Great sunset sail tour. As we sailed out, the views were breathtaking. Watching the sun dip below the horizon, casting golden and pink hues across the sky and reflecting on the waves, was nothing short of magical. There’s something truly special about sharing that moment with friends, music in the background, and a glass of wine in hand. It wasn’t just the scenery that made the trip amazing, it was the atmosphere. Laid-back, joyful, and filled with laughter, it felt like the perfect blend of adventure and peace. Whether you're celebrating something special or just want to do something unforgettable with a group, this is the way to go.

Google
Our group of 11 had an amazing experience with Captain Jack and the crew! Not only was the mid-October weather absolutely perfect for our sunset cruise, but the crew kept us laughing with history lessons and great beverage options. Highly Recommend!

Kara M.

Google
Sailing on the sunset cruise was amazing! Surrounded by beautiful sights and the breathtaking sunset. Our crew Matt, Sean, and Sophie were friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. Definitely don’t want to miss this on your trip to Newport!

Google
Great experience! We had initially booked a sunset cruise but it was canceled due to heavy heavy fog. Visibility was maybe 50 yards, it would have been miserable had we had to go through with it. Instead, we went the next day for an afternoon sail and it was lovely. Our crew was comprised of Matt, Sophia, and Maeve. They were very knowledgeable and fun. It was impressive watching them deal with the sails etc even though they are all fairly young. Matt allowed my children to have a turn at the helm, and that was really special to them. Complimentary soft drinks on board, as well as a bathroom. Alcohol can be purchased in advance, and you can redeem your drink tickets for beer or hard seltzer on board. We sailed on the Schooner Aquidneck and I felt like it was the right size boat for a casual sightseeing cruise with a little bit of speed here and there. It also was not super-packed the way a lot of tours can be, and had a good number of passengers without being cramped. We would definitely recommend this one!

Google
Such an amazing experience, the crew was awesome, Matt the captain, Sofia and Shawn really made those 1.5h memorable. Loved the stories and legends they told us about some sailors, ships, bells on ships and sea overall. Thank you so so much for this 🤍

Google
We had such a sweet, relaxing sail on Labor Day evening. Even though there wasn’t much wind at all, the crew did a great job and we had the best experience. Absolutely recommend this fun little excursion!

Rebecca D.

Google
Great experience! My husband gets sea sick and the ride was very comfortable and smooth! The crew was great and entertaining and you get complimentary champagne and drinks! Beautiful view!

Shanne M.

Google
Super fun and unique experience on the Narragansett Bay. My partner and I did the "Morning Mimosas" sail on the Schooner "Aquidneck." The crew was a lot of fun, knowledgeable on the surrounding area and provided a lot of details on the scenery. Would definitely recommend taking one of the cruises sightsailing offers!

Yelp
Booked the sunset sail and loved it. Staff was great. Informative and the scenery was beautiful. Got to sail around alot and enjoyed the wind

Yelp
What a fantastic activity! We booked the champagne sunset sail on the Aquidneck. Sean, Maeve and Jack were our crew and they were friendly, fun and informative with their tour info. The champagne and Narragansett beer was flowing and the ride was beautiful.

Yelp
Excellent way to spend a morning. We thoroughly enjoyed the morning mimosa sail. The crew was super friendly and helpful. They were informative and always kept the mimosas flowing. Also there was beer available at a nominal extra cost. Super clean and safe boat.

Tricia K.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the Morning Mimosa Sail on the Aquidneck! The scenery was plentiful and beautiful both in the harbor and out in the bay. There was plenty of seating, and the boat felt spacious even with a big group. What really made the experience unforgettable was the crew, Captain Jack, Maeve and Annie! Incredibly friendly,--happy to chat, quick with fun facts, and always making sure our mimosas were topped off. You could tell they love what they do, and it just made the sail that much better. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful, fun way to see Newport from the water--can't wait to go again!

Amanda D.

Yelp
My friends and I went on the 6:40 sunset sail and had a wonderful time! The views were beautiful, and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We especially appreciated the complimentary champagne and beer, it was a nice touch. Our only disappointment was that the sail ended about 20 minutes early. Since it's advertised to go until 8:20, we were surprised to be back and disembarking by 8:00. Given the price, we expected the full experience and felt a bit let down by the early return.

Yelp
Ahoy minions! What a great sailing trip through the bay. The crew and guests made it a pleasant excursion through Newport. We boarded the vessel and was as given some guidelines and crew was in a jovial mood. The jokes were flowing as were we. Sails up out of the harbor tacking and healing across the bay. Informational knowledge and guests questions answered by the pleasant crew. The tour was longer than expected and I was even allowed to steer the boat. Great crew and seating was the only issue but I would highly suggest!

Yelp
An awesome experience on a beautiful sailboat! We did the mimosa cruise and had about 3-4 complimentary mimosas on this sailboat ride! The staff was fun and knowledgeable! For the price for two with the mimosas wasn't bad at all around $80 for an hr and 3/4 ride. We got a beautiful view of Newport and Narragansett bay! We enjoyed viewing the other ships and homes. Seating is first come first serve but everyone will get a seat before departure. We certainly will come back again as we always enjoy being on the water!

Amanda M.

Yelp
We booked this to do something different in Newport and really enjoyed it! We did the morning mimosa sail which is an hour and 40 minutes. They give a bit of history of the area but mostly it's a chill sailboat ride that was very relaxing. They also were pretty generous with filling up the mimosas which was great and seemed like a friendly well oiled team to go sailing with.

Luzed G.

Yelp
Relaxing and beautiful experience. We took the morning mimosa trip. Great tour guides/staff on the boat. Boat was lovely.
google avatar

Sam B.

Yelp
Beautiful boat, friendly crew, some fun bits of history. Did an afternoon cruise on the Aquidneck, lasted about 1:45. Great option for taking out friends and family visiting from out of town who want some nice views and to be out on the water.

Yelp
Had the mother-in-law and her sister visiting and they wanted to do a sunset tour on a boat. I hadn't gone on one myself so I took them both out for the sunset sail. Since we were at Bowen's Wharf earlier in the day to show them around, we looked at the the sail times and luckily they still had openings for the sunset trip so we bought the tickets then and there and decided to come back that evening for the sail. Later on that evening, we arrived 10 minutes before the boat was set to sail, got on and got a brief (but enthusiastic) spiel on rules while on the boat, etc. While on the trip, there was complimentary beer, champagne, and sodas on board; should've taken note on the champagne they served because it was really good! While out on the water, the guide pointed out several notable places like Fort Adams, Hammersmith Farm (where Jackie O grew up), and a few others. Although it was chilly as the sun was setting, the weather was perfect for the sail and got some wonderful sunset shots. The MIL and her sister (who was visiting from Japan) seemed to enjoy the sailing trip immensely as well. If I have any other family or friends come visit me and want to do a sunset cruise (only available from May to the end of October), I'd definitely go again!

Yelp
This experience is never a disappointment. Took a day sail today. Weather was foggy and bleh, but the crew made the trip great! The sale we went on was byob, I believe no hard liquor. Definitely get on the line earlier enough so you get first dibs on where to sit. Many seats have chair backs, some don't.

Yelp
We celebrated my daughter's bachelorette party aboard the Starlight with captain Sarah. She was so engaging, knowledgeable, easygoing and fun! We had the best time and want to do it again!! 10/10

Yelp
My family is on a driving trip around New England, and my most anticipated stop was Newport, Rhode Island where I had booked a private charter with Sightsailing of Newport. What an awesome day! Captain Paul was great, helping my teens hoist the sails, steer the boat, and tighten the ropes. It was a hands on experience, and I got a thumbs up from everyone in my family. I highly recommend this outing around the harbor to see all the sailing vessels and beautiful scenery of Newport.

Ashley S.

Yelp
Went out with a group and had a lovely evening. The staff is so friendly and attentive! They ensure their passengers are having a great time! Ben was at our beck and call ready to refill our glasses, as we went on the champagne sunset cruise on the Aquideck schooner (Get that boy a raise! Lol!). They shared tidbits and fun facts about Historical Newport throughout the ride. Would highly recommended to visitors here for the weekend, it's fun for all ages and any occasion.

Yelp
Let me start by saying we were very very hesitant to take this tour after a friend recommended it to us. We had never been to those island and never sailed on a sailboat. What a great experience! Five stars to the workers as well as the experience. We purchased our tickets in person and the young girl working there was very friendly and helpful. We even went back to her to ask her questions about Newport and she was friendly and easy to talk to. The sailboat is byob which is also a plus. We went on the 12:10 sail and it was a great time. We had 3 men on the younger side take us on our tour and they did a great job. The guide was very knowledgeable and the "captain" was as well. It made us feel comfortable knowing he doesn't just do this for his job and that he has sailed the east coast on his own before. I would highly recommend this to others!

Yelp
These guys do it right. For $41/person, this is well worth your time and money. The staff is polite, professional and knowledgeable about the landmarks they show you along the sail, ie. the Wharton home (as in the Wharton School of Business) and the wedding reception site of JFK and Jackie O. They even serve you complimentary beer and champagne and hand out ponchos in the event of rain. You can also volunteer to raise the sails if you want. I was not so ambitious. They are proactive toward the end of the sail about soliciting tips, which is probably a little unnecessary considering they leave out a tip jar that you can't possibly miss as you disembark, but that's probably my only gripe. The tours usually start right on time so don't be late!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I sailed a sunset champagne cruise with captain Matt and his crew. They were all amazing and kept the champs flowing! The crew was knowledgeable about sights we sailed by and kept us laughing. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Juli H.

Yelp
My husband and I went sailing on the Aquidneck on Monday morning. This sail was a great experience. They took you past some very interesting historic sites, and we even got to see a seal in the water on the way back! The crew was EXCELLENT, and gave us a lot of good recommendations on places to go while in Newport (thanks Sea Bass)! I would highly recommend this adventure if you are in Newport!

Yelp
Mimosa Sightsailing....let those words sink in. This was the highlight of our trip. While my gf and I were touring the Breakers house, we asked a woman to take a photo of us. She politely obliged but noted that we would be there for a minute as she would like to take a bunch of photos in different poses for us....lucky us haha. Well as it turns out it was this woman's 12th anniversary there and she mentioned that we HAD to try this mimosa sailing trip, so we did. Booked it for the morning before we left to go home and it was sooooo worth it. The trip was only $66 for the both of us and came with complimentary mimosas! How can you beat that. The crew of 3 took us out at 10am for a little over an hour and a half, sailing around the bay dishing out fun facts and history to the guests. The crew was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. This was absolutely a must do on this trip and the best money we spent the whole trip, if you have not done this yet you are missing out.

Yelp
If you're going to Newport you have to go sailing, it's a thing. Sightsailing of Newport is a great option. The staff were very talented and knowledgeable. As they were hoisting the sails they told a few stories about the historic places we sailed next to, which was wonderful, I honestly wish they told more! You can bring your own beverages which I wish we knew first (our fault) but we purchased drink tickets, which you can do before you board and it was a solid alternative. The biggest downfall for me was that a good portion of our was getting in and out of the marina. We would've loved a little more time sailing. Other than that we have a good time, highly recommend bringing a date, visitor or honestly the whole family.
google avatar

Amber B.

Yelp
My family did a sunset charter on the Starlight, and we had a phenomenal experience with captain Sophie. She was SO incredibly accommodating and very fun to chat with during the sail. Highly recommend a charter with this company and captain Sophie!

Cameron K.

Yelp
We booked a sail months in advance and they called about 45 mins before our arrival time to cancel due to weather. We ended up eating dinner outside and it drizzled for a little bit. I was so disappointed they didn't offer to take us out and bring us back in if necessary or offer an abbreviated sail...especially since it barely even rained the whole evening. They were unable/unwilling to offer any time to reschedule. This was one of our main events for our family during our trip and they offered no contacts, options or connections. Also, I paid many months ago and they said we wouldn't get our money back for 3-5 days.

Yelp
It can be difficult to choose a sailing day trip as there are a lot of choices along the waterfront. This is a great choice as the schooner is beautiful, the crew is fun without being corny or annoying, and they let you work the sails if you like. They are very professional and safety minded. We took a day said and the boat was only about half full. The cost includes drinks - mimosas in the morning and cocktails in the evening. They did a nice job sailing up on the Newport Bridge, Fort Adams, and the Wharton House - a different sailing line we took last year did not do that.

Joan W.

Yelp
Took a cruise on the Madeline, a 72' schooner with a crackerjack crew. An hour and a half of Newport Bay history, sea air and entertaining. The captain was welcoming and the mostly all-girl crew were fun and interesting. They made our day super memorable.
google avatar

Yelp
We took a ferry to Newport last summer and after awhile of shopping and walking around my husband wanted to go on a sightseeing cruise. We ended up going on the Aquidneck. The scenery was amazing as well as the crew! They Gave us history of all we saw. It must have been a 2 hour tour or more. I love the water, the more I'm out there the happier I am. The yachts we passed by made my heart melt, like who's living in that? That would be my dream those lucky people. Saw a yacht that had an elevator like what??? Wow just wow. Oh well, back to reality but wow I wish I had a boat so I can go whenever I want and a big enough one to sleep on. Love love the ocean. Ok sorry for my dream, but this was a very fun day for us. Oh did I forget to say that you can BYOB!!!

Yelp
I was surprised by my friends during my bachelorette party with an amazing sunset boat ride with Sightsailing. We boarded first and got 12 seats together. The boat was pretty comfortable and the ride lasted around 2 hours. The boat seated around 40 people. We set out around 6 and we had 2 tour guides who occasionally pointed out interesting landmarks and locations and gave amusing anecdotes. (I can't stand a dry tour guide). During the trip we were all (all the guests on board) given several cups of champagne (or they had beers and soft drinks as well). For what it's worth, I really liked the champagne they had on board. I really liked that overall the boat ride was slow so we weren't cold and constantly being whipped in the face by water. Our weather on Saturday was perfect and we got to see a beautiful sunset. I would definitely recommend this sunset tour to anyone. There's also a bathroom on board which is always a plus in my book.

Yelp
The Mimosa Sail on Eleanor was great! The check in process was very easy and the crew was fantastic. As soon as we all got onboard the sailboat the Captain went over all the safety equipment and told us what to expect on the tour. Total time of the tour was 1.5hrs. The sense of humor of the crew made the trip really fun. They offered plenty of options for the bar and the couple Mimosas I had were delicious. This is a must do activity if you are looking for a fun time and a tour of the island.

Yelp
We booked this for my sister's bachelorette party and we had a blast! Our boat captains were really knowledgeable and so nice! This was my first time on a sailboat, if you get seasick easily you might want to reconsider booking this activity!
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
The captains were the sweetest :) so fun, and grateful. I appreciated their down-to-earth talk, tourist history talk, as well as human perspective of things :)
google avatar

Yelp
We did the private Starlight tour with Jeff and it was definitely a highlight of our time in Newport. Jeff was a great captain and shared his knowledge of the area. Highly recommend taking a cruise with him!
google avatar

Natalie S.

Yelp
Super. Nice experience. Unfortunately, we have to stop for a emergency but they apologized and returned $10 . It was very nice of them. In the morning trip you also can have free mimosa
google avatar

Gigi V.

Yelp
I give 5 Stars for the Madeline and the nice ladies who work the phones taking reservations, their attitudes are beyond pleasant and very professional. We love the Madeline, the wooden Schooner has way more charm than the Aquidneck steel hulled sailboat. The Madeline crew has always been friendly, informative, and fun. They play music, they are great at getting you beers, champagne etc, really make you feel like you're an important guest on their gorgeous boat. The Aquidneck was a different experience. The Captain was a nice guy, great sailor, but the other two first mates were unfriendly, aloof and acted like they were put out if you asked them for a drink (which you have to preorder you buy drink tickets when you buy your sailing tickets). No music, kind of boring and not the greatest vibe on the Aquidneck. As locals, I understand after a busy summer you might be "over" it, but this crew seemed to be cranky and aloof in general. We won't sail the Aquidneck but I'd highly recommend the Madeline.

Yelp
This was the best choice of something to do while in town! We did the sunset sail and it was absolutely beautiful!! Would totally do again and would 100% recommend to do. Staff was amazing!
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
What a great time on the water! Getting out in Newport harbor on a schooner is a must! It was really nice to see the sights from the water. Everyone was very polite and nice. The boat is in perfect shape and the ride was not overly crowded. I wil do this again real soon
google avatar

Yelp
Yesterday I took my grandfather and uncle on a 4:15 sail on SV Aquidneck. We had a fantastic experience. My grandfather is 93, and all he wanted to do while visiting was to go for a sail. He is infirm in his age and uses a walker. The staff and crew were incredibly accommodating in letting us board first. Loved it!

Marie G.

Yelp
I had a great time on the 3pm cruise. The weather was perfect and the crew was great!! I will definitely return!!

Deb D.

Yelp
I have always enjoyed sailing on the Aquidnick at sight sailing. This time was a bit of a disappointment. They did not do much tacking...it was sort of a straight out there and back sail. It missed the fun of a usual sail. Seemed like the crew was a bit lazy. Also, too many people on the boat to move around comfortably. I hope this is not going to be their usual mode of operating for the future.
google avatar

Tara D.

Yelp
I get seasick on land lol somehow I didn't get even remotely sick on this boat. Fantastic cruise from start to finish. Staff was incredibly friendly and professional. Boat was immaculate. Champagne was flowing. The sunset cruise was well worth the price. A great one year anniversary activity
google avatar

Yelp
I highly recommend Sightsailing of Newport to anyone! My group of 12 reserved the "Sightsailer" for a private charter for a Bachelorette party. We were assisted by two gentleman who made the sail so enjoyable! We were able to bring our own beer/wine/champagne aboard along with snacks and were even able to hook up our phones to play our music. We chose the sunset sail which was absolutely beautiful - we even saw dolphins! It was reasonably priced and just the best overall experience. We're still talking about how much fun we had! Thank you!

Melissa S.

Yelp
This was my favorite thing we did on my bachelorette trip to Newport. We chartered the Starlight and it was absolutely perfect and so relaxing. There was only 3 of us but it was worth it having the entire boat to ourselves during COVID. Captain Jeff was amazing and so easygoing. The check in process was easy and the staff were very Friendly. Can not recommend this place enough!
google avatar

Angelo P.

Yelp
Awesome sailing excursion with this company. My wife and I took my nephew and his girlfriend and had an absolute blast! The views where amazing and the crew was super friendly. The trip lasted a little less than 2 hours. The boat was comfortable and spacious. This was the best $35.00 per person I have spent in a long time on an excursion. Check it out if your in the area, you wont be disappointed.
google avatar

Nina G.

Yelp
What an amazing time! Our skipper, Kyle and first mate, Nellie definitely know what they're doing! My husband and I sail quite often -as we have our own 34 ft. sailboat- so it was odd to have someone else in control, but very relaxing just the same. We went out on a day with a great wind, it was smooth sailing and Kyle and Nellie kept the 13 of us very engaged with bits of history & information about the area. Would definitely go again!

Ken B.

Yelp
WARNING. Captain Doug was a no show for a confirmed booking on July 10th. Numerous emails confirmed payment details, date and time specifics including passenger name, age and provision instruction. I followed up w an email on july 9th but no response. My wife and I showed on the 10th only to find out he already was out on a charter. Vacation ruined. Customers be aware!! Ken USCG 100 Ton licensed captain

Yelp
Went aboard the 12:10pm cruise today. Perfect sailing weather. Great crew, personable and knowledgeable. Reasonably priced for the adventure! Just sit back and relax and enjoy the views
google avatar

Mrs S.

Yelp
Took a morning mimosa cruise on the Aquidneck. It was $60 for two people - reasonably priced. They poured a couple rounds of mimosas throughout the ride and we were permitted to bring snacks on board. The boat was beautiful and the staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and funny. They don't speak with a microphone, but will grab the attention of guests and explain cool facts about the sights and some RI history. Overall, a good time.
google avatar

Nick S.

Yelp
Was very skeptical about going on the smaller of the two boats for a fireworks cruise. This was well worth it. Got to bring wine and enjoy the fireworks on a beautiful night in Newport. Awesome

Sam C.

Yelp
Fun! Sunset sail (Aquidneck) - unlimited drinks (water, soda, beer, champagne) built into the admission price. The crew was awesome! I think they went off the vibe of the guests (who seemed to enjoy just socializing amongst their own groups) so they didn't comment as much. The only thing we'd change - we would've appreciated a little more commentary and learning more about the sights we were seeing. Tips - - Keep your phones tucked away!! A girl dropped her phone and in 1 second, it slid off the deck and into the water. - If you're going for an evening sail, bring a light sweater and don't worry about doing your hair just right. It gets very windy on the water!

Yelp
Great experience, we had a wonderful time on a the Starlight. Captain Mary was awesome, she made the entire experience a joy. We highly recommend Sightsailing and especially Mary.
