"Siesta Key, located off the coast of Sarasota, is known for its white sandy beaches and warm, shallow waters. Siesta Beach, which was named the No. 2 beach in the U.S. by the 2023 TripAdvisor’s Traveler’s Choice Awards, isn’t just for those who can travel without a mobility device. According to Eljas, there’s a 400-foot walkway that stretches from the paved parking lot to the shoreline, so people using wheelchairs and walkers can actually reach the water. There are also free beach wheelchairs available to use." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Siesta Key Beach is absolutely magnificent! We visited on January 1st, and it was the perfect way to start the year. The weather was ideal, and while the water was cool, it was refreshing and added to the charm of the experience. The white, powdery sand is unlike anything we've seen before—soft and cool to the touch. However, it’s quite deep in some areas, so I’d recommend leaving the wagon at home. The beach is incredibly well-maintained, with plenty of free public parking, which is a huge plus. There are clean public restrooms, including a family option, but be prepared for some lines on busy days. The snack bar and restrooms are uniquely located on the second floor of the structure, accessible via a long ramp, which is a thoughtful touch for accessibility. Despite visiting on an exceptionally crowded day, the sheer size of the beach meant there was plenty of space to spread out and relax. There are many after-swim washing stations, volleyball courts, and even a playground for kids, making it perfect for families. Siesta Key Beach is a slice of paradise that truly lives up to its reputation. We can’t wait to visit again! Five stars, hands down.

We attended a silent piano concert here, and had a picnic of bagels and lox. The sand is white and powdery, and it's beautiful. This beach gets crowded sometimes, esp in the evenings and afternoons. Sometimes that's the vibe I'm going for, but other times I have my children, and I prefer a calmer, less populated beach/time of day. You can find shark teeth; it's a gorgeous beach that has earned its fame.

As far as a beach goes, it's hard to beat this one, especially without leaving the country! Amazing FINE white sand that really is like sugar, if not finer. Parking can be tough. Snack stand is quick and decent and does sell alcohol. The drum circle on Sunday evenings(at sunset)is very cool.

Ah, Siesta Key Beach—where the sand is so white and powdery, you might mistake it for a bakery's finest flour. This beach has been consistently recognized for its beauty, ranking as the best beach in Florida and among the top in the U.S. and the world by Tripadvisor in 2024. Visitors rave about the soft, cool sand and the expansive shoreline that offers plenty of space, even on busy days. Families appreciate the lifeguards on duty and the clean facilities, making it a great spot for kids to collect shells and play safely. However, be prepared for a bit of a trek from the parking lot to the water, and keep an eye on Red Tide reports to ensure optimal beach conditions. So, pack your sunscreen, bring your sense of humor, and get ready to enjoy one of Florida's most celebrated beaches!

Some of the softest and whitest sands I’ve ever seen. Great beach for kids as the water stays relatively shallow for about 50’ out. Lifeguard towers were well spaced out and lifeguards appeared attentive of what was going on.

This beach is why I live in Sarasota, even at the busiest times of year you can always find a quiet spot. The best thing is the sand never gets hot so even the hottest day you won’t burn the soles of your feet walking on it. Love Siesta Key Beach 😎🏖️

Very nice place to visit. Parking, covered seating and a nice mat path so wheel chairs or strollers can get almost to the water.

100 yards/meters deep and ~400 wide of white powder sand. ~6 sand volleyball courts. Nice bathrooms, playground, open area showers and lots of free parking.
