On the Grid : Significant Elements

"You never quite know what you will find there, which makes going so much fun. They have reclaimed clawfoot tubs, way too many toilets and sinks, wood moldings and ornate hardware, furniture, doors, and other salvaged goodies. Well worth your time to explore the multi-floor collection of goods for sale. They also repair furniture as part of their preservation mission." - St. John Design Group

Such a cool store with so many antiques and salvaged materials that have been saved from the landfill! We’ve gotten many things here to help give our newer home a bit more character. The staff are all great and super friendly and helpful too!

It's an antique store that you would like to shop if you do" Fix and Upper" on your house. So many cool stuff from the past! However, I didn't buy anything because we're travelling. You need to have enough car space to come here.

If you are looking to remodel your home, with vintage parts, this is your place. Each floor has different products and it is all donated and nonprofit sales. Great finds are to be found here.

Yelp
This has become a must-visit spot for me when in Ithaca. You just never know what kind of weird or wonderful thing you might find. As someone who owns a 110-year-old house, there are always little things I'm on the hunt for--from doorknob parts, to wood trim pieces, to light fixtures. My husband is a woodworker, so he also likes exploring the offerings for elements to incorporate in his designs. From salvaged lumber to old cabinet hardware, there's almost no end to the creative potential! On the upper floors, it's always fun to explore the furniture and fixtures (even though we rarely have room in the car to bring anything home to Buffalo). If you love old homes or old thing in general, you'll have a great time and probably make some surprising finds!

Yelp
A real gem in Ithaca. In addition to doing the important work of salvage, Sara and her team know how to talk about architecture and building in ways that you won't find elsewhere. You will always find amazing things here. It is fun to just go look at things: kind of like a history lesson. I ahve found furniture, tiles, lamps, dishes, building materials and cabinets here. I have gotten cool tools. Just an amazing business not to be missed. If we ever get out of COVID times, plan a trip there to look around and be sure you go to ALL FOUR FLOORS!

Yelp
I have been following this place on Facebook for some time now and finally pulled the plug and made the drive down to Ithaca to take a look around. We recently bought our first house and have been scouring at salvage stores in Buffalo, NY for pieces that put the character back into our 100 year old house, but have struggled to find certain pieces due to the larger population etc. we thought going to Ithaca would give us more items to search through. We were happy to find out that we were right and they had much more available and the store was even less crowded then those in Buffalo. What we were not happy to find out about were the prices! They were astronomical! We ended up purchasing only two matching door knob sets for $110. Moral of the story is, they have a large quantity of beautiful architectural/decorative pieces but they are going to cost significantly more than other salvage stores.

Yelp
Very helpful people, got a replacement window for a cold frame for my garden here. The guys found me one that's lead-free and fit perfectly into our frame. I'm so thankful. The place is chockful of interesting things - it smells like Histories - I was particularly drawn to a "map" or a illustration of Ithaca from the early 1800's - wondering what I see in the pic was West Hill or Cornell side of town .. or South Hill. Anyway what this first reviewer says about this place is true! A very cool place!

Yelp
I am in love. A large and varied selection with excellent prices. I could spend hours here.

Yelp
Please be cautious purchasing from this store. I purchased a piece of furniture (for a decent price) and when it was picked up the next day, the hardware had been stripped. When I called to speak to a manager regarding this, I was informed that the dresser was "certainly not" changed and had been there for "years" even though it was not marked before I bought it. The only solution that I was offered was a store credit, which is pretty useless considering they won't be getting any of my future business. The other reviews regarding the variety and history of items available are certainly true, but PLEASE don't leave anything there for pick up later, you may not get what you paid for.
