Sierra Lago Resort & Spa Hotel

​My recent stay at Sierra Lago in Mascota, Jalisco, was a mix of breathtaking beauty and frustrating operational issues. ​The Positives: The property itself is undeniable quality. The reception area exudes luxury, and the gardens are impeccably maintained, creating a perfect atmosphere for relaxation. The cabins are very comfortable and cozy. I was also pleased to see that the horses on the property are very well cared for. I must highlight the attitude of the staff; everyone I interacted with was excellent and very friendly. ​The Negatives: Unfortunately, the management seems to be letting the staff down. There were days when the team was clearly understaffed and overworked, which led to very slow service, particularly with a la carte food delivery. ​The design of "La Capilla" restaurant is also problematic; it seems poorly planned, as the sun hits you directly in the face regardless of where you sit. Finally, I was very disappointed that they did not honor the Black Friday room upgrade promotion. They claimed it was "subject to availability," a condition that was not disclosed on the website at the time of purchase. ​Verdict: A beautiful place with potential, but they need to fix their staffing levels and be more transparent with their promotions.

Amazing green place, full of wildlife and flowers. A lot of activities to make, but also perfect for just resting. Food is also great, and the fact that it's all inclusive is super relaxing

The grounds are very nice and the room is comfortable. But that is where I will stop. |For an all inclusive and price paid,we were hungry 90% of the time. |.|Maids we're nice and very good at their job. ||However the food was the worst I have ever eaten at any resort in my life . And I have stayed at many. ||The fish fillet at lunch was so over cooked and burnt, you need to saw it with a knife and the whole fish was hard to the touch. |The molcajate bowl was also all over cooked and served with no sauce or sides as advertised on the menu. |This was at lunch. :-( |Then when lunch stops,there is no food available until the dinner service at 8pm . |This was an issue when travelling with 2 young kids that would normally be in bed at that time.|Maybe if they offered room service pizza through the day we may of been happier. ||As for the late dinner we got a couple of dishes ordered and sent to the room. See photo. Points if you can guess what it is. Was terrible. It's a shame the servers are not more happier . We felt ignored most the time and had to ask multiple times for water or even to be acknowledged to be seated. ||The sofa had more food behind the cushion then what we ate from the restaurant . But apart from that the rooms were very clean. ||Unfortunately,3 of their lake boats were not working due to broken bands,which was upsetting for my 5 year old,it was going to be the highlight for him . He did enjoy the horse drawn carriage though,that was fun. ||The pool is nice to enjoy the views. However we only got to enjoy it for 15 minutes. As everyone who uses it in the morning, leaves their items on the chairs whilst they go for a 2 hour lunch meaning others can not enjoy it. With limited seating this should not be allowed. ||And upon opening my towel after my 1st shower to find unwanted visitors hiding inside was a shock. But I know they can get everywhere. ||All in all, a very bad experience where we were hungry 90% of the time, this is not worth the money we paid and have sent emails to the resort but they have not responded after 4 weeks. |

This was by far our most relaxed visit in Mexico. We are from Colorado and truly enjoyed the "mountain experience" of Sierra Lago. Everyone on the staff was so nice and respectful, even though we spoke very little Spanish. Roberto, especially, treated us as members of his family, whom we will never forget. Geraldo (Gerry) was fun and was so very patient with us. He truly deserves a debt of gratitude from us! He was fun!

The place is phenomenal, the lake is amazing as the is the service. ||Daniel served all our meals throughout our stay and was always very attentive. ||Angelica had the room spotless and was also very attentive and friendly. ||We will be back. I highly recommend a visit.

Just returned home after a 4 day stay at the beautiful Sierra Lago Resort. The road out of Mascota up to the resort was a little...tough, but after pulling through the gates into the resort itself, WOW!!!||The view of the lake and the surrounding mountains was breathtaking. We were welcomed at the reception by Paty, and despite our poor Spanish, were made to feel very welcome by her warm and friendly greeting. ||Our beautiful, and well equipped, Ultra Suite Cabin was just a short walk to the pool and La Terraza restaurant. Lunch was at La Capilla restaurant which is a little further away around the lake, and for those not wanting to walk the golf cart was readily available. ||During our stay, we enjoyed both walking and taking a carriage ride around the lake, horse riding and fishing in the well stocked lake. We also enjoyed the couples massage given by Brenda and Maribel.||Can't praise all of the staff highly enough, everyone we met was extremely friendly and helpful!

Sierra Lago is so beautiful But food always late one of the drivers he not supposed to work on Sierra lago he was so rude on everything. Every time we ask something he disappoint us so negative. He doesn't reserve to work on Sierra Lago

Sierra Lago is absolutely beautiful, tranquil, and does help you to completely relax and unplug. It is all inclusive as it is in the middle of nowhere so there are not any other dining options. The food was ok (could be better) however times when the food was available was very late in my opinion. Good activities available, service could be improved, as well as room cleanliness, otherwise great for a weekend escape.
