretty nice snorkeling is just out to the right on the far side of the close reef.||Shoal Bay Villas offers a variety of accommodations at different price levels - all air conditioned with covered balconies or patios and full kitchens equipped with a full-sized refrigerator, microwave, stove, blender, and coffee maker. We chose a one-bedroom villa closest to the ocean view. The view to the ocean was amazing and wonderful for sitting with a cocktail, having breakfast, or enjoying wonderful sunsets. The staff is very helpful with restaurant reservations and other suggestions to make your visit to Anguilla special. Get this: you are assigned your own private beach lounges with shade so no need to get up early and reserve a spot.||We decided to stay on what many return visitors we spoke to consider Anguilla’s most beautiful beach - Shoal Bay East voted one of the 'Top 10 beaches in the Caribbean' by USA Today. It definitely lives up to its reputation with a relaxed vibe and breathtaking warm crystal-clear turquoise ocean water, powder-like white sand beach with palm trees, and nice laid-back beach restaurants/bars on the beach. ||At sunset a whole other beauty appears sparking a discussion about which of the many good restaurants to have dinner. Wonderful!… Anguilla is what we aspire for in a Caribbean adventure!||Like most beaches in Anguilla, it is easy to find a quiet spot on Shoal Bay East beach. The beach has very gentle waves making it great for swimming and relaxing to the sound of gentle waves. It also has some of the best snorkeling on Anguilla along the nearby reefs on the east end of the beach accessed with a short swim from the shore. Shoal Bay East is a Caribbean paradise. ||Shoal Bay East Beach Restaurants: Very good Anguilla beachfront restaurants are located within a few minutes walking distance. Do not miss Madeariman open for lunch and dinner - wonderful location, food, and service. For lunch Ola’s Bar and Grill, Tropical Sunset, and Elodias are nice. For a truly Caribbean vibe join the fun and dancing with a painkiller rum drink and live reggae music on Sunday evenings at Gwen’s Reggae Bar and Grill. Located at the west end of Shoal Bay East beach, the upscale Zemi Beach House offers a wonderful breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was great to treat ourselves to their fantastic (and pricey) breakfast buffet. Dinner at Zemi Beach House’s 20 Knots laid back luxury beach restaurant was exceptional, well priced, and the lighting and music made it special (try the Caribbean mild curry and seafood dishes).||More good dinner options are located a short drive away from Shoal Bay East at Anguilla’s Island Harbour such as Ben’s Pit Stop for French food, Artisan for Italian, and you must treat yourself to the wonderful grilled lobster with your feet in the sand at Falcon’s Nest - amazing!||Anguilla is a relatively small Caribbean island but mighty in its offerings - stunning uncrowded soft sand beaches with breathtaking warm turquoise ocean water and gentle waves, great culinary scene with a variety of upscale restaurants as well as laid-back beach restaurants/bars, upscale accommodations with feet-in-the-sand laid-back luxury, low visitor numbers making it uncrowded, and English spoken everywhere. Also, what makes Anguilla exceptional is the genuinely friendly people who make you feel at home with wonderful hospitality. We have been fortunate to have visited 23 Caribbean islands and now consider Anguilla our favorite.

This was my second day at Shoal bay villas and this time we opted for the deluxe oceanfront, which was well worth the added expense. The place comes with a complete kitchen and the fact that you’re only steps away from the water, makes it very convenient. The cleaning staff does an excellent job Keeping everything sparkling and sand free! And it is on Shoal Bay East, which is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world also very convenient to so many restaurants right on the beach, which are within walking distance. You will find most of the people that stay there have been there many many times before It’s almost a sense of family.

This was our second trip and first time last April was so much better. Room is showing its age and staff was okay. Tried joking a little with them but way too serious. Being returning guests I thought they would be a little more responsive. The ocean was really nice for the first 5 days then the sargassum seaweed came in with a vengeance. We felt like we were back in Mexico again. Employees tried but could not get ahead of it. You could not walk the beach or go in the water. We know they cannot be responsible and luckily we could go to the other side of the island at rendezvous bay. I think twice was enough and will try other places in the Caribbean and Atlantic area. The other really big thing is the 13% GST tax and the automatic 10% tax at the hotel that is going up to 12%. When you go to restaurants you get hit with 15% gratuity and the GST tax. This adds up when you are here.

Shoal Bay Villa surpassed any expectations my wife and I had about it going in. If you’re seeking a relaxing spot directly on the water with sugar sandy beaches, tranquil sounds of palm trees and waves with minimal boats in your line of sight, then this is your destination. There are several restaurants nearby should you choose to visit those as well as grocery stores plus your room comes with an adequate kitchenette. Everyone was incredibly helpful. Dody, the housekeeper/groundscrew introduced himself to us and was very friendly and made sure our stay was comfortable. Isabel at the front desk kindly showed us where the complimentary snorkeling equipment was located. There is even an onsite rooster that does wake up calls. All in all we can’t recommend this place enough.
