I do not recommend Sigiriya Village to anyone. They go out of their way to rip you off. The prices listed on the menu seem reasonable at first, but when you check out, they surprise you with hidden taxes and fees that no one ever mentioned. You only find out when it’s too late to do anything about it.
When we checked in, we were told (three times) that breakfast was included in our rate. Then at checkout, they denied ever saying that and charged us for it. Completely unprofessional and dishonest.
The staff were not helpful at all. You have to literally chase them down to get anything done. There’s no sense of hospitality, and everything feels like a hassle.
We also weren’t lucky with our room—there was a constant sound of a leaking toilet all night, the doors kept banging with the wind, and we barely slept. On top of that, the food was mediocre at best, with tiny portions and much more expensive than at nearby restaurants.
Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences at Sri Lanka. Poor service, hidden charges, bad food, and a total lack of care for guests. Avoid this hotel. There are far better options in Sigiriya.
