Yelp
Chose Shorty's after reading so many really good reviews. Unfortunately I did not get the same great service they seem to be known for. I needed the sweatband reattached in my vintage Spanish/American US Army slouch hat. The renovation sounded like a good idea so I left it with then after explaining in detail about the drooping brim and that I wanted the crease to be 'as before'. Upon picking up the hat I was sorely disappointed. As explained to me, None of my instruction were passed on to whoever reno'd it. It was treated as a modern day cowboy hat. The brim was totally flat, a NEW sweatband was installed. No pictures were taken before rework (I was told pics would be taken), a liner had been installed (original hat had no liner). The gentleman tried to get the droop back with steam but was unable to. Actually told me the owner would not let a hat leave the shop unless the brim was flat. I told him the hat was not supposed to have a liner, he said he could fix that, whereas he reached in, grabbed the liner and ripped it out leaving remnants of material sticking out of glue and around the grommets that were not supposed to be replaced, To Shorty's credit, The employees I met when I took the hat in were some of the most friendly and attentive ppl I have met. It's just disappointing that the ball was dropped down the line.
