Silver Spur Ranch Idaho

After years of researching horse back riding trips, I decided on Silver Spurs. A gift to myself. It Started as a solo adventure, but along the trail rides, I found commonality with strangers who became friends It’s a family business where, I in turn, felt like family. I thought it was a one time event for me but after experiencing the landscape, stars at night, the freedom of no Wi-Fi or phone service- I can’t wait to go again.

This was truly the trip of a lifetime!! The Silver Spur Ranch is run by an absolutely wonderful family who make you feel right at home. The food is incredible - you will not go hungry! Being greeted after a long ride with a delicious homemade treat was the best. The horses are great and are very sure footed. The cowboys do a great job at pairing horses with the right rider. The rides are fun and fast- it was great to spend so much time in the saddle. Don’t think twice about booking this trip!

Silver Spur Ranch in Dubois Idaho was everything that I'd been led to believe and more.The setting is gorgeous with endless blue skies, rolling foothills and a variety of terrain to ride over. There were forests, streams, vast expanses of sagebrush, steep paths up, down and sideways. I was never bored ! At times the horizon seemed to stretch on forever and at others it was brought up closer framing the steep hills and cliffs as we herded the horses up and over. My horse was spirited, enthusiastic and loved zigzagging through the sage brush. I learned to give him his head and he knew exactly where he was taking me. I never saw a vehicle the whole time I was there that didn't belong to the ranch. No wifi added to the calmness of the stay. It's the Silver Spur family and support staff that truly made it a one of a kind experience. Always good humoured, available, helpful and enthusiastic they couldn't do enough for us. Up at dawn and probably the last to go to bed we were fed delicious meals and snacks. They saddled up the horses and released them to graze at night, setting up tents and campfires, roping sessions and singalongs. All this was done in a relaxed family way with their children helping out. It was truly an amazing adventure that bonded eleven strangers together to find their inner cowboy/cowgirl and guide the herd home over long days in the saddle. Of the many souvenirs that I took away with me, one of my favourites is the drawing that their children painted for me. It was a truly a memorable and stirring experience that I hope to repeat one day.

Unforgettable!!! My 18-year-old daughter and I joined two friends for the horse drive in mid‑June 2025, and WOW — what an experience. We covered 75 miles in four days, and every minute was pure magic. The horses were phenomenal, young, athletic and in amazing shape — an absolute joy to ride. You can feel how deeply this family cares for their animals, and it shows in every step on the trail. The hospitality from Dax, Kylie, Bodie, Holly, Porter, Grace, and their families was next‑level. Warm, genuine, and incredibly thoughtful. They anticipated every need before we even knew we had one. The food was excellent, the facilities were comfortable, and the entire experience felt both off the grid and luxurious in all the right ways. I’m embarrassingly late writing this review, but only because it’s hard to capture just how special this trip was. I would recommend it 1,000% to anyone craving a true adventure with amazing horses, incredible people, and memories that stay with you long after you’re home. If you’re on the fence, go! It’s the kind of trip you’ll talk about for years, and I can't wait to go back!

Silver Spur Ranch is the real deal! It was an experience of a LIFETIME! June 2025 was our first time on this horse drive vacation and it didn’t disappoint. Clearly, as we are already booked for 2026. The amenities are great and the food is absolutely delicious. The fellowship with the owners, staff and fellow riders was so much fun. The staff cater to your every need. It’s a real family ranch experience and I highly recommend this vacation for any experienced rider who is game for adventure, beautiful scenery, and a good time!

Nothing tops this trip! It’s the best combination of grit and magic. It’s a horse lovers dream! Awesome food, the kindest people, gorgeous views, great accommodations, and truly the best horses. Can’t wait to go again! 100/10 recommend to anyone who loves to ride.

There is no possibility of making this experience any more amazing! The horses are stunning, the people are kind, funny, and take great care of us! Thought is put into pairing us with the best riding horse for a good fit. The food is so good- they go out of their way to provide delicious and comforting meals and snacks. The lodgings are well though out and charming (both the lovely cabins at the ranch and the camping accommodations along the drive). I thought of this as a once in a lifetime experience, and now I'm scheming about when I can go back. You'll be exhausted and so happy! You get to know the other people on the drive in a way I have never experienced on a vacation. It's a dream come true and I'm grateful to the families at Silver Spur for sharing it with us!

Stunning views. Great horses and tack. Wonderful, friendly, accommodating staff. The best homemade meals and snacks! It is a lot more fun if you are an experienced rider and in good shape but some people surprised me by toughing it out. It’s truly an unforgettable week. I’ve been twice and will return. Highly recommended !
