A very mixed experience. We are locals but this was our first meal here with friends.
Atmosphere is fine, not amazing but certainly adequate. This is the nth incarnation of this space. Oddly, everyone was placed upstairs, which might have been managing guest vs staff numbers. When we first arrived (we were early) we asked three times for the music to be turned down. It was, eventually, a little.
Food generally was very good to excellent. The only oddity was my peri-peri chicken which was bright yellow and not at all spicy, though pleasant enough. My wife's crudo and scallops were excellent. If you're a bigger eater you should probably order a side or two as portions are not large and lack accompaniment.
Where things went sadly wrong was the service. As mentioned our request to turn down the sound was ignored. I use that word intentionally. The servers looked like someone had killed their dog. Terribly gloomy and no smile or warmth to be detected. After we finished our mains our server asked if we would like to order dessert. We said yes please, in a few minutes. She left one menu between 5 and proceeded to ignore us (please believe it was deliberate - she fiddled with menus and all sorts of delaying tactics) for the next 20+ minutes. When she eventually returned we asked for the bill and told her we did not appreciate being ignored and simply wanted to leave.
I hate giving out bad reviews but my last couple of meals have warranted them.
