"Cooling off with a Blue Hawaii Everything about the Blue Hawaii cocktail at the Shore Bird Restaurant says "tropical island paradise." The icy blue color of the blue curaçao is enough to cool any sunburnt skin down and providing for a relaxed mood to enjoy the sun's decent into the Pacific Ocean. The Shore Bird is a breezy outdoor restaurant where you can grill your own food, or simply sip on a beverage and enjoy pupus (appetizers)."

Awesome waiter Kash. Amazing view. Had to work for my food, haha, grill it yourself is a cool experience. Very relaxing and don't feel rushed. Got to enjoy very cold beer after dinner as the sun began to set.

Old lady at front door ignored us for a few minutes while we were looking at her, food was OK, but not great.

I had to leave a review after seeing several reviews that frankly don't make sense. I've been to the Shorebird 20+ times. Service is always impeccable. Salad bar, Chili, Potato Salad is great and Yes--: this is a grill your own Protein place. Which is what they tell you every time you get to the restaurant and meet the hostess. So for those that don't get it or don't listen, leave and don't leave a review! This place isn't for you, it's for the other million of people that come here every year. I highly recommend the any of the items to grill, but I usually get the Sirloin, which is a great cut and always tender. They have spices, sauces , etc to make it perfect. As I grill my perfect steak, looking out at beautiful Waikiki beach and the sunset, I also grill some pineapple from the salad bar, and make my own grilled garlic bread. Another tip- is to check out their website before you go as there is always a buy one entre, get one for 50% off. Cannot beat that! Great service, food and location!!! Must go if staying in Waikiki.

Arrived at 4:00pm, asked if I had a reservation, .. No..., there will be 30 minute wait, ... OK... 4:30pm seated, approximately 50 some tables in the dinning area, all empty, seated in the bar area. Grill your own system explained, server arrived at the table at 4:52pm. Roughly an hour after arrival we finally have drinks and the open, all-you-can-eat salad bar is offered. More like a pasta bar, ended up with lettuce, onions, cheese and dressing, no tomatoes, no cucumbers, no sunflower seeds, no ham or bacon, none of the things I have come to expect as standard on a salad bar, nothing else looked appetizing. Salad finished along with drink, 10 minutes later server arrives with steaks, bread and mushroom and onions (more like mushrooms, mushrooms, mushrooms and onion). Let's cook, grill area very hot, seasonings are plentiful, but right next to the grill so it is very hot and difficult to season properly. Cooking times were adequately explained so that the food came out properly cooked and the steaks were cooked just as we liked them, but they were a little tough and not seasoned very well. Blame the cook right, oh yeah, we didn't have one. Premium price and I have to do the work. 3 or 4 times while eating I reached for my drink, oh yeah it was empty before I finished the salad. 3/4 of the way through the meal I finally get a refill on my drink. During the meal massive amounts of smoke from the grill keep blowing through the restaurant, better hope you have no breathing problems. Also being seated in the bar area we were subjected to load music more attuned to drinking that fine dining. Finished the meal and it takes more than 10 minutes to get the check. Finally almost 2 hours after our first arrival we escape this nightmare of a place. If I ever return to this state, I will never return to this restaurant. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Google
Love this place, you get to cook your own meal and a great salad bar. Make sure to get the papaya dressing if you're coming here, its amazing. The views of the ocean here are great. We had the steaks, which were very good. Our server was good, and the food was tasty (we did grill it ourselves!) Would defiantly reccomend, one of my favourite restaurants in Waikiki.

Google
Went there twice, the food was good but overpriced for food you have to cook yourself. I think $75 for small steak, lobster, and kabob. The first night the wait staff was on top of giving us drinks, and the late night happy hour was nice to my wallet. The second night, the service was slow, and the waiter didn't know when or what was included in the happy hour and we had to refer him to the drink menu on the table. The kareoke hosts were friendly.

Jeffrey Silverman

Google
Expensive and you have/get to cook your own meat. However it's really hot and smoky by the grill, and the chefs end up telling you how to do it or doing it all for you. The meat was fine, but not great. The salad bar was pretty good though. The prices were way too high and the drinks were mediocre.

Google
Google maps does not really show it's location. It is right on the beach. There is a boardwalk area going in the opposite direction with the Army Museum at the corner. This restaurant is right on the beach where you walk in from the sand into an open air bar and restaurant. We were a bit rushed but enjoyed a fast steak from the grill. They bring you the cut of meat and you take it to the grill and cook it the way you like it under the supervision of one of the chefs. The waitress and matradee were very friendly and accommodating. We had quick service, good food, and a wonderful view without any reservations (not recommended). We almost missed this place and were going to eat at the nearby Subway when I happened to ask a fellow veteran at the outside bar. Google maps should have this place pop up whenever you are in the area.

Yelp
Had an amazing experience at Monkeypod thanks to Corey- easily one of the best bartenders ever!! Personable, attentive, and incredibly skilled behind the bar! He let me take some sick pictures of him and he also took some great photos of us! He recommended me an amazing drinks that we couldn't resist! Can't wait to come back! Mahalo

Yelp
Tucked away inside the Outrigger Reef Waikīkī Beach Resort, The Monkeypot is one of those spots that feels both exclusive and welcoming. The hotel itself has a great laid-back yet elegant atmosphere and the restaurant is located at the back of the first floor, where it opens up to impeccable ocean views that make every meal feel like a getaway. The menu leans heavily toward farm-to-table and ocean-to-plate sensibilities, offering a gourmet take on local favorites and seasonal ingredients. The fish and chips were a standout with that crispy, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked without being greasy. The lamb chops, though, were next-level, clearly marinated with great intentions, bursting with flavor, and cooked to a tender finish.

Yelp
We went to @monkeypodkitchen for happy hour on Sunday. We were still full from lunch, so we didn't have much room. Hubby had the Mai Tai and it was strong! It was made with Kyla organic silver and dark rums, lime, house-made macadamia nut orgeat, bols orange curaçao, honey-lilikoi foam. We had the Kalua Pork & Pineapple, which was kalua pork, macnut pesto, roasted pineapple, jalapeño, and green onion. Hubby likes the jalapeño but I skipped it. We had a few slices to take home. Great happy hour deal at $15! Since we were celebrating our anniversary, Erazo provided the dessert on the house. We chose the Chocolate Cream Pie. Delicious!

Yelp
This was my first meal in Hawaii and Monkeypod def stuck out to me for having a big emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. Came around sunset and was seated at the edge of the restaurant where waves crash into the wall, but there's a plastic tarp seperating you from the water. At night they remove the tarp which was surprising to us since the water was crashing quite high. Random side note; the staff here was so Vanderpump rules, everyone was so attractive I was shocked a bit. After ordering, the food did kind of take a while to come out and this restaurant is super loud btw. Our server had a quiet voice and we had trouble hearing him even when ordering our food. We ordered the: -taro ravioli: looked unique on the menu and somehow tasted like ricotta. Would've appreciated more flavor + chili oil -garlic truffle oil fries: um so yummy and crispy and prob the table's fav. Appreciate it came with ketchup and aioli -bulgogi tacos: personally didn't try but apparently was super yummy -kalua pork and pineapple pizza: standard pizza, nothing crazy -hirakara farms mixed greens: smallest salad portion I've ever seen. Also a chunk of bread instead of croutons is weird -macadamia nut crusted fresh fish: for the price I wish the fish was specified? Ours tasted like mahi mahi and was really great. The bokchoy was a weird pairing though and not cooked well -coconut cream pie and chocolate cream pie: both yummy and creamy but what an awful crust Overall, we felt like the food was kind of bland and not really our style. Maybe we should've tried the mai tais but this review is solely for the food. Some things were reasonably priced and some were not. Expected more considering how hyped monkeypod is.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful with good vibes. We went on a Friday night and there was live music. It seemed pretty busy so we had to wait a little bit for our server to order and at other times too.I would suggest making a reservation because we had to wait a little even though we had a reservation. The food and drinks came out pretty fast once the order was placed. Food and drinks were all really good! I would recommend trying the pizza with pork, pineapple, and jalapeños. I tried a bite of my friend's and it was insanely good! I got the fish sandwich and I really enjoyed that too!

Yelp
We had a 9pm reservation and they were packed! Service was spotty, it was hard to get a hold of our waiter. Although, ambiance was great and lively. Food was underwhelming: The fish tacos were just ok. (5/10) They were pretty dry, they lacked flavor, and the fish was tough. My favorite part of the meal was the pie. (7/10). The crust was great. The mushroom pizza was (6/10), the crust was thin and the mushroom flavor was strong.

Yelp
I stayed at Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort during my stay in Oahu. So of course Monkeypod Kitchen is in my lobby. My boyfriend and I received 6 breakfast vouchers. We tried their greek yogurt bowl, Hawaiian Chilaquiles, The Cure, Taro Hash, and Pete's Benedict. We thoroughly enjoyed everything. Our favorites were the cure and the greek yogurt bowl. Least favorite would be the taro hash. Great Service! Beautiful water view. It's a spacious restaurant. Just gotta watch out for birds who lurk at your food. We also checked out their dinner menu. We ordered poke tacos, kalua pork and pineapple pizza , organic macadamia nut crusted fresh fish and strawberry cream pie. Got a beer and a monkeypod mai tai. I would say the poke tacos were delish and other dishes were good. If I could choose something, then I would go with fish & chips and coconut cream pie.

Yelp
Monkeypod Kitchen was our go to spot since we were staying at The Outrigger Reef (amazing hotel!). We got so lucky that this was one our hotel restaurants as it turns out it's a local and visitor favorite! With amazing beach views and on the quieter side of Waikiki Beach...it's the perfect spot to grab a casual bite or one of their awesome cocktails. We tried their famous Mai Tai and it didn't disappoint!! Also other menu call outs are their kalua pork pizza and truffle fries. Happy hour is from 330pm-5pm and it definitely got busy daily at this time but there was always availability at the bar which was great. The service at Monkeypod is also top notch. Everyone was so kind, welcoming and patient. Big shout out to Zach our server from one of our dinners. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great meal and despite being so busy during peak dinner rush...he remained attentive and super friendly! Monkeypod's ocean views are also incredible...if you're lucky to score a table by the beach front end...take all the pictures!!

Yelp
One of our favorite restaurants to go to not only for the food but also the drinks and view. I would recommend a reservation because it can definitely get packed. We sat at some tables by the ocean view and we were able to see sea turtles! It was a great view. We came on a Friday and there was live music which made the ambiance perfect for dinner time. Truffle fries: 3.5, the fries were crispy but not too strong of a truffle taste Caesar salad: 4/5, it was tasty but I wish there was more dressing! Monkey pod mai Thai: 5/5!! My go to drink when I'm here. The lilikoi foam makes the drink amazing Sangria: 5/5, my sister loved the fruity taste Poke tacos: 4/5, solid appetizer to share or you can make it an entree like I did Fish tacos: 4/5, my mom said that the fish tasted fresh and she enjoyed the sauce Fish sandwich: 4/5, the fish was cooked perfectly. Be warned that the kimchi was sooo spicy.

Yelp
If you're in Oahu and looking for a spot that combines stunning beach views, a vibrant vibe, and delicious, locally sourced food--Monkeypod Kitchen at the Outrigger Reef is a must-visit! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by a warm, friendly staff and an open-air setting that lets you soak in the ocean breeze. The views of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head are absolutely breathtaking--perfect for a relaxing brunch or a memorable dinner. The food? Incredible. Everything is fresh, farm-to-table, and packed with flavor. We had the macadamia nut-crusted fish and the bulgogi pork tacos--both were chef's kiss. Don't even get me started on the cocktails--their famous Monkeypod Mai Tai with the lilikoi foam lives up to the hype. They also had live music playing while we dined, which really added to the chill, island-luxury vibe without being over the top. This place is the whole package: delicious food, beautiful views, great service, and that laid-back Hawaiian charm. Highly recommend making a reservation--it's popular for a reason.

Yelp
Great food, amazing view, and great vibes! That sums it up nicely Okay, here's some more detail. This is set inside the rear of the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort. Like other hotel restaurants in the area, you don't need to be a guest to eat here. Just walk up to the host and make your reservations. We were a walk in reservation at lunch time (12pm on a Friday) and were seated in about 3 minutes. Once inside, you're immediately greeted by their spectacular view of the ocean and partial beach. Most of the tables have a great view of Diamond Head mountain (Leahi). Their service was great as they explained their restaurant style. It included explaining how they choose their seafood fresh each day. All other vegetables are locally grown. Everything we ate was amazing! I also recommend their Monkeypod Mai tai. The pineapple foam makes it stand out.

Yelp
The oceanfront restaurant at Outrigger Reef truly boasts a prime location -- right next to Halekulani! This spot has seen quite a few transformations: first Shorebird, then The Reef Bar & Market Grill, and now it's reopened as Monkeypod Kitchen. Quite a revolving door of restaurants! Curious to check it out, we stopped by during their much-talked-about Happy Hour. But contrary to the buzz, the Happy Hour menu was rather limited -- no seafood options at all, making it more of an Unhappy Hour (lol). I was intrigued by the unusual "Ube Ravioli," but what arrived was basically a thick-skinned dumpling (cue laughter). Luckily, I wasn't too hungry. So, I sipped my favorite IPA, relaxed, and soaked in the blue-green ocean views. Somehow, even thick dumplings and no seafood feel perfectly fine when you're gazing at that view. Monkeypod is very much a large family-style restaurant -- steaks, seafood, pizzas, pastas -- plenty of options for groups. On the day we visited, the waves were wild, occasionally sending sprays all the way to the window-side tables. Tourists squealed in surprise but seemed to enjoy every moment. We locals just smiled and said, "Yep, this is Waikiki." In the end, the Happy Hour price includes the priceless view -- because no one charges you even a cent to enjoy Waikiki Beach (lol).

Yelp
Shout out to JC with the solid foodie recommendations! Happy tummy. Place is packed. Strongly recommend making a reservation unless you're a cool kid like me and get a seat at the bar to order food. 3 rounds of food. Ahi Poke Tacos, gnocchi with chicken & banana cream pie + mai Tai to start. Vibe is hella chill

Yelp
I went to Monkeypod with my boyfriend while we were on vacation, and it was everything we hoped for and more! We actually found this place through TikTok and decided to give it a try--and we're so glad we did. First of all, the mai tais are next level. Seriously, believe the hype--they're perfectly balanced and the honey-lilikoi foam on top was such a unique touch. We could've stayed all day sipping those! The servers were amazing--friendly, attentive, and gave great recommendations. You could tell they genuinely cared about making sure everyone had a great experience. And the food? Incredible. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. We left feeling full, happy, and already talking about coming back. If you're thinking about going--GO! Monkeypod totally lived up to the hype and made our trip even more memorable.

Yelp
Monkeypod was our final dinner on Oahu after a sunset Catamaran sailing. We did not have a reservation and only waited about 20 minutes for a table. There was some comfortable seating available while we waited. This was easily our best meal on Oahu. The table had burgers and I had the Macadamia fish. The restaurant was nicely themed and open air. It was already dark, but you could hear the ocean. All of our meals were delicious.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised! Was worried this was going to be a total tourist trap with bad food and service like many places in Waikiki but it was amazing!! It was very very busy and loud but our server was quick and attentive. The ahi poke tacos are a must- wonton shells stuffed with fresh poke and avo cream. The Korean pork tacos are also very good. I love the broccoli salad just wish it was a bigger a size for the price. The best thing to order here are the pizzas !! The kalua pork with pineapple and jalepeno was the fav hands down! The truffle pizza was also full of flavor. These two overpowered the seafood pizza with lobster. It was good but not as crisp and the flavors were subtler. Everyone loves the mai tais here and the foam is fun but a bit sweet for me! Good spot with great views and food.

Yelp
MUST SEE MUST SEE MUST SEE!! I am never a restaurant repeater on vacation but their happy hour is the greatest which includes their well renowned and in my opinion the BEST Mai tai in waikiki. The foam is so unique and they do not cheapen it during their happy hour. The drink is boozy but well balanced so give it a try! What We Ordered: Mai tai, Kalua pork and pineapple pizza, fish tacos, kale salad. Would get everything again! Highlights: * Service: very friendly service in the dining room and in the bar. The workers are hustling! * Ambiance: cute beachy but upscale vibes at the back of the hotel. Try to get a seat in the dining area or bar (first come first serve) close to the water for an epic picture! * Cleanliness: very clean * Price: reasonable, good deal during happy hour Would I Return? Yes, we already did during our trip but will have to try their other locations on the other islands. Pro Tip: Happy hour, happy hour, happy hour! Come here and get the Mai tai!

Yelp
Despite the considerable buzz surrounding this establishment, my recent dining experience left much to be desired. While the restaurant certainly draws crowds, the execution falls short of the hype. Our server was genuinely friendly and personable, which was a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing evening. However, the service pace was notably slow throughout our visit. The portion sizes were surprisingly small given the premium pricing. I ordered the fish tacos ($28) and felt it was disappointing. The fish was dry and lacked seasoning. There were also no sides so I snacked on my brother's pizza. The bourgeois pizza ($32) had mushrooms and lobster and the toppings created excessive moisture, resulting in a soggy base that made the pizza difficult to eat. For the price point, the actual quantity of lobster was insufficient and felt more like a garnish than a substantial protein. The waterfront dining and scenery is beautiful. The atmosphere is more like a beach bar, though.

Yelp
Monkeypod is always a good idea! Have to order the Mai tai bc YUM! The lilikoi foam is 1,000/10! The White Walker drink in a tiki cup is also 1,000/10!!! Always have to start out with the garlic truffle fries! The taro raviolis are also a good option, too! You can't go wrong here. Kalua pork and pineapple pizza is our go-to and the bulgogi pork tacos are also good! Chill vibes! I love when they have live musicians play -- it really adds to your experience. If you don't get the tables along the water or with a view of Diamond Head, make sure to go over to the corner and snap a pic. Everyone's there for the same view and everyone's nice, they'll let you squeeze in. Everyone is so kind, friendly and happy to be there. Everyone who has waited on us has always been a pleasure. *Make sure to make a reservation because the wait can be long here.

Yelp
This was a great experience at an eclectic restaurant. Not for the faint of heart (or wallet) the Monkeypod Kitchen is walking distance from Aulani and other high-end resorts in Ko Olina. My plus one and I were looking for a place to celebrate that was not far from the resort, and wanted someplace that was somewhere in between casual and upscale. This place nailed it. I will say, if you don't know what you're in the mood for, this place, has it all. They had a whole bunch of different pizzas that I was tempted to try, and a number of other delicious dishes, but it was Cinco de Mayo and I opted For the fish tacos. It didn't come with a side, and I was attempted to try the Bulgogi tacos, so I ended up getting one of those à la carte, too. The fish was grilled and season just right, and my only regret is that I ate them too quickly. Also, the waitress was perfectly attentive and friendly, offering great menu suggestions, and even brought out a couple of chairs for my little one who had too much fun earlier in the day and couldn't keep his eyes open. The live music was tasteful and probably lulled him to sleep. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend it.

Yelp
I did not eat here, so I can't review the food or service. What I am reviewing is a stupid policy and practice by this restaurant. Let me set the stage. We are flying home today so we are dressed in warmer clothes for the airport. Checked our bags at our hotel and walked over to Monkeypod to check it out and kill a few hours. Got there sweating from the walk at roughly 10:53 am and just wanted to sit under the fans and cool off with some drinks. The hostess greeted us with "breakfast or lunch?" We said "lunch". She then informed us that they have a change over period and she couldn't sit us down until lunch was started at 11:15 am and passed us a pager and then answered a phone call. Forced to wait, baking and sweating, in the hot sun vs. sitting under a fan in a shaded restaurant simply waiting for lunch to start with some nice refreshments makes no sense. Terrible policy. We left.

Yelp
Daily happy hour is 3:30 to 5 pm. They have certain appetizers at half price. Cocktails were $4 off. The Mai Tai was amazing with Pineapple foam topping. Very tasty We ordered the Kailua Pork and Pineapple pizza appetizer which was only $15 for happy hour. The garlic truffle fries were also very delicious with a large portion. We could not eat all the food They have live music starting g at 3 pm. Fantastic views of surfers and Diamond Head.

Yelp
The happy hour here is exceptional! Really love all the pizzas, cannot go wrong. Extremely busy, but to be expected for downtown Waikiki. Recommend making a reservation if you're greater than a party of 2! Lovely beachfront dining spot and great to step outside and watch the sunset! A bit loud and crowded around sunset time.

Yelp
Easily in my top 5 places to eat on island. Reservations are needed most evenings, especially on the weekends. Don't bother writing in special requests because it seems like they don't even look at them. It's stupid, but we were celebrating and asked for a table by the water, and were willing to wait. Got seating further in then every before and saw plenty of wide open tables much much closer. Kind of a bummer, but won't stop us from coming back. Food is always great. On the pricy side for some of the portions, but not a surprise for downtown. We typically get the specials and have always been pleased. The tacos are always pretty high on our list. But my favorite? The fries...but you have to ask for the malt vinegar aioli to dip them in! It's just so good. I think I keep going back just for that. Can't go wrong with the chocolate pie to end things. Inside is beautiful. Open air and stunning views. Go at sunset for the more spectacular orange sky. Live music in the evenings. Fridays are our favorite because the singer is just absolutely amazing. Bathroom situation is kinda weird. You have to leave the restaurant and go to the bathroom in the hotel. So I make sure I go before we get seated. Brunch on the weekends goes till 11am and it seems to be a hidden gem with not many people there on a Sunday. Pancakes with lilikoi foam and Hawaiian chilaquiles were huge hits at our table. And they were super accommodating to a large party reservation when I called(online only lets you go up to 8).

Yelp
This restaurant definitely attracts tourists. It gets very busy so make reservations ahead of time. Beautiful ocean views if you're lucky enough to get a table by the water. I came to try their Mai Tai. Was it the best mai tai I've ever had? No lol but the foam was good. I preferred their White Walker which had gin, coconut cream, lemongrass, and lime. It was delicious! The food was nothing special. A bit pricey too. Here is what we ordered: * Lobster Deviled Eggs (2.5/5) - Just okay... definitely squeeze some of the lime they give you on top. It made it taste better. Was not worth $23 in my opinion. * Kalua Pork & Pineapple Pizza (2/5) - Tastes exactly how it sounds. Wish it had more pork and pineapple. Honestly, it was forgettable. * Sea Bass with a Coconut Sauce Over Rice (special of the day) (4/5) - Fish was cooked perfectly. The sauce was creamy and flavorful. The rice was a little mushy.

Yelp
Victoria C. was our server on June 29th at the Outrigger Reef Waikiki location. We have to say that she was nothing short of AMAZING! Extremely professional, courteous and informative on menu items and local sights to see. Our food order was prepared perfectly and it was a great start to a beautiful day on the island!

Yelp
Literally, I really enjoyed myself at Monkeypod kitchen. This was our first stop in Hawaii to eat for lunch option and I am so happy this was on our itinerary. The food was really good. I ordered the Caesar salad and the lobster deviled eggs. They're famous mai tai and we were fortunate to try the strawberry cheesecake dessert since it was my friend birthday. Food was amazing and delicious the lobster Deviled eggs was so good. Very flavorful and if you put the lime on top is even better. Mai tai was on point as well and the Caesar salad and the strawberry cheesecake was amazing so delicious I don't like dessert like that. Our server Tee was amazing and beautiful!! So much good ever with the best attitude.. I wish many were like her! She even let us move to an ocean view table that was perfect!! The ambiance is everything!! So serene and beautiful! I would recommend anyone who comes to Hawaii to try here!! No disappointment at all good food, service, and drinks!

Yelp
This was the most recommended restaurant we had during our whole trip. Literally everyone raves about this place. We came in and ate at the bar. Still a great view and the bartenders are really friendly. I got the burger and it was soooo delicious and juicy! The view is insane!

Yelp
Beautiful view with the ocean and diamond head, great service from the host and waitress, and a must try Mai Tai. I came at opening, 7am, to get a table with a view and while I wasn't against the railing, I still enjoyed my meal and was close enough to catch the sights. We had the special venison loco moco and the avocado toast. The mai tai looked so interesting, I couldn't pass it up, it was unique and really good. I was also now drunk by 7:15am. We really enjoyed the savory loco moco, it was filling and hardy. The bread really surprised us with flavor on the toasted, otherwise it would have been pretty underwhelming. Only downside, it's really expensive, but that's expected. We were going to add an egg to our toast, but that was an additional $7...like what? That's how much a dozen, if you're lucky, cost these days. I'd come back for the mai tai, an app, and the views.

Yelp
Always a nice place to get a drink and pupus whenever you're in Waikiki. Extensive variety of food, all very tasty. Service is excellent; friendly and always checking if you need anything. The atmosphere is very comfortable, a good place to get together with friends.

Yelp
Monkeypod Kitchen in Waikīkī is one of those spots that hits the perfect vacation vibe. The place is lively and fun, with seating that goes right up to the waves where you can watch people snorkeling just a few feet away. The view is unbeatable, and sitting right by the ocean makes every bite feel a little more magical. The ambience alone is worth the visit, but luckily the food holds up too. We wandered through a few little shops nearby while waiting for our buzzer, which made the wait feel like part of the experience. Once we were seated, we lucked out with Naomi as our server--she was beyond amazing. She double-checked everything related to our allergies, was super patient, and made us feel completely taken care of. I honestly wish every restaurant had a Naomi. Live music added to the atmosphere, but it was never too loud or distracting--just smooth, easygoing background beach vibes. We came during happy hour, which was a win because the non-seafood appetizers were discounted. I ordered the truffle fries and they were crispy, golden, and delicious. We also grabbed one of their pizzas for $15 during happy hour, and it was delicious--thin, crispy and full of lots of flavor. It's a great stop if you're visiting Hawaiʻi and want somewhere to chill with good food and even better views. Would absolutely come back again--and next time I'm getting even more food!

Yelp
My family and I used to go to Monkeypod so much when visiting Hawaii and I was super excited it was located in our hotel. When we had the opportunity to go here on our last night, I had to put our name down. It was about an hour wait for us because it was at peak hours. The vibes were immaculate with dimmed lighting and an amazing live singer that was belting songs. It definitely set the vibes listening to Hawaiian tunes. I ordered the cheeseburger and it was pretty good, the aioli was flavorful and memorable. Why I gave it 3 stars is the service was so bad. We couldn't ever get ahold of the waiter and they never stopped by. I would say this is a tourist trap and would rather go to Duke's instead.

Yelp
Our friend took us here after hyping it up as one of her favorite spots on the island - and I can certainly see why - it lived up to said hype. It's got the perfect ocean-side location with an expansive menu and dining room - and literally EVERYTHING we ate was incredible. But first let's highlight what we DRANK. Those Mai Tais are special. Seriously - the golden honey-lilikoi foam crowned with a thin sliced pineapple shaving made for such a fun decorative coronation to such a flavorful drink. Likely my second favorite Mai Tai of the whole trip - only to be surpassed by one I had on Kauai. As for entrees, everything was immensely sharable - generous portions (reflected in the prices $$$) with some terrific apps on Happy Hour (as for the drinks too). We ordered the Garlic Truffle Oil Fries and Taro Ravioli - highly recommend for your starters, but if you have to pick one, the Taro Ravioli is super unique and hearty. My partner ordered the Organic Macadamia Nut Crusted Fresh Fish - yes, it is pricey, but it was outstanding. One of very few items I would purchase for that same price again, no questions asked. Perfectly flaky and complimented well with a pile of greens, salsa, and rice. My entree was one of the specials - and I cannot for the life of me remember the kind of fish it was - but it was incredible (see pictured) - generously perched atop a seat of rice with some wonderful veggie swirls atop it. Our eyes were much bigger than our stomachs, which led us to also order the Kalua Pork & Pineapple Pizza which... in retrospect... was the perfect snack later on in the night after a few more drinks :) Our service was impeccable - the server remembered our friend from her few previous trips there with her family and treated us to a wonderfully flavor-packed coconut cream pie for dessert. So generous, attentive, and polite. If I'm back in Hawaii, I'm back here in a heartbeat. Thanks for a brilliant experience.

Yelp
Made reservations and they wished us a happy anniversary and threw in a dessert on the house, both classy moves that were well received. The selection was great and the food was top tier. Flavorful and filling, I was extremely satisfied with the presentation, taste, and portions. Lastly, the service was great, and the view is incredible. We were seated right by the ocean and could hear/see the waves crashing as we enjoyed our meal. The menu had keiki options and we plan on bringing the whole family so that they can run around the beach while we enjoy the view and some drinks.

Yelp
We sat next to the beautiful ocean view and the food was delicious. We really came here for the ambiance but overall was good

Yelp
You can't go wrong with Monkeypod. This location has incredible views. Service was good. Started with the taro ravioli. The flavor on this was so good with the chili oil at the bottom giving it just enough heat. Then I got the kale salad and had them put some pork on the side which I then put on my salad. It was great. We came back here right before we left for the airport and I got exactly the same thing. I was also very fond of the Lilikoi lemonde seltzer they had.

Yelp
This place is amazing!! On my last trip to the island, I visited this place more than once either for dinner or simply just sipping on their delicious Mai Tai at the bar while watching the ocean. This place truly knows how to make some great cocktails and the food was delicious as well. They have great happy hour menu and live music at the certain time as well. I'm a repeat customer when I'm back again to the island

Yelp
Having enjoyed several Monkeypod Mai Tai's when we last visited Maui, we were excited to enjoy more of them in Waikiki this week. That honey-lilikoi foam is the difference maker. Probably the only complaint about our meal was how long it took to serve the Mai Tai's. Our server said they have two bars and still can't keep up with the demand. Guess they need a third bar! The House Cut Fries are a great starter as you enjoy your first cocktail. My Ahi Steak was incredible. Prepared perfectly. Loved the mashed potatoes. Yum! My wife ordered the Broccoli and someone in the kitchen went a tad overboard with the chili flakes. We asked for it to be removed from our check. I appreciated the restaurant allowing us to change our reservation to 45 minutes later given a flight delay. Otherwise, we would have missed Monkeypod this visit. This place never disappoints!

Yelp
Fun open air concept restaurant located off the water in Waikiki. Service was quick and efficient after an hour wait for a table. The food for the children came out quickly - cheese pizza and fish with note of the allergens. Adults had the monkeypod mai tai in both its cocktail and mocktail versions with delicious honey-likikoi foam. My favorite item was the lamb and an additional side of the jalapeño mash. Also I was able to order the purple sweet potato pie off the menu and it was delicious.

Yelp
Everything is good here, tried the mac crusted fish of the day. Amazing.. Mai Tais amazing. The wait is incredible, but worth it if you can get in

Yelp
OMG the best Mai Tai's on the island. They use Organic Rum from a local distillery and a lychee mousse. The is spot gets busy with live music offerings as well. Make sure you make a reservation and are ready to wait because service gets pretty busy.

Yelp
Service started off rocky but recovered quickly after the drinks came out. Not sure what happened at the start but it improved. The food is good as well as the drinks. It's slightly over values in my option for what you get, but it's "fresh made" food. Note that you cannot see the fireworks from the restaurant dining area. They also have live music on weekend nights which creates a nice atmosphere.

Yelp
I didn't realize that Monkeypod was located in a hotel, so here's a heads up about that. We made reservations for my birthday dinner because the restaurant is baby-friendly. The view was amazing; although we weren't seated outside (which was fine since it was a bit windy), we were close enough to enjoy a nice view of the ocean. We ordered their seafood special, which was pink snapper with papaya salad, along with macadamia-crusted mahi mahi and a fish sandwich. Everything was delicious, and my daughter even enjoyed her cheesy pasta and broccoli. The service stood out to me the most and was exceptional. Our waitress was super friendly, helpful, and quick. There was also another waiter who played with my 1-year-old, which made the experience even more enjoyable. This restaurant is definitely baby-friendly, and it would encourage me to return. Since the restaurant is located in a hotel, parking is valet only, and the fee is about $15.

Yelp
We had a lovely dinner here--the food was excellent and the service throughout the evening was friendly and attentive. The view is absolutely stunning and really adds to the overall experience. Perfect spot for a special occasion. The only hiccup was with a surprise birthday cake I had dropped off earlier in the day for my husband. When I let our server know we were ready for it, she looked completely confused and had no idea what I was referring to. It took about 20 minutes before she returned and said they almost couldn't find it. It definitely put a bit of a damper on the surprise, which was a bummer considering the effort that went into planning. That said, everything else was top-notch. Just keep in mind--this place is very pricey, so come prepared. Overall, still a great experience, but with a little room for improvement on special requests.

Yelp
Every time we visit Hawaii, we make it a point to stop by Monkeypod for happy hour, and it never disappoints! This time, we ordered two pizzas, along with a few appetizers, all at happy hour pricing. Of course, we couldn't pass up their famous Mai Tai, which was also on special. Our server was incredible--super attentive, checking in regularly, making great recommendations, and keeping the conversation going in a fun and engaging way. The service really made the experience even better. The restaurant's beachside location offers stunning views, making for the perfect setting to enjoy good food and drinks. Monkeypod continues to be one of our must-visit spots in Hawaii, and we'll definitely be back next time!

Yelp
Absolutely the BEST Hawaiian food I've ever had! Every bite was packed with authentic island flavor -- from the perfectly seasoned fish to the melt-in-your-mouth. The portions were generous, the service was warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere made me feel like I was right in the heart of Hawaii. The incredibly fresh food and don't even get me started on the dessert -- pure perfection. If you're craving true Hawaiian comfort food, this is the place to be. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Had the Monkeypod years ago when we visited Maui. Apparently this location is the newest Monkeypod installation and is about 1.5 years old! The husband thinks the Maui location (the original) is still way better than this from what he remembered. His favorite drink to order at Monkeypod is their Monkeypod Mai Tai and it tastes a little off from what he remembered. Could be a change to the way its made or could be just the way its made here at this location. He ordered the Fresh Island Fish Sandwich, while I ordered the House-made Gnocchi. The Fresh Island Fish Sandwich he thought was pretty good. Its just a sandwich and has an extra cost for fries. No salad unless we ordered a whole salad. Gnocchi was unique, soft, and flavorful. There is an automatic 4% kitchen charge and they have live music! It was a relaxing experience we will continue to come back to!
