We loved every minute of our visit to Siegfried’s Mechanical Museum. The beauty and uniqueness of their collection were truly amazing—every display felt like stepping into a piece of living history. Its location was also perfect, just a short walk from the Christmas markets, which made it an unforgettable highlight of our Christmas market tour. A wonderful experience all around.

Google
A must see. The tour was in German but English script is made available. The tour guide also spoke English and was very kind to my kids (4&6), explaining some interesting facts about each exhibit. Thankful the Siegfried Family has preserved this amazing museum for others and future generations to enjoy!

Definitely a must visit place do not walk past here. You will not regret it. Check out some of these machines from the early 1900s that are being restored and maintained by one family and they have opened their home to let us see these incredible incredible instruments. So good. Loved it

Absolutely fascinating! Great guide very entertaining! The building itself is fascinating as well as all the work put into restoring all these to working order. 100% go here for a look!

Best museum I have been to in a long time. I wanted to see all of them play but understandably from a time perspective that just isnt possible. It truly is sad that we have lost so much of that beautiful craftmanship. The building itself is beautiful. The tour guides were very friendly. All in all I would honestly love to return if I am ever in the area again.

Google
A private museum with great and unique collection of mechanical musical Instruments. A what is great that is not just exhibition, you receive a 45 minute guided tour, where you you get to know and to hear different instruments. Guides know at least 4 different languages, what is very rare also. The museum was worth every cent I paid. Just be ready that tours start every hour, so you might need to wait a bit.

Google
Great little museum with working musical instruments no longer made. Great tour guides who explain what the machines are. Lovely gift shop on-site

Google
A friend of mine recommended Siegfried's Mechanical Music Cabinet Museum, even though they visited almost 20 years ago. I'm so glad I took their advice! The tour guide was absolutely superb—not only were they genuinely funny, expertly switching between German and English, but they were also incredibly knowledgeable and even good on the piano! Their passion for the collection really made the experience. It's a very niche experience, but I'm still scratching my head wondering how all those instruments play themselves with such precision. For the price, it's great value for money and well worth the experience. I highly recommend it!

Yelp
Ok that was weird. Interesting, sensory triggering, tinny, historical, kitschy, bizarre, intricate, delicate, amazing, and odd. I didn't want to go. I'm glad that I did, and would not repeat. Im conflicted. I mean, if you're here and need to kill an hour, it's a unique way to do that. Not something to go out of your way to experience, but I haven't seen anything like it. Machines that play real violins!

Yelp
I'm all about gadgets and new technology but this collection of ancient mechanical contraptions triggered me worse than a shark swimming through chum-filled waters. Our visit here was without question one of the highlights of my to Europe. The museum is inside a 15th century building that is so interesting to look at. You can't just walk through the museum on your own. Because of how fragile some of these machines must be a tour guide goes with you and explains the story behind each device before they operate them for your enjoyment. The minimum group size is four, but admission is so cheap I think it would be worth it to pay for missing people if you have less than four. The machine in the first room completely fascinated me. It was called a Weber Maesto Orchestrion and I've never seen anything like it. The orchestrion plays music that is meant to sound like a band is playing it. The multiple instruments harmonize wonderfully together and played a catchy tune. I liked it so much I ended up buying a CD of orchestrion songs from the gift store. When you start thinking about how this intricate machine was built over ninety years ago when technology was so primitive it's just mind blowing. I did some research when I got home and learned that less than ten of these exist in the world and one was sold in a Sotheby's auction for close to a million dollars! This alone was worth the price of admission for me. Another highlight was a machine that played violin music. There were multiple violins wrapped around a column but the catch was that each violin only had one string. The mechanism that spun around the violins would then hit each string as needed to play a melody. They had replicas of wind-up mechanical bird boxes that had a little bird that would jump around and sing when triggered. Some of these are actually for sale and if they would have been $200 or less I would have thrown my credit card down so fast your head would spin. Starting at $600 is too rich for my blood. We saw several other machines on our tour and the hour flew by so quickly. If you're anywhere near this museum it is a "must do" as far as I'm concerned.

Yelp
I went to Siegfried's mechanisches Musikkabinett in Rudesheim am Rhein, Germany on 6/17/2015. It was my 1st time there. A wonderful museum of musical instruments and music boxes of every imaginable description. Very unique and very magical. Plus, I took photos.

Yelp
This place was amazing for adults and children. Guides were friendly, knowledgeable and made everyone want to appreciate their expertly and beautifully restored musical devices Seeing these devices was wonderful but to have their musical instruments played together visibly in front of us was truly magical. We were with a tour group that I think had high standards in music and art and not one adult or child was disappointed with this museum of restored musical devices.

Yelp
I loved this tour although I am not musically inclined. It is in the middle of town. Mechanical musical instruments are so interesting to me now!

Yelp
Fantastic museum! We were very impressed with both the mechanical instruments on display and the wonderful multi lingual docents. Well worth an hours time next time you are on the Rhine.

Yelp
Very disappointing experience.  I had been very careful in making sure the museum would be open.  What I did not know was that the tours would occur only if there were 4 people.  Add to that two rather "scattered" tour guides who seemed genuinely perplexed that someone had even showed up for a tour.  Then another guide showed up and showed us a few items.  Luckily there was a nearby restaurant where we got a good cup of coffee  and kuchen!
