Yelp
This is absolutely the best place to stay anywhere in the Teton/Yellowstone area. Comfortable beds, charming rooms, amazing lake views, and the best food in either park... These are just a few of the perks you'll enjoy here!
This lodge is situated in the center of Grand Teton National Park, a 30 minute drive to Jackson Hole airport or to the south gate of Yellowstone. It's just a quick drive to Jenny Lake, swimming at String Lake, and numerous hiking trails.
The property has several amenities onsite, including a gas station, convenience/general store, campgrounds, boat launch, casual restaurant (Trapper's Grill), fine dining restaurant (The Peaks), souvenir shop, and pub (Deadman's Bar). Both restaurants are surprisingly good by any standards and very reasonably priced - a welcome change from the crappy, overpriced park food you'll find everywhere else!
The reception/lobby building doubles as a multi-use/ lounge area for guests. There is wi-fi throughout and separate areas with tables, chairs, & couches for working and relaxing. Two communal computers are available as well as cable TV for your daily fix. In the morning there is great fresh-brewed coffee for you to enjoy on the back porch or take on the road. You can also re-fill on ice here - They dole it out for free by the sackful.
We booked late and had to do a room change for our two-night stay. The first night we were in a "rustic cabin", which turned out to be a super charming, cozy log cabin with two heated bedrooms, bathroom, and mini-fridge. The beds were so comfortable, this was the best night's sleep of the trip. As an added bonus, we happened to have a great view of Lake Jackson!
The second night we moved into one of the more expensive "upper lake view" cabins. The view here was totally unobstructed and panoramic... Awesome, basically! This cabin had a kitchenette with burners, full-sized fridge, and microwave. There were two queen beds and a sleeper sofa. Though this cabin had a better view and was a little bigger than where we were the first night, we still preferred the more charming rustic cabin, which was outfitted with comfy beds for five of us (two queens + 1 twin).
We signed up for a scenic float tour down the snake river, which I highly recommend. It was $60/head - the same price as float trips run by outside vendors. Our guide, Caleb, shared all kinds of cool information about the park history, geology, wildlife, etc. He also knew all of the best places to see big game. Great tour!
Definitely stay at Signal Lodge if you are looking for a home base in the Tetons! Check out my separate reviews for both restaurants.
