The Best Hotels in Iceland, From Rural Lodges to Reykjavik Boutiques

"Located right on the harbor with a waterside hot tub, walking into the moss-colored Sigló Hotel feels like entering the home of your most country-chic friend. The rooms all have a daydreamy feel, but it could just be the moody filter that veils the entire town. Most have window benches, offering views of the marina or neighboring mountains. The area has deep ties to herring fishing, which you can (and should!) learn all about at the Herring Era Museum across the street from the hotel. Sunna Restaurant is the hotel’s only dining spot, and the view over the marina and landing pier makes for a wonderfully unconventional appetizer. For the main course, go for the baked cod with a side of seafood soup. For most, Siglufjördur is a stop on a larger road trip, where it’s easy to relax and lose yourself in the misty harbor and its surrounding hiking trails."

I knew I was giving this place 5 stars before even getting to see our room. STUNNING location, beautiful views all around. Room was spacious, cozy, and the comfiest bed of our whole stay. Bathrooms have automatic heated floors, hallways have little balconies you can hang out on and enjoy the view. Staff was really nice. My favorite part was the included amenities like breakfast with lots of options, the hot tub outside, WITH a dry sauna and changing facilities/showers right there. Also heard absolutely zero noise from our neighbors. I was sad to leave. The ONE downside that doesn’t even have to do with the hotel is that restaurants in this town are very sparse. For some reason almost all of them were closed when we were there, so we had pretty much no choice but to eat at the hotel restaurant which was $$$$$. But the included breakfast is amazing!!

Fantastic hotel in the north. We had a superior room, very clean, comfy beds, nice bathroom. The breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired and dinner in the restaurant was also a pleasure to the palate. The small hot tub and sauna are a nice extra. We'd go there again any time

Our stay was, without a doubt, one of our favorite hotel experiences in Iceland. This charming hotel truly has a unique character, offering an incredibly cozy and impeccably clean environment. We especially loved the bay window, which provided breathtaking views of the water and mountains. The delicious breakfast and amazing bath only added to the magic. We were genuinely surprised by how exceptional this hotel was, especially given its reasonable price. It's not just a place to sleep; it's a destination that allows you to relax, savor the moment, and truly escape. We'll absolutely be back!

Beautiful Hotel in a beautiful location! Can't say enough things about the service. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and dinner in the evening just serene and tasty. Would stay here again. Loved the geothermal pool as well. Room was cozy and clean.

Wonderful hotel, super friendly staff and great location! The rooms are clean, stylish and have an amazing view. Soundproof walls and comfortable beds. Enough space for everything and bags and jackets and more. All amenities reflect the price range and I would book here again. I appreciated the desk and chair in the room to work in the evenings. The TV has ambient mode with a fireplace which is such a nice thoughtful extra for the evening! Hot tub and Sauna are a big plus. The hot tub is only open until 22:00 so make sure you go before that time. It would be great if the hot tub was open longer during the summer months when everyone is awake longer anyway - but I understand they want to keep some quiet hours for their guests. Breakfast was ok.

We loved everything about this hotel: from the overall understated but beautiful design to the big comfortable rooms with fantastic beds, great breakfast, the hot pot and sauna with views of the surrounding nature.. would have loved to stay for a few days. Ask for a room with a view of the bay, it’s quiet and beautiful. The small town is worth a detour and has a great maroccan restaurant.

This was our halfway trip break from the camper van trip. The hotel was gorgeous but the staff really made our stay. They were incredibly accommodating, friendly, helpful and really went above and beyond! Would highly recommend!

Siglo hotel is a beautiful hotel. The rooms are big with nice beds and the seating in the window. The staff is so friendly and the breakfast buffet is one of the best I’ve seen. Will definitely come back
