Shokudoraku Ueno

Was here for a causal dinner on a weeknight. Grilled fish was good. Location is convenient nearby main streets at Ueno. May not be a great place with kids.

Our first experience with Japanese food, sake, and the restaurant’s atmosphere was great—we loved the vibe. There was also a waiter who spoke English and was kind and helpful. Plus, it was conveniently close to our hotel. Smoking is allowed there, though.

We were only in Tokyo for four days, we loved the food and atmosphere here so much we had dinner here twice. Both times we stayed for hours and the service was very fast.

Good food, waitress tried really nice to help us through the menu, although she was not able to speak in English, price is good

First time visited Tokyo, give me a very bad experience and unforgettable memories. We went to this restaurant.as we have kids and they arranged us to sit outside the restaurant. And the chair with cushion, make our pants and dresses all wet. We asked for the compensation and they just said we do not then walk off.. We were two tables, we forced to pay table services per person. We refused to have it but they sound like threaten us and forced to have it.. the table service without drink.. we are not order any drink and we drink our bottle water. They stopped my father and scolded my father must keep the water bottle. Staff was very rude and food not nice at all. Hope the board of tourism can look into it seriously

They made us to order one drink per person immediately when we entered but we have to wait another 10 minutes to order food. We were in a hurry to get on the train to the airport and the waitress said they could not prepare the food within 30 minutes. So we decided to pay the bill of the drinks but they charged us service charge of 10% and another few hundreds of yen per person in addition to the price of the drinks. It's okay to charge things if you have notified us before we ordered but the waitress never did. It's not a honest restaurant and totally not recommended.

We tried to take out food and they made us sit at the table to wait for it but did not even take our order for ten minutes after we told them what we wanted. Then we finally called someone over to get our order. At the end, they charged us 10% for sitting down and another 10% for something else with no explanation. I understand there can be charges in Japan for sitting down but they did not say upfront that they would charge us. Also, why 20% for one take out meal? We would have understood if they at least told us first what to expect. If you're a foreigner just don't expect good service. Or at least honest service.

Service is ok, but the food is a bit expensive for the quality it serves. I order japanese chicken skewers (5 didderent parts of chicken), some of them are not well cooked. It tastes raw and bad. I have tried this dish nearby and the quality is much more better with reasonable price. I don't recommend this place, unless you cannot find any seat and food nearby.
