A magical place! Very beautiful design, with peacocks and other birds freely walking around the grounds. For children, it’s a special treat. There is a wide selection of fine wines. Our guide Elena hosted a wine tasting and led a very engaging tour. Wonderful impressions — thank you!

The strongest point of this winery is definitely the setting – a beautiful garden, memorable décor, and a stunning atmosphere. Unfortunately, the guided tour was weak: the host only covered the basics and rushed through the tasting without much explanation, making the experience feel flat. The restaurant was also disappointing, with overpriced dishes that didn’t match the expected quality. Overall, it’s a gorgeous place to see, but the service and overall experience fall short of its potential. I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit, but if you’re nearby, it’s worth a stop.

🌟 Quirky Atmosphere, but Service Fell Short We visited Shumi Winery hoping for a relaxed afternoon of wine and Georgian charm. The garden had a quirky, almost fantasy-like vibe with whimsical decor and birds like pheasants and turkeys roaming freely — definitely a unique setting! However, while the atmosphere was memorable, the service was quite slow, and we found ourselves waiting longer than expected without much attention. The experience felt a bit disorganized, which took away from what could have been a more enjoyable visit. Worth a stop if you’re nearby and curious about the grounds, but don’t expect a polished or seamless wine tasting experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5)

If you’re looking for a great wine tasting and tour, this is definitely your place. We asked for a guided tour in Russian and lovely Maria was our guide. She walked through the winemaking tradition of Georgia and distinctive characteristics of the regional wine production, showed winery’s museum space, qvevri room, and barrel room. Later we sat down to taste 5 incredible wines. It was a perfect rainy day but despite of it, there were a few independent visitors and groups. I highly recommend this winery to anyone looking for flavorful, authentic and delicious wines.

Shumi winery made our trip remarkable. The atmosphere was so peaceful and we never expected to enjoy our day in this kind of beautiful surroundings. Literally I could stay there the whole day. Although we are back in Dubai. My heart stopped at Shumi estate. The host Anna was amazing, she is a very knowledgeable and beautiful woman, who was very friendly and she was wonderful in explaining everything and we were so glad that she made our wine tour an extraordinary one. The food was superb as was the wine. I love everything about the day I visited here. Thank you Shumi winery🙏🏽❤️🥹

We visited place for evening dinner and wine tasting. Garden and surroundings has a vibe of fantasy mixed with art exposition (there are few items looks very cheesy). Food was served very fast and was tasty but a bit overpriced. Wine tour was ruched by guide, nearly looks like wanted to end his work day ASAP, some question made him slow down and engaged more. Wine tasting is basically pouring them to the glasses and not much telling during sipping but leaving you with full glasses. Idea not really of wine tasting. Overall we did enjoy the place but services that places offering should be more polished for future customers.

We visited Shumi Winery and it was the absolute highlight of our stay in Kakheti. For just 10 GEL, we joined a 45-minute tour that was incredibly informative and well worth it. The winery is home to the largest private collection of grape varieties in Georgia, with over 900 different vines, showcasing the country’s deep-rooted winemaking heritage. One of the most fascinating parts was learning about the traditional qvevri method, an 8,000-year-old technique where wine is aged in large clay vessels buried underground. It was amazing to see how Shumi blends this ancient craft with modern winemaking practices. Our tour guide, Patricia, was outstanding. She was not only very knowledgeable but also super friendly and engaging, making the entire experience feel personal and enriching. She really took the time to explain every detail and answer all our questions, making it one of the best tours we’ve done in Georgia. Highly recommend visiting Shumi Winery for anyone traveling through Kakheti, it’s a perfect combination of culture, history, and great wine.
