This should probably be one of the first places you visit if you're in the area. The park has a 5-ish mile loop-trail that takes you past 10 waterfalls. There are shorter trails as well.
I've gone around both ways and in my experience, starting at the south end is better. You're immediately greeted with one of, if not the best, falls in the park.
Parking at the south end is great. It's very crowded at this entrance at times, but the crowd thins out as you get further down the trail.
The trail markers are in rough shape on the loop trail so have some idea of where you're going. It's not very physically strenuous, however, so it makes for a low-stress day adventure.
You can walk behind the bigger falls. Just be aware that at times, there can be standing water so either have really good balance and hop from stone to stone, or wear rubber boots to just wade through it. It's never very deep, just very cold.
In the winter, the stairways can be VERY slick. They are covered in a sheet of ice so tread extraordinarily carefully.
