This hotel is magical! I got to immerse in nature while being properly pampered. The food is gorgeous, the service is impeccable, and the spa is absolutely top notch! What I love most is the staff. Caring, warm, and professional. I only spent two days here but I know it will become a big part of my memory for this year. It’s so worth it and I can’t recommend it enough!

This hotel is worth five stars. The experience itself, with the beautiful scenery and waterfall nearby, with nature all around you. Some rooms have glamorous gorgeous views of the waterfall rivers; but the best part is the cleanness, and attitude all around you. The hot springs, the outdoor pool that overlooks the mountains.

Very friendly staff, they let me use the hotel washroom (even though it was closed for renovation) and also sold me some energy drinks. I came up to Taroko hoping to ride the mountains. Little did I expect the whole village is closed, including the 7-11! I was so grateful to find people working at this hotel. They let me use their facilities and topped up my water. I would not have survived the ride had it not been for their generosity. Thank you guys for making my day!

I really love this hotel because of its location. It is a very very big hotel with many decorations and traditional food. When you walk in the hotel, you will be greeted with many tasteful dried fruits. You will then walk through a pathway with stones an water running below to your hotel room. In the hotel room, it is double floored with the main essentials like bed, kitchen, sofa etc. at first floor. There is a very long sofa for you to lie on and an outdoor bench for you to sit. When you walk downstairs to the basement, there is a twenty-four hour running hot spring for you to enjoy along with a beautiful mountain scene for you to relax. Hold up, have I mentioned about a bar? There is a night bar at the roof where you can enjoy many many different exotic drinks such as the margarita or the virgin variation; but the best part is the stars and the New Year (That's why and when I went there). Oh, right, a pool; the pool is very very huge, including sauna, a jacuzzi, and people also project movies onto the sky and enjoy the pool at the same time. Overall, the breakfast choices are really great with diverse of traditional, Eastern and Western cuisine; the services are awesome. The best part I enjoyed in this hotel is the twenty-four hour running hot spring. However, the hotel is expected to be very pricy, coming up with 10, 000 NTD per night, or about 300 USD. Yet, I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are visiting Taiwan as a foreigner, this is a MUST.

Google
Great hotel in an amazing setting. The staff were very helpful in advance of our stay, helping us to sort out taxis to and from the train station. They also helped us to get the hotel shuttle bus to the trails we wanted to do which was particularly helpful for when we had to arrive at the zhuilu old trail by 10am. Buffet was really good! It’s helpful to book the dinner slot you want as sometimes it can get busy. The pool and jacuzzi and tennis setting was incredible! We were also able to use the sauna for free as we stayed for 3 nights which was nice. Loved the cute notes from housekeeping every day :) The only thing we had difficulty with was trying to catch the shuttle bus back when we were done with the hikes but this wasn’t an issue as the public bus is really good and all the times are on google maps.

This hotel is absolutely the best in every way. It's deep in Taroko Gorge National Park. So you are just surrounded by nature. Everything about this place is perfect. From the rooms to the food, I felt all very luxurious. Unfortunately I was there during the earthquake and was trapped there for a few days. I just wanted to give a shout out to the amazing staff members who worked tirelessly the whole time to keep everyone happy and safe. You'll be in good hands if you stay here!

Google
My favorite hotel in Taiwan. There’s nothing better than swimming or hot tubbing in the middle of a mountain. The views are unbeatable, the whole hotel smells good and the service is impeccable. Very good amenities and things to do in the hotel as well. My only wish would be to have a sauna that didn’t require a reservation, I didn’t want to rent one for 90 minutes, just wanted to use one for a few minutes after my workout. Oh and the robes could be comfier. Other than that I wouldn’t change a thing

Probably the best hotel experience we have ever had. The location and views were mind-blowing - sitting in a jacuzzi surrounded by cliffs and trees was remarkable. However, this was just one small part of it. We got a shuttle transfer from Hualien station, and along the one-hour journey our driver kept us entertained by pointing out different points of interest. When we got to the hotel, we were taken on the half-day afternoon tour. To our absolute delight, there were no other people booked in so we got an amazing and in-depth private tour from Vita and 趙司機先生. Vita's explanations of the sites, her attention to the details in pointing out the surrounding plants, natural formations, and storytelling, were captivating. Vita knew all the fun photo opportunities at every point, so we also got a dedicated photographer. 趙先生 provided us with generous and delicious refreshments, which hit the spot just right. Then it was the experience of the hotel. From the thoughtfulness and immense comfort of our room and all its amenities, to the buffet dinner and breakfast, and the friendly and warm service of all the staff - all formed memories that will stay with us for a very long time.

Yelp
Super peaceful and restorative hotel in Taroko National Park. The view in our room was absolutely stunning - we were right next to the gorge. The highlights: 1. The outdoor pool on the rooftop with some hot tubs. My one suggestion would be to up the temperature of the actual pool (which was absolutely freezing) while turning down the temp slightly of one of the hot tubs (which was registering as 42 degrees Celsius, which is about 107 degrees F). As it were, I kept sprinting back and forth between the hot tub and the pool. 2. The amazing yoga room on the top floor. Massive, flooded with light, lots of yoga mats. Basically a yoga influencer's wet dream. I went in there and did a morning stretch and I seriously would give my firstborn to be able to do that every day. A few nits: 1. The bathroom, particularly the area by the toilet, looked like it could use some remodeling from water damage. 2. The Wellesley buffet was just all right in terms of both taste and selection. I mostly stocked up on the fruit and desserts, and, as with most buffets, generally lost track of what I was eating. There's a noodle bar, carving station, ice cream, and raw seafood section. Service lagged at times - we accumulated this giant stack of dirty dishes on our table with no one to clear it. They were also trying to prepare for another round of diners at 7pm (our designated slot was 5:20-7) and I could definitely feel pressure to leave building as we got closer to the time. Otherwise, really beautiful spot; the room was top-notch (with all the amenities, including tons of toothbrushes and toothpaste, free drinks/bottled water and snacks).

Yelp
This was hands down the best hotel experience I have ever had in my lifetime. Located at the heart of Taroko Gorge in Hualien, I came here for my honeymoon with my wife for three days and two nights as part of a package, and we were blown away. This was the best service I have ever received and this establishment has strong hotel fundamentals that are highlighted by all the little details, found in the service, decorations, food, and many other items. Our package included a shuttle to and from Hualien Station, which takes about one hour each way. When we arrived at the hotel, we were warmly greeted and then brought to the Retreat Lounge (part of our package), to check-in, where we were served hot ginger tea and the receptionist walked through the amenities available to us, as well as our scheduled activities the next few days. Our luggage was delivered from the shuttle to our room (the Garden View Suite). The room was even better than what I had seen online; it was beautiful, spacious, and we were greeted with a nice card, balloons, and a small cake to celebrate our honeymoon. The hotel provides housekeeping twice a day, once in the morning, and once at night where they also delivered a special hotel dessert or meal (mung bean cakes and truffle congee). The staff did a great job, one of the things that stood out to me most was they helped wrap our charging cables with the little bands, a nice touch that was very helpful for us. The minibar was restocked twice for us and they also provided local snacks (sweet potato chips, dried fish snacks, etc.) for us. Within the hotel, there are two restaurants and a Retreat Lounge (if your package gives you access). The two restaurants are the Wellesley Buffet and Mei Yuan Chinese Restaurant. We had both our breakfasts and one dinner at the buffet, one lunch and dinner at Mei Yuan. Presentation-wise, the food looked amazing. The wait staff were attentive and very helpful with recommendations and attending to any of our needs. At Mei Yuan, our hot pot set dinner was good, but not great. Vegetables were fresh and amazing, but some of the cold and hot courses were average, and then meat quality was also pretty average. On the other hand, the lunch sets were some of the best meals my wife and I had in Taiwan. We ordered a stir-fried three cup chicken and beef noodle soup, both were bursting with flavor and definitely the culinary highlights of our stay here. The Wellesley Buffet provided a good mix of Taiwanese, Chinese, American, and other international cuisines food. I can't say that everything was the best I have ever had, but it is a buffet and this is some of the best buffet food I've had. There were so many options, pastries, congee bar, salad bar, hot food bar with Taiwanese dishes, meat carving station, ice cream bar, so many beautifully decorated desserts. There is something here for everyone, and we always left stuffed and satisfied. The Retreat Lounge provides access to soft drinks, tea and coffee, as well as a complimentary afternoon tea and happy hour (unlimited alcohol) from 1-6pm everyday. The food here was great, little sandwiches, desserts, crackers and cheese, etc. The ambiance was very nice and relaxing, and the teas that we ordered were high quality and aromatic. We came here multiple times to rest and just decompress from the various activities we participated in. There is a plethora of activities available: indoor heated pool, fitness room, yoga room, outdoor infinite pool with an amazing view, outdoor jacuzzi, as well as a nightly concert by Aboriginal musicians and movie night at the pool. There is a recreation room with ping pong, Nintendo Switch, PS5, pool tables, board games, and a whole kid's play area that was well-designed and looked very fun. The hotel also offers self-service 24H laundry at 50 NTD each to wash and dry. There is a sauna that is reservable for a small fee as well. We participated in the afternoon hiking tour, which brought us to three different areas where our tour guide explained to us the history of Taroko Gorge and the specific sites. Our tour guide, Mina, was very energetic, cheerful, knowledgeable, and even better knew how to get the best photo shots in the park. We were given reusable water bottles, hard hats for a specific part of the tour, and many memorable photos and experiences for a lifetime. We came at Christmastime and the hotel was beautifully decorated. The little details stood out to me, all the staff were festive and wearing something holiday-related, and the lobby itself was beautiful with multiple Christmas trees and many beautiful lights. The restaurants and Retreat Lounge were beautifully decorated and elevated the experience for my wife and me. Most importantly, the hotel staff were amazing. We were thoroughly impressed throughout our stay here; they were professional, accommodating, and always had a cheerful and joyful attitude. I hope to come back soon because this was unforgettable.

Yelp
Lovely place. Very peaceful and tranquil. Somewhat stressful getting there. Locally, there is of course a convenient store within walking distance from the hotel. It can be a tad bit confusing at times. When you enter the building, you are on the 3rd floor. There are rooms above and below you. Dining was on the lower level. There are tennis courts on the rooftop along with a pool and lounge area. This place actually had a somewhat decent gym. Most of the views of the gorge show the river that runs there the back of the hotel. When we were there, we were fortunate to see the Macaque monkeys cross the river along a cable. I'll have to post the photo or video. Definitely, will have to comeback next time.

Yelp
One of the best 5 star hotels I've stayed at ever. While the room was minimalist, the amenities were great. Delicious snacks, a huge on-site gym and separate yoga room, a rooftop pool with multiple hot tubs, an indoor pool, a big playroom for kids, a DIY craft room, self service laundry, saunas, spa/massage and two restaurants. There's even conference rooms for business. What really sold me was the free meals included as well as the tour shuttles around famous Taroko Gorge landmarks. They're also English friendly and located in a small recreational area that had a 7-11 and some cafes. For about $300/night, I got better value and service than many other expensive 5 star hotels. They even have their own gift shop. If you have the budget, I strongly recommend the splurge. It's also nice to eat some healthier meals rather than street and convenience store food.

Sann N.

Yelp
Through the hotel package, they will pick up and drop off at Hualien station which takes about an hour ride- one way. All the hotel staff are very courteous and helpful. There are two restaurants (Wellesley buffet and Mei Yuan Chinese cuisine) in the hotel and they both offer really good food (including the native's food). There are daily activities, live music, and outdoor movie on the rooftop every day in the hotel just to keep the guests entertained. There is a swimming pool and hot tubs on the roof top (which is fantastic), and indoor swimming pools and fitness centers. There is an option to rent a bimmer prior to (not at the site) booking the hotel. The hotel can call you a cab from Hualien and that along with hiking are pretty much the transportation options. It's quite pricy overall but it's a great place to enjoy and immerse in the great Toroko park.

Yelp
Vegan reviewer here! My boyfriend and I stayed at Silks Place overnight to experience the park and check out this highly rated hotel. The outside of the hotel building isn't as pretty as I expected it to be however upon entering we were greeted by the friendly staff and given smoked plum juice while we waited in line to check in. The room decor didn't really wow me but they did have little things that I enjoyed about the room such as snacks and drinks in the room all being complementary, having a brand new pair of slippers for us to wear, the spacious shower and bath tub which came with epsom salt and basic toiletries like toothbrushes, floss, cotton pads etc. There are multiple levels to this hotel which consist of the amenities. I recommend going to the rooftop at night to soak in the hot tub! Their breakfast was AMAZING and most foods had labels for vegetarian and ovo-lacto vegetarian. There was plenty of fresh fruit, a salad bar, hot foods and a bread bar. The staff was incredibly friendly the entire time and even helped us book tickets to our next destination. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is the decor not being what I expected in comparison to the photos that I saw online and the staff being a little strict about not being able to enter certain rooms (like the breakfast or the free concert) less than five minutes before opening. Otherwise my stay was pleasant and I would recommend them!

Yelp
When I traveled to TPE two years ago, I considered going to Taroko Gorge, but decided not to due to the rain at the time. Fast forward to last month, I finally made my way to Hualien County and got to share this wonderful experience with my significant other. He booked us the Garden View room at Silks Place and I'm forever grateful because staying here was extremely convenient for many reasons including: - Convenient stop right our front, where both buses came by every 30-50 minutes. So glad we didn't do a car rental because the Taroko bus is very convenient (302 is often empty and frequently circulating) and didn't have to worry about driving! - Free daily breakfast buffet with an extensive spread, so we often skipped lunch and had the rest of our day to explore - Small cafes across the parking lot from this hotel a quick dinner after the sun sets - Convenience store literally across the street from the parking lot - Affordable and quick shuttle available to and from Hualien station, easily reservable in advance - Walking distance to the Baiyang Waterfall Trail and a few other popular spots Rooms were extremely spacious and the walls were thick, so we slept soundly both nights. The bathroom was very spacious and the tub was great for a nice warm bath after a long day outdoors. We would definitely stay here again if we ever come back to Taroko National Park to trek Zhuilu Old Trail. Although staying here costs a premium compared to staying in Hualien (further with lots of bus stops), everything worked out and we were able to see a lot of things at Taroko in 2 days due to the prime location of this hotel inside the park.

Yelp
Hidden oasis in the middle of the Toroko gorge national park. Access by car can be difficult as the spectacular but narrow and winding roads are subject to closures, landslides, and traffic jams during the high season. The food is expensive (understandable given how difficult it is to transport in/out) but somewhat disappointing (bland) given the quality of the rest of the hotel.

Yelp
This review is strictly for their restaurant. We came here to eat during our say trip to thr Taroko marble gorge. Lunch was already included in the price of the trip so we didnt habe to pay anything which is always a plus. We had a salad to begin oir meal which wasent bad. The vinagrette dressing was good and acidic, anf the vegetables provided a nice crunch. Then the main dish came which was a beef type dish with carrots and potato in sauce. The dish required more flavoring... more salt wouldve been nice. It was served with a side of white rice and soup. In the soup they had 2 small pieces of protein that was just hard to breakdown and chew. They alsi served 3 small side dishes. They were all good, giving the bland dish different levels of flavor. For desert eas a plate of fruit.... expected more. But they served cut up sugar apples and other fruits. Overall service was fast at least for me. One person at oue table of 6 didnt get her main dish until i was close to finishing mines which is just bad timing. 4 stars since i sisnt have to pay for the food. Mightve been 3 if they charged me for it. From what i saw, the hotel lobby and walkways swwmed clean and well taken care of.

Yelp
It was an excellent hotel. There service was great. When arriving, we were greeted by the staff with cup of refreshing tea. There was an upper deck pool that had a great view the natural surrounding. There is also a indoor pool in the lower levels. We came with tons of kids, so they enjoyed the indoor pool adjacent to the recreational center. There were climbing structures; they had dress up for the much younger kiddos. There were also Wii-U like video games on a projection TV. For the adults, the upper deck pool had a peaceful and tranquil setting with very few people. If you need to meditate, there is a yoga and workout room in the very top floor people overlooking the upper deck pool. The rooms were very clean and had private spa baths that were plumbed with natural hot spring thermo water to soak in. Cation: *****THE WATER WAS EXTREMELY HOT***** Enjoyed the soak very much. Very relaxing and peaceful. :-). Do highly recommend this place.

Yelp
You ever want like a 5 star hotel experience but also be one with nature at the same time? I know, it sounds contradictory. We associate 5 star hotels with nightlife and big cities. We associate being one with nature as being out in the boonies or being isolated from society. But I kid you not, this is precisely the hotel where you get the 5 star treatment but right out on your balcony you are one with nature. Hidden in the heart of Taroko National Park, this truly is a fantastic hotel. The rooms are extremely posh, with super spacious quarters and bathrooms, extremely comfortable beds, and the cherry on top; personal hot tubs in the bathroom. Not only is the hot tub water tapped straight from a natural hot spring, the hotel also includes a bowl of natural sea salt to help enhance your hot tub experience. You may be asking: "I see the 5 star, what about the nature?" Well, open your sliding door and step on to the balcony and voilà, you are hit by the immense beauty of Taroko National Park. You have a river rushing right by the edge of the hotel property, there are mountains all around, and early in the morning, you can see wild monkeys roaming close to the hotel. Still not convinced? I say you give it a try and see for yourself :)

Yelp
silks place taroko was our last resort on our circle island road trip around taiwan and... we were extremely disappointed. being the last stop, there were already 4 resorts that set a pretty darn high bar for our expecations. with that said, besides the location (located right in the heart of beautiful taroko national park) and the outdoor amenities (rooftop spa, pool, fire pit, tennis court), the hotel was extremely dated and fell below expectations for cleanliness. upon entering the room we felt like our room reeked urine. i kid you not, it was a stench we just kept getting worse and worse even after we left all our windows opened. we called the front desk to report our concern and offered to switch our room and the room option we had smelled exactly the same. i get it, the climate is humid to the point that each guest room is equipped with its own dehumidifyer... but seriously, there is some serious issue with housekeeping and cleanliness of the hotel. even the restaurant smelled funny. really maade us question the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the hotel. we've been to 4 other hotels prior and non had repulsing stench... the carpeting in the hotel came with multiple stains, and the finishing of the hotel are extemely dated, aged, and just showed serious signs of wear and tear. thank goodness we were able to spend a good amount of time at the outdoors pool and spa, or else we would've had to spend more time in our miserable smelling room... and for the price per night ($311), we thought that the dinner would've at least been included, but nope! we had to pay $28/person for the dinner buffet that didn't have much to offer. sadness, was totally looking forward to silks place, but once is enough.

Yelp
This has got to be the best hotel in Taiwan. We forgot our SD card for our camera and they not only bought one for us before our half day tour, the driver was going to arrive after our tour had left. In the end, they stopped on the one way road and passed it between drivers so we could take pictures. They have the best staff Food Massage therapists Rooms WiFi Yours Happy hour Etc....etc .... etc All in all, i don't post much but felt I had to for this. I would live here if I could.

Yelp
This place is A-M-AZ-I-N-G. If you are visiting the national park you just got to take the opportunity to stay at Silks Place Taroko. Imagine yourself living in the midst of the valley, surrounded by mountains. A river is running by the hotel and you can hear the water hitting the mountain rocks as it is flowing through the valley. You can hear the birds chirping in the trees and you can watch the sun set as you sit in one of three outdoor jacuzzis or the big pool with a drink in your hand and just try to fathom it all. After a long day of hiking it is for sure the most relaxing way to spend your evening. I was afraid the restaurant would be bad since the options are scars this for into the national park. But boy was I wrong. The food was delicious and not at all expensive. The waitresses were nice as well and helped us explain the various dishes which we did not understand what it was. The room was clean and simple, the bathroom was a bit outdated. It's really not really the sole reason why you would pick this hotel. You can choose if you'd like a room towards the inner garden or the mountainside. The mountainside rooms are a little more pricey but I am not sure how much you actually see of it when the sun goes down (sun goes down at 5pm).

Yelp
This was a wonderful place for our honeymoon. Dinner and breakfast was included in our package. They introduced usa Rio our amenities and showered us how to use things in the room. The hot tubs were fabulous as well as the rooftop infinity pool. There is a small wading pill for children. I can't wait to go again...though it is product so it will be a while.

Yelp
Top notch resort in Taroko! The view from the resort is spectacular and the service impeccable. The food is amazingly delicate and delicious! An absolutely must visit for your romantic getaway!

Yelp
One word to describe...bizarre...a communist resort where at times we felt like prisoners with guest privileges. The packaging is alluring, resort getaway with the backdrop of a magnificent gorge. Giving this hotel a flatout 2star rating is a bit unfair, so here is a breakdown on highs and lows. Scenery and ambiance: 4 stars. The resort setting and appearance is impressive. Here is were expectations took a dive. My daughter and I arrived at Silks after an afternoon of travel from Taipei. She was a little hungry. No in room service menu. We went to the rooftop pool...order some food and beverage and just relax by the pool. So sorry...no food by the pool allowed. No poolside guest services...please go place your order in the lounge. I go to the lounge...so sorry...lounge is for third floor guests only...please go to first floor restaurants. With the phrase "WTF" in mind, I proceed to one of two restaurants to place an order. Although food was prepared and delivered...I learned it was extremely inconvenient as it was outside of normal feeding time slots. Dinner at the second restaurant was also weird. We were given a set menu...when I asked if I could also look at the main menu...the reaction was unexpected. Asking to deviate from the set menu was a very difficult concept to understand...and had I not persisted...the answer would have been so sorry. At breakfast, I asked for a to-go cup for coffee. I was told so sorry...for consumption of coffee at breakfast was only authorized in the restaurant. If I desired coffee outside of the restaurant, I would need to purchase it. By now my brain is having extreme difficulty processing why seemingly benign asks are incredulous requests. Last data point of super weirdness is when my daughter was asked to sit up straight while we were in the lobby waiting for the departure shuttle.

Yelp
We stayed here for one night during our Taiwan honeymoon, and it was unbelievably amazing! It is located in the middle of Taroko and is truly an oasis. They provided a bottle of wine for us for our honeymoon, as well as very cute Mr and Mrs pillows. Included amenities of our honeymoon suite on the retreat floor booked via hotels.com included wine/snacks for afternoon tea, semi-infinity pool overlooking the park, multiple jacuzzis, free mini bar, wifi, multiple in room snacks, super comfortable bed, discount on the amazing spa, and the best service from all the staff. The breakfast buffet which was included in our booking was really nice and high quality, including a full congee bar, omelette station (with perfectly tender eggs!), fruit, pastry assortment, and more. The only things that could be improved would perhaps be slightly faster service in the restaurant and better views from the room, but honestly, this was such a relaxing and fun experience; would recommend to anyone wanting to spend some extra time in Taroko!
