Signal Box Newcastle

I booked Signal Box for my partner’s birthday dinner with friends, and even though it was pouring outside, the atmosphere inside was warm, cozy, and welcoming. What truly made the night exceptional was our waitress, Dani. She was an absolute gem, attentive, friendly, and genuinely invested in making sure we had the best experience possible. I would honestly return just for her incredible service (though the food was also a standout!). Everyone at the table loved their meals from start to finish. I had the lobster rolls to start, short ribs for my main, and crème brûlée for dessert, each dish was beautifully presented and delicious. We all left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend Signal Box, especially if you're lucky enough to have Dani looking after you!

Tried this café in July 2024 during my visit to Newcastle. Booking is recommended, otherwise you might be seated outdoors—which isn’t ideal during winter. The food was great! I enjoyed the Thai fried beef salad—the beef was juicy and flavourful. It was my first time here, and I’d definitely recommend it.

I took my Nan who was visiting from Samoa. Food was top notch, oysters were fresh. The mignonette was the best I've ever had! Risotto had plenty of depth and the right amount of saltiness! Nan loved her pan fried Tuna with salad (yum). The wait staff were friendly and great at conversation making. Highly recommend.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A must-visit in Newcastle! The Signal Box is a standout in Newcastle’s dining scene. The menu offers a great variety and has something for everyone, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and the prices are reasonable for the quality, which makes it even better. But what really made the experience exceptional was the service. The staff were warm, welcoming, and you can see they genuinely enjoy what they do, and it shows. It’s refreshing to be in a place where the team is clearly passionate and takes pride in creating a great experience for guests. A huge thank you to The Signal Box team for making our visit such a memorable one. We’ll definitely be back!

AAA+++. Have to say I was absolutely blown away by Signal Box Newcastle! If you’re looking for world-class creative cuisine, look no further – this place is pure magic on a plate. You can see why it has earned its spot as Newcastle’s top restaurant. If you see the menu, you’ll understand why. Every dish looks absolutely irresistible. I was lucky enough to try the mushroom arancini balls and WOW – hands down the best I’ve ever had. Pure perfection👍👍 The creativity mindset and the ability of the chef really shines through. The attention to detail and passion for food was evident in the presentation and tatse. Have to say I am already planning to visit again to try the barramundi dish, if it’s anything like the arancini, I’m in for another incredible meal. Truly donn’t walk, RUN to Signal Box. You’ll be kicking yourself if you don't. Thank you to the chef and entire team for creating something truly special for my lunch!!! AAA+ experience all around!

We literally came here because we could find a parking spot. Thai beef salad was excellent. Nice restaurant making use of Newcastle's historical places. From interstate so a one off visit.

The staff are amazing!! They’re very polite and provide an amazing service. The food is always tasty and beautiful.
