Went on a Saturday evening for dinner date, seated immediately without waiting. The servers are authentic Chinese people. Quick service and food came out fast and delicious! Would definitely come again. One of the good places for Sichuan restaurants in DC

Nice, quaint neighborhood Chinese restaurant with great selection, ample portions and reasonably priced. The hot tea they bring is a nice touch. My Kung Pao Chicken was perfect, and the Sweet and Sour Chicken had a nice tangy taste to it. Would definitely recommend!

Whether it’s a group dinner or a casual meal, Sichuan Pavilion has authentic and flavorful Sichuan dishes in a comfortable setting. Some of my favorites include the mapo tofu, spicy chicken with dry pepper, fish fillet, and bean strings with ground pork—all packed with bold flavors and the perfect balance of spice. The quality has remained consistently good. The service was quick and attentive, with staff regularly refilling tea and ensuring a great dining experience.

One of my favorite restaurants! I crave their fish in hot sauce and mapo tofu all the time. Service is always great and very attentive. Food is always consistent and steaming hot. Definitely a must!

We visited this restaurant on Independence Day, a group of four. The owner and all the staff were incredibly warm and friendly, recommending dishes based on our preferences. In total, we tried the Mapo Tofu, Basil Eggplant, Sliced Beef and Tripe in Chili Sauce (Fuqi Feipian), Poached Fish Slices in Hot Chili Oil (Shui Zhu Yu Pian), and Homemade Beef Tendon. The portion sizes were just right, the flavors weren't too salty, and the spice level wasn't overwhelming. Overall, the ingredients were fresh and the taste was great. Our favorite was the Basil Eggplant; the sauce was incredibly rich and flavorful, and the four of us devoured it.

Google
One of the representative Sichuan cuisine restaurants in DC, offering authentic and richly flavored spicy and numbing dishes. Their spicy hot pot is especially recommended; the broth is rich and layered, and the side dishes are fresh and plentiful. The Mapo Tofu has a perfectly balanced spiciness and numbing sensation; the tofu is tender and smooth, and while the spiciness is intense, it's not overwhelming. The ambiance is simple yet cozy, perfect for sharing a meal with friends or family. The waiters are friendly, and the bill is processed quickly.

We, a family of 7, came in about 2:30 PM. They were set to close at 3:30 for their afternoon break but moved quickly to seat and serve us. The food was fantastic. We’d asked a Chinese Lyft driver for a recommendation and he said this was the most authentic Chinese food in DC. I’m not an authority on the authenticity, but it was very tasty. The dishes were served family style. The not dish we didn’t like was the Jellyfish - but I had bought that as an experiment and we didn’t really expect to like it!

Google
Visited again in April 2025. Great food as usual. Glad to see that the restaurant is popping! Sichuan Pavilion was one of the few Chinese restaurants I could get to without a car when I moved to the area 10 years ago. It provided a taste closer to home and a cozy atmosphere where I could relax. To that point, the restaurant was conveniently located (right off Farragut N.) and had more authentic options. For Sichuan fare, I’d recommend chicken with hot dry pepper, beef/fish fillet in hot sauce, and pork/chicken/eggplant in hot garlic sauce. They are all seasoned with great flavors. You can also ask for recommendations. As a rule of thumb, dishes start with general Tao, sweet and sour, sesame, orange flavored, protein with broccoli etc. are Chinese American creation. They’re fine but skip those if you want to try more authentic and regional cuisines.

Yelp
Sichuan Pavilion is something of an institution, providing solid Chinese food to dine in or carry out to generations in Downtown. The challenge of the menu is its size: it includes old school standards that your father may have ordered, yet has some much more interesting and tongue-tingling szechuan options also. So it behooves the diner to take time to read through thr long menu carefully and to order selectively. Service is efficient and special requests are handled with grace, rather than the eye rolling of their peers. We first ordered crispy beef, which wws well executed with the beef shreds still juicy despite their crackle coating. The sauce had a mild bit of chili heat and subtle sweetness, and was generously salted with a medley of julienned veggies. Our second dish was General Tao Chicken, which is more commonly known as General Tso. It was again, a very well executed version of what has become a popular classic, with perfectly coated and fried nuggets of tender chicken breastfeeding in a sweet and spicy sauce served with broccoli and chili peppers. Sichuan Pavilion is very snug, amd something of a "rabbit warren" with a series of rooms connected by tight pathways. Tables can be small, so try to book in advance. Also, some of the best dishes are the more traditional szechuan style, do take the time to ask your server about them and be prepared for some heat.

Yelp
I've eaten here with coworkers at a staff lunch once, and we had a family style meal. This gave me an opportunity to taste a number of dishes. Two of them stood out the most to me: the mapo tofu and the hot sauce fish. I am not a "tofu person" and I'm never inclined to order or eat anything that made with tofu. But this.. oh my gosh, this was amazing. The mapo tofu is a banger! I've actually gone back to the restaurant to order it myself for takeout. Same with the hot sauce fish (banger also)! The food here is so far so great! Amazing. Thankfully, it's right across from my office. And though I work remotely now, any need to go into the office for something presents me with an opportunity to head across the street and pick up something tasty, which is a blessing. This is a place I've told others about as well and I'm glad it's near me! Try the mapo tofu and the hot sauce fish!

Yelp
One of my favorite Chinese restaurants! Love their mapo tofu and fish in hot sauce. Food is always consistent in flavor and I know what to expect. Servers are very attentive.

Yelp
I walked here from my hotel to order takeout for dinner with my family the other day. Overall, it was really nice. After placing the order with the front, I was asked to sit just wherever there was an empty seat which was really nice. The staff were all kind to me and it made the experience not too bad. The wait was a little long for the food, but it wasnt too bad overall, I think we were just hungry. We got a bit of food so I will just describe what I got since I didnt really try the other food. The mapo tofu was really good! I wish it had a little more numbing flavor but I just really enjoy numbing. The scallion pancakes were good too! and the Rice was made well. The food came out really hot which was a blessing since I had to make the walk back to the hotel. The ambiance of the restaurant was also nice. I couldn't really explore too much because I was getting takeout but it seemed nice and clean. Overall, I liked this place!

Yelp
Went here for lunch. Street parking available or parking garage nearby. Entry into restaurant has stairs (didn't see anything for ADA). Restaurant has many tables with flexible arrangements to seat larger parties. Very busy when we came, so we waited a little bit. Food came out very quickly. The food was delicious. Will definitely be back to try the other dishes. The spice level wasn't too bad for someone who is ok with spice.

Yelp
Your favorite Yelp correspondent handpicked Sichuan Pavillion after gamely searching for a replacement for Tai Shan, his former Szechuan Chinese go-to destination when he used to frequent WDC during his Fortune 100 career. But the sum of too many unforced errors, especially in the hit and miss results with our dishes and lackluster service from the staff, compel a subpar, two-star rating. We ordered: Appetizers Hot & Sour soup and green scallion pancakes. The former was good- Hot and piquant, ideal for warming cold bodies after buffeting swirling winds all day. The latter was mediocre, perfectly fried on the top edges yet undergone and flaccid on the bottom; Entrees Chicken Lo Mein, Kung Pao Chicken and Orange Chicken. Of the trio, only the kung pao passed our test- Spicy, pleasing mouth textures commingling green onions, heat, 5-spice and peanuts. The orange chicken was oversized and almost sacharine sweet, with little to no heat whatsoever. The chicken lo mein was so so. The mood of the restaurant starts with a pleasing note, as you're escorted to your (comfortable) seats amid a cozy yet well appointed dining room...but it closes with a sharp, discordant note that ruins your meal. At 9:15pm, with a stated closing time of 10pm, my wife and son were presented with the bill and abruptly told "Time to leave" by our server. I've never had this happen to me in 35yrs of dining in 41 of our 50 majestic states and a handful of foreign countries! Even though I pride myself on being a generous tipper, I could not force myself to tip more than $7 on a $95 tab. Aggravated that my bride of 28yrs and adult son, who.is an ordained minister at George Washington University, were treated in such a brusque and patently offensive manner! You've been warned, fellow Yelpers, avoid Sichuan Pavillion, especially if you're within an hour of their stated closing time!

Yelp
As per Yelp 3.5 Star Chinese restaurant rule, this one does live up to the expectation that its secretly amazing and worth a try. Seating was so quick and accommodating for our large suitcases and bags. We felt so well taken care of by the staff of sweet elderly people. They were very well equiped at giving descriptions of the food so you're prepared on what to order, and gave great recommendations. We love the expirence of these type of family-style restaurants because its such an intimate and communal style of eating that you just don't get at other type of restaurants, and that means something in a time where dining is so individualistic! We were three girls who walked in and they fed us like we were preparing to go to war, so safe to say generously portioned! The menu is vast and wide ranging so there is just about anything to fit your dietary needs or adventurous tongue. This is a great and safe restaurant to try the things you're likely unfamiliar with because of the homogeneous DC restaurant palette because they're probably prepared in the most classic and delicious way that they can be made. There's the safe options like lo-mein AND there is also Lamb with Cumin, Beef Tripe, and Duck. I want to reiterate that we're eating pretty authentic Chinese flavors that lean into fermented black bean, sour, and of course Sichuan (should you order those types of dishes) along with the typical Chinese-American flavors we expect out of a "Kung Pao" or "Sesame Chicken." Starter was the Scallion pancake paired with their chili oil which leans salty, spicy and briney from the addition of black bean paste (flavorful and smart addition to cut through the oil) which was crispy and automatic from the green onions layered between the fried thin dough. We had Lo Mein as our main starch which was cooked perfectly with bouncy noodles, crispy and fresh vegetables, and a distinct wok-hei flavor, Salt and Pepper Pork Chops which was so crispy and light but also with so much flavor bodied in their blend of salt/pepper (which for those who do not know, is an umbrella term for other spices such as 5 spice, white pepper, etc...), and String Beans Sichuan Style, which was flash fried and tossed in garlic, just like the famous Din Tai Fung version, only better, and well portioned. I'll come here and miss home. I'll come here when I want to be reminded of my family gatherings. I'll come here for the nostalgia of it all.

Yelp
Came here for a group dinner. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. Service was friendly and prompt. They offered helpful suggestions of some of their nice dishes. They said they had New Year (soup) dumplings. Sounded good so we ordered that. Very nice indeed. Their appetizer dish 小魚花生 Peanuts with Dried Anchovy is great (with scallion). Their salt / pepper prawn (shell on) is still great as usual.

Yelp
One of my favorite places! I love coming here for lunch, but it's a yearly Christmas eve favorite. The service is always fast and the staff is always friendly! I love the unlimited tea! This place gets pretty busy but it's very old school/ traditional. My family loves the dry pepper chicken. Please be prepared for the HEAT! That thing is spicy! The salt and pepper shrimp is delicious. And we always get fried rice and lo mein!

Yelp
This was one of my favorite spots when I used to live in DC, so when I came back for a business trip, I had to get it. It's so hard to choose between the spicy fish fillets, the mapo tofu, the tea smoked duck, and the cold spicy chicken, but they are all great! I ended up getting the tea smoked duck and it was just as good as I remember! Tea Smoked Duck - This is probably my favorite menu item, though the other dishes I named are also extremely delicious. This duck comes battered and crispy with a nice smoky flavor and just the right amount of fat on each piece. Did I mention that it's also entirely boneless? It's so good - you take a piece of the juicy and crispy smoky duck and add some green onions, hoisin sauce, and wrap it in a nice fluffy bun and it's utter perfection. I will continue to come back here time and time again when I'm in DC! I did takeout so I didn't experience a ton of the service/ambiance, but when I used to live in DC, the waiters remembered me as a regular and I'd get extra buns free of charge with the tea smoked duck. It's been a while so they didn't remember me this time, but I always loved eating in!

Yelp
This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the city! I have been coming for years, the service is fast, the food is hot, delicious, and keeps me coming back! The Mao Pao tofu is amazing, I love the hot dry pepper chicken. The staff are very attentive. The inside feels welcoming and cozy like a true family establishment. This is my go to Chinese place in the city! I always take out of towners here too! I highly recommend you check out Sichuan Pavilion!

Yelp
The Crispy Duck was super flavorful i think it was brined over night with spices and herbs, it was super crispy and so delicious the sauce was not needed. The Beans Steamed Fish was funky in the best way possible due to the Fermented beans but the flavors were intense and spicy but not unbearable spicy. The fish was tender, flaky; and fresh!
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty authentic chinese food. Cozy vibe. Service was great. Respectful and gave free rice when I took leftovers home. Food had good portions and tasted great.
google avatar

D Y.

Yelp
Pretty good. We had the pickled cabbage & fish, chicken lo mein, and kung pao chicken. The flavors and execution were all pretty good. The fish was really tender and juicy. The chicken was tender and had good flavor. The noodles were similarly good. Overall, maybe 3+/4-
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
Honestly best chinese food I've ever had. Beef lo main was amazing and the scallops with black garlic were great too. The restaurant was really clean and the staff were friendly. Will definitely be returning

Marianne W.

Yelp
Most genuine Chinese food in DC. Sichuan cuisine tastes so good and the restaurant even uses traditional Chinese utensils that made us feel at home. Weird their yelp score is low. Would like to see it is highly recommended for Chinese.
google avatar

Alice L.

Yelp
Favorite restaurant in DC for authentic, home style Chinese food. My favorite dishes are the ma po tofu and beef with spicy green peppers. Warning that both of these are pretty spicy. It can get pretty busy during dinner time and on weekends but it's worth the wait. Love the vibe in the restaurant as well.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been to this spot twice now, and both times the food has been outstanding. It's a great value for the quality you get. Every time I've visited, there's been a line out the door, which is always a good sign of a popular and well-loved restaurant. Whether you're grabbing takeout, going on a date, or having a work lunch, this place works for every occasion. Definitely one of my favorites in DC! Plus, if you're into celebrity sightings, word is that a few well-known politicians frequent here.

Liz A.

Yelp
Have been ordering takeout here for decades. Great food, open when I'm working late, always friendly. The table service was good in former times but haven't experienced it in quite a while. Best option if you're looking for Chinese food outside of Chinatown.

Steve G.

Yelp
This place is total garbage. I know what sichuan food should taste like, these guys walked out of a back alley and started through stuff together. The twice cooked pork had me twice run to the restroom, the mapo tofu tasted like it magically came from a can 20 years ago, the tea is flavorless and servers just presume the only chinese food you have eaten before is Panda Express.
google avatar

Clara S.

Yelp
Hands down THE BEST Chinese restaurant in DC. Everything is amazing-- I always order the fish in hot sauce, eggplant, and chicken with dry peppers. The service is great and the ambiance is very casual-- good to come with a large group of friends to share many dishes.

Yelp
I hate writing bad reviews but I feel like in this economy and with how valuable your lunchtime might be to escape the stress of life, I have to give this warning. They will rush you out, they will watch over you as you sign the bill (to look at your tip) The egg drop soup was bad and tasted odd, I make egg drop soup, it's like 4 ingredients it's not very difficult. But I found random veggies remnants and a piece of corn so I think it was mixed or cross contaminated. But I couldn't touch it after two spoonfuls lol. Also this is not really an issue but they don't have the wonton chips you normally get to put in the soup, just in case it's a dealbreaker for you. The brócoli chicken did not have a balance or good brown sauce, it was basically reduced soy sauce lol so it was also hard to eat, and the rice had signs of being old in taste and texture. The tea was the only thing I finished, it's complimentary (as most Chinese spots offer) but I'm pretty sure it was Lipton lol but good regardless, the food comes out fast if you're in a rush, but I think it pretty obviously reflects on the quality. When I say fast by the way, I mean it. I think I arrived at 1:22pm, was sat at 1:23pm and my whole order was taken and served at my table by 1:33 (I'm writing this review literally as I am walking away from their restaurant) Total cost for this meal: $32.00 - so it's not gonna save you money either. Anyways do with this info what you will, times are hard money is tight and I would want to save some of you from feeling like you've been had or like you wasted your money
google avatar

Alexandra A.

Yelp
Cute place! You get hot tea with your meal. The servers were so nice they even boxed up our food. I also tried the spring rolls everything was good!
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
Solid chinese food. some dishes better than others. favorites were the bokchoy, spicy eggplant (not very spicy), and the sour cabbage. The scallion pancake does not travel well, would only order that in, same with the crispy shredded beef which loses all texture. lo mein is average, and the crispy dry pepper chicken has good texture but pretty one note in flavor (spicy/szechuan peppercorn). They give a good amount of rice and fortune cookies with the meal
google avatar

Kahn C.

Yelp
It is average Chinese food you have in the DC area. As some of the dishes are leaning toward American flavor, therefore, less authentic.
google avatar

Frank D.

Yelp
Back again after a year and you've still got it. The ambiance is friendly and it's a busy but comfortable place. I see some people say it feels confining but it really isn't. There's plenty of room, and personally I like the buzz in the restaurant. Many of the folks are speaking Chinese so I can't understand them anyway but that adds to the the charm for me :) (I live in a very multicultural neighborhood in CA). The food was great again. I started with some hot and sour soup which in years past was maybe a little too authentic but is now more mainstream and I really liked it. Next some Dan Dan noodles and they had a nice serving of sauce and vegetables. The Kung Pao chicken was also fun but the winner every time is the dry fry shrimp. They make it HOT if you ask, and I did. Just make sure you have a beer or something to turn off the heat but this is the best I've had. See you in spring 2024!
google avatar

Angela L.

Yelp
The dan dan noodles were delicious and the mapo tofu had great spice. The tea was delicious and the ambience made this experience even more delightful.
google avatar

Joseph T.

Yelp
Every time I come to DC, I always stop by this place and I am never disappointed. I came towards the end of dinner service so you could tell we had to be quick. We ordered the tea smoked duck, Dan Dan noodles, Mapo tofu and the pepper salt wings. My favorite was the Mapo tofu followed by the tea smoked duck. The Mapo tofu has just enough spice and despite me not liking tofu, I love this dish! The tea smoked duck comes with little bao buns so that you can put the duck in with the glaze that they have. Overall one of my favorite spots and a must try if you're in DC
google avatar

Victoria S.

Yelp
Legit Sichuan-style Chinese restaurant near Farragut North metro station. Interior is a short walk-up with a cozy dining area and walls adorned with Chinese calligraphy scrolls. The menu has both traditional and Americanized Chinese food. We ordered scallion pancakes as an appetizer, with MaPo tofu and eggplant with garlic sauce. Everything was a solid 2 thumbs up and came quickly. Scallion pancakes were crispy and thin with good chew and generous scallion presence. The MaPo tofu had good numbing and spicy balance, with peppercorns, chili oil and black bean sauce. The eggplant was cooked perfectly with with chili, scallions and plenty of garlic. Service was efficient and courteous. Tea was refilled often and everything requested came promptly.
google avatar

Anushka M.

Yelp
Came to dine in for Christmas dinner and once again it did not disappoint. There was a slight wait time for 2 people but took less than 10 minutes for a table. Once we sat down we were greeted and served very quickly, with our order arriving just as fast. The pan fried dumplings and hot and sour soup are great starters, and the ma po tofu is still one of the best dishes here! The shrimp lo mein was delicious as well and we loved the kung pao chicken. Overall a great meal and large portions that allowed us to take a lot home.
google avatar

Betty L.

Yelp
My experience was a 3.5 stars. My friend and I walked in for dinner. Got seated relatively quickly without reservations but the place is not very large and we got an awkward table right by the entry way. So it felt like people frequently walked past us. The dining area is not very spacious. Tight and cozy. We got tea and ordered some wontons, string beans, and spicy fish. With rice of course. The wontons were a super let down. The beans were decent and the fish was good. Service was alright, as expected at a Chinese speaking restaurant. Prices on the higher end. Not surprised due to location. The biggest problem was that we wanted to take leftover rice, fish and beans to go. The server said he would pack it up for us and that he would get us fresh rice instead of what was left over on the table. Sounded great until I got back to my hotel and found out there was no rice in the bag! Spicy fish is not quite the same without rice to go with it.
google avatar

Unyssa M.

Yelp
So so glad we chose Sichuan Pavilion for dinner when we were visiting DC. We were seriously craving Asian for dinner and decided to give it a try! We got seated fairly quickly! Our server was attentive and the food came out so quick! We got the crispy fried spicy chicken with some stir fried greens Achoy, rice, and a side of Hot and Sour soup. We were impressed with the food, it was hot and fresh! The chicken had the good numbing kick of sichuan pepper! The soup could have been better. It was slightly cold to our taste. The greens were not over done. Perfectly cooked. The place was bustling busy! The ambiance is that any other Chinese restaurant! It's cozy too! Bdw they serve some good teas and I loved their chilly paste. Highly recommend you to give it a try!

Emmy Z.

Yelp
The waiter was so incredibly nice, and his kindness prompted me to leave a review here. He was so caring and kind. Food was great too. I missed Asian food from home and this was a great reminder of how much I love it.

Rabbi M. Bruce L.

Yelp
They were very unprofessional.. they offered a discount if we paid cash .. which we did not ask for but said sure ..but then tried to strong arm us that our tip was not enough .. the waitress was rude and counted cash at our table .. said it was not enough of a tip at 12% She did not wash her hands after rudely counting out bills touching money .. went on serving others with out cleaning her hands ... I would not recommend this place to anyone .. !!! They are rude the food was not under par and the staff is unprofessional and even rude!

Yelp
Three cheers for the return of Sichuan Pavilion! I was so sad when they closed during the pandemic. Since they re-opened, I've been once for dine-in and once for take out. The mapo tofu and eggplant in hot garlic sauce are a dream especially if you are a fan of the hot stuff. If you have people in your party who aren't used to spicy food, the bean strings w/ground pork or Sichuan-style string beans are also favorites. In my experience the staff has been great and very attentive. If you dine in you automatically get tea and they keep checking to refill your water. I will always have a place in my heart and stomach for this place!
google avatar

Harry L.

Yelp
Hands down, the best Chinese restaurant in DC. I found it by chance this fall near school and have been a regular since. The place has a traditional Chinese decor, a quiet atmosphere, efficient service, and reasonable prices - all of which make it stand out in this city. With that said, the food here is exceptional. I've been visiting almost every other week and have tried a variety of dishes. My favorites are the spicy boiled fish, twice-cooked pork belly, and salt and pepper squid. The twice cooked pork belly was incredible, maybe the best I've ever had. Another thing worth mentioning: if you pay with cash on a weekend, you get 10% off sooo pretty shweeet I'd say
google avatar

Jacob C.

Yelp
Been going here for years. My favorite Chinese food in DC area for years. The Mapo tofu, fried chicken with peppers, bean thread noodles with pork, eggplant with hot garlic sauce, king pao chicken, and spicy string beans are all great!
google avatar

Yulee K.

Yelp
This place was amazing! Large portion sizes and always packed. It definitely is on the saltier side but not terrible if you have the dishes with rice.
google avatar

Anita W.

Yelp
Love the family style portions of food! Hubby and I shared the Sizzling black pepper steak for lunch. Literally served on a sizzling dish! Although it did have an inch of grease at the bottom, the flavor was so good! the crispy pork belly was different from what I thought it would be, but they were still tasty, we well as the fried spring rolls! service was very friendly and polite! love the complementary hot tea served at each table! beautiful dishes as well!
google avatar

Tryingfood A.

Yelp
Food is normal, not bad but also not surprising. Menu contains a lot of choices but many them are Americanized Chinese food, which is not authentic.
google avatar

Cham K.

Yelp
This place is a sleeper. If you like the typical take-out General Tso or Beef & Broccoli then don't go here. If you like the more advanced level Chinese food with explosive flavors and intricate textures then Sichuan Pavilion is your place. Get the Mapo Tofu. The sauce actually coats onto the Tofu and not watery like other places. They also had a bit more savory seasoning to give it another layer of flavor which makes it perfect imo. The Salt & Pepper Shrimp. Fire. Chinese style shrimp is made so you can eat the shell without injuring your mouth. This version was coated perfectly for the most attractive crispy bite. I'd say it's the best in the area. I also like the Cumin dishes. Although I prefer dry-style Cumin, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. If you want take out food don't go here. If you want sit-down amazing Chinese gourmet dishes - THIS IS THE PLACE!
google avatar

Alexandra K.

Yelp
How have I forgotten to write a review for Sichuan Pavilion??? It is my absolute go-to in DC for mapo tofu. I don't get Chinese takeout often, but of the handful of places I've tried, this one tops them all. My partner is a fan of their Eggplant with garlic sauce and their vegetable lo mein. I'm not going to describe any of these in further detail because they're all so universal, if you've had a good version, you know, and they're all good versions here. Extremely generous portions, including of the complimentary white rice, and the service is quick and very courteous. Being near Farragut Square makes it super convenient to get to, too.
google avatar

Marc M.

Yelp
Surprisingly large inside and quite busy for a weeknight dinner. I've only been here once, but it this was in VA with easier parking, I'd be a regular. Had the fish filet with hot garlic sauce and if one serving hadn't been so filling, I'd have ordered a second. This is the real deal.

Yelp
Recognized as the best Chinese restaurant in DC, this is a venue we frequented before the Pandemic. It was so popular that a long line usually formed outside. The food was loved by all walks of life and palates-- Chinese and Americans alike. Unfortunately it closed for two years during the Pandemic and reopened in March. We were very excited to be able to dine here again. Traditional Chinese decor, quiet atmosphere, efficient service, reasonable prices and delicious food. We have been here before and tried many dishes. We decided to order two of our favorites. Both tasted just like they used to, but the portions were smaller. 5*Pork Stew红烧肉:authentic; just like mom used to make. 5*Pork with pickled vegetables 泡菜肉丝: house pickled vegetables were very good, combined perfectly with shredded pork. I gave a 5* rating because I have tried many and know what to order. If you order right, you can get really delicious and authentic Chinese food.
google avatar

Joy D.

Yelp
*I am not Chinese American so I can't speak to the authenticity of the food just how I liked it as a Filipino American With that said, this place was sooo freakin good! I haven't been here since 2017 and wow, what a waste. Everything was absolutely delicious! We got the mapo tofu, Mongolian beef, and the salt and pepper squid. The mapo tofu sauce was incredible, the best I've had. Also the staff was incredibly nice, I'm unsure what experience folks are having. The waiters were going around asking folks how the food was, if they needed anything, and graciously accepted all compliments. We absolutely love this place, we will certainly be back and bring friends!

Yelp
This is the most authentic Sichuan cuisine I've found in the United States. The food was outstanding and quick. I may take a trip to DC just to eat at Sichuan Pavilion, it's that good!

Yelp
Food was ok. Female server inattentive and entitled. Snarky remarks when the tip was less than she tought. Who needs that hassle. We can and will take our $ someplace else.

Yelp
Was somewhat concerned by a few negative reviews but decided to try this place anyway... it was fantastic! The mapo tofu was so spicy and flavorful, and we quite enjoyed the kung pao chicken and lo mein as well. If you pay in cash you get a 5% discount. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Best authentic chinese/sichuan food in the area!!! I cannot stress how great this place is. I've had a mix of takeout and dining on multiple occasions. So far, I've tried there fish fillet in hot sauce, mapo tofu, baby bok choy with fresh garlic, chicken with hot dry pepper. The flavor is amazing. Ingredients are fresh. Food is quick. This is definitely my go-to place for authentic chinese.
