15 Best Coffee Shops in Sydney | Condé Nast Traveler

"Off the beaten track in Manly’s back streets, Showbox Coffee Brewers is a small, industrial-style café with tables indoors and window seats spilling onto the pavement outdoors. Named after iconic Seattle music venue The Showbox, it takes its cue from the grunge and punk movements, with black-and-white photos of performances and drinks named after bands. And the guys who run it are pretty deep into the coffee scene, offering a house blend (Twin Peaks by Melbourne roastery Wood and Co.), a single origin from Ethiopia, and a batch brew filter coffee from Kenya (care of New Zealand’s Coffee Supreme)." - Sophie Davies

I went there for breakfast before exploring Manly. The breakfast sandwich and flat white coffee were delicious, and the service staff was friendly and helpful. I got a table without a problem. I'd have breakfast there again!

Google
Fantastic atmosphere, incredible small batch coffees that rotate frequently, and an amazing experience all around. Thank you Sunny/Sonny for both the fantastic pour over, and the great conversation. Came as a stranger, left feeling like a local. Highly recommend these guys, whether you're a local, or just visiting.

Exceptional cafe with the kindest new owners, Stacy & Sunny. Chef Eric whips up French style egg dishes & delicious brekkies. Fresh & elegant pastries. Coffee is sooo good. Truly went here every AM for a week before leaving town.

For coffee enthusiasts seeking a high-quality café experience, Showbox coffee in Manly is definitely worth a visit. Their single-origin Guatemalan beans are particularly noteworthy last week, with a smooth and rich flavor that lingers on the palate. Additionally, their house blend is a delight, boasting a perfect French roast that is rich and aromatic. The café itself has a hip and casual atmosphere, offering ample seating, including some comfortable windowsill options. The food menu is a fusion of modern Australian cuisine with a Middle Eastern twist, featuring a range of delicious and interesting dishes. What's more, the service is both fast and friendly, with a welcoming smile that adds to the overall experience. In summary, if you're looking for a café that offers high-quality coffee, a great atmosphere, and a fusion food menu, Showbox coffee is definitely worth considering.

Google
Industrial vibe with its cement walls and exposed pipes and ducting on the ceiling. I love the logo. Would have gotten the T-shirt the baristas were wearing if they were on sale. Not the best latte art but the coffee was good. Breakfast offerings looked good. Nice quiet place to go back to.

Yelp
The food was fresh and delicious. The coffee was really good too. They easily accommodated my dairy free request. The staff were extremely helpful and the right amount of attentive. Even provided water without asking. Nice decor with right level and type of music. Would definitely come back!!

Yelp
Niiiice vibe, good coffee & deliiish Avo on toast! The brick facade inside is very San Francisco~ish which we like since that's where we're from. Our server is quite theater like in appearance, just lovely

Yelp
Great little gem with the most delicious full bodied coffee. I got the espresso macchiato while others got a long Mac and Strong Latte. The lunch choices were quite tasty as well. If you are looking for an outdoor feel with a family vibe... this is the place to be.

Yelp
Best coffee in Manly by far. We came by on a semi daily basis to get a fix. The staff is friendly and warm and the avocado toast wasn't bad either!

Yelp
Thank you Yelpers. You brought me to this treasure! Walked in & loved the music. Walked in & loved the decor. Walked in & loved the smell. Navigated my way round some regulars who were waiting for their before work brew. Grabbed one of the smaller tables. Friendly waitress offered to organise a coffee if I'd like one. Menu arrived. I opted for blueberry & ginger pancakes, but this is a place where you definitely work your way through the menu. (I've already decided to return tomorrow whilst I'm still in the area. Free WiFi for customers, so I'm writing this review on the spot. I've been for a walk along the beach & witnessed a gorgeous sunrise. And now this! Life is good. And my friends that's what I would suggest. Get you hit of cub, surf or sunrise & then wander back a block to this little piece of heaven. My baked pancake has arrived .....

Yelp
Awesome cafe in Manly. It's a little bit off the corso but worth the short walk. The coffee is great, the baristas know their stuff and offer a good variety of coffees beans and coffee types and the like. They may as well be sommeliers. The food they offer caters to all, they have food for health nuts and dude food, but refined dude food. I had the kebab (who would have thought of putting a kebab on a lunch menu) and it was pretty freaking awesome. My friends ordered Pegg Roll and Boston Burger and thoroughly enjoyed them as well...though note the Boston Burger is pulled pork and not beef. This place could fit right in the inner west, Surry Hills, or Melbourne.

Yelp
In a nutshell this place is awesome! This little cafe is a must stop if you are in the area, just off the main road in Manly, it is worth the detour. Trust me! First the glorious coffee! Serving Mecca coffee for all white coffee drinkers, and San Isidro for espresso - you can truly bathe in this coffee. After finishing your cup you are going to want to like it clean. Great cup of coffee - and the most important is that they are consistent. I've gotten a good cup each time. Now the food... so for lunch, I was tossing up between the beef burrito or the fish burger. I know what you are thinking, always go the burrito. However, as one of the workers there informed me, in this case go the fish burger. With a jar of pickles on the side and salt & vinegar crisps on top, this is one serious burger. This is probably one of the best fish burgers I've had - just putting that out there. I think the cherry on top of the coffee, fish burger cake, is the staff. Seriously friendly and always attentive. I honestly can't find one thing wrong with this place. Hence it deserves 5 stars. However, it is small, so you might not be able to find a seat, but don't fret, they do take away!

Yelp
One of my favorite places for coffee take away in Manly. Nice staff, excellent coffee and apparently great food as the place gets really crowded inside. Have to try that sometime. Coffee prices are within the usual Sydney standards.

Yelp
Seriously - the concept is good, the coffee is good but you better have time on your hands because boy oh boy are these guys slow on the service. Rarely do they move fast and in the mornings it's a killer. Come here frequently because it's close but have had enough of the slow service so might be time to go somewhere else.

Yelp
This is a relatively recent addition to the Manly cafe scene and it is awesome. Tucked away in one of the bylanes in Manly,it does not offer the views but definitely knows its food. The food is interesting and experimental without going overboard with it. The focus is on fresh produce with quiet a few current favorites of the superfood brigade featuring on it as well. The menu is inspired from different cuisines and offers interesting options such a quinoa tacos to tuna sashimi and avocado and cacao milkshake. I had the quinoa tacos which were generously topped with delicately poached chicken, crispy prosciutto and fresh pineapple, all mixed together in a some delicious sauce. We also tried their basic breakfast which had a perfect soft boiled egg on top of sourdough toast, loaded with delicious avocado, cheese, and some other wonderful stuff! The focus is on flavours here and they know how to balance them. The coffee is great and is supplied by roasters Rueben Hill..There is a good selection of takeaway muffins, cakes and the much popular cronut as well! Showbox has a very urban warehouse, almost industrial look to it, and not the beachy white and blue decor that is there in most places in Manly. It's more reflective of the Surry Hills style of cafes with shared communal tables and open airy space. Try it and you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Without a doubt, best coffee in Manly. delicious menu, the pegg roll is a winner. good tunes ... And fantastic service.

Yelp
Found this cafe. Very Melbourne with a razor touch of Sydney fine dinning. We are from Melbourne and this is the best cafe going around presently. Sure coffee was excellent. Staff tentative. Menu was innovative. Chocolate smoothie used real cocoa. Someone made the chocolate apple rhubarb muffin. Great space and feel. Cant wait to go to Sydney for a coffee. Something a Melbounite would never admit to.
