"Cooling off with a Blue Hawaii Everything about the Blue Hawaii cocktail at the Shore Bird Restaurant says "tropical island paradise." The icy blue color of the blue curaçao is enough to cool any sunburnt skin down and providing for a relaxed mood to enjoy the sun's decent into the Pacific Ocean. The Shore Bird is a breezy outdoor restaurant where you can grill your own food, or simply sip on a beverage and enjoy pupus (appetizers)."

Awesome waiter Kash. Amazing view. Had to work for my food, haha, grill it yourself is a cool experience. Very relaxing and don't feel rushed. Got to enjoy very cold beer after dinner as the sun began to set.

Old lady at front door ignored us for a few minutes while we were looking at her, food was OK, but not great.

I had to leave a review after seeing several reviews that frankly don't make sense. I've been to the Shorebird 20+ times. Service is always impeccable. Salad bar, Chili, Potato Salad is great and Yes--: this is a grill your own Protein place. Which is what they tell you every time you get to the restaurant and meet the hostess. So for those that don't get it or don't listen, leave and don't leave a review! This place isn't for you, it's for the other million of people that come here every year. I highly recommend the any of the items to grill, but I usually get the Sirloin, which is a great cut and always tender. They have spices, sauces , etc to make it perfect. As I grill my perfect steak, looking out at beautiful Waikiki beach and the sunset, I also grill some pineapple from the salad bar, and make my own grilled garlic bread. Another tip- is to check out their website before you go as there is always a buy one entre, get one for 50% off. Cannot beat that! Great service, food and location!!! Must go if staying in Waikiki.

Arrived at 4:00pm, asked if I had a reservation, .. No..., there will be 30 minute wait, ... OK... 4:30pm seated, approximately 50 some tables in the dinning area, all empty, seated in the bar area. Grill your own system explained, server arrived at the table at 4:52pm. Roughly an hour after arrival we finally have drinks and the open, all-you-can-eat salad bar is offered. More like a pasta bar, ended up with lettuce, onions, cheese and dressing, no tomatoes, no cucumbers, no sunflower seeds, no ham or bacon, none of the things I have come to expect as standard on a salad bar, nothing else looked appetizing. Salad finished along with drink, 10 minutes later server arrives with steaks, bread and mushroom and onions (more like mushrooms, mushrooms, mushrooms and onion). Let's cook, grill area very hot, seasonings are plentiful, but right next to the grill so it is very hot and difficult to season properly. Cooking times were adequately explained so that the food came out properly cooked and the steaks were cooked just as we liked them, but they were a little tough and not seasoned very well. Blame the cook right, oh yeah, we didn't have one. Premium price and I have to do the work. 3 or 4 times while eating I reached for my drink, oh yeah it was empty before I finished the salad. 3/4 of the way through the meal I finally get a refill on my drink. During the meal massive amounts of smoke from the grill keep blowing through the restaurant, better hope you have no breathing problems. Also being seated in the bar area we were subjected to load music more attuned to drinking that fine dining. Finished the meal and it takes more than 10 minutes to get the check. Finally almost 2 hours after our first arrival we escape this nightmare of a place. If I ever return to this state, I will never return to this restaurant. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Google
Love this place, you get to cook your own meal and a great salad bar. Make sure to get the papaya dressing if you're coming here, its amazing. The views of the ocean here are great. We had the steaks, which were very good. Our server was good, and the food was tasty (we did grill it ourselves!) Would defiantly reccomend, one of my favourite restaurants in Waikiki.

Google
Went there twice, the food was good but overpriced for food you have to cook yourself. I think $75 for small steak, lobster, and kabob. The first night the wait staff was on top of giving us drinks, and the late night happy hour was nice to my wallet. The second night, the service was slow, and the waiter didn't know when or what was included in the happy hour and we had to refer him to the drink menu on the table. The kareoke hosts were friendly.

Jeffrey S.

Google
Expensive and you have/get to cook your own meat. However it's really hot and smoky by the grill, and the chefs end up telling you how to do it or doing it all for you. The meat was fine, but not great. The salad bar was pretty good though. The prices were way too high and the drinks were mediocre.

Google
Google maps does not really show it's location. It is right on the beach. There is a boardwalk area going in the opposite direction with the Army Museum at the corner. This restaurant is right on the beach where you walk in from the sand into an open air bar and restaurant. We were a bit rushed but enjoyed a fast steak from the grill. They bring you the cut of meat and you take it to the grill and cook it the way you like it under the supervision of one of the chefs. The waitress and matradee were very friendly and accommodating. We had quick service, good food, and a wonderful view without any reservations (not recommended). We almost missed this place and were going to eat at the nearby Subway when I happened to ask a fellow veteran at the outside bar. Google maps should have this place pop up whenever you are in the area.

Yelp
I had the best experience with Mitchell as my server today. He had such a kind presence and helped me pick out what to drink with great recommendations. When stuck he asked me about my drink preferences. He helped me find a drink I absolutely loved. He checked it multiple times to ask if we were comfortable and to see if everything was tasting great. Everything was fresh and enjoyable. I will be back!

Yelp
My brothers friend told him that he had to try this place out so of course we did. It was later in the evening around 8:30pm so we thought it wouldn't be that busy but we were wrong. We had to wait about 20min which wasn't that bad. The place is off the main street area in Waikiki but not far. The restaurant is pretty big and overlooking the ocean which is cool. They had a guy playing music which was nice and he was pretty good. They sat us down near the kitchen at first but it was way too hot sitting in that area so we asked to be moved which after about a few minutes they moved us. We ordered some drinks right away which didn't take that long. Berry Good Thyme, Ai Ono, and the Monkeypod Mai Tai. All of the drinks were delicious. Most of us weren't that hungry so we just ordered a few dishes to share. We ordered the Bulgogi Pork Tacos, and Jawaiian Jerked Chicken. The dishes came out pretty quick which was nice. The chicken was cooked perfect, it was tender, and the flavor was outstanding. The sweet & spicy marinade, banana fritter, garlic rice, pineapple salsa all were a good compliment to the dish. The tacos were also delicious, tender, the Jalapenos gives it a little spice to it, and the sauce on it gave it the perfect blend of flavors to it. The service was reallly good and from the looks at all the staff their, they all seem to be on top of their game. Kudos. Definitely a place that you need to check out. I'm sure during the sunset, that place is where you could be eating and enjoying it.

Yelp
Came here with some friends for a semi- late dinner. It's better to get a reservation unless you're sitting at the bar. The views from this place are amazing in the day time, ocean right at your feet. The food here is always incredible. I saw they had a pizza with lobster on it, so I kindly asked if they could do the mushroom truffle pizza and add lobster on top only 9$ extra. One of my other favorite items is the ravioli, and ribeye with jalapeño mashed potatoes!

Yelp
Monkey pod offers front row seating to breathtaking ocean and Diamond Head views. I showed up without reservations for an early lunch. Ocean side was booked by others, so I was seated one table away. I watched the peaceful movement of sail boats and listened to the waves hit the shore. On man, it was nice. The menu offers a limited selection of fresh fish and meat dishes and pizzas. And of course lots of boozy beach drinks. The Happy Hour menu caught my eye with half priced apps, pizza specials, and discounted beer, wine and cocktails. I made a mental note of 3:30-5:00 for a future Happy Hour. Anyway, I ordered the fish and chips. All the fish dishes are made with mahi mahi. The fish was mild and flaky and the beer batter was fluffy. The hand-cut fries are delicious. The meal also included a small portion of an Asian style coleslaw. The slaw was good. Chelsi, my server was friendly and attentive. She checked on me and kept my water filled. The bill came and I was surprised by the 4% Kitchen Surcharge. I had heard of such surcharges, but never received one. I found it odd that the charge wasn't mentioned in the menu. I was actually annoyed by the charge as I felt all costs should be built in to the menu price (except tip, which I anticipate). Anyway, I didn't make a fuss, I just paid it. (Note to manager - please don't surprise me with charges.) Back to my review. Parking is a bear, you're going to pay for parking. I walked, so I didn't pay. The place is tricky to find, it's at the back of the Outrigger Resort. The food and ambiance are just spectacular. It's a perfect date spot - very romantic. I recommend reservations and request ocean side table. They have a kids (Keiki) menu and high chairs. I want to return to check out the Happy Hour!

Yelp
Our whole party of 10 decided to dine at Monkeypod Kitchen for dinner on our last night of vacation. Monkeypod Kitchen is all about the vibes with their amazing ocean views. We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort and Monkeypod Kitchen was just a short 10 minute walk along the beach which was so nice. We waited about 30 minutes or so for a table, which wasn't bad considering how busy they were at 6pm on a Sunday. Some of us were able to get a drink at the bar while we waited for our table and they also had tables outside of the restaurant to wait at as well. I loved the low lighting ambiance of Monkeypod Kitchen - it just felt very cozy and chill. They even had live music that just set the whole tone and vibe of the night. We ordered the Shrimp and Mushroom Potstickers to start and they were my favorite item we ate. The table also ordered Lobster Deviled Eggs and Poke Tacos - I tried the Lobster Deviled Eggs and while they were good, I couldn't really taste any lobster. For our entree, my husband and I ordered the Fish Tacos to share - they were good, but there was nothing too memorable about them. My daughter ordered the Kids Cheese Pizza and the homemade pizza sauce was great. My husband also ordered the Bartender's Special cocktail which he did not like at all, but I know the rest of the table liked their drinks. I heard Monkeypod Kitchen is known for their Mai Tai's! To end the night, we also ordered a slice of the Orange Cream Pie and the Banana Cream Pie - the orange was our favorite for sure. Overall, the food was good, but it was not my favorite of the entire trip. Our server was very attentive and sweet as well - I'm glad we got to check out Monkeypod Kitchen though - it was a great way to end our vacation in Hawaii!

Yelp
I have never been disappointed in the food here. I think this visit was by far my most memorable since it was my first time at the Waikiki location. The wait wasn't too long for not having a reservation. The food was so good. My husband and I shared the fish and lobster pasta as a main entree and the cast iron shrimp as an appetizer. The cast iron shrimp had a bit of a kick but was definitely good. The pasta was excellent. It was probably one of the top 5 best things that I ate while we were there. Ambiance was nice and chill. We enjoyed the live music so much. The musician played all the 90's jams. If you're wanting to have a good meal with friends or go on a date, this is the place for you. There's valet parking or you can park down the street in a parking lot.

Yelp
We came here for a New years and birthday celebration with family. Everyone was super nice and friendly. We loved Tru who went the extra mile for us to feel special. She is kind, fun, and made us feel special. Thank you Tru!!!! We had the old fashion which was a world class distinctly made cocktail. We had ahi tacos for appetizer and the Korean tacos and fish n chips for dinner. Everything was delicious and tasty. The restaurant is up close and open to the ocean. They had great live music. The vibe was warm, welcoming and aloha spirit. The staff was fantastic!!!!

Yelp
Monkeypod Kitchen Waikīkī is one of those places that feels just as welcoming to visitors as it does to locals. Located beachside with an open-air layout, it's the perfect spot to enjoy the island breeze, fresh air, and a laid-back Waikīkī vibe. We arrived hungry and didn't want to wait for a regular table, so we grabbed seats at the bar--which turned out to be a great choice. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food came out quickly. I went with the cheeseburger and truffle fries, while my dining mates ordered a salad and the fish and chips. Everything was delicious and very satisfying--comfort food done well. Of course, we couldn't leave without dessert. We shared a slice of strawberry pie made with strawberries from Kula, and it was the perfect way to end the meal.

Yelp
Food, drinks, service and ambiance were all great on our Saturday evening visit. Definitely make a reservation. Our plan to sit at the bar... we heard waits could be up to 2 hours sometimes. We enjoyed the Monkeypod mai tais and garlic truffle fries at the bar. Then we moved to a table with an amazing water view. Drinks continued - Manhattan for him, No Ka Ois fire me. We enjoyed the potstickers, and my macnut crusted Mahi Mahi. His Jawaiian jerk chicken was good, yet a bit too salty. We finished with the strawberry pie. Oh my goodness - it was so delicious!!! Our Lyft driver told us to save room for it... and that locals go just for pie. So we're passing along the advice!

Yelp
I thought this place would be a tourist trap, however, I was pleasantly surprised that it was not. It is genuinely good food and good vibes! The ahi tuna tacos are light and refreshing, the blackened chicken is seasoned so well and very tender, and the Kalua pig and pineapple pizza is amazing. It's a little bit spicy and has a lot of flavor and the crust is nice and crispy. We also tried the strawberry pie, which was absolutely amazing and worth every single penny. It is one of the best pies I've ever had, and it is kind of like a very light cheesecake. Our server was so nice and attentive, she was extremely busy because the entire restaurant was packed, however, she consistently checked in on us. I will say the food takes a little bit of time to come out, given how busy they are. However, the vibes are great, the views are great, and it's just a good place to relax and get a meal.

Yelp
Last minute place to find and eat so walked up and asked if they had availability it was about a 20 minute wait not bad... Place is near the beach and you can see the Waikiki Fireworks if you just walk outside of it..... The waitress was really cool and friendly....the overall vibe is really good in there just a bit noisy but heck you are in Waikiki... I had the Vegan Tortilla Soup it was good. The Mushroom and Truffle Oil Pizza was really good the dough was spot on for what I prefer as well....chewy with a some crispiness on the outside... Definitely a place to go back to!

Yelp
Awesome vibes with ocean views! There was awesome live music from Jasmin, the guitarist with a lovely voice! The Mai Tai was made perfectly, and my wife loved the No Ka Oi cocktail. The Mushroom Pizza and Kalua Pork Pineapple Pizza were delicious! The Roasted Wings were ok. The Coconut Cream Pie was amazing! We loved the homemade crust. Our server Sarah was super friendly! Good vibes here!

Yelp
What a heavenly view! The place is breathtaking for a breakfast with a beautiful view of the ocean. Highly recommend. The food was great too. Although I ended up gulfing it all down without taking a picture, the avocado toast was a bliss. So much avocado and the sweet flavoring on top was amazing. Also the Kanaka Coffee was amazing as well if you like a little bit of a sweet drink with caffeine in it. Just enough to wake you up. Also the service was quick despite the ridiculously busy Christmas vacation crowd. Would recommend.
google avatar

Natalia O.

Yelp
Made reservations for Christmas Eve and had a lovely dinner with live music and seating by the water (put in a request on the reservation)! The vibes are great. It's inside the outrigger hotel and has a cute ambiance especially with the waterfront views. Now for the food.... I've had some incredible food in Waikiki and although this was good it wasn't anything exceptional. We had the pork/pineapple pizza which had a good crunchy yet thin and soft crust. The bulgogi tacos were tasty and the tortilla was soft and warm. Unfortunately, the fish and chips were a *horrible* dish. Please do not waste $31 on an inedible dish.

Yelp
From checking in to get a table to check out everything was fantastic! Very friendly service, delicious food and drinks- can't beat the view! We came for lunch. Fish & chips as well as the burger. A local brew and a zero proof pina colada.

Yelp
After perusing yelp and reddit for notable brunch places, we decided to come here! I liked that the restaurant is right next to the water. The view is gorgeous. Seating was interesting. I guess they seem to prefer reservations. It did take maybe 5-10 minutes to get seated even though they had plenty of seating available and it was not busy. They seated us and the sun was in our face, so we had to ask to be seated somewhere else. They had to check in with another staff member to see if it was ok, so that was interesting. I'm glad they did relocate us, because I probably would not have enjoyed my meal as much... They had a happy hour for cocktails, but we decided to hold off, since we had binged a lot on our vacation. We ended up ordering the lilikoi blueberry pancakes (this was recommended over the other option we considered) and the taro hash. I think the nice part of the lilikoi blueberry pancakes was that the fruits were pretty fresh. The lilikoi sauce was pretty sour, and I probably would have liked it to have a bit more sweetness in there. The taro hash was pretty average. I was really hoping for the hash to be crispy, but it was more on the soggy side. I guess if you are staying at Outrigger you get some discount or free breakfast? They did ask if we were staying there, but unfortunately we were not. Service was very friendly. Overall, I think both dishes were so-so; I guess the ambiance adds a bit to the experience.

Yelp
Monkeypod this, Monkeypod that. I was surprised to hear that it was top of mind for most of the people I talked to when I mentioned I was going to Hawaii, everyone from my coworker to my Uber driver when we were pulling up to my hotel on Kālia Road in Waikiki. (Well, I guess it makes sense for him to have said that, as the Monkeypod Kitchen is literally on the premises of the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort. But could this hotel restaurant really be that amazing to warrant being the first recommendation from someone who didn't even stay at the hotel?) First, we ate here for lunch. We started with the Hamakua Mushroom & Truffle Oil pizza for the table. You can't go wrong with a mushroom and truffle pizza and it's even better when it's made with local mushrooms. (They're technically flown over from the Big Island, but who needs to know?) The thyme was an especially nice touch and as a wishy-washy garlic fan, I'm happy to report that the flavor wasn't overwhelming. The fish and chips though? Definitely a flop. They're on the menu as Pete's Fish & Chips and I kinda think that Pete would be disappointed to have his name attached to them. Not even the tartar sauce that came on the side could rescue the fish as it was bland with a capital B. For being freshly caught fish, I was definitely disappointed and found myself wishing that I had gone with the fish tacos instead. Luckily, I think Pete's shift had ended by the time we stopped by the bar later that night for a round (or two...) of drinks. The special cocktails on the menu are made with local ingredients and cover off on the four main liquors, so there's bound to be something for everyone, as long as you're willing to part with $19 for each craft cocktail. Try to get a table by the window if you're eating in -- you can literally enjoy beautiful sea views from where you're seated!

Yelp
A group of us decided to hit MonkeyPod in Waikiki on the beach for the happy hour specials. We put in for a reservation since there were six of us. A couple folks ordered drinks and the rest had water. The staff kept the water glasses full which was much appreciated. We ordered the food from the happy hour menu, we ordered truffle fries, Hamakua Mushroom and Truffle Oil pizza, Marguerite pizza and a Kalua Pork and Pineapple pizza. Loved the twice fried truffle french fries, they were great tasting. The pizza crust was light and all of the pizzas were fresh, light cuisine and excellent flavor. You get a great view of the ocean with attentive service, good drinks, live music and tasty happy hour dishes at a reduced price.

Yelp
We had reservations for my husbands birthday and I was pleasantly surprised to get an amazing seat right at the Waters edge in the far right corner. We were able to see the waves hit the sand and the sun set beautifully. It is located inside the Outrigger, which is a beautiful hotel. We got there early, but there's plenty of seating around to wait. We opted for the bar by the pool, which is great by the way. As we walked in, we can hear the nice music being played by a live musician. You can hear the music throughout the restaurant as there are speakers throughout. We started off with a pork and jalapeño pizza as an appetizer. The crust is thin, but soft and crunchy and the cheese was so good. The jalapeños added a great touch to the pork as well. I ordered the Bulgogi tacos, which were amazing. I will say it did take a while for our main course and I noticed that my food come out a bit cold, but it was still really good. I think our waiter noticed our food took a while to arrive because he did apologize for the delay. My husband got the fish sandwich which was very juicy and tasted great. All the flavors and textures went really well together. They surprised him with his choice of pie for his birthday. He decided on the banana cream pie and it was delicious. The bananas tasted very fresh and the pie wasn't overly sweet. Overall, we had a great experience. Our waiter was very friendly and checked on us often. I definitely recommend this spot.

Yelp
The happy hour deals themselves are solid: pizzas for a flat price and most pupus at half off make it an easy choice if you're already in Waikiki and don't want to commit to full dinner prices. Pizzas were just okay - crust and toppings were fine but nothing that really justified the hype, while the pupus (wings, tacos, small bites) landed better and felt like the better value during that 3:30-5:00pm window. Overall, it's worth a stop for happy hour pizzas and pupus if you're nearby and want drinks with a view, but between the crowds, hit-or-miss service, and "good not great" food, it lands at three stars for now.

Yelp
This place is super busy. Hard to get same day reservations. We showed up 15 mins early and saw that it was pretty hectic at the reception desk. I can tell it's the blind leading the blind there. No one seems to know anything! Our group arrived 15 mins early to our 715pm reservation. Girl told me they are running behind on reservations. Now if you're going to tell a customer that then be prepared to answer their next question......how long is the wait (I asked)? She didn't even know. She asked the girl next to her and I can tell she didn't know either. So they tell me its going to be 40 mins. I'm fine with that since we were 15 mins early anyways. They actually sat our group down after 20 mins which wasn't bad at all. Our server was Nicholas. I think that's his name since thats the name on the bill. He was great. Very thorough and attentive. Always checked on us as busy as he was. The drinks were ok. Nothing to rave about. I had the fresh island fish sandwich which was good but small and not filling. No comments on all the other dishes except for the Saimin. The Saimin was horrible!!! Super salty!! It wasn't my entree but I had a taste. Yuck!! I would have sent it back. Not sure if I would go back. They have a lot of good reviews here but it really isn't all that considering all the restaurant options in Waikiki.

Yelp
Food was so worth the hype! Seriously get the jalapeño mashed potatoes!!! It was very loud and crowded but it calmed down when live music started. Make sure have a reservation for dinner because it does fill up quick. Staff was sweet and timely!

Yelp
I love this location for breakfast brunch . The views are breathtaking and the food was delicious. The service was amazing . From the moment we sat to the hospitality, we really felt like part of the Ohana here . Our server was kind and we felt comfortable sharing life stories . I love feeling like we are part of the island even when we are visiting from the main land , it's important to eat at the right eatery because bad service and food can really ruin trip expectations. I enjoyed their Mahi Thai while looking at the ocean and relaxing in the salty ocean breeze. The avocado toast with over easy eggs were delicious and the baked potato's were very flavorful.

Yelp
The atmosphere here is an absolute 10/10. Monkeypod sits right along the ocean, offering gorgeous views that make the entire dining experience feel special. If you come during sunset, be prepared -- the sun can be blinding at certain angles, so sunglasses are definitely recommended. But once you settle in, the ocean breeze is unbeatable and truly sets the tone for a beautiful evening. Service for us was just average. We arrived about 10 minutes before happy hour and placed our drink orders immediately. Unfortunately, our drinks didn't arrive until well after happy hour had already begun, yet we were still charged full price. Not the end of the world, but definitely a little disappointing. As for the food... I've never been more let down by a menu with such potential. We tried the poke tacos, taro ravioli, chicken wings, and truffle fries. Every single dish was completely flavorless -- bland to the point where it was genuinely surprising. Nothing stood out, nothing was seasoned, and nothing made us want to order again. Overall, Monkeypod is worth visiting for the view, the ambiance, and maybe a cocktail while soaking up the ocean breeze. But I personally would not return to eat here again. The atmosphere is stunning -- the food, unfortunately, is not.

Yelp
3.5 stars Monkeypod Kitchen is a restaurant chain that opened in 2011 and now has multiple locations across the Oahu and Maui islands. This location is in Waikiki with an open-air vibe, a large bar, TVs throughout, and spectacular open views of the water. You might even be able to get seated right up against the barrier where the waves crash up. One of their popular cocktails is the monkeypod mai tai ($19) which includes their honey-lilikoi foam on top. I also ordered the old fashioned touch ($19) which was more tart and sour than a typical old fashioned due to the li-hing lemon peel shrub. They have daily happy hour from 3:30-5pm which includes half off appetizers, $15 pizzas, $2 off draft beers, $3 off glasses of wine, and $4 cocktails. If you're able to, I'd highly recommend getting a table that gives sunset views because the restaurant is in a prime location for them.

Yelp
We went tonight and loved the views. Book a reservation and try to be there during sunset. We liked the lobster deviled eggs, potstickers, bulgogi tacos and of course their famous mai tais. They brought out a delicious cheesecake for my birthday. The portions are small overall, and expensive, so I would try to pick larger meals next time. Service was quick considering how busy they were. This is a Waikiki must try, with an unmatched view of the pacific.

Yelp
You're definitely paying for the ambiance here - and it's worth the visit. Primarily outside patio seating with perfect sunset views and also a view of Diamondhead. Food was very good - the Jawaiian chicken was some of the best we had during our vacation. The Monkeypod Mai tai didn't live up to the hype for me. And with the pineapple shortage during our stay, they couldn't make a lava flow. The potstickers were just ok. Poke tacos were good. Service from Richard was excellent. He was friendly and tolerant of me. :) My reservation overlapped for the time of the sunset and we didn't get a table of the rail since I'm sure everyone was trying to do the same thing. Next time, I would just book a table just past sunset since we had seen so many already. It looked to be easier to get a table during that time.

Yelp
Wonderful happy hour 3-5. 1/2 off appetizer's, although you can't have that on any seafood on the happy hour. So out of like 10 appetizers, only 3 do not have seafood....... $15 pizzas but not the one with lobster. The pizzas were delicious. Got the mushroom truffle which I absolutely loved. And my friend got the pork. The pork had jalapeños and pineapple. The jalapeños had the seeds in them which made a bite with jalapeno fire!!!! Very spicy. Happy hour is $3 off wine. I had 2 glasses of wine and it was not a big pour, small pour. And $32 which is insane. I'd eat here again but skip the drinks We got to enjoy live music while we ate which was nice. The Temperature was perfect as well. Nice breeze. We had about a 30 min wait, which wasn't terrible

Yelp
Not very ono Although the place has a wonderful view, the server was fine, and our waters remained full, the food was not very good, especially for the price. Our pork bulgogi tacos were way too saucy, so much so that they were hard to eat. 2 of our 5 meals were these tacos, so we ended up paying and getting dinner #2 elsewhere.

Yelp
This is our third time at a MP but first in Waikīkī We came for NYE dinner and did not disappoint. Tasty, fresh, really interesting flavor combinations. Staff was superb and very helpful. Mai Thai as per usual hit the spot just right. The Kalua pork pizza, special snapper dish, and truffle pizza were our standouts this time. Sad they ran out of lobster but ces le vie! All in all a wonderful spot no matter what Island you are on!

Yelp
Highly recommend Monkeypod Kitchen for a great brunch with overlooking the Diamond head and amazing blue water of Waikiki. Service was spectacular thanks to Zackary!! We ordered a few drinks and they were all tasty. The best part was the food. We ordered the following: Kalua pork and pineapple pizza Fish tacos Food was delish. Tip: they have a happy hour from 330-5pm! We gotta go back to check out during happy hour.

Yelp
4 stars for the Lilikoi mai tai - strong and tasty! 3 stars for the food Our group got 2 orders of fish and chips, a pizza and fish tacos. Everything food-wise was just mediocre. Service was friendly and quick. View was awesome. Definitely recommend going during sunset for pretty views!

Yelp
Not only was the food delicious at Monkeypod, their award winning Mai Tai was delicious!! We heard a lot about the famous Mai Tai from Monkeypod and wanted to give it a try. The Mai Tai is unique as it has lilikoi foam on top. The tart flavor of the foam mixed with the drink itself was super unique and tasty. We got the macadamia crusted fish and the fish and lobster pasta. The crusted fish was delicious and super tender. The pasta was delicious as well, although wasn't as unique as other dishes were. The lobster on the pasta was extremely tender and cooked perfectly! Overall, I would highly recommend checking out Monkeypod and getting a mai tai at the very least!

Yelp
Outrigger Reef Waikiki has a gem with this restaurant!!! Thanks to my travel package from Costco, I was able to have breakfast here everyday if my stay and each meal was delicious with an even better view. The pancakes are a must try despite not being included on the voucher menu, the Liliko'i ones embody the ideal Hawaiian trip!! The POG juice and crispy breakfast potatoes are also stars. Some servers were willing to offer modifications on the voucher menu more than others. Given differing diets I wish there were some approved swaps like extra egg or avocado instead of meat on the chilaquiles-- or offer a vegetarian meat option. Also, sometimes the wait for a table and for food might exceed 20 minutes especially if you have a larger group or want water front seating. If you are under a time crunch, the bar is full service and has good views. Just be careful on high tide days as the water might splash up as a surprise along the window.

Yelp
My lunch here was the best lunch I had during my entire Hawaii trip! The fresh fish sandwich I had was INCREDIBLE. The fries here were so good, too. They also put a fun spin on the Mai Tai with this gorgeous fruity foam. Highly, highly recommend!

Yelp
I've been to Monkeypod on Maui numerous times so I thought it'd be a good idea to give this newer location a try. The food quality is pretty much the same- go for the pizzas and their famous mai tai. The views are great, it's literally right on the beach. Everyone from the host and the servers are amazing and welcoming. It's a pretty large restaurant but can get crowded around happy hour, so I would suggest making reservations instead of walking in.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place, but the food was simply okay for what we paid for. We did get seated near the ocean views so that was a major bonus. The cocktails were also quite good. We've gone to Monkeypod Kitchen in the past on the Maui island and had a great experience, so when we saw one here we wanted to go back. Unfortunately the two locations don't really compare. The broccoli side was too heavily seasoned and the margarita pizza was quite basic and the tomato sauce used was more sweet than acidic. My husband got the fish tacos, which I think he liked, but wasn't necessarily over the moon about. For dessert, I really wanted to try one of their pies and we ended up picking the strawberry one. Other than the thinly sliced strawberries tasting fresh, the rest of the pie was more whipped cream than anything else. From other photos posted on Yelp, I thought there'd be more of the crust to eat with it to balance out the cream, but nope! The crust was quite a thin line of almost no existence. Overall, the atmosphere, ocean views, cocktails and wait service was good / amazing, but the food itself really was a let down. And honestly, if it wasn't for us sitting so close to the views I probably would have given this a lower rating.

Yelp
Went to the Monkey pod are last night in Hawaii. Great way to end the night. The Mai Tai is delicious, the foam on top makes it unique, very tasty. The service was good for a packed house. I had the macadamia nut crusted fish and it was very good. Lots of flavor and the mango salsa complimented the dish nicely. Great decor, comfortable seating, and the view is amazing.

Yelp
The service here is excellent and make you feel welcome for sure! This place is definitely worth the hype. I got one of the pizzas and it was so good. The drinks are also very good.

Yelp
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent!!! We went here through a suggestion from our daughter. She had been to the location on Maui and fell in love with it. We went for breakfast and had a great experience. I got the The Cure-Sun noodles, kalua pork, poached egg, red chili, chicken broth, ginger, bok choy, mushrooms, red onion, carrots, bean sprouts. This was so amazing!!! My wife got The Classic-Eggs your way, smashed potatoes, and choice of house-made breakfast sausage, duroc pork bacon, or avocado. Another great choice. The dining room has ocean front seating. We sat along a glass wall with amazing views of the ocean. Absolutely beautiful!! Our servers took care of everything! Service was fast and friendly. Probably the best service we had while on Oahu. Great job!

Yelp
Service was amazing! I ended up having to take my food for takeout but the server was extremely accommodating and conversational as I waited for my whole table to arrive. The pork pizza was delicious. I'm not a fan of work but this one was soft and tender. It melts in your mouth. The peppers added to the texture and flavor. I'd definitely recommend this spot! They have an amazing outlook as well

Yelp
First time at Monkeypod kitchen in Waikiki! I have eaten at the original Monkeypod kitchen, but this location is much better!! See that review for further details. I know what you're thinking, it's located in Waikiki so you have to deal with additional headache of parking, but it was worth it. My husband and I came here for lunch and I had Pete's fish and chips and and he had the fresh caught fish tacos. We split the strawberry cream pie for dessert. The fish and chips were so good! The fish had a tempura batter which was light and not too thick. The fish was perfectly cooked and was moist and not dry at all! It came with a malt vinegar aïoli which hit the spot and the fries were crispy and tasty. Everything came out piping hot. My husband also enjoyed the fish tacos. Fish is super fresh. For dessert, we had the strawberry cream pie. It's mostly cream with a thin layer of strawberries over the top, but it was very refreshing and not too sweet. Perfect dessert to end a relaxing lunch. Our waiter was very attentive, and gave us good suggestions for lunch options. Definitely want to come back and try some other things. Also the prices for lunch seemed much more reasonable than the dinner prices I remember at the original restaurant.

Yelp
Very cool resturaunt with awesome views of the sunset and beach! Pretty expensive as everything in Hawaii but well worth it. Saimen is yummy and they have the best Mai Ti's on earth! Service was super friendly and lots of Aloha

Yelp
Monkeypod was referred to us visitors for wonderful mai tais and the views (directly on the ocean). It's in one of the many Outrigger hotels in Waikiki, which isn't hard to find. It's just a little maze to get from the street to the restaurant entrance. It was a little late past dinner service so we were able to be immediately sat against the glass wall to take in the sunset/ evening ocean views. Our server Emily was the best - nice to chat with and genuinely seems like a cool human. She walked us thru the food and drink menu but 2 of us 3 musketeers were there just for drinks (Mai Tais). One got the fresh fish tacos since she hadn't eaten yet and they looked amazing (she said they were just that). The second round - my friends were feeling adventurous and each got a White Walker (gin, coconut drink) at her recommendation. that wasn't horrible (I got a sip), but I'm glad I got another Mai Tai. Chalk another reason why Emily is a cool human - she offered us a slice of the house rice breaker pie because she loved our vibes. You can't say no to homemade pie. If we were there longer probably would have returned just to sit in Emily's section and enjoy more of the menu and her good vibes.

Yelp
We wanted a restaurant with a nice ocean view and Monkeypod was a great choice. It's located inside the Outrigger near the back of the hotel. The restaurant is huge with large open area to see the ocean. There are a couple of tables right along glass wall. The view from the tables were gorgeous. We loved looking out at the blue waters and see the waves splashing along the wall. The menu was more modern Hawaiian food. We got the poke tacos, kalua pork pizza, and lobster pasta. We also got the kids saimin and burger. The pizza was great. The pesto, pork and pineapple paired well together. The lobster and fish pasta were fresh, and the lobster tender. The kids loved the saimin noodles and the burger was also a hit. We also got some mai tais and the alcohol was definitely in there! Service was great and loved their vibe. They were very accommodating of some of the request we made. Couple of things to note is that the restaurant does have a special valet pricing of $15. And the bathrooms closest to the restaurant are the don't require a keycard to enter.

Yelp
Monkeypod was a great place to have a birthday dinner! My husband requested a table by the water but not too close, in case the sun was too hot, and the staff delivered a perfect view. The service was phenomenal and they even brought out a complimentary dessert for the celebration :) We tried the Jawaiian Jerked Chicken and Hamakua Wild Mushroom & Truffle Oil Pizza. Both dishes were absolutely out of this world, especially the pizza. Was a very nice experience!

Yelp
We really enjoyed our time at MonkeyPod & our waiter Conor! We made a reservation a few weeks ahead of time and even though it was very busy inside were promptly seated at the time of our reservation. We heard they were well known for their Mai Tai's so we tried those & some ahi tuna tacos to start off as an appetizer. We had the Saimin & macadamia nut crusted fish which were both really delicious. We also were celebrating a birthday so we got to try the banana cream pie which was a great way to finish off the meal.

Yelp
For Christmas Eve, we spent our late lunch at Monkey Pod Waikiki. Located inside Outrigger Reef Hawaii Resort overlooking the shorelines of Waikiki with a Diamond Head view. Once entering the main lobby, wall straight to the back passing the pool and you'll find the restaurant. We had reservations late afternoon and it was fairly steady but not to crazy busy. They had a schedule of live music set for 3 different musicians 2 hrs each spread out right starting at happy hour (3:30p) till closing so we got to enjoy that as well! Usually our spot is the Koolina location so we were happy to have a change of scenery. Ocean and sunny views on a beautiful Christmas Eve day! If you have a stroller, you park it up front near the hostest stand. We were seated 10 min before our reservation time and ordered our usual ono grinds. Garlic Truffle Fries, taro ravioli, potstickers, (sometimes we get the ahi poke tacos but not today), mushroom pizza (margarita pizza is good too!), keiki cheeseburger with fries, fish tacos, crusted macadamia nut fish, seared ahi, (prime rib is also good!) and some non-alcohlic and alcoholic drinks. For dessert our go to is the Banana Cream Pie, Strawberry cream pie, and for the first time had Coconut cream pie. If you havent tried their pies before, you must try one at least once in your life! Its so light and delicious. This location doesnt disappoint with all of their food! When happy hour started at 330p we were also able to add on with happy hour prices! Evan was our waiter and he was such a joy to have. He was prompt with our orders and requests, courteous, and he was also happy to handle my dad's "local dad jokes". If you have him, you'll be taken care of well.

Yelp
MK is the all day dining option at the Outrigger Reef Waikīkī next to our condos. I went to the MK in Lahainā and was not impressed. On the other hand, this location not only has a great view of the beach, it also has great service. Geoffrey was a super cool bartender, and took great care of us. We didn't have food, but maybe next time. They had Fortaleza tequila that is hard to get at the liquor outlets, or at your neighborhood bar. The bar area is real nice and long. You have access to the full menu. I look forward to returning the next time I visit home.
