The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance of the beach, shops and market, making it a good choice. The hotel staff are polite and helpful, and the shared bathrooms and toilets are relatively clean compared to other hotels, but more attention needs to be paid to cleanliness in the kitchen area. Furthermore, the number of cupboards in the kitchen is definitely not sufficient for the remaining guests. I am confident that small updates in this area would improve the rating.

I was happy with my stay at the silver fern Lodge. It is centrally located not too far from the lake and the other activities in the area. We stayed in the eco room which was quite well priced and large. It had a double bed and two single beds and everything that one needed. It had a shared bathroom which was ok for the price. The bathrooms were clean although the one shower wasn't working and tended to flood. The TV didn't work due to the weak signal and no stations could be picked up. The communal kitchen area and the amenities were ok for a mid-range motel. The bed was really comfortable and the internet connection good. The staff were friendly and helpful when needed and it was easy to check in and out. And so, in conclusion, this is a good place to stay for the budget conscious.

Front desk is barely attended, and nobody picking up the phone. You forget your room key in your room and that’s pretty much it for ya. At check in the attendant barely looked up from his ‘urgent business’ doom scrolling. And when I noted that I got rudely talked back to. Our quarters stank of watermelon scent bombs. Rooms are collections of barely passable scuffed furniture and sticky carpets. Internet was intermittent. Bed was ok, but leaves you wondering what’s under those washed sheets. Hard to imagine these guys get any return business.

I stayed in room 207. The man at reception was helpful and polite. I was not impressed with the room. It is very in need of a refurbish. The room had a weird stale smell, lots of badly repaired damage and walls, kitchen bench & cupboards not clean. Electric plug hanging out of wall and downlights damaged & not fixed. Everything very worn out looking and dreary. I had no cutlery, plates, tea towel and no milk for a cup of tea. Jug and teabags were supplied. Very average motel that is not worthy of the name Silver Fern. More of a back packer style hostel than motel. The hallways were dated, damaged and had pictures half hanging off the wall. The communal kitchen and bathroom on the same level made it noisy from the echo of children screaming, people yelling and a dog barking (it seemed there was a dog in someone's room). Luckily I had ear plugs. Some net curtains over the ranchslider would be good for privacy from the road - there was a heavy curtain though which blocked all light. Good for sleeping but not during the day. The bed was really firm which was great. Parking is excellent. I was supposed to stay a second night, but got a refund through booking.com with approval from reception. Would I stay there again.......no.

Handy town town center, nice atmosphere with limited view of lake, great spacious room which was very clean. Dining room at the end of the corridor if we wanted to cook anything. Fairly quiet on our side of the building. The best reception we have had in a long while.

A is for average and adequate..........a place equipped, maintained and operated in as cheap a way as possible to benefit the bottom line. A Motel it is not, a Backpackers it is not, it is something strangely in between. Its a Lodge, whatever that is. Could only recommend if you like cheap and cheerful with no frills.

The room did not have any mirror. Beds were comfy. Most disappointing were the showers. No shelving, no chair, to put personal items or clothing on. No bath mat, or bath slat to stand on after showering. Long handled mop/broom is left permanently inside bathroom. Noisy at night. People talking in the hallways.

Nick has the best customer service mind, definitely an asset to the business. we did the late check-in and he was very helpful and accommodating. Really impressed and appreciated. Place was nice, clean and very affordable, for the price you paid (lowest rates in town) Being realistic, it is good!
