Chandi Devi Temple – A Spiritual Experience with a Scenic Ride Visiting Chandi Devi Temple in Haridwar was a deeply spiritual and memorable experience. Perched atop Neel Parvat, the temple offers a serene atmosphere with breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and the holy city of Haridwar. The sanctity of the temple, combined with the calm surroundings, makes it an ideal place for devotees seeking peace and divine blessings. The Udan Khatola Ropeway is exceptionally well managed and adds great value to the overall visit. Make sure to buy tickets in advance through online portal. The ropeway ride is smooth, safe, and offers panoramic views of the Ganga plains and lush greenery, making the journey enjoyable for people of all ages. It is a convenient alternative to the steep trek, especially for senior citizens and families with children. Queue management and ticketing were organized, and staff were helpful and courteous. Cleanliness around the temple premises was maintained reasonably well, considering the heavy footfall. Overall, Chandi Devi Temple, along with the Udan Khatola ride, offers a perfect blend of devotion, convenience, and natural beauty. A must-visit destination when in Haridwar.

We visited Maa Chandi Devi Temple and had a wonderful spiritual and scenic experience. We went up using the ropeway, which was truly enjoyable — the short 5-minute ride offered beautiful views of the mountains and the surrounding greenery. It felt peaceful and refreshing. After reaching the top, we took the blessings of Maa Chandi Devi, and also visited the nearby Hanuman, Anjana Mata, and Santoshi Mata temples. The place has a divine atmosphere, and the entire visit felt serene and fulfilling. Overall, it’s a must-visit place for both spiritual seekers and nature lovers. The combination of the ropeway ride and the temple’s peaceful ambiance makes it a memorable experience.

A fantastic and convenient way to visit both Chandi Devi and Mansa Devi is by taking the combined ropeway (Udan Khatola) ticket. It's highly recommended for the scenic views and the ease of travel between both temples, as ground transport is also included in the ticket. A crucial tip: be extremely cautious of the monkeys near the temple and hide your prasad! If you don't have your own transport, look out for local auto rickshaws offering a full day tour for about ₹500.

Chandi Devi Temple in Haridwar is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Chandi, an incarnation of Goddess Parvati. Located atop Neel Parvat on the Eastern summit of the Shivalik Hills, it's one of the Panch Teerth (Five Pilgrimages) and Siddha Peethas in Haridwar. *Key Features:* - *Architecture*: The temple's structure was built in 1929 by Suchat Singh, the King of Kashmir, while the main idol is believed to have been installed by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. - *Significance*: This temple is highly revered as a Siddha Peetha, where devotees believe their wishes are fulfilled. - *Festivals*: Major festivals celebrated here include Navratri, Chandi Chaudas, and Kumbh Mela. *Visitor Information:* - *Timings*: The temple is open from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. - *Entry Fee*: There is no entry fee, but a ropeway ride costs ₹95 per person for a round trip. - *Ropeway*: The Chandi Devi Udankhatola ropeway offers stunning views of the Ganges River and Haridwar. *How to Reach:* - *By Air*: The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, approximately 40 km from the temple. - *By Train*: Haridwar Railway Station is about 8 km from the temple. - *By Road*: The temple is well-connected by road, with regular bus services from Delhi and other nearby cities. *Tips for Tour Managers:* - Plan for a 2-3 hour visit to explore the temple and its surroundings. - Encourage your group to take the ropeway ride for panoramic views. - Remind your group to dress modestly and follow temple rules. - Consider visiting during Navratri or other festivals for a more vibrant experience

Chandi Devi Temple offers a wonderful spiritual experience with stunning hilltop views. The cable car ride is smooth and enjoyable, and the temple area is clean and peaceful. A must-visit for anyone coming to Haridwar! Also, don’t forget to visit Anjani Mata temple, just few more meters uphill.

The temple is peaceful and worth visiting, but the overall management is poor. Ropeway waiting time is 1–2 hours and the area is overcrowded. Biggest issue is returning without your own vehicle — auto drivers refuse to go unless their big autos are full, making tourists wait for hours. Strongly recommend visiting only if you have your own transport. We recently visited Chandi Devi Temple in Haridwar and while the temple itself is serene and spiritually uplifting, the overall experience left us disappointed due to poor management around the visit. To reach the temple, you need to take the tram (ropeway) service, but the waiting time is extremely long — anywhere between 1–2 hours. The starting point for the tram is overcrowded, which makes the wait even more uncomfortable. There are some small shops for souvenirs, snacks, and games, but that doesn’t balance the chaos. Once you reach the top, there is a small hike via stairway to the temple. The stairs are divided into two sides — one for going up (which is in good condition) and one for coming down (which is poorly maintained and quite difficult to walk on). All of this could still be manageable, but the biggest problem starts when you have to return to your hotel or onward destination without your own vehicle. The auto drivers outside act like goons — they refuse to take passengers unless their large autos are filled completely, or you hire the entire vehicle even if you’re a single person. When I asked small auto drivers, they said they’re afraid of the big ones as they get threatened or beaten if they pick up customers from there. We ended up waiting more than an hour just to get back, which completely ruined the experience. The temple is worth visiting, but I strongly recommend going with your own vehicle. The authorities really need to step in and resolve this transportation issue, as it’s making tourists suffer unnecessarily.

Ma Chandi Devi Mandir, located on the beautiful Neel Parvat hill in Haridwar, is one of the most sacred and enchanting temples in Uttarakhand. Dedicated to Goddess Chandi Devi, this temple is not only a significant spiritual destination but also a place that fills the heart with peace and devotion. According to mythology, the temple marks the site where Goddess Chandi defeated the demons Chanda and Munda, symbolizing the victory of good over evil. The journey to the temple itself is memorable. Devotees can either trek up the hill or take the ropeway (Udan Khatola), which is an experience in itself. The ropeway offers a magnificent panoramic view of the Ganga River, the lush green forests, and the entire city of Haridwar. As you ascend, the cool breeze and scenic beauty make the ride truly mesmerizing. It feels as if you’re floating above nature’s divine canvas. The temple premises are clean, well-maintained, and radiate positive energy. The aura of the Goddess, combined with the chants of devotees, creates a deeply spiritual atmosphere. Visiting Ma Chandi Devi Mandir is not just a religious trip—it’s a soulful experience that connects you with faith, nature, and inner peace. A must-visit place for anyone coming to Haridwar.
