Very friendly and beautiful. Wines are amazing.

Google
Great collection of white wines. They have a unique white “Roussanne” and I liked it a lot. Their Chardonnay is pretty good as well. Overall liked this winery, definitely not in my top 10 for white wines.

Google
Great winery with very friendly staff! We went on Memorial Day and were lucky enough that the staff was able to fit us in with a day-of reservation, when most other wineries in the area were fully booked. Super happy with the outcome; our host Hiro was very attentive and helped tell the story of all the wines we sampled, which were great - we went with the standard $25 flight since it included two whites and a rose which were nice as it was a hot day out. Silenus is also unique in that they are a 'Custom Crush' facility and sample wines from other winemakers who use their site as part of the flight. This meant that we got to try a variety of different wines, and one of the tastings was also comped after we bought two bottles. The tasting room is easy to get to plus they have a large outdoor picnic area. We did our tasting outdoors and they had good COVID protocols in terms of masks indoors + sanitization. Looking forward to coming back when we are next in the area!

Google
HIRO at the Silenus Winery was the host with the most. We had no reservation but qere greeted with open arms. We left there with a buzz, an education on wine, the area, the history of the establishment, and few referrals for other places to visit and eat during our stay. We bought 2 bottles of wine, waiving the tasting fee and 2 signature glasses. It was an awesome experience. We sat by the fire , but there was a lov ely garden and out side patio.

Google
Wonderful place! Hannah was a gracious host. Pinot and Grenache were outstanding.

Google
Great wine and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We are not wine drinkers and never did a tasting before. The lady walked us through everything and was very helpful and a great experience!

Google
We had a fabulous time at Silenus Winery. There were 5 of us who did 3 different tasting flights. We enjoyed most of the wines and one guest joined their Artisan Wine club. Hiro was our host and he was wonderful. I can't say enough good things about how much fun he made the tasting for us. He was knowledgeable, fun, kind, and gave us terrific recommendations on wine and dinner options. We also took advantage of their bring your own picnic option. It was the perfect activity for our last day in Napa Valley. Visiting Silenus was a definite highlight of our trip!

Google
The best thing about Silenus is that they have something for everyone! They don’t only serve their label but others as well. Many options. Reasonably priced tasting.

Yelp
We came here for a large group event. Silenus was very kind and accommodating of our large group. They did charge a venue fee of almost $400 on top of the standard purchase of 1 bottle per 2 people for the picnic experience. But, they were very open and friendly about us bringing in catering for the event as well. We got 14 bottles of wine total. The suavignon blancs, chardonnay, Malbec, and pinot noir were what we opened. They were good. Some better than others. The Malbec was surprisingly light and less flavorful than expected. The chardonnay was great. The pinot noir was also very good. Overall, beautiful winery with a very casual atmosphere for relaxed hanging out in perfect weather. The staff are friendly and kind. The wines are good and reasonably priced.

Yelp
We came here on a wine tour as one of our last stops. Our group sat outside when it was quite warm but a nice place overall. They have wine flights that we all enjoyed. I opted for the rose and I really only enjoyed the one - No Love Lost. Got to taste a sip of some of their other wines and some are also pretty decent. Overall an alright Winery, there's some parking.

Yelp
The three of us went to Silenus Winery for a 1pm tasting. Ken was so accommodating and informative about wine-making and local history. We brought a picnic lunch (from Oakville Grocery up the 29) and then played Bocce Ball. Truly a wonderful green space to enjoy delicious wines and a relaxing afternoon.

Francyn M.

Yelp
Excellent tasting. Can not say enough about this lovely collective. Hanna is an amazing person who adds such fun and knowledge to a lovely afternoon. Beautiful grounds Excellent wines Very fair pricing.

Kevin H.

Yelp
My wife and I had an enjoyable time at this smaller winery that showcases a few other wines as well as their own. Our host (I think Ken was his name) was very knowledgeable not only about the wines, but about the surrounding area's history which we found interesting. We just moved to the area and he gave us some recommendations! This relaxed atmosphere was perfect for the experience we were hoping for. Beautiful garden area. I was a fan of the Cabernet Franc, and my wife and I both enjoyed the Sauvignon blanc we tasted. Highly recommend!

Holly J F.

Yelp
Hero was our wine educator and he was very knowledgeable and professional. The wine was very good!

Jim A.

Yelp
We had a fantastic time! Hero was our host and was great. This was our fourth trip to Napa and the tasting was one of our favorites!

Yelp
Hidden gem of Napa valley! My friends and I brought our own food and picnicked in their beautiful outdoor garden! No other places let visitors enjoy own picnic food. The interior of the main reception area is well decorated with modern furniture, and outdoor furniture is also new and equipped with heater if needed. Hiromu was super helpful and knowledgeable about wine and history of this winery. He made our experience so special! We will be back for their spring Wine and Chocolate event!! I highly recommend anyone to visit this winery!

Yelp
I'm surprised this place is still so low-key, they truly do everything so well! Try it out, but do so understanding that you'll probably want to become a member. First off, ask for Hannah. She's a total rockstar, with all sorts of valuable insight, kindness and patience. Need a suggestion for something to keep your kids entertained? Ask Hannah. Advice on wine pairing, the insight scoop on the industry? Ask Hannah. World Peace? It's a stretch, but why not? Ask Hannah! Silenus is a wonderful winery, with a beautiful outdoor area with a stage. It's perfect for a romantic date, or even with the whole family. Their parties are really fun and the quality of the wine is fantastic. In a market flooded with competition, Silenus is quietly crushing it.

Yelp
Always enjoy coming here with friends and family! The staff is really nice and always welcoming. They have a great outdoor place to have a picnic or hang around. They have a great variety on their menu and it's all really great! I feel confident whenever I ask for the staff's recommendations or whichever wines they love. It's definitely a great place to come taste some wine and enjoy the atmosphere. We always love the vibes we get coming here and the wines are always delicious which is a plus!

Yelp
Really love this place. The team that works here is... well it's like visiting family, you know, the family you like, not the crazy ones. We always have such a joyful experience here and they are so knowledgeable welcoming. To me, this is one of Napa's greatest treasures.

Yelp
We reserved a tasting at Silenus because it is one of a few places in Napa that accepts tasting reservation for a group of more than 6 people (our group was originally 7). They gave us a private room, which was great. The tasting room is a nice, open space that feels inviting. Alyssa was our hostess, and she was friendly and knowledgeable and very accommodating. Silenus offers a wide variety of wines to taste, both from their own label as well as other labels. The wines themselves were OK; we tasted some that we loved and others that we found underwhelming, but it was nice to have a broad selection. Despite these qualities, I cannot give it more than 3 stars because the customer service is lackluster. First, our party shrank from 7 to 6 due to some last minute childcare issues. The staff was reluctant to refund/cancel the tasting fee for the person who didn't show, even though we bought 8 bottles of wine from our tasting. After some negotiation, they did relent, but this should not be an issue; it's not like we were no-shows. We went to 2 other wineries that day, and nobody else had an issue with refunding the tasting fees for the person who didn't show up. Second, someone at the winery made a derogatory comment about a member of our party to our wine tour driver, which is unacceptable. This person in our party is not a big wine drinker but paid for a tasting anyway. She spent most of the time walking around the tasting room looking at the decor and was doing some light stretching while the rest of us were tasting. The comment made about her was couched as "concern" but seemed off-base, even to our driver. It definitely put a damper on the vibe of our day, and she felt singled out unnecessarily.

Yelp
I'm really not here to rain on the parade. I really enjoyed my tasting experience at Silenus Winery, but was it the best wine I've ever had, unfortunately, no. My favorite wine here was the Rose, (because I'm basic like that), but it was also 95+ degrees when we went here, so I really needed something more refreshing after a long trek from Yountville. Every winery has an audience, and while I may not be part of that audience, I am not going to knock this winery too hard for not appealing to my tastes.

Yelp
Silenus Winery was our second and final winery for the day. We made reservations ahead of time due to Covid. My friends and I opted for the Vintners Tasting for $25 (tax included) which came with 6 tastings. We also had a friendly complimentary 7th tasting of a different wine. The tasting was a mix of reds and whites. I like white wines, but am always open to trying reds. My favorite was the 2019 Jana Dry Riesling. Our sommelier Sue was so friendly and informative. She made our experience really enjoyable in addition to the wines already tasting great and the winery in general being so cute, cozy, and having an intimate ambience. It was a pleasure connecting with her. I highly recommend coming to Silenus Winery! It's a smaller winery, but provides an intimate beautiful setting with great wine! It was also about a 17 minute bike ride from Domaine Chandon in case you are planning for your biking for wine trail.

Yelp
Silenus is one of my favorite go-to vineyards around Napa. They have two tasting options coming which are great! They also allow you to reserve a picnic table and by a bottle per two people, and you can bring outside food. I love getting Foodshed Takeaway pizza and coming here. The cute space by the picnic tables is so nice. The people who work here and are very friendly! They also are very dog friendly, which I love. One of the more relaxed/casual experiences on Napa.

Yelp
Oh my goodness what a find. I'm half tempted to not write a review because I don't want too much word to get out. Right off 29 and super easy to get to. We went on a Saturday, at 1pm, peak time of wine country insanity. Silenus was serene and welcoming. Two tasting options, regular ($20, waived with purchase of 2 bottles), reserve ($40, waived with purchase of three bottles). Tasting by reservation only, but you can call the day of to see if they have availability. Their tasting menu changes every week, so every time you come you will have a chance to try different wines. They have Silenus wines, and eight other winemaker's wines. There is a lovely shaded outdoor area with picnic tables and bocce ball. I've been looking to become a member at another wine club, and while I wasn't ready to make the commitment today, there is a very high likelihood that I will join the next time I am here....which will hopefully be sooner rather than later. Highly recommend, but like, don't tell too many of your friends. Let's keep the vibe chill, you know?

Yelp
Awesome staff and wine! Recommend highly for a small co-op winery experience!!! Silenus has their own label along with several wine makers.

Yelp
The Century Oaks on this property were butchered. It's a real shame now they're going to start to drop branches. Couldn't even consider the wines.. Tree sadness overwhelmed.. Would have been safer to hire an Arborist.

Yelp
My hubby and I went up to Napa for his buddy's wedding. Of course, none of the guys booked ahead and when we got there, the girls had to figure out where we were going for wine. Being Friday, everything was booked as we called winery after winery. Silenus was the only place that could squeeze us in. They didn't have availability for wine tasting but we were able to buy bottles and picnic outside. The picnic area was nice! We had the entire park to ourselves so my dog was able to roam freely and it was so nice not having to worry about him. We ordered the last rosé bottle they had and whites and both were good. The service was friendly. It's definitely a hidden gem and we got so lucky finding this place. We had so much fun unfortunately we didn't get any pics but there's always next time!

Yelp
The wines were excellent. I highly recommend their wines and the resident wines. Specifically, Tarpon Cellars. We missed out on the Gewurztraminer, but was able to taste the fresh juice that was squeezed that morning that will be the future wine. Noria's chardonnay was wonderful! Our wine educator, Hiro, made the experience very personable and pleasureful. He provided a ton of knowledge around Silenus, wine country, and wine making in general. The property is beautiful and has plenty of different spots for different vibes. Highly recommend!

Robin S.

Yelp
Great service! Generous pours. Engaging and knowledgeable! Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
We lucked out for our tasting as there were no other groups while we were present, so we received lots of neat information about how Silenus operates. Definitely an affordable, personable wine tasting for our group of 4!
google avatar

Yelp
We came, we tasted, we joined! Beautiful Sunday in February, we were the only ones in the winery, sat outside for our tasting. Our host told us a lot about the wines and winemakers, and we loved learning more about the region and history of Napa. Didn't rush us, gave us some extra wines to taste and we truly enjoyed his company. It was really nice being the only ones there, a very different experience. This place has several winemakers, so it's nice to have a variety of wines in shipments, but you can also do just the Silenus wines. They have a gorgeous grotto for events, looking forward to those in the warmer days! Can't wait to bring friends here to taste some wines and picnic.
google avatar

Yelp
Hiro and Alissa were great hosts. Super knowledgeable and fun, wines are excellent. I really liked the cab franc and the khaos blend from their label, and they offer wines from other labels as well. Outdoor area of the tasting room is great if you have kiddos. Have visited each time I've been to Napa and I'll continue to return.

Lenore H.

Yelp
I always have a good experience at Silenus. The staff is friendly and helpful, the wines are varied and servers can answer any questions, for those who want to know more about the wines. On my most recent visit, following cold and rain, my group of 4 was seated on the sofas by the fire. We mixed up the menu and were offered tastes of an extra wine that was not listed. Silenus aims to give you a satisfying experience and that's what happens every time! If you can be in Napa in September, their harvest party is great fun, with food, multiple wine stations, and music.

Tony B.

Yelp
Nice outdoor setting that we had lunch at. Interesting wine comments during tasting. Fun with friends playing bocce.
google avatar

Rita B.

Yelp
Excellent service from Ken. Very personable, and historically literate man. He answered all of our questions with about the winery and wines in general and even about California history and gardening. The wines were pretty good with some being great. Tastings varied from $30-$40 as of August 2022. Bottles are $24-$65ish range depending on what your getting. This place was pet friendly, we brought a small dog and sat out on the patio.
google avatar

Maggie D.

Yelp
Last minute accommodation for 9 people - great wine selection & friendly staff. Quiet backyard vibe with bocce ball & corn hole for entertainment. Great for a more intimate feel but not if you're looking for more of a personable tasting with a tour or education about wines.

Bora_Bora_1 R.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! What we loved was how chill the atmosphere was! Bring your own food, play bocce ball, enjoy wines, and barely anyone present when we tasted. The wine guide, Ken, was charming as he was down to earth and knowledgeable. He's been in Napa for 30 years and knows the back stories (which we love) and the information about the wines we tasted. I enjoyed the Vitners Tasting and hubbie enjoyed the reserve tasting. What I liked about Vitners is they rotate the tasting menu every 2 weeks AND wines are just not Silenus but a collection of various vitners who grow their grapes here and then make their wines. My favs were Gentleman Farmer red wine from wine maker Jason Moore and Ideology Estate Rose. Yummy! What's even better is children are allowed, as well as, pets and if I didn't mention..bring your own picnic! This is rare! Thank you Silenus for a relaxing Saturday experience during Covid.

Tony G.

Yelp
Hiro did a great job explaining the orientation of the winery and their selection of tastings; extremely personable and very knowledgeable; nice selection of wines for the tasting

Claire P.

Yelp
As one of only 2 child friendly wineries in the local area we were extremely happy with our visit to Silenus. A particular bonus was that the tastings spanned several wine makers who use their facilities so we got to taste a wide variety of styles which is a great differentiator. Hero, our host was delightful, engaging and knowledgeable and welcomed the teenagers who predictably are only interested in the WiFi and air-con and both of which are readily available.
google avatar

Marianne K.

Yelp
So glad we stopped here! It was quieter than many other places we saw (Friday afternoon) which was nice and very convenient from the Vine Trail (close to the path and no uphill bike or walk to get there ). Great outdoor and indoor seating areas. Everyone working there was so pleasant and our host was so knowledgeable about the wines, making the tasting a fun experience. We were able to purchase a cheese and charcuterie tray along with our wine tastings. Would definitely return.
google avatar

Yelp
Sammy was such a great delight, she give us the best wine experience ever. After leaving Silenus Winery we felt like experts she answered all our newbie wine questions with such educational content that give us value.

Deimante B.

Yelp
Very disappointed with our visit. Our first time we arrive with my husband decided to do two separate tastings, one each. After the first glass of the tasting my stomach didn't feel right so I cancel my tasting and asked the server just to take one glass out from my husbands further tasting and he seemed to totally understand and not worry he will take care of it. After the tasting my husband decided to purchase 3 bottles of wine. At the end of the tasting we got the bill and they have charged us for 2 full tasting and 3 bottles.. note, the server said will remove one tasting since I didn't try anything and secondly, if you purchase bottles with certain price tags which we did they remove the tasting fee. Meaning we shouldn't have paid for any tasting and just those three bottles!! Completely got scammed and disrespected by staff, after pretending to be so nice and not worry about anything they "got us". Paid ridiculous money for not good time and ok service....

Larry R.

Yelp
This place was great! It was our first vis to the Napa Valley. Hiro was our host. He was extremely knowledgeable, very receptive to our questions, and very personable. it was a relaxed atmosphere and very inviting. Oh and the wine was fantastic! Highly recommend it.

Isabelle M.

Yelp
Alyssa is amazing! She was so helpful and made sure we had a fun time. Highly suggest wine tasting at Silenus!

Yelp
After two visits here, I can heartily recommend avoiding Silenius altogether if you're looking to taste fine wine. Between my wife and I we tasted a total of 4 different flights featuring various winemakers on our two visits. All wines on both tastings were barely drinkable and by no definition were they well-made. My tasting notes for all wines were a repeated the phrases "simple," "astringent," "minimal varietal character," and similar sentiments. Our opinion is based on 27+ years of critical wine tasting experience as well as sommelier training on my part. We know what factors comprise well-made varietals and blends, and they are absent here. The venue is very nice, the traffic noise from CA 29 is not, and the wines are entirely forgettable.

Yelp
It's no myth- Silenus Winery is a treasure hidden in plain sight. It's off Highway 29, on Solano Avenue. While the wines are named for myths, like the satyr Silenus, their wines are truly good. For real. The regular tasting is a reasonable price ($20), focused on their Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. One of their wines is named for Red Hen, a Mexican restaurant/cantina that was once closer. The hosts are very personable, and one might be fortunate enough to meet with the winemaker. Their Chardonnay has a pleasant buttery flavor, while their Cabernet Sauvignon is spicy. Over the years, they've added a bocce ball court&picnic area. It's a friendly, quiet, understated place. You get a beautiful view of the western Mayacamas range. Truly great.

Yelp
We chose this winery for a tasting almost at random, since so many nearby wineries had 4-5 star Yelp ratings. (Though the $25 per person fee was very reasonable) Turned out to be an excellent choice! The grounds were really beautiful, even for Napa. Our host, Hiro, was very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and very generous with his time. We tasted 6 very good wines, with generous pours, and we actually ended up buying 4 bottles that were pretty unique (thereby lowering the tasting fees even more). We were very impressed, which is saying something since we made this trip to the Napa wine country from our home in the Sonoma wine country, where visits like this are pretty routine and we're not easily impressed. This was a real find!

Yelp
Amazing visit with 4 of our dear friends! We had SO much fun and even walked back to our friends house through the vineyards! Loved your wine and the winery itself is beautiful!!!! Thank you for being SO wonderful even during Covid-19! You guys are awesome and we WILL be back!!!! Trish n Chris

Yelp
This winery was absolutely AMAZING! I've been to many wineries and this was the best wine tasting experience I've had! Hannah was the was the best tasting room manager ever! She was very clear and thorough in her explanation of both the winery AND the wines and was so helpful, pleasant and "round" during our tasting. I'd definitely recommend this place (when she comes back from maternity leave ).
google avatar

Maria D.

Yelp
Hiro is an amazing host! Stop in and say hello. The winery has an assortment of wines produced by a variety of local winemakers. Great fun! Great wines!
google avatar

Elisha K.

Yelp
Amazing staff! Beautiful place to sit and enjoy the views! We spent hours here one Sunday and enjoyed the great wine. The seating is spaced outside so no reason to worry about covid. I highly recommend!

Yelp
We called to see if we could drop by and the lady said yes. The lady who helped us was very nice. She gave us some information about each of the wine we tasted and answered our questions. Wines were good. I liked the white wines here. Cute outside seating overlooking a grassy looking picnic area. I'm not sure if you can picnic there or not.

Jessica P.

Yelp
This winery is a hidden gem. I had a friend visiting from Japan and specifically looked for a winery with a Japanese speaking person who could conduct the tasting. When we arrived we were greeted warmly and I was asked if we had extra time because the President who lived in Japan was at the winery and wanted to give us a personal tour of the vineyard and barrel room. Scott was EXCELLENT! He went above and beyond showing us around and explaining all about the terrain, blending, barrels, clones, I could go on and on,it was very interesting. And he even treated us with tastings directly from the barrels. Such a treat and so much more than I had expected. When we were done we sat by the indoor fireplace and Hiro gave us the scheduled tasting. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and made the experience a lot of fun. The wines were delicious and the whole vibe of the winery is welcoming and unpretentious. Definitely add this winery to your list.

Cessa P.

Yelp
We brought our 1 year old here because there are few places that's are genuinely kid friendly in Napa. Honestly, some of the best service and best wine we've had. We're locals, so we've done all the touristy stuff. But the ambiance and service were exceptional. Alyssa, was AWESOME. She was patient with us, as our one year old was a little fussy at times. But she had great pours and her information about the wine was fun, entertaining and educational. Will 10000000% be coming back with family. The only complaint I have is that there wasn't a baby changing station in either bathroom, but you can definitely make do with the counter space with a small baby!

Ali L.

Yelp
Excellent wines and a sommelier who who can also give a history lesson like no other. Thank you, Ken! I was visiting relatives in the area. We decided to visit Silenus due to the reasonable tasting fees. A great decision. Can't wait until next time!

John V.

Yelp
Great views and delicious wine! The tasting was informational and fun, and the winery itself was very beautiful - would highly recommend.
