The Best Hotels in Iceland, From Rural Lodges to Reykjavik Boutiques

"Located right on the harbor with a waterside hot tub, walking into the moss-colored Sigló Hotel feels like entering the home of your most country-chic friend. The rooms all have a daydreamy feel, but it could just be the moody filter that veils the entire town. Most have window benches, offering views of the marina or neighboring mountains. The area has deep ties to herring fishing, which you can (and should!) learn all about at the Herring Era Museum across the street from the hotel. Sunna Restaurant is the hotel’s only dining spot, and the view over the marina and landing pier makes for a wonderfully unconventional appetizer. For the main course, go for the baked cod with a side of seafood soup. For most, Siglufjördur is a stop on a larger road trip, where it’s easy to relax and lose yourself in the misty harbor and its surrounding hiking trails."

We like the quasi remoteness of Siglufjördur and selected Siglo Hotel as our "home away from home". It's our 2nd time that we stayed here, each time 2 nights. The hotel location is perfect right smack in town at the harbor. The staff at the reception is great, the rooms are excellent, we needed an accessible room and I booked a superior room with all the trimmings. Sometimes accessible rooms are not very good, like very small or without view, not here. Great room. Breakfast is plentiful and very varied. We had dinner both evenings but thought the portions were a bit on the large size. Food is ok, there are not many choices is Siglufjördur. We like to come back and highly recommend Siglufjördur and Siglo Hotel

This hotel can’t be beat. It was the taste of luxury we needed, and we wished we had stayed for more than one night. The hot tub is sensational, and the provided bath robes and slippers were perfect. The breakfast was the nicest we had on the trip. Try the Herring. The staff were incredibly hospitable, kind, and welcoming.

A very comfortable hotel close to restaurants and attractions, It faces out onto stunning scenery. It is part of the harbor, and with the in room banquette seating, sitting and looking at the boats and birds passing by the window is a fun way to spend time if the weather is bad. They also have a big hot tub. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. The breakfast is very substantial, and also has the harbor views. The rooms are quiet, clean and spacious.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful spot. The hot pool is a great feature - you can bathe and watch the small harbour with the mountains as a backdrop. Spacious room with excellent views and the hotel open areas are nice. ||We ate in the restaurant first night and it was average - ok food though as often in Iceland, expensive. We were surprised that they could not seat us slightly earlier than booked (15 mins early) in an almost empty restaurant as the chef could not manage with the table of 10 he was already preparing food for. ||The service was very good though and we had a lovely table by the window with a view. ||The lounge is nice (but a little chilly!) and the bar is ok, not cosy though compared to some hotels. ||Lovely team of staff throughout, the front of desk could not be more helpful.

One of the best hotels I have stayed. We didn't try the restaurant as we had dinner elsewhere on both evenings but the breakfast was one of the most delicious breakfasts I have seen. The variety might not be the greatest but it's definitely more than enough and the quality is excellent.|Our room was spacious and felt as if we were coming home. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The best part, however, is the hot tub just outside. We even saw northern lights while sitting in the tub.||If you want to book a stay in norther Iceland, this place is highly recommended.

I knew I was giving this place 5 stars before even getting to see our room. STUNNING location, beautiful views all around. Room was spacious, cozy, and the comfiest bed of our whole stay. Bathrooms have automatic heated floors, hallways have little balconies you can hang out on and enjoy the view. Staff was really nice. My favorite part was the included amenities like breakfast with lots of options, the hot tub outside, WITH a dry sauna and changing facilities/showers right there. Also heard absolutely zero noise from our neighbors. I was sad to leave. The ONE downside that doesn’t even have to do with the hotel is that restaurants in this town are very sparse. For some reason almost all of them were closed when we were there, so we had pretty much no choice but to eat at the hotel restaurant which was $$$$$. But the included breakfast is amazing!!

Lovely hotel. Fantastic location. Clean and well-designed rooms. Didn’t think I’d like the hot tub right at the entrance but it was magnificent! Also enjoyed the lounge area in the evening. Breakfast was solid. Hoped to eat dinner elsewhere but nowhere was open so ended up at the hotel restaurant… it was very expensive. But loved our stay here!
