Sig's Lagoon Record Shop

I recently visited this record shop, and I was pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome I received as soon as I walked in. The staff were friendly and eager to help, which set a positive tone for my visit. The shop was quite crowded during my visit, which was a bit of a downside, but it’s a testament to how popular this place is! Despite the hustle and bustle, there was plenty to explore. They have a large variety of records and a plethora of fun items to browse through. Overall, it's a great spot for music lovers and collectors alike. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area!

I ordered online and came in to pick up and was presently surprised. Not only by the knowledge of the employees but the selection they had. The prices where fair and they had new and used vinyls for sale.

I stopped by Sig’s Lagoon, and it was honestly such a cool spot. Once you’re in, the vibe is super chill and relaxed. I spent a good amount of time flipping through all the vinyls they’ve got a solid collection. I ended up buying a megadeth vinyl, and it came out great really good quality. The staff were cool too, felt like they actually enjoy working there and being around music. Definitely a hidden gem for music lovers.

This is such a cool place! The records are exceptionally well organized. Everything is really easy to find. The staff is really helpful. I was particularly looking for punk. There was a really wide selection. Parking can be a little difficult. The only parking I've been able to find when I've gone has been paid parking. But it's only about $8. Absolutely worth it!

I'm not sure if Sig's Lagoon is well known or how poplar it might be, but if you blink, you just might not notice this gem. I happened to come across this hole-in- the-wall as I was searching for a coffee place to drink. Luckily, my search took me to Double Trouble next door & that's when I noticed this record shop. And when we walked in, my eyes popped out of my socket. Took me back to a time when vinyl was the main steam. Their records are categorized by genre and by name. Anything you can think of, they probably have it. And there's an upstairs too. If you have a record player and you're looking for an album, maybe an anthology, then I highly recommend stopping by. Even just to look, it's very nostalgic. Enjoy the experience...

Quaint little record shop, awesome variety of music genre’s. It was a lot busier than I’d expected, people kept coming and going like a revolving door. The staff was very nice as my wife accidentally left her card in the machine and they kept it safe till we returned to pick it up. Thank you guys and for whoever turned it in.

Sig’s Lagoon is one of those places you almost don’t want to share with your friends because there are some real gems you can find here. The owner is a real lover of music and you can definitely tell if you ever take the time to talk to him, what he isn’t aware of he is willing to find out about to better serve Houston. You can find local artists physical media, and the used selection is some amazing stuff if you are first to get your eyes on it. The selection is massive and if you have a keen eye you won’t be let down. But even for the neophyte collector you can find some really great stuff to broaden your collection and even your horizons. Punk, metal of all kinds, country, hip hop, jazz, post-punk, psyche-garage, electronica etc Like I always say: the places that I am very passionate about and rate on google maps is to give the next generation or urban explorers alike a road map to follow in which you might find literal treasure. Houston has many excellent features and most of them come in the form of local businesses, give them your patronage, don’t let them become another urban legend.

Badass great record store. Every time I come I always find everything that I need from r&b to rock to rap and even DJ screw dubs. I highly recommend if you're a vinyl collector like I am to come and check him out. They have official release press vinyls and unofficial release vinyls as well and some hidden gems in here if you spend a couple of hours and looking. Always great customer service. And if you're looking for something specific always let them know at the front and they will help you out. The location is great as well it goes with the vinyl scene. Grungy next to the Metro station. You'll catch anybody around here. Love coming to this place and can't wait to finish my vinyl collection. five stars just for the decor in the store. sig's lagoon is so cozy and well decorated. it has lots of options and i love that they give free store stickers!!! we particularly enjoyed the second floor because it had a lot of what we were looking for. it was labeled by artist which was really helpful as well and made looking for vinyls quick and convenient. we got two used vinyls from wings and led zeppelin for around $20. i think they were a bit cheaper, if not the same, here then they would be elsewhere. it was a bit hot on the second floor but nothing unbearable. i really like how the staircase wall is decorated at well :) would come again!

You know it's going to be a bad day for my bank account when I make my way here. They have a wide variety of genres, and I'm sure you'll find something you want to leave with. The staff don't really say much, but I'm the type that likes to be left to my own devices when I'm in a vinyl store, so I don't mind. Their vinyls are reasonably priced, and they have an upstairs as well.

Super cool vintage vinyl shop that could keep you here for hours! The whole store is very welcoming from the moment you walk in. Everything is very well organized and there's a huge selection of records to go through. The staff were very knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. We were able to find artists that we haven't seen at other record stores. The only downside is that parking along the street can be tough. This place is awesome!

So glad to have stumbled across this record store! It is expansive and includes amazing catalogs of vinyls, posters and older cds. The space includes two floors and ranges from jazz to rock to new age albums. There is something for everyone and the staff was friendly. Was able to get an album for a reasonable price compared to other competitors. Love that you can also sell any vinyls you have to the store!

I'm a CD girl and there wernt any which was sad. They had a wide selection of vinyls. But no Frank Ocean. Prices were average but the posters were set at an amazing price. Picked up a Pink Pony Club 7 inch, would've gotten the igor poster if it wasn't sold out.

Exceptional store, with exceptional staff, exceptional service and exceptional people, the upstairs and downstairs are both great and they have a wide variety of music, nerd, and geek culture items and paraphernalia. Rather chill and relaxed store if you're browsing for music or something to play your music on. Best record store around and all the staff clearly know a bit about what they're selling. There's no pressure walking in or out of the store.

Very cool vinyl shop with a wide selection and reasonable prices. The staff made some excellent recommendations for gift purchases. Do you searching and you might get lucky and find some hidden gems among the volumes available.

Very large selection of records and very cool shop to go in! Newer records are normally msp prices, but great deals on older records. Large collection of New Age music, rap, and classic rock. A fair bit of jazz records too.

This place is a haven for vinyls lovers! Expect to spend some time here, combing thru endless amounts of lps. And don't forget to visit the upstairs for even more of a treat. Left with 6 records and will be back again!

Great record shop - amazing selection! They are packed to the brim and have all types of music genres, artists and some fun collectibles. Staff was really friendly and I was allowed to bring my small dog in with me (he was in a backpack carrier). Will be going back again!

First time here and I loved it! It smelt like old cardboard right when you walked in there were tons of record sections and a beautiful upstairs. There was also I cool sleeping area with a skeleton above the stairs. Make sure you check it out!!

My girlfriend and I just started collecting vinyl. We found a few records at Best Buy, Target or Walmart but really wanted to find cool variants and rarer releases. This store is the answer! As soon as you walk in you know you're in a special place. So much to see. You won't know which direction to walk in first. The staff is very nice and helpful as well. Parking isn't the best outside but you'll eventually find something within the block radius I'm sure.

Absolute gem of a spot. I got a James Blake album I haven't seen EVER on vinyl and the man behind the counter was very helpful in helping me find it. They have a bit of everything for everyone. I only had a few minutes to drop by, but I'll be back for sure.

Sig's lagoon is quintessential record store . Walls covered in flyers and promo posters and full of every imaginable genre in vinyl. A cavernous feel. If you're a crate digger or looking for a new release, you will find something. here. there is street parking and its in idle of mid ai street parking or a 3 minute walk from light rail.It also has CDs and cassettes, bobble heads and audio equipment to feed your habit. The services unobtrusive , but very good. The upstairs area is used vinyl and throughout the store there of bins of 3$ vinyl A first choice be careful time spent here flies you are hunting through bins and crates, and your late for dinner

Great store! Awesome collection, very diverse, oodles and oodles of albums from duke Ellington to deff leppard. I was offered assistance almost as soon as I walked in. Great prices too! I don't live in Houston but I will visit every time I come!

This record shop is cool. In just one visit I found a bunch of vinyl I'd been hunting for across the last few years. Also, the staff were wicked knowledgeable to chat with, and that was enjoyable.

The GPS will not lead you to the correct place, but the panic you have when you realize they close in 15 minutes and you drove all this way is worth it once you get inside. This hole in the wall place is FILLED with records, both new albums like the brand new Lorde vinyl and unique things I've never seen anywhere else. They have a Mondo section. They have a Record Store Day section. They have a soundtracks section so large my head almost popped off. There was a girl taking senior photos against the rows of vinyls, which also added to the aesthetic a bit I think. There was an upstairs we never made it to due to timing, but thank goodness we only had a few minutes because we already had 5 records and they are not cheap. They play "Closing Time" by Semisonic when it's time to go. I can't tell if it's funny or kind of rude, but I smirked a bit while pointing it out to my boyfriend so he'd make his way to the register. If you love records, you HAVE to come here. There's bound to be something - or fifteen somethings - you'll need to add to your collection.

Hands down best vintage vinyl shop in Houston and the coolest vinyl store to visit. Along with Vinyl Edge in the Heights, this shop has the most reasonable prices compared to Cactus. Houston is really limited to these three shops for quality vinyl shopping.

They have one of the largest selections in the Houston area along with very knowledgeable staff. You can decide to spend hours going through every record or ask a question and get a specific answer within seconds.

This place has so much character its overwhelming. My uncle loves Glenn Miller and was thinking they couldn't possibly have his vinyls there.. They freakin did! This place has everything!!!

I'm not sure what the coolest part of this store is. Is it the Tiki Mig collection? Is it the massive amount of records? Is it the wicked cool decor? The -record store smell-? I have to go with all of it. This place is the bomb. Great stuff playing when you come into shop, I hope you wear comfortable shoes. You will be here a while looking.

I have only been collecting vinyl seriously since 2012, but a music lover/enthusiast since 1987 where I landed my first job at Camelot Music when I got my license. Sig's Lagoon reminds me of a record store (but better) from my youth...it has great retro style, always good music playing and namely one of the best organized shops I've ever experienced. Enjoy the mix of used and new vinyl. The $3 bins are worth a looksy! They also sell some starter and advanced hi-fi equipment to get you set-up for your vinyl/stereo needs.

This used to be my favorite store to visit when in Houston. Lots of stock, good variety of genres, and they had a special section for 12" records. I always walked out of there with something. I don't know what has transpired over the last year or so but damn...has it gone to hell. First - the prices are ridiculous. Way over priced. For example: I want your sex by George Michael is in every $5 used record bin in the country. They have it for $12. You can buy one in mint condition and have it shipped to your house from Europe for less than $12. My son likes hip hop, so I perused what they had. The Outkast Stankonia lp was $25 used - you can buy it for 28 brand new. On the wall, they had a prince record store Day release with a price tag on it for $81. Another record store in the area had the same thing about 10 copies of it for the actual retail price of $30. The Weekend lp - $15 dollars cheaper everywhere else It's price gouging pure and simple - which on RSD stuff is strictly forbidden. While we are on the subject of RSD, they were unpacking a lot of stuff so I asked if they were getting ready for Black Friday. The clerk then proceeded to "mansplain" to me how record store day works. First, I've probably been buying records since before he was born. In addition, not only have I worked in record stores but I also have an LLC for my own record store. Thanks for the mansplain though - dick. I'm surw whatever they we're unpacking will be priced 10 to $20 higher than everywhere else. There are far better record stores in the Houston area with lower prices and less attitude. I don't understand how they stay in business with those prices. This is a perfect example of a record store that sells records to people who don't know how to buy records. Newbies think they scored - real collectors know when they're being ripped off. Maybe that's why there's never any customers when I go in there.

Visited this awesome record store this past weekend. Huge selection of artists. The store clerk was really nice and helpful!! Definitely will be going back. I hate records are so expensive now, but definitely worth it!

I went out to look for a very specific vinyl but they didn't have it. But I came out with a couple of vinyls I've been wanting. They have a solid selection.

We first stopped in this place a few weeks ago and I cannot believe that I waited as long as I did to check it out! First things first, the place is downtown so parking is a hot mess. If you're lucky to snag a spot in front, more power to ya, but if you're like me then you're gonna have to park along the side streets and make the short walk to the door. Not too bad during the week, but on weekends, parking is hard to find. Now to the good stuff. I love their selection and lay out! Downstairs consists of new vinyl, soundtracks, hip-hop/rap and r&b, soul and their bargain bins! Make sure to look at the bins on the floor because for sure you're going to find some awesome gems. When we visited, we found a lot of great bargain records for $1-$3, good deal. Upstairs is full of used records and more bargain bins. You can spend literally spend hours here and you'll still find more and more stuff. Like I said, I love their lay out of their store, I think that they have everything organized pretty well but I just don't like how small the walk ways are. If 2 people are trying to navigate the same aisle, you're both bound to be in a stand off on which one of you is going to move out of the way just so that the other person can walk through. Not a big deal but it's a downer, especially when you're digging your way through the crates on the floor. The gentleman who was behind the counter during our visit was very nice and when I asked about a particular vinyl he came out to help me look for it. My other small issue with this place is that they don't have a public restroom. Not cool, especially if you plan to be here for a long time digging. Other than that, this is a very cool place!

Sig's is a really special place. I love visiting record stores with charm and character, and it really fits the bill. The walls are plastered with all kinds of music posters - While the place is small, and sometimes challenging to walk through if it's busy, it boasts a really impressive selection of vinyl, both old and new. They have bargain bins, too, which is great. Prices are all across the board here - you'll find some good prices, and maybe some not-so-good prices, but all in all, you'll find something you love here. The other cool thing are the various little knick knacks and things Sig's sells. they have one of the raddest -shirt designs I've ever seen, and they even have tiki mugs for sale there! Be sure to check those out - they have had different styles every time I've walked in there. The owner and staff are all super pleasant, too, and they will happily play a record for you if you wish to try before you buy. Parking can be a bit of an issue, since it's all street parking, but if you're patient, you can usually find a spot. But it's in a cute area, where a cup of coffee or a taco are just a short walk away from the shop. I make it a point to come to Sig's every time I am in town, and if you are a vinyl lover, you should, too!

It was my first time there and I loved it so much. I felt like a child at a candy store. This place has everything! The prices vary, but there are many affordable finds. I bought 7 vinyls and they were all $3-$10. I found so many great artist like Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Dion, Billie Holiday, Bing Crosby and soo many others I wish I had more time to look through every record. Side note* Don't park at the food stop across the street. You'll probably get towed. I attempted to and a man (possibly the owner) watched my friend and I enter Sig's. Staring us down. After a few minutes I just gave in and moved the car.

They have a real good selection of new records and old records .

One of the first places I hit up for Record Store Day. I really like this little strip of eccentric boutique shops and Sig's is a little pearl of a shop. You can find a little bit of everything vinyl, cd's, swag, collectibles, and yes previously mentioned bobble heads. What I really enjoy about this shop is that it is 100% Houston Local.

Definitely didn't live up to the Yelp hype in my book. All off there more expensive used records were all scratched and not in good condition... at least all the ones I was interested in. I'm a collector, but also play my vinyl treasures on a daily basis. I've spent $100's to even over $1,000 on a few records. They had lots of $50+ records that ere in pretty poor condition. The new record selection wasn't fantastic, but not terrible either. Very tough to find a parking place anywhere near the store front as well. I will certainly give them another chance though.

This place is a hidden gem!! First time here, this place is so full of inventory we could have stayed here all day!! The Art Deco on the walls are eye catching along with mini records hanging from the ceilings. There is an upstairs as well. Kuddos to James who assisted us in finding our vinyl records! Will definitely be coming back to visit! We are from San Antonio.

of all the record stores ive been to in the houston area, this is by far my favorite. huge stock of vinyl, and the vibe of the shop is so cool. employees are also very nice and helpful

Been to sigs lagoon about 10+ times but I unfortunately don't go there any more not because of the records or anything because if I'm honest they have several records and it's quite a nice vinyl store no doubt abt it only thing that I just hateeee abt it is the owner!!! I'm almost 100% sure he is the owner because every time I would go he would always be there and when I tell y'all this man is soooo rude and just not nice at all!!! His attitude is just soooo ugly and it's unfortunate because he has such a nice store but has a nasty attitude with customers. I'm Not the type of person to just stop going somewhere just because of somebody but it just rlly annoyed me when I would spend up to $100+ each time I would go for him to check me out with an attitude and stale face and I just no longer felt like giving this man my money when he can't even be nice to a regular paying customers don't recommend giving this man your money at all!

This is the only good record store I've been to in Houston!! I've tried others, but none have as many records as Sig's. They have rare records, and super cheap prices.

Cool record store with tons of vinyl albums. Upstairs they have a $3 section. Found 12 albums yesterday. All for $3 a piece and seem to be in excellent condition. The decor in this record store is so cool. Enjoyed digging through the records!

A nice little record store with a cool vibe and a decent selection. If they don't have what your looking for they'll order it for you too. The main guy, who I think is the owner, is very helpful and polite. For the most part their prices are fair. I wouldn't say they are great, but I understand a business has overhead expenses and whatnot, so even though I could probably find some of the records cheaper online I prefer to support these guys. For some items like limited edition LPs and signed records you will be hard pressed to find anywhere else. A small downside is parking. Finding a parking spot can be tricky. I've always gotten lucky and found a spot on Travis St.

I went there looking for jazz which notably seems expensive off the bat but when I went in there all the jazz was marked up way higher than the regular prices they go for. One record I own that I got for a dollar at a yard sale and it's worth 16 dollars was 200 in there I swear to you. Another one I have that goes for 27-35 was 100 in there. If you want jazz don't go here unless you're ready to pay big markups for relatively common records. eBay is better than this.

Best record store in the world. If you dig vinyl and like a creative music store you will love Sig's!

This place has everything including a cool vibe. Dropped by here with my wife and kid while hanging out downtown and ended up spending a lot of time looking through a the records and memorabilia. I definitely recommend stopping by and taking a look

Sig's Lagoon is what other music stores in town (Sound Exchange & Cactus Music notwithstanding) wish they could be. Thomas and crew are helpful, knowledgeable and extremely cool to boot. Besides local and unusual CD's, its got many releases on vinyl for those audiophiles and vinyl purists out there. Oh and any music store that is surrounded by bars and taquerias is A+ in my book!

OK, for some reason, I have neglected to review Sig's and Sound Exchange for a while. Both I have been a customer at for years. Though I never visited as much as say All Records or Vinyl Edge. It is a wonder why, for both places. Downstairs is packed full of mostly used, with a few bins for new vinyl. The Blues and Jazz selection is out of this world good. Not only volume wise, but for shear quality. Somethings are a bit more pricey than I would like, but most are reasonable. There is a $3 bin, plus the regular stuff. Which can range from $5-60. Though the pricey stuff, is, well, awesome. I picked up some Stanley Turrentine, and Ray Charles. They will get some pretty obscure Metal and Punk records as well. Upstairs, as was explained to me...was everything else. :) The person working the register was so happy to show me around and chat. It has been a while since my last visit, so he was more than happy to reorient me. If people think that record stores begin and end with Cactus in Houston, they are selling themselves short. This is an awesome, funky, quirky spot that is as good as any I have been to.
