Best Restaurants in Chinatown London | Where to Eat in Chinatown | Eater London

"For most people this is just known as ‘the skewer place next to Baozi inn” as it doesn’t have an English name; the Mandarin name literally means the People’s Commune Chuan Chuan Xiang — a style of Chengdu skewer based street food. There are baozi here, which are fine, but the skewers are excellent, and come with a proper numbing kick from the malatang. The ones to order? Spam and prawn balls for their texture; chinese leaves, broccoli, and tofu for their ability to soak up the soup." - Jonathan Nunn

Stumbled upon Sichuan House on Buymeego and it’s honestly a hidden gem in North London! We got the 2-person set for just £30 — that’s two mains, a veggie dish, rice, drinks, and service included. The portions were huge and everything tasted authentic, especially the water-boiled beef and dry-fried green beans. Such great value for money — hard to believe this is London! Will definitely come back.

If you’re looking for a solid hot pot with no frills and at a reasonable price, Sichuan House meets the demand. For £25 per person, you can have all-you-can-eat hotpot! There is quite a nice variety of ingredients to choose from, including crab sticks, fish, beef slices, pork slices, mussels, tofu, squid, veggies, mushrooms and more. Service is slow and inattentive but if you focus on the food, you’ll leave satisfied!

The right place for s proper hot pot experience! It is available for 25£ per person, with 10 ingredients of your choice. Everything is freshly prepared and delicious. The only small minus was a waiting time, we were the first ones in and it took 1h till we got served our food. Still, highly recomended.👍

The best food items here were the hot and sour soup and the tea. Service was good. The noodle dishes were average to poor. The lunch menu looks good value at a small starter and main dish for £9.50 but they skimp on the ingredients here. I asked for crispy noodles with my stir fried pork and was served soft noodles. There was lots of green chilli and hardly any pork. Ordering the seafood fried noodles. There was so little seafood with just squid and prawns. No mushrooms or other items. Plus the prawns looked like they had been repurposed from another dish as they had some sort of mushy breadcrumb on that had been removed. I’m almost certain the prawns had been taken from another dish as otherwise fresh prawns shouldn’t have any sort of soggy breadcrumb on it. In all I wouldn’t go back here as the food quality is poor and very suspect they repurpose leftovers in other dishes.

We did not like the food. We ordered tofu and stir fried veg, seafood rice and chicken gyoza. Taste was bland, the seafood was undercooked which not only is not tasty but might be dangerous. Seems like the bok bok wasnt cleaned and the portion was small. Its not really expensive but not worth the experience in my opinion.

Tai Bangle!! Sichuan House is hands down my favourite restaurant in London. The food is absolutely delicious each and every time. Wendy and Ling and the rest of the team are the best hosts ever, so happy and nice I now consider them friends. I love you Wendy, Ling and Sichuan House!!! 10/10

Unlimited hotpot for only £25pp which was a good deal, but only 3 soup base option and small portion sizes for the meat. The soup bases were quite flavourful. A tad bit on the salty side, but on a general note, it was okay. Not the most friendly service by one particular lady at the time we went in the evening of a weekday.

My all-time favorite dish from Sichuan House is Crispy soft-shell crab with fragrant chillies. It might even be my all time favourite dish in the world. since trying this dish, my partner and I have ordered it atleast twice a month for the last 6 months. It is simply divine, perfectly cooked, crispy soft-shell crab swimming in with spicy, tangy, salty, sweet Sichuan chilles. My only issue with the dish is consistency - 2 in every 3 times we order this dish falls short of its usual brilliance. The crab isn't as fresh, the spices aren't as punchy and the dish drops to a 7/10. But the dish I ordered on 23rd March, at around 8pm, was absolute perfection. An 11/10, whoever the chef on duty was, was truly cooking. Sichuan kitchen if you read this, give this person a raise.

Yelp
Our first time here... Grabbed lunch with a wonton noodle soup, MaBu Pork Tofu rice & chicken w black bean sauce rice lunch specials. 27.5£ + 2.75£ SC. Although it's decorated nicely, service was indifferent & taste & flavoring was bland lacking any intensity . It LOOKED good on the plate ... Just largely lacking otherwise. I would say it was rather inexpensive at 27.5£ for 3 plates with soup bowls as an extra side dish. It's kind of "tourist grade" fare. It's barely 3 stars... Nothing offensive... Nothing memorable except the low cost & charming interior vibe. Plus things looked clean & healthy.

Yelp
New comer to supper street. The neighborhood is a little light on Chinese food so this is a welcomed addition. The place is called Sichuan house but the menu is watered down by other types of Chinese cuisine. It's a real shame. There is Sichuan hot pot and a handful of Sichuan dishes so there is a chance to get a taste from the region. The spice is really mild so if you want spicy, you might need to load up in the chili. All that said, the dishes have pretty good flavor. All of the dishes were seasoned well which means the food was not too salty. I would stay with savory meats such as beef, pork and chicken. The chef is a bit too heavy handed with the sauce for seafood. Overall, it is a solid addition to the neighborhood. The store is still getting set up so the decoration ships start looking more Chinese in the coming weeks.
