Jay Swaminarayan 🙏 A peaceful and divine gem in the heart of old Ahmedabad!
Visited Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kalupur with my mom recently and honestly, both of us felt something truly special the moment we entered. It was our first visit to this historic mandir and the experience is still fresh in my heart. There is something very calming and sacred about this place. The moment we stepped inside, it felt like the noise of the outside world just faded away.
The temple was built in 1822, and it is not just a religious place but also a beautiful piece of art and history. My mom was mesmerized by the wooden carvings done on Burma teak wood. She kept pointing out the intricate details on the pillars and ceilings and said, "Aisi kala toh aaj ke zamane mein dikhayi hi nahi deti." And she was absolutely right. Each pillar has carvings so delicate and precise, it is almost unbelievable that this was made over 200 years ago.
The darshan of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and Nar Narayan Dev was something that gave both of us goosebumps. There was a peaceful bhajan playing in the background, and the whole aura inside the garbhagriha was divine. We both folded our hands and just stood in silence for a while. My mom had tears in her eyes, and I knew at that moment how much this visit meant to her.
The whole temple complex is very well maintained. It is clean, organized, and the volunteers are soft spoken and helpful. Even the small inner courtyards and rooms inside the temple are full of silence and spiritual energy. We found a quiet corner near one of the carved jharokhas and sat there for some time just feeling the breeze and taking it all in.
We also read a bit about the Swaminarayan Sampradaya and the Narnarayan Dev Gadi from the information boards placed around the premises. One of the sevaks saw us reading and came over to explain a few things in a very warm and humble manner. It made the visit even more meaningful.
If you are visiting Ahmedabad and have love for culture, devotion, or heritage, please do come here. And if you are a part of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya, this is a sacred stop that connects you directly to the roots.
Jai Shri Swaminarayan 🙏
We will definitely visit again. My mom already told me, next time we are coming for the morning aarti.
