To Bago from Yangon
Bago is an easy trip from Yangon and is often done as a day trip or an overnight stop.
By Car/Taxi: The quickest option (approx. 1.5–2 hours). You can hire a private taxi or book a tour from Yangon.
By Train: A local train from Yangon to Bago is a scenic and inexpensive option (approx. 2 hours).
Getting Around Bago
Once in Bago, the major attractions are spread out.
Trishaw/Tuk-tuk: The most common and convenient way to visit all the sites in a day. You can hire a driver for the full day to take you to the Shwethalyaung and all other major pagodas.
Motorbike Taxi: A quick way to get around, but ensure the price is negotiated beforehand.

The Shwethalyaung Buddha is one of several magnificent historical sites in Bago, which are usually visited together using the Bago Zone Ticket:
Shwemawdaw Pagoda: One of the most important and tallest pagodas in Myanmar.
Kanbawzathadi Palace: A replica of the original royal palace of the Second Burmese Empire.
Kyaik Pun Pagoda: Known for its four massive seated Buddha figures, backed against a square pillar.
Mya Tha Lyaung Reclining Buddha: A more recently built reclining Buddha, located near Shwethalyaung, which is also worth a visit for comparison.
