"Cooling off with a Blue Hawaii Everything about the Blue Hawaii cocktail at the Shore Bird Restaurant says "tropical island paradise." The icy blue color of the blue curaçao is enough to cool any sunburnt skin down and providing for a relaxed mood to enjoy the sun's decent into the Pacific Ocean. The Shore Bird is a breezy outdoor restaurant where you can grill your own food, or simply sip on a beverage and enjoy pupus (appetizers)."

Awesome waiter Kash. Amazing view. Had to work for my food, haha, grill it yourself is a cool experience. Very relaxing and don't feel rushed. Got to enjoy very cold beer after dinner as the sun began to set.

Old lady at front door ignored us for a few minutes while we were looking at her, food was OK, but not great.

I had to leave a review after seeing several reviews that frankly don't make sense. I've been to the Shorebird 20+ times. Service is always impeccable. Salad bar, Chili, Potato Salad is great and Yes--: this is a grill your own Protein place. Which is what they tell you every time you get to the restaurant and meet the hostess. So for those that don't get it or don't listen, leave and don't leave a review! This place isn't for you, it's for the other million of people that come here every year. I highly recommend the any of the items to grill, but I usually get the Sirloin, which is a great cut and always tender. They have spices, sauces , etc to make it perfect. As I grill my perfect steak, looking out at beautiful Waikiki beach and the sunset, I also grill some pineapple from the salad bar, and make my own grilled garlic bread. Another tip- is to check out their website before you go as there is always a buy one entre, get one for 50% off. Cannot beat that! Great service, food and location!!! Must go if staying in Waikiki.

Arrived at 4:00pm, asked if I had a reservation, .. No..., there will be 30 minute wait, ... OK... 4:30pm seated, approximately 50 some tables in the dinning area, all empty, seated in the bar area. Grill your own system explained, server arrived at the table at 4:52pm. Roughly an hour after arrival we finally have drinks and the open, all-you-can-eat salad bar is offered. More like a pasta bar, ended up with lettuce, onions, cheese and dressing, no tomatoes, no cucumbers, no sunflower seeds, no ham or bacon, none of the things I have come to expect as standard on a salad bar, nothing else looked appetizing. Salad finished along with drink, 10 minutes later server arrives with steaks, bread and mushroom and onions (more like mushrooms, mushrooms, mushrooms and onion). Let's cook, grill area very hot, seasonings are plentiful, but right next to the grill so it is very hot and difficult to season properly. Cooking times were adequately explained so that the food came out properly cooked and the steaks were cooked just as we liked them, but they were a little tough and not seasoned very well. Blame the cook right, oh yeah, we didn't have one. Premium price and I have to do the work. 3 or 4 times while eating I reached for my drink, oh yeah it was empty before I finished the salad. 3/4 of the way through the meal I finally get a refill on my drink. During the meal massive amounts of smoke from the grill keep blowing through the restaurant, better hope you have no breathing problems. Also being seated in the bar area we were subjected to load music more attuned to drinking that fine dining. Finished the meal and it takes more than 10 minutes to get the check. Finally almost 2 hours after our first arrival we escape this nightmare of a place. If I ever return to this state, I will never return to this restaurant. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Google
Love this place, you get to cook your own meal and a great salad bar. Make sure to get the papaya dressing if you're coming here, its amazing. The views of the ocean here are great. We had the steaks, which were very good. Our server was good, and the food was tasty (we did grill it ourselves!) Would defiantly reccomend, one of my favourite restaurants in Waikiki.

Google
Went there twice, the food was good but overpriced for food you have to cook yourself. I think $75 for small steak, lobster, and kabob. The first night the wait staff was on top of giving us drinks, and the late night happy hour was nice to my wallet. The second night, the service was slow, and the waiter didn't know when or what was included in the happy hour and we had to refer him to the drink menu on the table. The kareoke hosts were friendly.

Jeffrey Silverman

Google
Expensive and you have/get to cook your own meat. However it's really hot and smoky by the grill, and the chefs end up telling you how to do it or doing it all for you. The meat was fine, but not great. The salad bar was pretty good though. The prices were way too high and the drinks were mediocre.

Google
Google maps does not really show it's location. It is right on the beach. There is a boardwalk area going in the opposite direction with the Army Museum at the corner. This restaurant is right on the beach where you walk in from the sand into an open air bar and restaurant. We were a bit rushed but enjoyed a fast steak from the grill. They bring you the cut of meat and you take it to the grill and cook it the way you like it under the supervision of one of the chefs. The waitress and matradee were very friendly and accommodating. We had quick service, good food, and a wonderful view without any reservations (not recommended). We almost missed this place and were going to eat at the nearby Subway when I happened to ask a fellow veteran at the outside bar. Google maps should have this place pop up whenever you are in the area.

Yelp
Our family had an amazing experience at Monkeypod Kitchen in Waikiki! Our server, Meghan, was stellar, above and beyond, and had the best personality!! The cuisine was phenomenal, from appetizers to dessert, and the Mai Tai's were exceptional! We had a great Oceanside table and a child friendly atmosphere! Thank you Team Monkeypod for making our vacation dining experience 5 star!!! We hope to visit again next time we travel to Oahu!

Yelp
Monkeypod was referred to us visitors for wonderful mai tais and the views (directly on the ocean). It's in one of the many Outrigger hotels in Waikiki, which isn't hard to find. It's just a little maze to get from the street to the restaurant entrance. It was a little late past dinner service so we were able to be immediately sat against the glass wall to take in the sunset/ evening ocean views. Our server Emily was the best - nice to chat with and genuinely seems like a cool human. She walked us thru the food and drink menu but 2 of us 3 musketeers were there just for drinks (Mai Tais). One got the fresh fish tacos since she hadn't eaten yet and they looked amazing (she said they were just that). The second round - my friends were feeling adventurous and each got a White Walker (gin, coconut drink) at her recommendation. that wasn't horrible (I got a sip), but I'm glad I got another Mai Tai. Chalk another reason why Emily is a cool human - she offered us a slice of the house rice breaker pie because she loved our vibes. You can't say no to homemade pie. If we were there longer probably would have returned just to sit in Emily's section and enjoy more of the menu and her good vibes.

Yelp
First time at Monkeypod kitchen in Waikiki! I have eaten at the original Monkeypod kitchen, but this location is much better!! See that review for further details. I know what you're thinking, it's located in Waikiki so you have to deal with additional headache of parking, but it was worth it. My husband and I came here for lunch and I had Pete's fish and chips and and he had the fresh caught fish tacos. We split the strawberry cream pie for dessert. The fish and chips were so good! The fish had a tempura batter which was light and not too thick. The fish was perfectly cooked and was moist and not dry at all! It came with a malt vinegar aïoli which hit the spot and the fries were crispy and tasty. Everything came out piping hot. My husband also enjoyed the fish tacos. Fish is super fresh. For dessert, we had the strawberry cream pie. It's mostly cream with a thin layer of strawberries over the top, but it was very refreshing and not too sweet. Perfect dessert to end a relaxing lunch. Our waiter was very attentive, and gave us good suggestions for lunch options. Definitely want to come back and try some other things. Also the prices for lunch seemed much more reasonable than the dinner prices I remember at the original restaurant.

Yelp
We wanted a restaurant with a nice ocean view and Monkeypod was a great choice. It's located inside the Outrigger near the back of the hotel. The restaurant is huge with large open area to see the ocean. There are a couple of tables right along glass wall. The view from the tables were gorgeous. We loved looking out at the blue waters and see the waves splashing along the wall. The menu was more modern Hawaiian food. We got the poke tacos, kalua pork pizza, and lobster pasta. We also got the kids saimin and burger. The pizza was great. The pesto, pork and pineapple paired well together. The lobster and fish pasta were fresh, and the lobster tender. The kids loved the saimin noodles and the burger was also a hit. We also got some mai tais and the alcohol was definitely in there! Service was great and loved their vibe. They were very accommodating of some of the request we made. Couple of things to note is that the restaurant does have a special valet pricing of $15. And the bathrooms closest to the restaurant are the don't require a keycard to enter.

Yelp
Fun environment with diverse food options would make this a good place for families. Large space. Our waitress was very good, polished professional who handled the table well. Those are the positives.... the negative: the food. The food was painful. No flavor. At the table was ceasar salad, lobster devil eggs, fish tacos, lamb pizza... literally nothing passed a 3 rating. Exception: strawberry smoothie was delicious.

Yelp
MK is the all day dining option at the Outrigger Reef Waikīkī next to our condos. I went to the MK in Lahainā and was not impressed. On the other hand, this location not only has a great view of the beach, it also has great service. Geoffrey was a super cool bartender, and took great care of us. We didn't have food, but maybe next time. They had Fortaleza tequila that is hard to get at the liquor outlets, or at your neighborhood bar. The bar area is real nice and long. You have access to the full menu. I look forward to returning the next time I visit home.

Yelp
The poke tacos are fresh here. Not too many toppings, just cabbage and poke inside a crispy wonton shell topped with avocado cream sauce. A squeeze of lime on top seals the deal. It comes with 3 tacos, but the option to add a 4th taco for sharing was nice. The fish tacos had an interesting peanut sauce that went well with the salsa and sour cream. The fish was grilled perfectly but I did make a note to ask for extra cilantro next time. These two dishes plus the extra taco and a soda came out to $70+, not including tip. I can probably think of better places to spend $85 and get more food, but the server was so sweet and the sound of the ocean waves made it a nice experience.

Yelp
I want to applaud the servers for switching tables to accommodate an elder who couldn't sit in the high tops. They were happy to make the change and I appreciate it. Nothing really stood out, but we enjoyed our dinner especially with the live music! Very popular place so make sure you have a reservation!

Yelp
Food: We came for happy hour and shared the Hamakua Mushroom & Truffle Oil pizza. It was excellent, super flavorful, and perfect for splitting. To drink, I tried the No Ka 'Oi. I'm not much of a drinker, but I loved the strong lilikoi flavor that covered up most of the alcohol taste. That said, it's definitely strong, I still felt a solid buzz after just one, so keep that in mind! Ambiance: The atmosphere is relaxed yet lively, fitting perfectly with the Waikīkī vibe. One of the best parts is being able to enjoy food and drinks while looking out at the beautiful ocean. It's an ideal spot for happy hour and hanging out with friends. Service: Service was great! The staff was warm, friendly, and attentive, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.

Yelp
What a good time. Monkeypod Kitchen was not a place I expected to go out to eat for lunch. This was actually suggested by a friend whose birthday was last week. The ambiance is fantastic, and especially if you're sitting at a table where you can get a great view of Diamond Head from here. It's such a beautiful scene from the restaurant. This screams "Hawaii" through and through, and I like it. The service was great as well. Not only that, but the food was dynamite. Me and my friend had the Garlic Truffle Oil fries, which was incredibly addictive. The truffle really adds a unique flavor I truly didn't expect, but good, nonetheless. I ordered the Kalua Pork and Pineapple Pizza, which also had jalapeños and green onions on it. It's interesting how they put pesto on it. I wouldn't have considered adding that to a Hawaiian pizza, but somehow, it kind of works. The heat really delivers and especially with the sweet pineapple to counter balance with the succulent pork and creamy pesto. Overall, not bad at all for a first-time visit there. 10/10 I would recommend this place if you plan to go there for decent food and a good view outside the restaurant.

Yelp
We loved our dinner here! Somehow my husband was able to reserve one of the nicest tables outside where we were right next to the ocean - incredible views! The foods was absolutely wonderful. Usually I take a couple of photos of what we had but completely forgot because of how delicious everything was. If you go try their pizzas! We also did a side of cornbread and jalapeno mashed potatoes. My husband ordered a Ceasar salad and my family tried the fish tacos. Everything was great! I did manage to get a photo of our desert which was the chocolate cream pie and strawberry gelato...so good! A special thank you to our server named Colby who was so kind, they got our order right, made the right amount of polite conversation, and even took a moment to take a photo of our family. I really appreciate his effort to make our experience one to remember. I've been a server before and I know how difficult their job can be. He was excellent at his profession! If a manager reads this Colby deserves a raise or promotion - you don't want employees like this getting away. They're what keep your establishment getting five star reviews versus one star for bad service. Thank you again, Colby! You were terrific! One more note - this place has vallet parking and they had love music! We loved everything about eating here!

Yelp
Came here for the ocean view and live music... left with a tummy full of pizza and alcohol! The pizza crust here is sooooo yummy! Crispy and chewy! We watched the chef handtoss the dough by the oven while we waited. My personal favorite was the Morrocan Spiced Lamb Sausage! So flavorful and cheesy. A well balanced pizza! The Kahlua Pork & Pineapple Pizza was just okay. The pineapple was juicy, but pork didn't stand out to me honestly. Keep in mind, this place is so popular... We had to wait an hour or a table of 4 at 7:00 PM. Definitely expect a long queue!

Yelp
Great place for happy hour or anytime. Views are incredible. Met some friends for happy hour. I have been to other Merrimans restaurants in Maui. Fun atmosphere, cool decor and I think live music. Ordered their signature monkey pod mai tai and a few apps and a few pies. Btw happy hour discount does not include anything with seafood. The mai tai was the best I've had. They have a honey foam on top and it was delicious. Strong, felt a bit tipsy after 1 drink. Ordered their signature monkey lobster deviled eggs. The lobster was a bit sparse but tasty. You get 4 for 23.00. We also ordered their poke tacos. Also really good and fresh. Lastly we ordered 3 pies. The best was the keylime. Amazing flavor, crust also delicious. The creamsicle was just ok. Not really a creamsicle flavor. The chocalate was ok and the crust was really hard to eat. Music was a little loud but all in all 4/5.
google avatar

Christine R.

Yelp
Monkeypod is the most overrated tourist trap. After ordering their Mai Tai it was enough to have me walking out the door. When I received my Mai Tai I asked the staff what is this white foam and they said it was whipped egg whites. I was not a fan of that at all and I know they are known for that but it wasn't for me. I think the egg white foam should be optional. Didn't get a chance to try anything else on the menu. So my rating is based on their Mai Tai.

Yelp
Came on a Tuesday night for their Happy Hour. Great place to meet up with friends. Parking- valet parking at the Outrigger Reef Waikīkī Beach Resort Service- excellent service. Very attentive and our glasses were always filled on a timely manner. There was Live Music (We were so hungry that we started eating before I could take pictures of the full plates; sorry for pictures of half eaten plates.) Food- all the PuPu appetizers were half off except for the seafood ones. - pizza was very good and had plenty of meat - potstickers were fried and good - chicken wings were too spicy for our taste - taro raviolis didn't really have a distinctive taro taste. My least favorite. - lobster deviled eggs: it was NOT half off and only had 4 of them so one of us in our party of 5 had to share; there was not much lobster flavor and no paprika - garlic fries: it was good - Coconut cream pie: this is a MUST Have. It was so amazingly creamy and the toasted flakes of coconut was just the right amount on top

Yelp
Came 2 weeks ago & our waiter was very kind! We came for a birthday dinner & offered us a complimentary dessert. We chose the banana cream pie slice & it was one of my favorite things I ate on my Hawaii trip! Banana cream pie slice: 4.3 stars Not too sweet & great crust Mushroom truffle pizza: 4 stars So yummy, I would get again Fish sandwich: 3.5 stars Okay but nothing special to me & it doesn't come with fries We also got the burger which had positive reviews from my table & the fish with chips was okay

Yelp
A little bit of a letdown from the hype and reviews people have recommended. The place is very nice, upbeat and a big restaurant. Service was good and our server was great. When it comes to food, I was disappointed. Pizza was not good at all! Same with the chicken wings and fish and chips. It could be a whole better for the price they charge!
google avatar

Yelp
Everything we've eaten here is delicious. See photos. I have no complaints. My favorite drink is the Lilikoi martini but they are famous for their Mai Tais. The service is also exceptional but I can only speak for the bar because that's the only place I've ever sat. Thank you, Nikol, and a few other people behind the bar! You gave us a positive experience. Hostess stand never really greets you but that doesn't bother me because I'm usually rushing to get a bar seat. They have HH and live music with pretty good singers. Love the open windows that are right next to the ocean! Plenty of vegetarian options be sure to check it out!

Yelp
We went to @monkeypodkitchen for happy hour on Sunday. We were still full from lunch, so we didn't have much room. Hubby had the Mai Tai and it was strong! It was made with Kyla organic silver and dark rums, lime, house-made macadamia nut orgeat, bols orange curaçao, honey-lilikoi foam. We had the Kalua Pork & Pineapple, which was kalua pork, macnut pesto, roasted pineapple, jalapeño, and green onion. Hubby likes the jalapeño but I skipped it. We had a few slices to take home. Great happy hour deal at $15! Since we were celebrating our anniversary, Erazo provided the dessert on the house. We chose the Chocolate Cream Pie. Delicious!

Yelp
If you are even thinking about wanting to eat here- make a reservation. This place is super popular, and lives up to the hype. Our server was so great, and had awesome reccomendations. We had the jerk chicken, and the bourgeois pizza- both were amazing. Lobster on a pizza!? Hell yes!! The jerk chicken was so moist and flavorful. The ambiance was nice- amazing views if you are lucky enough to be by the water. It was very crowded and the service was quick.

Yelp
This was my first meal in Hawaii and Monkeypod def stuck out to me for having a big emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. Came around sunset and was seated at the edge of the restaurant where waves crash into the wall, but there's a plastic tarp seperating you from the water. At night they remove the tarp which was surprising to us since the water was crashing quite high. Random side note; the staff here was so Vanderpump rules, everyone was so attractive I was shocked a bit. After ordering, the food did kind of take a while to come out and this restaurant is super loud btw. Our server had a quiet voice and we had trouble hearing him even when ordering our food. We ordered the: -taro ravioli: looked unique on the menu and somehow tasted like ricotta. Would've appreciated more flavor + chili oil -garlic truffle oil fries: um so yummy and crispy and prob the table's fav. Appreciate it came with ketchup and aioli -bulgogi tacos: personally didn't try but apparently was super yummy -kalua pork and pineapple pizza: standard pizza, nothing crazy -hirakara farms mixed greens: smallest salad portion I've ever seen. Also a chunk of bread instead of croutons is weird -macadamia nut crusted fresh fish: for the price I wish the fish was specified? Ours tasted like mahi mahi and was really great. The bokchoy was a weird pairing though and not cooked well -coconut cream pie and chocolate cream pie: both yummy and creamy but what an awful crust Overall, we felt like the food was kind of bland and not really our style. Maybe we should've tried the mai tais but this review is solely for the food. Some things were reasonably priced and some were not. Expected more considering how hyped monkeypod is.

Yelp
This was a great stop for appetizers and cocktails. Fantastic ambiance. Tasty shrimp and cornbread pairing was delicious. Poke tacos were light and hit the spot for snacking. This is a casual beautiful spot

Yelp
One of our favorite restaurants to go to not only for the food but also the drinks and view. I would recommend a reservation because it can definitely get packed. We sat at some tables by the ocean view and we were able to see sea turtles! It was a great view. We came on a Friday and there was live music which made the ambiance perfect for dinner time. Truffle fries: 3.5, the fries were crispy but not too strong of a truffle taste Caesar salad: 4/5, it was tasty but I wish there was more dressing! Monkey pod mai Thai: 5/5!! My go to drink when I'm here. The lilikoi foam makes the drink amazing Sangria: 5/5, my sister loved the fruity taste Poke tacos: 4/5, solid appetizer to share or you can make it an entree like I did Fish tacos: 4/5, my mom said that the fish tasted fresh and she enjoyed the sauce Fish sandwich: 4/5, the fish was cooked perfectly. Be warned that the kimchi was sooo spicy.
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful with good vibes. We went on a Friday night and there was live music. It seemed pretty busy so we had to wait a little bit for our server to order and at other times too.I would suggest making a reservation because we had to wait a little even though we had a reservation. The food and drinks came out pretty fast once the order was placed. Food and drinks were all really good! I would recommend trying the pizza with pork, pineapple, and jalapeños. I tried a bite of my friend's and it was insanely good! I got the fish sandwich and I really enjoyed that too!
google avatar

Yelp
This was the best allergy friendly fish diner I have been in!! Tida was really nice and she was really energetic, and when one of our foods didn't come out the way we wanted it she gave us some pineapple sorbet on the house and she deducted it from the bill!! The ambiance is really nice- great ocean views and the interior decor is nice. They even have live music- nice job! Would totally come back again!!!

Yelp
We had a 9pm reservation and they were packed! Service was spotty, it was hard to get a hold of our waiter. Although, ambiance was great and lively. Food was underwhelming: The fish tacos were just ok. (5/10) They were pretty dry, they lacked flavor, and the fish was tough. My favorite part of the meal was the pie. (7/10). The crust was great. The mushroom pizza was (6/10), the crust was thin and the mushroom flavor was strong.

Yelp
I stayed at Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort during my stay in Oahu. So of course Monkeypod Kitchen is in my lobby. My boyfriend and I received 6 breakfast vouchers. We tried their greek yogurt bowl, Hawaiian Chilaquiles, The Cure, Taro Hash, and Pete's Benedict. We thoroughly enjoyed everything. Our favorites were the cure and the greek yogurt bowl. Least favorite would be the taro hash. Great Service! Beautiful water view. It's a spacious restaurant. Just gotta watch out for birds who lurk at your food. We also checked out their dinner menu. We ordered poke tacos, kalua pork and pineapple pizza , organic macadamia nut crusted fresh fish and strawberry cream pie. Got a beer and a monkeypod mai tai. I would say the poke tacos were delish and other dishes were good. If I could choose something, then I would go with fish & chips and coconut cream pie.

Yelp
Monkeypod Kitchen was our go to spot since we were staying at The Outrigger Reef (amazing hotel!). We got so lucky that this was one our hotel restaurants as it turns out it's a local and visitor favorite! With amazing beach views and on the quieter side of Waikiki Beach...it's the perfect spot to grab a casual bite or one of their awesome cocktails. We tried their famous Mai Tai and it didn't disappoint!! Also other menu call outs are their kalua pork pizza and truffle fries. Happy hour is from 330pm-5pm and it definitely got busy daily at this time but there was always availability at the bar which was great. The service at Monkeypod is also top notch. Everyone was so kind, welcoming and patient. Big shout out to Zach our server from one of our dinners. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great meal and despite being so busy during peak dinner rush...he remained attentive and super friendly! Monkeypod's ocean views are also incredible...if you're lucky to score a table by the beach front end...take all the pictures!!

Yelp
If you're in Oahu and looking for a spot that combines stunning beach views, a vibrant vibe, and delicious, locally sourced food--Monkeypod Kitchen at the Outrigger Reef is a must-visit! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by a warm, friendly staff and an open-air setting that lets you soak in the ocean breeze. The views of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head are absolutely breathtaking--perfect for a relaxing brunch or a memorable dinner. The food? Incredible. Everything is fresh, farm-to-table, and packed with flavor. We had the macadamia nut-crusted fish and the bulgogi pork tacos--both were chef's kiss. Don't even get me started on the cocktails--their famous Monkeypod Mai Tai with the lilikoi foam lives up to the hype. They also had live music playing while we dined, which really added to the chill, island-luxury vibe without being over the top. This place is the whole package: delicious food, beautiful views, great service, and that laid-back Hawaiian charm. Highly recommend making a reservation--it's popular for a reason.

Yelp
The oceanfront restaurant at Outrigger Reef truly boasts a prime location -- right next to Halekulani! This spot has seen quite a few transformations: first Shorebird, then The Reef Bar & Market Grill, and now it's reopened as Monkeypod Kitchen. Quite a revolving door of restaurants! Curious to check it out, we stopped by during their much-talked-about Happy Hour. But contrary to the buzz, the Happy Hour menu was rather limited -- no seafood options at all, making it more of an Unhappy Hour (lol). I was intrigued by the unusual "Ube Ravioli," but what arrived was basically a thick-skinned dumpling (cue laughter). Luckily, I wasn't too hungry. So, I sipped my favorite IPA, relaxed, and soaked in the blue-green ocean views. Somehow, even thick dumplings and no seafood feel perfectly fine when you're gazing at that view. Monkeypod is very much a large family-style restaurant -- steaks, seafood, pizzas, pastas -- plenty of options for groups. On the day we visited, the waves were wild, occasionally sending sprays all the way to the window-side tables. Tourists squealed in surprise but seemed to enjoy every moment. We locals just smiled and said, "Yep, this is Waikiki." In the end, the Happy Hour price includes the priceless view -- because no one charges you even a cent to enjoy Waikiki Beach (lol).

Yelp
Great food, amazing view, and great vibes! That sums it up nicely Okay, here's some more detail. This is set inside the rear of the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort. Like other hotel restaurants in the area, you don't need to be a guest to eat here. Just walk up to the host and make your reservations. We were a walk in reservation at lunch time (12pm on a Friday) and were seated in about 3 minutes. Once inside, you're immediately greeted by their spectacular view of the ocean and partial beach. Most of the tables have a great view of Diamond Head mountain (Leahi). Their service was great as they explained their restaurant style. It included explaining how they choose their seafood fresh each day. All other vegetables are locally grown. Everything we ate was amazing! I also recommend their Monkeypod Mai tai. The pineapple foam makes it stand out.

Yelp
Shout out to JC with the solid foodie recommendations! Happy tummy. Place is packed. Strongly recommend making a reservation unless you're a cool kid like me and get a seat at the bar to order food. 3 rounds of food. Ahi Poke Tacos, gnocchi with chicken & banana cream pie + mai Tai to start. Vibe is hella chill

Yelp
We really ate here 6 times in five days. Everything I tried (kale salad, chilaquiles, wings, ahi tacos, their mai tai, breakfast potatoes, ramen named "the cure," the benedict and potstickers) was fantastic. The service was excellent and it's a gorgeous view on the ocean. Do not regret a single moment there and even wish there were a couple more...

Yelp
I would recommend getting a reservation here as walk ins can take a while so plan beforehand! We loved this place so much for dinner that we ended up coming back for breakfast. The restaurant is right by the ocean and the views are breathtaking. Food was delicious and don't forget to try one of their pies.

Yelp
Drinks were good , wish the had a bit more of a cocktail variety but still good . Food was delicious and the service was great as well . You can sit right up against the ocean and look out to it while you are eating . They have plenty of fans in the place to to keep you out of the humidity and cool .

Yelp
This place is in the Outrigger Reef Hotel. PARKING: valet only and restaurant validates up to 4 hours. Came here for happy hour. Everything was delicious and service was good. The best part of this place is the view. The chicken wings were delicious. The avocado & cucumber salad was tasty and refreshing. Taro ravioli was cooked perfectly and the sauce was very good. This is definitely a place to go to enjoy food with exceptional views.

Yelp
I went to Monkeypod with my boyfriend while we were on vacation, and it was everything we hoped for and more! We actually found this place through TikTok and decided to give it a try--and we're so glad we did. First of all, the mai tais are next level. Seriously, believe the hype--they're perfectly balanced and the honey-lilikoi foam on top was such a unique touch. We could've stayed all day sipping those! The servers were amazing--friendly, attentive, and gave great recommendations. You could tell they genuinely cared about making sure everyone had a great experience. And the food? Incredible. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. We left feeling full, happy, and already talking about coming back. If you're thinking about going--GO! Monkeypod totally lived up to the hype and made our trip even more memorable.

Yelp
Monkeypod was our final dinner on Oahu after a sunset Catamaran sailing. We did not have a reservation and only waited about 20 minutes for a table. There was some comfortable seating available while we waited. This was easily our best meal on Oahu. The table had burgers and I had the Macadamia fish. The restaurant was nicely themed and open air. It was already dark, but you could hear the ocean. All of our meals were delicious.

Yelp
Server Cheyenne is the best! So friendly and accurate! We enjoyed the drinks and food. Sorry but the gorgeous sunset was a 10 today. The pinks and purple were breathtaking!

Yelp
Please come with someone who loves adventurous food. This is for the traveler and the person who loves good cuisine. Great drink choices and great view. Leave the hamburger lovers behind!

Yelp
Had breakfast here menu selections for breakfast wasn't all that great kind of a weird selection of stuff but the food tasted OK. My eggs were cold and my potatoes were cold and so I paid $24 for two little cold eggs and some potatoes. Not a very good choice but others in my group had some pancakes. They said they were really good pancakes And the service was good but you can't beat the views awesome views. The interior is nice so if you go for the views and don't expect too much for the breakfast foods, you're probably gonna be better off this way maybe go for lunch or dinner the bar looks great. Looks like they had a good selection of alcohol in barrier But overall I wasn't too pleased with my cold eggs and cold potatoes.

Yelp
MUST SEE MUST SEE MUST SEE!! I am never a restaurant repeater on vacation but their happy hour is the greatest which includes their well renowned and in my opinion the BEST Mai tai in waikiki. The foam is so unique and they do not cheapen it during their happy hour. The drink is boozy but well balanced so give it a try! What We Ordered: Mai tai, Kalua pork and pineapple pizza, fish tacos, kale salad. Would get everything again! Highlights: * Service: very friendly service in the dining room and in the bar. The workers are hustling! * Ambiance: cute beachy but upscale vibes at the back of the hotel. Try to get a seat in the dining area or bar (first come first serve) close to the water for an epic picture! * Cleanliness: very clean * Price: reasonable, good deal during happy hour Would I Return? Yes, we already did during our trip but will have to try their other locations on the other islands. Pro Tip: Happy hour, happy hour, happy hour! Come here and get the Mai tai!

Yelp
We ended up grabbing dinner here one night while on vacation in Oʻahu, and it was such a fun spot. The vibe was lively--with loud live music and a really pretty interior that gave it such a cool atmosphere. It was definitely busy though, and since we didn't have a reservation, we had to wait a bit for a table. Our server was super attentive and kept our drinks topped off, which I always appreciate. I had to try their famous Monkeypod Mai Tai with the honey-lilikoi foam--strong, but so good. For dinner, I went with Pete's Fish & Chips and loved it. My husband got the Bulgogi Pork Tacos and said they were amazing. We ended the night with their Banana Cream Pie and oh my gosh--it was the perfect sweet finish.

Yelp
Monkeypod is always a good idea! Have to order the Mai tai bc YUM! The lilikoi foam is 1,000/10! The White Walker drink in a tiki cup is also 1,000/10!!! Always have to start out with the garlic truffle fries! The taro raviolis are also a good option, too! You can't go wrong here. Kalua pork and pineapple pizza is our go-to and the bulgogi pork tacos are also good! Chill vibes! I love when they have live musicians play -- it really adds to your experience. If you don't get the tables along the water or with a view of Diamond Head, make sure to go over to the corner and snap a pic. Everyone's there for the same view and everyone's nice, they'll let you squeeze in. Everyone is so kind, friendly and happy to be there. Everyone who has waited on us has always been a pleasure. *Make sure to make a reservation because the wait can be long here.

Yelp
This was a great experience at an eclectic restaurant. Not for the faint of heart (or wallet) the Monkeypod Kitchen is walking distance from Aulani and other high-end resorts in Ko Olina. My plus one and I were looking for a place to celebrate that was not far from the resort, and wanted someplace that was somewhere in between casual and upscale. This place nailed it. I will say, if you don't know what you're in the mood for, this place, has it all. They had a whole bunch of different pizzas that I was tempted to try, and a number of other delicious dishes, but it was Cinco de Mayo and I opted For the fish tacos. It didn't come with a side, and I was attempted to try the Bulgogi tacos, so I ended up getting one of those à la carte, too. The fish was grilled and season just right, and my only regret is that I ate them too quickly. Also, the waitress was perfectly attentive and friendly, offering great menu suggestions, and even brought out a couple of chairs for my little one who had too much fun earlier in the day and couldn't keep his eyes open. The live music was tasteful and probably lulled him to sleep. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend it.

Yelp
** NOT RECOMMENDED ** Food: ** Value: ** Menu: ** Ambiance: *** Service: **** Parking: *** I had a chance to sample every appetizer and a few entrées for my nephews rehearsal luncheon, and not one of them would I recommend. The menu is very limited! I can't believe that their average rating is a 4.3 rating, for it does not deserve it. If you're in Waikiki and looking for somewhere with tasty appetizers and entrées, cross the street and go to Roy's Waikiki. Or, walk a couple of blocks and go to Eating House or Herringbone at the International Market Place. Or drive to Sidestreet Inn in Kapahulu. If you want an ocean view, go next-door to Orchids at the Halekulani Hotel or to the Hau Tree Lanai by Kapiolani Park or to 53 by the Sea by Kewalo basin. If you're local, this place reminded us the most of Nico's at Pier 38. However, the food is good at Nico's but not here. It's a tourist trap. If you're a tourist in Waikiki, looking for a place to have a beer or drinks, listen to live music and have a view of the ocean Monkeypod kitchen may meet your needs. But if you're looking for a place to eat good tasty food, look at one of my recommendations above or one of my 130+ restaurant reviews in Yelp or IG at MiltonIn808 I eat at restaurants in Honolulu 3-5 times a week and I'm a foodie, so I speak with some experience. RATINGS: Roasted chicken wings = F no taste Poki tacos = D Taro Ravioli = F Shrimp and Hamakua mushroom = C Potstickers = D Lobster deviled eggs = C Cast-iron shrimp = C House cut fries = C Garlic truffle oil fries = C Fish & Chips = D Hamakua mushroom and truffle oil pizza = B RATINGS KEY: A = Really Good - one of the best B = Good - would order again C = ok - similar, nothing special D = Not very good - wouldn't order F = Terrible - avoid

Yelp
I have been to Monkeypod many times, but never for breakfast! I ordered the yogurt bowl, after seeing a TikTok review of Monkeypod's breakfast items. The yogurt bowl was full of fresh fruit, and worth the price in my opinion. I requested an ocean side table, and we were sat at a perfect spot. Our waitress wasn't particularly friendly, but it fine.

Yelp
Such a beautiful bar and restaurant atmosphere. Live music with an open concept right at the ocean. The food was amazing from the wings to the soup all the way to the deviled eggs. I started at the bar and moved to a seat next to the glass barrier that blocked the ocean waves. Unfortunately, during our meal, there was a huge wave from the ocean that jumped above the glass wall and landed on us and our food. No need to worry because Alex (our server) and especially Syrina (the manager) made certain we still had a great experience. We were moved a little further away, helped to get dried off, and our plates were recooked (they might have been even better the second time around). What could have turned out to be something frustrating and disastrous, ended up being an amazing experience. Thank you Syrina and team...I'll be back!
