We were very satisfied with our two stays at Silver Cloud Broadway (one for three nights, the second for a single night) during a recent six-day visit to the Pacific Northwest. Overall rating: 4.6/5.||The accommodations, if not distinctive or especially luxurious, were comfortable and served our purposes well. Our deluxe king room was spacious, with ample room for storage and ample electrical outlets. The beds were conducive to a good night’s sleep, as was the quiet room. Our rooms faced Madison St., which is likely quieter than Broadway, which features trolleys that clang twice, rather than the three times immortalized in song. The lack of a task chair in the room (there a small round table that could be used for dining or work, rather than a desk) was curious. And my spouse did not find any of the available seating offered good back support.||The staff was efficient, businesslike, and responsive to questions and requests. The hotel offers self-parking (with a price one would expect from a center-city location) in a tight garage.||The main virtue of this hotel, in our view, was its location. In prior visits to Seattle, we either stayed some distance from the center of town or in touristy areas. This property is in the Capitol Hill/First Hill area, an actual neighborhood with few other hotels. There are numerous good independent restaurants and coffeehouses (as well as the tourist-trap “roastery” operated by the locally-baed multinational behemoth) within easy walking distance. Downtown tourist attractions are also proximate for the dedicated walker; walking to the city center takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The return walk, which entails going uphill at often steep grades, is considerably more arduous. As we live in a area proximate to a large city center, we are well aware of both the advantages (seeing dogs being walked and diverse residents) and disadvantages (visible homelessness) of such neighborhoods
