Personal, Small, Friendly
We had a long stay at Siddartha Boutique Hotel – from 21 December 2017 until 3 January 2018. This is an incredibly friendly and relaxing place to spend a couple of weeks. Our only ‘complaint’ was we couldn’t stay longer!! A third week would have been just perfect. This is our second stay within this small group of hotels in the Siem Reap area – previously we stayed at the Pavillon d ’Orient.
If you are looking for plush bathrobes and big fluffy towels – this probably isn’t going to be your kind of place. However, if you are looking for somewhere personal, friendly, quiet, a created air of faded French colonial chic, with cool refreshing cocktails by the pool after a dusty day temple bagging and ‘tomb raiding’ – then this is the place for you. It is an energetic 10 minute tuk-tuk ride from the central markets, bars and restaurants. Likewise – 10 minutes from the Angkor National Park and the spectacular sights this significant historical region has to offer.
Breakfast buffet was a combination of ‘Western’ - scrambled eggs and bacon for those who can’t do without – and Khmer. There was a plentiful supply of croissants, bread, fruit and unlimited coffee – perfect to return to the hotel for after heading out for that 6:00 am temple sunrise. The breakfast certainly sets you up for a day of exploration.
The most under utilised part of the hotel was the roof top lounge and restaurant. So when not heading into Siem Reap for the evening, we pretty much had the place to ourselves – watching the sunset from here with a drink in hand and the buzz from the surrounding area was superb. All the staff at the hotel were genuinely friendly and helpful - our sincerest thanks to Mr Pheaktra and his superb and helpful team for taking care of us and we look forward to the next time.
