Review of Silica Hotel, Iceland Silica Hotel, nestled in the heart of the Reykjanes Peninsula and just a short walk from the world-famous Blue Lagoon, offers an extraordinary blend of luxury, tranquility, and natural wonder. This serene retreat is perfect for travelers seeking a more intimate and exclusive Icelandic spa experience, with a level of comfort and service that truly sets it apart. The hotel’s design is sleek and minimalist, blending beautifully with the surrounding lava fields. Rooms are spacious, modern, and filled with natural light, offering stunning views of moss-covered volcanic landscapes. Every stay includes access to the hotel’s private, mineral-rich lagoon — a peaceful and secluded alternative to the often-crowded main Blue Lagoon. Floating in its warm, milky-blue waters is nothing short of magical. Service at Silica Hotel is exceptional. Staff are warm, professional, and always attentive to detail. The included breakfast is fresh, beautifully presented, and served in a calming lounge space that reflects the overall ambiance of the property. Guests also enjoy premium admission to the Blue Lagoon and a reserved time slot, ensuring a seamless, elevated experience. Silica Hotel is ideal for honeymooners, wellness seekers, and anyone wishing to unwind in luxury surrounded by Iceland’s raw, untouched beauty. It’s not just a hotel — it’s a sanctuary.

The staff are engaging and attentive. The rooms are immaculate and quiet. It is a great place to get away from it all and to be as private or not as you wish. We found it a brilliant end to our holiday in Iceland. The daily pass into the Blue Lagoon is definitely worth taking advantage of. It is a lot busier there, but there is a lot of room in the lagoon itself, and it is easy to find yourself a spot to suit you. The lagoon at the Silica is smaller and cosier. It is hotter, too (not that the other is cold!). With only 35 rooms, the Silica hotel nor its lagoon are ever overcrowded. The breakfast is delicious and is eaten in the hotel. All the other meals are served in the restaurants in the Blue Lagoon. If you haven't got a car to get around in, you will need to eat there. Check out the menus on their site.

“Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime must-stay hotel.” We were so blissfully soaking in the Blue Lagoon, sipping champagne while watching the sunset. At night, we opened the door to a view of Iceland’s unique moss landscape, and looked up to see a sky full of stars. It makes you feel— life is truly beautiful.

We stayed in room 9 for one night on our recent Iceland trip. Loved this hotel! Easy walking distance to the Blue Lagoon. We also loved their lagoon too. Essentially same thing but way less crowded. Breakfast spread was great. Bed was by far the most comfortable the whole trip. Pillows were actually decent too and that’s hard to find for hotels. Highly recommend!

I’ve really tried to find the positives about the Silica Hotel. The rooms are nicely designed, and the included breakfast was quite good. However, be aware that upon arrival, guests are required to sign a two-page waiver—something that should be disclosed at the time of booking, not at check-in. In my opinion, this hotel is best suited for those looking to spend long, leisurely days at the lagoon (8+ hours). If that’s not your plan—and realistically, it’s difficult to spend more than 3–4 hours in the water—you might be better off staying in Reykjavik and visiting the lagoon as a day trip. It offers a much better value that way.

Silica hotel has fine tuned the balance between simplicity & elegance. Rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable and the environment peaceful. On the way to the private lagoon, one of our travel companions was wearing slippers that were too small-housekeeping walked passed, noticed immediately and brought a larger pair. We were going to miss breakfast due to an early flight, and they gave us each premade meals before we left. Coffee, tea, sparkling water and sodas left in each room as well as welcome chocolates. We found the attention & care to be well worth it and would happily return.

I recently stayed at this incredible hotel, and I can’t recommend it enough! The hotel is directly connected to the Blue Lagoon, offering exclusive access to its own private lagoon for guests only, which was a real treat. The staff were exceptional—friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect during our stay. The hotel was impeccably clean, which added to the overall comfort. One of the perks of staying here was the premium access to the Blue Lagoon. We didn’t have to wait in line, which made the experience even more relaxing and enjoyable. The location, amenities, and overall service made this a truly memorable experience. We absolutely loved our stay and can’t wait to return!

Look, Iceland is EXPENSIVE, and you’re paying even more here for the location. I thought the hotel was clean, comfortable, and up to date. If you’re from the USA, it’s on par with a nice Marriott Courtyard. Personally, I preferred the lava view over the lagoon. Our complimentary mini bar contained two Pepsis and two waters. There is no AC, but as we were in the midst of a heat wave, reception gave us a fan. There is a kettle and Illy coffee maker, but no supplies with them (perhaps you have to ask for the tea and coffee?) Photo of the bedside electrical setup on each side is attached to this review. We were perfectly satisfied overall. If I were to return to the Blue Lagoon (I won’t), I would stay here again.
