Rustic bakery with fresh patisseries being topped up behind the counter. We liked that there were options for a quick bite as well as if you had more time for something substantial. The croissants are sadly unremarkable, the tarts are alright. Purchased a baguette take away, it’s super long! Danishes looked tantalising and I’d be happy to give them a go next time.

Very lovely people. It seems like a great bakery but I think I made a mistake and ordered something else for breakfast. The mushroom and toastie tasted good but was too oily. I would definitely try them again and this time go for the bread and pastry.

I love Silo 🥰 It has been a purveyor of high quality food, wine and coffee for the 20 years I have lived in the region. While so many cafes tend to decline in quality over time, this one absolutely has not. The staff are so lovely and accommodating. And the orange pistachio snails are exquisitely good 😋🍊

Lovely bakery, food was good, coffee excellent, and friendly (albeit overly busy) service. Poached eggs were slightly over-done, and long wait time due to staff being run off their feet, good but for the price you should expect better. Really needs a bigger venue to serve the numbers they attract. Tarts are exceptional.

Enjoyed a wonderful coffee and delicious lemon tart at the very popular Silo Bakery in Kingston. Friendly staff, relaxing environment, and the perfect place to unwind after a busy work week. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself, friends and family to this very special social meeting place .

Surprisingly great little bakery. The pastries were really good, and the tarts looked amazing.

Good little bakery in a small town. FOOD: They don't really offer gluten free options aside from toast and a biscuit, both of which were terrible. Similar to gf things when they first came out, a decade+ ago. Definitely the worst gluten free food I've had in many years. Otherwise they do have a broad selection of sweets in the front counter: many of which do look really nice. Some of our dishes were hit and miss in flavour. STAFF: Lovely and attentive, especially given how cramped the place is. You constantly hear them trying to get through the tables and chairs and people at the front. DECOR: Simple, clean, modern lines, lacking character overall, which isn't necessarily bad. Only suitable for individuals up to 4 people mostly though. Not really suitable for kids or those in wheelchairs during busy times. They have blankets which is a super nice touch. The back hallway has had chairs put in to try and accommodate more people. It's squishy and looks like a hallway. OVERALL: With street parking out the front, and warm inviting staff, it looks like they're trying, so overall still a solid: good. Definitely a lovely little place to take a friend to for a pastry or take away sweet. I suspect this (versus the meals) is where they shine and would be 5/5.

Quite a busy bakery as it was a day prior to the Easter holidays. Picked up some hot cross buns which were yummy, lemon meringue tart was nice but bit on the sweeter side & the crust was a bit soggy to our liking Silo Sourdough was nice & coffee was strong. Service by the young gentleman was very friendly & down to earth. Could use some brighter lighting indoors as it was hard to check out what was on display.

Yelp
The French toast here is fabulous! I also liked the croissants, but I can't say enough good stuff about the delicious French toast! One of the best breakfasts in Canberra!

Yelp
Visit Silo Bakery and Cafe for some of the best breads and pastries around. Located about ten mins drive from Canberra CBD in the trendy little area of Kingston, it's worth the trip. Their Artisan bread and pastries are made in store and are pretty popular, so be sure to get there early. It's a small spot with minimal decor and only a few tables to eat at, so it's best to grab what you want as takeaway. Do you prefer their silo sourdough, rye sourdough volkornbrot, kingston, white sourdough, stirato crusty italian bread, french style white baguette, ciabattini small italian style square rolls or french style roll? So many to pick from. I buy a loaf of the walnut and cranberry for later, can't wait to eat it! Maybe you're a croissant fan - plain croissants, almond croissants, butter brioche, pain au chocolate, Orange & Pistachio Snail, Custard & Raisin or our pick of the day, the "Evie" - apple, almond & raisin in croissant pastry. Crispy and super tasty. They also have a rhubarb galettes and pear galettes From the savoury options there's quiche, pies and sausage rolls and boreks as well as sandwiches. You can even eat in at their cafe with omelettes, eggs, French toast or muesli and a coffee.

Yelp
Average. Benefits greatly from the "if anything's slightly good in Canberra, let's overate it". To put it in perspective: It's a below average cafe for Melbourne that you'd probably think was okay, but pretty soon you'd realise "oh, that place has closed"... and then you'd move on and never ever miss it. Baked goods are good, cooked food is bland. Appeals to the crowd in Canberra that think they're upper class and who equate indifferent service and attitude with 'fancy'. Only open Tues-Sat.... mind-boggling. It won't be your fave Sunday spot because it can't be. It's OKAY. You can throw a rock and hit five other cafes where you'd be happy.

Yelp
Silo Bakery is one of the best places you could hope to eat in Canberra. The baked goods, including breads and all sorts of pleasing tarts, are spectacular. In addition there is a great menu of offerings for breakfast and lunch. Importantly, for me at least, the excellent food is complemented by excellent coffee. I would venture to say the best coffee in Canberra (I could/should qualify this by saying the best coffee I have had since rolling back into town a few weeks ago so I need to do more research). If it is not the best it is certainly up there. They also have a great cheese room stocked with all sorts of delicious offerings. I didn't try the cheese this visit but I had a Pork and Fennel Lasagna which was fabulous. Positive sounds were coming from my dinning buddies in response to their pizza and cheese plate respectively. Ok so there are a few negatives (perfection is rare). It is noisy when busy- but that is often the way in Canberra, I don't know why. Crappy buildings to work with perhaps - who knows. It can take a little work to get a table and it would be tricky if you are a big group unless you wanted to sit outside. In our case the staff were great to us making sure we could move from stools to our own table when it became available. The service was ok - better than I remembered - I hadn't been there for a few years. I wouldn't say attentive because sometimes you had to spend some time attracting someones attention, but once you had the service was helpful and polite.

Yelp
Great upmarket environment, fancy food, but not the place where you would go every day for lunch. Menu is also hard to read, with English apparently being the second language.
