"Founded in 2010 by an ambitious Uyghur entrepreneur named Sirajidin Kerim, Silk Road Tarim Uyghur Restaurant is one of the only places in Tokyo serving traditional dishes from Xinjiang. This region in northwestern China has its own distinct cuisine heavily influenced by its position along the old Silk Road. Cumin, dried chiles, and other spices feature prominently in many staples, which tend to eschew pork in favor of chicken, beef, or lamb, in keeping with halal. Order the hand-pulled noodles, gosh manta (lamb buns), and the perpetually popular “big tray chicken,” a hearty specialty with bone-in chicken and chunks of potatoes swimming in puddles of flavorful chile oil. Know Before You Go The restaurant is located in Nishi-Shinjuku, more or less 15 minutes by walk from Shinjuku Station if you exit from one of its South Exits. Easily the best halal food ive had in japan after 1 year living and fine dining. Only place you'll find sugar with tomato, salt with tea and it actually taste amazing. Go here hungry as a hippo, like make sure to be weakened by hunger before going to really feel how well this food will nourish you. I ate allll of this and felt great. The rose and fruit tea was a bit shocking at first but the sugar made it great and i loved it. Absolute shout to the cooks for delivery banger after banger. And our waiter Amin-jon from Uzbekistan was helpful at all times, maybe a little serious but he did he job well and properly, giving recommendations and experiences. Also affordable prices for halal food in tokyo, trust me. So yeah. This was the absolute best food and experience Ive had so far and will bring others here for the rest of my time in tokyo.

Edit: It’s okay. VERY expensive for the size portion. I had ordered the large sized noodles to go and paid 1,600 for it. I did not place the order through Uber. I walked in, placed an order, and paid money directly to the restaurant. The container was so small, that I had to go back and confirm they knew I ordered a large. You can see the already small container is barely above half too. I had gone to a different Uyghur restaurant nearby and paid 1,350 for a portion double the size of this one. If you don’t mind the hefty price tag, it tastes fine. Nothing crazy (I’ve had a lot of Uyghur food).

All the dishes were in general good/delicious but this is my first time having Uyghur meal. We arrived at 12:09am at 12:53pm (an hour after—all our orders arrive at 1:10pm) we are still waiting for almost all our other orders. They mentioned pilaf will take time but all other orders took time. I guess this is good that they are really cooking only after ordering but it also takes so much of our time. The prices are not cheap here. You would think you’ll save more by ordering the courses but you’ll be better off ordering what you want but it’s really expensive I think. More expensive than even typical Japanese restaurants. The whole place smells of food, you will be smelling like Uyghur food because their kitchen doesn’t have proper air ventilation. The noodles seem to be homemade here so that is good. The thickness of the noodles differs so the taste also depends. The thicker noodles are still quite hard to bite.

Small don't even exist) •1h to get served •expansive •tricky website. You can order 1 unit but the minimum is 2, so you think you'll pay 390 but the minimum is 780, why not replacing it by "set of Two-780" if the 1 unit is not even possible ?

Easy to find. Since we didn't make a reservation we got seated at the counter. I believe I had fried noodles (I was pretty tired so I immediately forgot what I ordered) and it was great. Also had chicken skewers which were just as great. It's a Uyghur restaurant so you can expect great food and halal meats.

First time trying Uyghur food. Not too bad. Hand pull noodles are definitely the highlight. We ordered lamb’s tongue salad and lamb pastry as starters. They were great. I had never realised that lamb tongue could be so yummy. We then ordered a daipanji (big plate chicken) and a lamb pilaf for main. I heard a lot of microwave ‘ding’ sound going on and felt a bit disappointed. The chicken in the daipanji dish was not fresh. It was rather dry. Half a dish was just bell peppers. The lamb pilaf was not piping hot either. The meat, again, was dry. The portion size wasn’t really generous so we ordered a leghman (hand pull noodles in spicy sauce). It was the best main dish but, again, the meat was not fresh and a bit dry. Everything was flavourful but I felt quite thirsty after half an hour. Not sure if I would visit for the second time. The meal was about 5,000 for 2 people.
