I've Traveled to More Than 50 Countries but Something About This Surf Island in the Philippines Hooked Me

"If you’re a sucker for a spa, there’s no better place to stay than Siargao Bleu, the island’s only spa resort. In addition to on-site pampering, the property has a strict “sanctuary time” that starts at 9 p.m. It’s a rule that ensures you will drift to sleep to the sound of the ocean — not your neighbor’s voice. Several of the villas here face the pool, which is one of the island’s best and biggest." - Evie Carrick Evie Carrick Evie Carrick is a writer and editor who’s lived in five countries and visited well over 50. Siargao Bleu is a charming resort nestled in the surfing and food capital of the Philippines. We had the pleasure of staying in what is probably the best room—Villa 6—for 9 nights. The room was spacious and comfortable, though the plumbing fixtures could use some updating. Because we appreciate fresh air, the absence of screen doors was a drawback, although this might not be an issue for those who prefer air conditioning. Villas are also located around the pool where children would be happily but noisily screaming. The staff were attentive and friendly, but service did slow down once the resort reached about 60% capacity. Nonetheless, it was the warmth and dedication of the bartenders, ground staff, butlers and servers that elevated our experience, making the difference between an average and a memorable stay. The location was ideal—distanced from the busy streets of General Luna, yet close enough to easily access the area’s attractions, including Cloud 9. The sunsets were beautiful, adding to the ambiance of the resort. Overall, Siargao Bleu offers a comfortable escape (especially for families) with a desirable location and genuinely caring staff, even if there are a few areas that could benefit from some updates.

We recently booked 4 rooms at this hotel, and while our stay had its challenges, there were some noteworthy positives. The staff was genuinely friendly and accommodating, always doing their best to assist us during our stay. The pool area was also a highlight—beautifully maintained and a great spot to relax.||That said, there were some areas for improvement. The rooms only had single beds, and unfortunately, the hot water wasn’t working in any of them. To make things more uncomfortable, the air conditioning were broken, which made sleeping quite difficult. Hoping for a better experience, we decided to upgrade one room to a villa. While the villa itself was lovely, we were charged ₱35,000 per night, even though the online rate was listed at ₱15,000, should be noted the AC still didn’t work. ||Additionally, the pricing structure for the upgrade felt confusing. Instead of being charged the difference between the original room rate (₱15,000 per night) and the villa, the hotel calculated the upgrade based on our discounted Agoda booking of ₱7,000 per night, resulting in an additional ₱28,000 per night per room. This left us feeling that the pricing wasn’t entirely fair.||The restaurant was also underwhelming, as the food quality didn’t quite match the prices. WiFi connectivity was another issue, as it was inconsistent during our stay. 2 of the rooms didn’t have a TV and the room that did has 20 inch TV. ||Overall, this hotel is more of a 3-star experience, and there are other options in Siargao that might provide better value for the price. That said, if you do choose to stay here, booking the villas online in advance could help ensure a more seamless and enjoyable experience.

This is my absolute favourite hotel to spend the day at using the day use pool pass. It is a little more expensive than others at 2,500 per person, but if you want a treat, and somewhere peaceful and not crowded, then it is really worth it. 2000 is consumable on food, drink, and spa treatments - they have lovely cabanas overlooking the water in which you can book a massage. The food and drink are all still a reasonable price so it is very easy to spend the whole day here and be able to have 2 meals plus drinks within the 2000. It’s buy one take one cocktails all day too. The lovely member of staff Brandon greeted me at the entrance and took me to find a comfy bed in the shade for the day, all the staff are so lovely. Would 100% recommend!

Reviewing only the restaurant, I must say, I was blown away!! 100% recommend EVERYONE to go here for their crab! This is a beautifully staged restaurant, and we sat with a lovely view of the resort pool. The service and timeliness of the food/drinks were all very good! But let’s get back to the crab! My goodness, words cannot adequately justify how good it is, so I can only urge you to go there and find out for yourself! It’s like Japanese wagyu but crab! An absolutely wonderful experience. We will definitely return on our next trip through!

They have to have one of the best pools on the island. It's sizable and goes from shallow to deep and it is kept clean with daily cleanings. Since Siargao doesn't have many swimming beaches, as it's a rough surf more suited to surfing, you will be in the pool a lot!||The location was great and the people were just outstanding. The food was some of the best we had as well and not hotel overpriced either, and the Happy Hour all day long with discounted drinks, all day long makes any time a good time to sit and relax. ||The Garden View rooms on the first floor are sizable and have a great shower that has plants in it, but the Villa Rooms are the bomb! Having the pool at your doorstep is great. Now it's not difficult to get to the pool from the Garden or Terrace rooms, but the pool is just off your personal porch makes it that much nicer. ||And in the Villas, the stone tub looks like it might be silly, but fill it up and get into it and you will be amazed. It's deep and comfortable and is now one of my favorite tubs in all my travels.||We had our own butler, who we connected with on WhatsApp, and Abby was a first-class butler who helped us with our Filpino simm cards, wifi issues, and other questions. Paul also helped out on this front when Abby wasn't available. ||Brandon and Hannah always helped make the breakfast time enjoyable and Merian in housekeeping did an excellent job keeping the room tidy. Frankie was an all-around help and had a winning and charming smile. ||The grounds are great, but it's the people that made the trip stellar. ||The menu isn't large, but the ceviche, spaghetti, fresh grilled fish, (it was tuna) and BBQ CHicken were so good. Some of the best meals we had on the island. ||The covered bar at the water's edge was such a great place to hang out and relax. ||It's always a crapshoot when choosing a hotel from the internet, but this was a winner and you will enjoy it and its location if you school Siargao Bleu Resort & Spa.

Nice Resort, Just outside the busy downtown strip area |the resort has good amenities and activities for guests such as the kayaks and paddle boards |There's a separate gym area which is great for quick workout |The pool area is great and the villas around the pool are great and comfortable |The restaurant had great meals. |Breakfast was included with the stay (buffet or al a carte) ... Good with a healthy juice shot each morning and always some fresh fruits |Dinner menu was tasty and worthwhile trying there meals ||Few suggestions: Add some water buckets by the villa steps to wash the sand off your | feet before you enter your room | While using the spa you can hear dinner dish being rattled around | or people eating their dinner .... Not very relaxing ... LOL!

Siargao Bleu rooms and the resort itself is so aesthetically pleasing. However our 2 rooms had no hot water due to their system getting fried when electricity came back after the islandwide 2 week blackout. Saving grace was their resort manager, Richard, who personally approached us and offered a free villa upgrade for 1 room so we would have hot water in our shower and complimentary 60 minute foot massage for the 4 of us.||Overall, it was a very nice stay. Yana, front desk was very helpful in confirming the upgrade, our Butler, Edwin, gave good recommendations on places to eat, and Moy, the sand sweeper, always greeted us with a respectful bow and friendly smile. The swimming pool was huge that we could kayak, paddleboard, or just lounge on their sandbar like center. It was a great stay!

My stay here was nothing but exceptional. The resort really delivered comfort and convenience to their guests. A big shoutout to my personal butler Jeferson and Ariane for helping me accommodate my needs during my stay here in siargao island! I definitely highly recommend staying here if you want that luxury resort like experience !

Yelp
Terrible booking experience. 9 days have passed and I am still waiting for my payment receipt. 1. I think it's irresponsible for a business owner to go on a vacation with limited WIFI connection and take the bank book that they knowingly would cripple the operations of the accounting department- one of the most important part of the operations. 2. I would assume paying Siargao Bleu the Php35,136.00 for a one night stay- they would at least have the technology and/or manpower to check if the payment their customers have sent has gone through and issue a receipt. Moreover, if the business owner is the only one who has access to this- nobody has literally "called" them? If not via the internet, via long distance calls to confirm payments for their guests. This is ridiculous.

Yelp
Resort is closed but they are still accepting bookings. Bad business practice. Their phone doesn't answer, neither does email. Travel sites still allow bookings in 2022.

Yelp
Definitely staying here next time I'm back in Siargao. We were welcomed with super friendly staff and coconuts to drink out of. Really refreshing after a long trip! The resort itself is amazing. My boyfriend and I stayed in a floating villa. The room was incredible - nice beds, big shower, beautiful bathtub. Plus, being able to walk out onto our deck and hop right into the pool was awesome. The resort is also right on the beach. Through the resort you can rent paddleboards, kayaks, and scooters and the staff will help you schedule other things you may want to do on the island, like island hopping or going through mangroves. Food was great. We had the breakfast buffet and dinner one night. Everything was delicious and dining in such a gorgeous space only added to the experience. The bar makes tasty drinks as well that you can enjoy poolside. Some other things to note are the spa and gym and the nearby restaurants.
