Beverly!!!! Great front desk service! She shared tips and tricks for us to get around the city!|Our King size bedroom was VERY clean! The view was not great, but the cleanliness made up for it! The entire hotel was spotless!|Valet parking was fast and easy. |Perfect location for a tourist. Our first time in Chicago, will be back and stay here again. Simply because the staff keep the hotel safe and very clean.

The hotel was really cool and I loved the architecture. It was a great mix of classic and modern but very classy. Shout out to Enrique, he was so incredibly helpful and gave skis some really on point local recommendations. We loved it! There’s a great breakfast spot downstairs and it’s really centrally located to all the best spots.

Three of us enjoyed a three night stay in the double/double suite. The hotel is well situated in the Loop, a very walkable blocks from the Blue Line station, the Art Institute, Millennium Park, etc.|The staff was very helpful especially Beverly at the front desk and Manuel at the bar.|Why 4 and not 5 stars? Upon checking in we were given zero information nor was there any in the room (only at checkout did we find out what we’d missed when we heard Beverly checking others in and saw a handout on the counter). Our bathroom had no towel bars and a very loose faucet in the shower/tub, hard to toggle between the two. It took 3 tries to get the extra blanket we’d requested and the sofa bed in the suite was not particularly comfortable.|That said, I’d return here due to the location and general friendliness of the staff. The bar was also nice and we had excellent food there on our first night.

Nice hotel in a great location. Room was nice but no desk or chairs. Sitting area was sofa bed which was very low and uncomfortable. Staff was very helpful, particularly Beverly at the front desk. Easy walk to Millenium Park and the Art Institute. Public transit very close. Plenty of restaurants nearby, from fast food to very expensive.||Downside is noise. The "L" runs right in front. We were on the 9th floor at the back and could still hear the trains. They stop from about midnight and start up again around 5 AM. If you book with breakfast included, it is not really included. You are given a daily credit to use at their restaurant. Might not cover cost, depending on your appetite.

I just stayed at the Silversmith for 4 nights and was extremely impressed by the service and the value. The room was spacious and had important details like robes, a fridge, and nice products in the shower. Both the room and the public spaces were very clean, and the staff at the desk were very helpful and professional. When I checked in, I received four free drink tickets (1 per night) to use at the bar, which is tastefully decorated and has a chill vibe and great service (they also serve food). The location is fantastic, and it's close to a number of public transit stops so you can easily get there from the airport and explore other neighborhoods in the city. I was in the city for a conference at the Palmer House, but I saved almost $100/night to stay at the Silversmith instead, and the room was larger and nicer than what I would have had at the Palmer House. Be aware that, as with all historic hotels in this part of the city, you will have to pay an additional $20/night preservation fee, which is required for upkeep of historic exteriors. One drawback might have been that this hotel is right next to a train line, but the soundproofing in the hotel was very good and I only heard the train as a low rumble that didn't disturb my sleep (I had an interior room, which also surely helped). I also heard no noise from any other guests. In short, I was extremely impressed with the Silversmith and highly recommend this hotel.

The staff at the Silversmith are excellent. This is a beautiful hotel. ||I met Enrique, Beverly and Patty. They are wonderful people. The entire staff at the Silversmith are excellent. Really helpful and friendly. Great bar, great coffee in the morning. What more do you need?||My wife and I will definitely be back.

Fantastic hotel! Incredible customer service. My new go-to hotel when I’m traveling to Chicago! ||Free drinks from a stellar bar every night. Cold A/C. Free bottles of water. Luxury room with marble laid bathroom. Historic and classy. Have stayed at Londonhouse and think this hotel beats it out.

Google
Hotel is great location, very nice for the value, but Beverly at the front desk was the highlight of our trip. She was so kind, so welcoming, friendly and very professional! She gave us recommendations for entertainment and food and was truly our favorite. Enrique was also amazing with our luggage and valet for the car.

Yelp
We stayed here for five nights combining visiting family in the suburbs with sightseeing. This is a VERY convenient location near the loop, Millenium Park, great restaurants, and the El is steps from the door. We stayed on the backside of the hotel, facing the alley no view but also VERY quiet. The room was nice, clean, modern (no usb ports so bring one for your charger). The maid staff offers daily service, which was a treat after covid. They also offer one drink coupon a night, we had no issues with this (as some other folks complained about). What makes this hotel truly special is the staff. Patty and Beverly at the front desk and Enrique at the Valet stand will answer any question with a smile and terrific attitude. The weekend/late night staff was nice also, but I didn't get their names... Take advantage of Beverly or Patty booking your architectural tour - this will get you $10 off the regular price per person!!!

Yelp
I booked our stay here two months in advance and prepaid the entire stay. We arrived on a Tuesday at 1 o'clock, and they gladly checked us in early. We were told our room was upgraded. To what I don't know? Maybe we were upgraded to the back of the building so we don't have to hear the train. There were two of us and we're staying seven nights and we only had eight coat hangers . So I called down to the front desk and asked if we could have more coat hangers and I was told yes. So I waited and waited and waited for the hangers to arrive before I took a nap. They never arrived. I took a short nap and we headed out into the city. When we returned, there were no hangers. We noticed we only had one coffee cup, and no coffee stirrers. The next morning I went down to get our complementary coffee. The coffee pot was empty. The man attending the coffee service was on his cell phone. I asked him if more coffee was coming and if they provided hot water. He grabbed the coffee pot and a coffee cup, and he went to the back. He came back with a cup of hot water and fresh coffee. I would say he wasn't engaging or friendly. I asked the front desk again if I could have more coat hangers, I was told yes. We went out for the day and when we returned at night, we still had no coat hangers. Also, it seemed like maid service just emptied the trash cans and made the bed. The pillows on the couch weren't rearranged. There were wet towels on the counter in the bathroom. I went down to the front desk. I asked what housekeeping was supposed to do and apparently they didn't do what they were supposed to do that day. I asked if we could have coat hangers. I explained that I've already asked for them twice the young man at the front desk said yes, he would send them up right away and within 10 minutes or so we received hangers. Thank you. The next day we decided to go to the bar for a drink. There were two bartenders. A man and a woman and the bar was full. We took the last two seats at the bar and we chatted with the couple next to us. After about 10 minutes of being ignored I asked the male bartender if we could order a drink. I asked him if he could tell me about the wine choices and he gave us menus. His energy was just shy of being hostile. After a few minutes he never came back so we left. Overall, we found some of the staff friendly and some appeared to not like their job. The bathroom was not cleaned very well. The pillows were lumpy. You can see in the photos the mold in the shower. The location of Silversmith is great, the cost of the room was good. I thought we paid in full up front and when we check out we were told there would be an addition charge of twenty something (I can't remember the exact amount) a day. That was dissapointing.

Yelp
We stayed overnight at the Silversmith Hotel last weekend while attending the Chicago Symphony. I was quite surprised at how lovely this hotel was. The rooms were spacious and very clean with comfortable beds, the rooms decorated nicely, the staff was friendly, and the location was great. I will definitely be choosing this hotel again when we come into the city to go to the theater or for a weekend away.

Yelp
FIVE STAR REVIEW DUE TO SERVICE, DECOR, & SAFETY. Read entire review to see biggest concern discovered the morning of checkout. Pros: Beautiful hotel decor, the greatest staff, and super safe in downtown/The Loop Chicago. Enrique and Berun at the front door are phenomenal. I understand they are working for their tips, but their kindness and eagerness to help are genuine at the same time. They both go above and beyond to assist guests entering and exiting the building, with luggage, tips about the city and more. Nikko at the front desk was warm and inviting as well. The bartenders were okay once you get them talking. Renee was warm enough and held a conversation, at times maybe felt like she was doing it because she had to. The other gentleman I encountered: I didn't catch his name. He told me he's Cuban and he's been there since 2017, if I remember correctly. I approached the bar on Monday around 5:30 and I sat directly in front of him. He had his back side resting up against the inner circle of the bar facing me but he was watching the television behind my head. He didn't acknowledge me and I sat there a good amount of time before I asked if they had a happy hour menu due to seeing the board stating happy hour is from 4:30pm-7:00pm. He pointed to a closed menu on the bar to the right of me so I reached over and grabbed it as it wasn't close. I sat there a while and looked at the menu. He never once asked if I was ready or needed suggestions. So I finally told him what I wanted. I struck up a conversation with him to see how that would go! He held a lengthy conversation once it started going. I think the free drink vouchers to the hotel guests are not the greatest idea and here's why: I feel like they looked at me and automatically assumed I had some (you receive one per night of stay but you can use them together). It made me feel cheap and I definitely got the sense that the bartenders treated me different, and again before they even knew how I would be paying for my beverages. I bought too many drinks to count outside my two tickets I received. I used those on my first night but I ordered more $16.00 cocktails after that. I tipped based off of what my bill would have been had I paid for the two complimentary beverages. So my first night I tipped well over 20%. Second night with the gentleman, zero! I was so put off and offended that he disregarded me/flat out ignored my presence that I just couldn't. Cons: the rooms do not have microwaves, never found an ice machine but also didn't ask for one, the walls in the public bathroom and in the actual hotel room were dirty (just random splatters and different colors), and the back of the doors in the public restroom were visually disgusting around the trim and the door handle. The biggest con: the room heavily smells like mildew/musty/moldy. Upon inspection the morning we checked out, the wallpaper was peeing back at the baseboard and even though I was hesitant to peek, I did anyway. To my horror, it appears as though there is some heavy black-colored mold in the wall. *if you need to use a microwave I was informed they will bring one out of their kitchen and put it on a booth table in the restaurant and sometimes they will it up to your room (just weird and deters you from asking) Parking: We used Spot Hero online to secure parking for the duration of our stay and parked our car at the Grant Park North parking garage and it was great. The walk is super short and the garage is easy to maneuver. I saved the pass to my Apple Wallet and 2 1/2 days with the service fee was $69 and some change, a lot more affordable than the other options.

Yelp
Had a girls weekend Mother's Day weekend. Our room was clean and comfy. The staff was amazing. It was very convenient to everything we wanted to do. Chicago did not disappoint. Everyone we came in contact with was friendly and helpful. The city was beautiful!!!

Yelp
A hidden gem boutique hotel in the heart of downtown. A few blocks from Macy,Millenium Park, and the Institute of Art Museum. Adamus bar and restaurant have plenty of good grub and drinks to wet your whistles after a long flight. Staff are super friendly and accommodating. Definitely would recommend this quaint place.

Letty F.

Yelp
This is a nice hotel on the outside. Some care is needed in the rooms exterior decor. It's proximity to everything is on point. It is walking distance from the Bean and restaurants in the downtown area. The train is literally right outside the front door. The staff is friendly, especially the guys in Valet. The reason for the three stars is the room we stayed in needed a little updating. The tissue box was falling apart and the restroom floor and shower weren't all that clean. For the price we pay, they can do a better job in this area for sure. Will probably not stay here again.

Neki O.

Yelp
Nice hotel. Lobby is amazingly decorated. My room was nice & spacious rm 704. Staff was pleasant & always helpful. Free drink ticket was also a pleasant surprise. Shout out to Victor & Beverly at front desk!

Susan N.

Yelp
Owners need to know that the woman at the front desk on 2-1 is openly hostile & rude. I was looking for a handicap entrance to another business & she became infuriated said i was in the wrong place & kept directing me to the actual building which did not have a handicapped entrance. She tried to usher me out of the building & I told her I knew where the actual building was. "Well obviously you don't because you are in here"! If this is the face of your business, you are in big trouble. She was abrasive & inconsiderate She is clearly more suited for housekeeping Customers should look elsewhere. Many nicer hotels with wonderful staff in Chicago. You won't be in business long with this lady

Yelp
I would definitely stay here again. Great location when we did the Hot Chocolate run earlier this month. Front desk were very friendly as well as valet. We parked across the street but got a $10 voucher from the hotel.

Lauren S.

Yelp
Our plans changed last minute and Beverly J was amazing and helped us navigate the next steps. 5 star customer service. Can't wait to visit!

Ana B.

Yelp
Stayed here for a long weekend on a solo trip to Chicago. For me, the room was spacious enough and had everything I could want for a comfy stay. The location is great, since it's close to Millenium Park. I had a room that was away from the train. I was still able to hear the train pass, but it was not bothersome and I was still able to get sleep. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Chicago

Yelp
When I first got to my room, I was immediately put off and alarmed because a dirty old rag had fallen off the handle on the inside when I opened the door. When I went to pick it up, I realized it wasn't a hotel towel but rather someone's used towel left behind. I was extremely unnerved because what if they had just given me the wrong key to a room that was already taken or what if that was some weird mark for housekeeping to show there's just a single female in the room? (I've seen enough true crime to question suspicious things in unknown territory haha) I then stepped in to find they gave me the wrong room with only a single bed when I paid extra to get a room with two beds. So I went downstairs to get this fixed only to find out that apparently ALL of their rooms with two beds were filled for the night and the girl at the front desk was very nonchalant and kinda rude about it. I booked through capital one so she had me take up the issue with them and offered me a "suite" with a pull out couch. She claimed it was an upgrade but I chose the double deluxe I had over the single bed suite and had to pay extra for it. Ultimately I had no other option since I was traveling from California and didn't have anywhere else to go. I'm so glad my first night was spent with friends in the room, because we found that neither the front door nor the bathroom door would lock... another red flag. The room didn't have a deadbolt that I could latch from the inside either and I found that the peephole was shattered when I looked through it. I was fortunate one of my friends figured out that the only way to get the front door's to lock was to pull up the door from the floor til it lined up and turn the lock, but that door was pretty hefty in weight and I probably wouldn't have found that just messing around with it on my own. Same trick worked for the bathroom door, so I guess you could say their doors technically still lock. Safe to say I slept with a table in front of the front door the second night I spent alone. Bad vibes overall, would not recommend. Although the location itself was conveniently a couple blocks away from both the Bean and Chicago's art institute... I'm fair in balancing my pros and cons but all the cons truly outweighs the pros with this place. Oh but one last redeeming quality was the service from the guy at the front door because he was friendly and kind with every encounter.

Yelp
This is an ok hotel in downtown Chicago. The prices are through the roof for a simple room and does not reflect the quality of the room or service. On top of that, they charge a Preservation Fee of $20 a day (plus taxes of course) that is for 'the water in the room (2 bottles a day), $15 at the bar (which you can ONLY spend on wine or two ingredient cocktails, no non-alcoholics or food) and coffee and water in the lobby'. They didn't replenish coffee in the room (Keurig), so I had to go downstairs to get my coffee, which I think is absurd! They also didn't replenish bathroom amenities, so I had to ask for them. The staff at the reception was very friendly, but the hotel management is crappy. I don't want to always ask for things that should be replaced with housekeeping. The thermostat was completely off, 80F was comfortable while 72F was freezing. The bed was comfortable. The towels were fluffy but had so many fibers that stuck to my stick and got easily into my eyes - very uncomfortable. The shower tiles were not smooth around the edges, pretty sharp and could easily hurt someone. The water pressure is low. It's either burning hot or cold water, the tab was not working great. The hairdryer was so dirty and sticky, I disinfected my hands after touching it. The couch was extremely old and uncomfortable. The desk pretty small and not aligned with the height of the chair, working was a pain in the back. Lots of people stay in this hotel for conferences and I think they should accommodate for that. We don't need a couch, but a working desk and chair. We don't need free booze at a dark, shady looking bar in the lobby, but breakfast would've been nice. I only used the voucher at the bar once, but felt extremely uncomfortable sitting alone at the bar as a woman with a wine (you couldn't take it anywhere else).

Yelp
Stayed here for the Chicago Marathon, so please note that most of my feedback on this hotel pertains to staying there specifically for race weekend. Pros: There are many! For race weekend, the number one advantage is the proximity to the start and finish line. I actually found this hotel via the Chicago Marathon website. This is a partner hotel and it showed that this hotel is less than a mile from the start line and only about a quarter mile from the finish line. Can't beat that! They also give you complimentary bottled Aquafina water which was a game changer. Especially since the race day weather was high 70s/low 80s, I was hydrating like crazy. So this probably saved me at least $50 in water. The staff is also really friendly and helpful. They will greet you whenever you're coming out of the elevator or coming in from the main entrance. They also seem genuinely interested in what your plans are for the day and get excited about offering advice on where to go, dine, etc. Cons: The rooms are on the smaller side. Which I guess is to be expected in a downtown, historic hotel. It was a little tight with two people in here, but it worked. Also, there is only a shower in the bathroom. Since I was there for the marathon, sometimes I like taking an ice bath or at least laying down as I'm showering (maybe that makes me weird). Call me lazy, but I just didn't like standing in the shower after the race lol. Otherwise, I'd recommend staying here at the Silversmith if in town for the Chicago Marathon. Even aside from the Marathon, it's really great proximity to many other fun things in Chicago as well!

Yelp
Stayed here for a fun staycation with my boyfriend this weekend! We booked on Hotels.com ahead of time which was nice. The Loop is not usually my favorite area in the city, but it was a great stay! The hotel is really nice, the room was clean & comfortable, & the staff were all really helpful. It's right around the corner from the Art Institute and shopping on State Street. One pro tip, if you are staying I would recommend asking for a room that doesn't face the L. It may be a touch loud if you do, but overall we really liked the Silversmith and would happily stay again!

Sidney S.

Yelp
Honestly, the hotel wasn't as beautiful as I thought it'd be. We paid a little extra to get a king deluxe and honestly... the room size was pretty standard. Our view from our window was a brick wall to the alley behind. On the plus side, early check in fee was only $25 which was great since our flight landed in Chicago early. Complimentary water bottles were supplied which was great because I got a bottle before I left everyday. A keurig and mini fridge were also in the room. The location is great, you can walk to the bean or cindys and is close to 3 different stops. Overall, the location is what makes this hotel worth it.

Shannon M.

Yelp
Lovely hotel close to the park and art institute, located right on jeweler's row. Excellent desk staff! So welcoming and helpful! King suite was roomy and bed and pillows were super comfortable. Good water pressure and upscale toiletries. Lots of closets and drawers. Hotel design is modern but not austere. Coffee and water in the lobby were appreciated. There were a few housekeeping issues in the room and mattress on pull out bed is in disrepair and needs replacing. Also, bathroom door didn't fully engage and no way to lock it for privacy. But, overall, one of my better Chicagoland hotel experiences.

Mi K.

Yelp
I stayed here for a week. It's a beautiful boutique hotel. I just want to say the staff here- every single person- has been so warm and amazing. I felt very welcome and they made my stay as comfortable as possible. A+ hospitality! Here's a photo of the bathroom in my room.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
This hotel claims to be a 4-star hotel. It's not, so temper your expectations. I say this for a number of reasons. Although it is clean for the most part, we did find some hair in our room upon arrival, which was jarring. Please also be aware that because the hotel is historic, they charge you an additional $20 a night for "maintenance" fees, which is not included when you reserve your room. The receptionist claims we are warned about this on booking, but we were not. To offset these costs (and as a "thank you"), the hotel then gives you a few drink vouchers to use at the bar. However, the bar closes at 10 making it nearly impossible to take advantage of this reconciliation. The worst part of this hotel is honestly the restaurant. We had breakfast there one morning because we were rushed and putrid is the only word I can come up with to describe the food. It was not acceptable and made me feel ill the rest of the day. The main positives of the hotel are that the doormen are great, and the location is centrally located downtown as well as near the CTA.

Olivia D.

Yelp
I came to Chicago by myself. This hotel is perfectly located to discover the city. I was in room 510, king bed, super spacious, court side view! I am sensitive to noise, and the train noise wasn't a bother it was actually more like a white noise. I originally had a stay for 6 nights, but I couldn't go back to LA yet. Keneshia helped me adding a night. She was so helpful, warm and empathy with my situation. The staff was always helpful, positive from the doorman Enrique, the front desk Keneshia, Beverly, Anastasia (I don't have everyone's name down) and the security guy. The room was clean, spacious, the bed comfy (I slept 13 hours my first night). there is a coffee maker (I was able to get my coffee all the time just ask the front desk), same for water bottle. I was able to go everywhere, feel safe, and welcomed. I am highly recommending this hotel to everyone and if I have the chance to go back to Chicago I will definitely book my stay to the Silversmith Hotel! Thank you to the whole again for making my stay so stress free and comfortable!

Kehaulani K.

Yelp
I was excited to stay here until I got into bed and found a bunch of blond hairs in it. It was so late and I was exhausted from traveling all day. I called the front desk and the gal offered to switch rooms but I hardly wanted to pack my luggage up again, all I wanted to do was sleep. I asked if they could just send up fresh sheets and I would change them myself. She said the manager would be in touch, never heard anything from them. I called the next morning to speak to management to see what they could do for me since clearly it looked like the bedding was never changed, and no one was in. Again, I was told someone would get back with me to address the situation. Never heard anything back. I definitely won't be staying here again when I come back in a few weeks for work. Too many other options to chose from.

Lisa W.

Yelp
Let's just first start off with- yes they charge an additional charge on top of your stay for "destination fees" basically $15 (plus tax) a night for 2 water bottles and wifi. Unless you use the gym, robes, and store your bag (the normal stuff that every other hotel offers for free) it's totally a rip off, but what are you gonna do? Can't do much except drink your $15 water bottles every day. Haha. Anyway, besides the added fee, the place is pretty cool, a boutique hotel. Our room had high ceilings with tall windows and lots of space. The bathroom and room were cleaned well and comfortable. Bathroom was big and had only shower- good amenities. Room even comes with a mini fridge... although no ice machine. You have to call for it and it comes 30+ minutes, so plan accordingly. One thing I really wish they had was a swimming pool! I think it'll look nice with their art deco theme. The location is also very convenient. Next to all the train lines in the loop, 2 blocks from Millenium Park, rooftop bars, and short walk (10-20 minutes) to almost everything and a really good coffee shop across the street! We had a good stay. Probably one of the better rooms we were able to book through Chase Reserve rewards.

Roberto M.

Yelp
Whats a good way to ensure that you don't come back to a hotel? Get charged 3 times the amount of your stay and then only offer a refund that may take a week to clear. Yep that's what happened to me. After I came home I was charged another time. And when I called to have it resolved I was charged a a third time. After my third call I was told I was issued a refund. They apologized of course. But in the mean time I'm out almost 1000 bucks for a week until the refund is processed. Very discouraging that a place of business makes a mistake that's costs me 1000 bucks for a period of time and the best that they can do is say sorry. I know the money is coming back. But it's not 20 or 100 bucks.

Gary V.

Yelp
When I got to the hotel late last night. I was greeted by some of the best peeps u could of hired. We laughed over and over again while checking me in. Absolute delight and pleasure to have so much fun checking in. Rachel, Lisa, and Marquita where my GURLSSSS!!! Highly recommend the hotel also because of the location, cleanliness, and of course the employees like the three I listed above. Thanks for a great times see u again for SHOW!!!

Dusty C.

Yelp
I'm a travel nurse and perks are I get to stay in places like the Silversmith hotel! It was clean, comfortable, and awesome vintage vibe! The front desk staff was SO kind! It's in a great location!! I will absolutely be back!!

CJ H.

Yelp
We stayed one night at the Silversmith Hotel. MARVELOUS! This hotel is beautiful and the staff is great!!! Front Desk Clerk Kaneisha (Sorry for the spelling) is a wonderful representation of excellent customer service. We needed a cab and Kaneisha literally went out her way to walk the area and find a cab for us!! Who does this anymore?! Kaneisha.... Thank you

MJ H.

Yelp
Our stay in this hotel was great, especially for the price. The hotel clearly was renovated not long ago, as the decor (carpeting, wallpaper, furniture, light fixtures) all looked new. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was very clean, location was great. This was our 5th time in Chicago and we've stayed in 6 different hotels, so rating this as my favorite for sure.

Michelle H.

Yelp
Spacious rooms within walking distance to Grant Part, Millennium Park, the miracle Mile. Hidden gem at their lounge bar, the bartender makes THE BEST OLD FASHION!

Mei H.

Yelp
We checked in the hotel yesterday July 15. after we checked in, the concierge lady recommended us buy the boat cruise tickets from them that we got better price they offer us $31 per person. If we buy at the gate which is $47 per person, so it is good deal, but they trick us. We paid cash with a 100 dollar bill, they changed us $38. When we got to ticket office where we checked in, the cage lady said we had to pay $47 per person. We took out the voucher copy, the voucher don't even show the price of the total that we paid, we don't even got receipt from them that we paid the silversmith hotel. After we got back to hotel, they said they only book for us, but not paid anything yet, that a 100 dollar bill it was for change to small bills :(. F**k you) Bloodly bed sheet, and bad service

Terrible. A smug 22 year old greeted me and said they were closing the books for the night and I had to wait an hour. Granted it was 1:00 am. She was the manager and condescending and Terrible to at the least. A joke to be honest. Do not come here unless you line this type of treatment.

Yelp
We recently went to Chicago to see Hamilton and chose The Silversmith for our stay. From the moment we arrived, to the last step out of the hotel, we loved our stay. We arrived prior to check in time and upon arrival, the woman at check in shared that there were rooms available, however, she suggested that we wait until check in time to secure a better room. We were glad that she shared this with us and went to grab a quick bite to eat. When we came back and checked in, we were given a great room on the back side of the hotel that was completely quiet. The toiletries were excellent with an extra special touch of an exfoliating mitt, which was a first. The bathroom is very well lit and the decor and bedding were soft grays and white. It was very relaxing. The room may have been a bit on the small side, however, the ceilings were very tall which really gave the room a larger feel. We definitely enjoyed our stay here, especially the very close proximity to the CIBC theater, which is where Hamilton was playing. If you want to stay in the theater district of Chicago or South Loop area, this boutique hotel is a great choice!

Yelp
Terrible customer service; I would never stay here again. Front desk (Nicolette) not very helpful and was very rude upon check-in. Rolled her eyes visibly. Requested to speak to a supervisor and she refused.

Yelp
The Silversmith Hotel ended up being a great place to stay while in Chicago. It's somewhat budget-friendly and close to essentially everything a tourist could need or want. 1. The bedding was clean. 2. The bed itself was comfortable. 3. The gym facility was very nice, albeit small, but nice. 4. The staff constantly greeted you. 5. Close to most everything. 6. Free wifi 7. The bar in the lobby was very nice. I did find the elevators to be a little rickety. The doors had a large gap at the bottom letting in a lot of light. Our room faced a brick wall, and on the morning of check in, housekeeping woke us up at 8am to see if we were still in the room. I'm not completely sure why they didn't check their systems- I never leave a hotel at 8am- I'm sleeping at that time. Overall though I would definitely recommend staying here and would more than likely stay here again during my next visit.

Yelp
We stayed here for 2 nights and 3 days last weekend. Prior to arriving in Chicago we thought oh perfect location and beautiful hotel!! When we got there, yes to the perfect location but not as beautiful as we thought. There were two homeless men sitting outside of the door waiting to follow us in. The doors are always locked so we had to wait 3-5 minutes every time for someone to open the doors for us. One door is for entrance only and the other is for exit only. One night we decided to ask why the door was always locked and the agent told us it was for safety purposes, but we did not feel safe at all. As mentioned above, we waited 3-5 minutes for someone to open the door for us and one night around 8pm there was a homeless man that was drunk sitting on the plant outside leaning over towards us. If this hotel installs a tap key to access the front doors just like they have them for the elevators for all guest we could have opened the door ourselves and ran in and shut the door behind us and informed an employee. There should be a door ambassador or an employee there at all times to monitor the door. One person isn't enough to manage the door plus the desk and the lobby- just a thought. The room we stated in was a 2 bed room right in front of the elevator. According to the floor plan behind the door, this room was the largest room on the floor and to be honest, being the the industry myself this was nothing special. The pillows were dirty and the bedding had a nasty odor to them. The towels in the bathroom also had a weird odor and a couple of them looked like they were stained with dried up blood. We called down to ask for new towels and come to find out we had to go down seven floors just to pick up "new towels," meanwhile when we checked in the male agent told us all we had to do was leave the old towels outside our door and they will come to our room and replace them for us. FALSE. When we turned on the water to shower there was bright yellow water coming from the overhead for the first 3 times we turned it on. We asked a house keeper that happened to be cleaning a room next to ours and she mentioned it was because we were staying in a special chemical free room so it takes more time to clean all the dirty water out and she would suggest running the water for 5-10 minutes before getting in. A total waste if you ask me. There was NO view what so ever. The room did not have much light, we tired to open up the curtains but there was no hooks for that. Overall, we will not be staying here again. The only good thing I can say about this hotel is that it is in the middle of downtown so it was a great location. We had Target and CVS right around the corner from us. The bathroom was the best part of our room. It was actually really spacious with a lot of bright light!

Yelp
We stayed here this past weekend 10/23-10/25, the hotel is very clean, they practice social distancing. Staffs are genuine and accommodating. I had upgraded my room because I wanted to use the bath bombs I was gifted for my birthday. The king deluxe had the walk in showers. The suite was only $30/night upgrade and it was all worth it, it came with two TV's, sectional couch, larger room and bathrooms. Bathrooms both had separate shower and tub. The rooms were very clean, staff were quick to assist including free water bottles upon request. The staff brought up the new key cards up to my first room when I had upgraded which was very kind. For the price, it was worth it to me because of cleanliness, staffs and the location being very close to tourists attractions. For those writing comments about homelessness outside the hotel, this is not the hotel's fault. Just as if homeless people were to hang around anyone else's establishment, we can't control that. Every city has homeless people. I've seen this in my stays NYC, Miami, San Francisco and living here in San Diego. It would be different if they allow homeless inside the premises, that not the case. That's reality, and stop being ignorant.

Yelp
My husband booked this hotel for this past weekend for a special occasion. We had a long drive to Chicago coming from Detroit, the valet upfront was honestly really friendly and gave us tips on where to go and what to do. BUT The front desk this so unorganized, it's terrible! You call the front desk, the way the answer.. it's so unprofessional. For a hotel that labels themselves a "4-5star hotel" and as beautiful as it is..you'd think they have the right kind of staff to go along with it. It was honestly just the front desk we had an issue with. We called to get ice to our room at 730 , we had reservations at 9pm for dinner near by.. my husband and I had to call 3 times before we got the ice.. and by the time we got it it was 845 and our uber was out waiting for us. Every time I would call the front desk, asking for towels, ice, etc. they didn't even say "hello, how can I help you" the receptionist would actually answer the phone with a "yes?" with a nasty attitude. Who answers the phone like that? And why does it take you over an hour to bring a towel or ice! I am all about customer service. We came to this hotel from out of town, spent a lot of money for 2 nights, expected a top notch experience, but instead, we saw witnessed staff using their cellphones at the front desk infront of customers, and answering the phone inappropriately. As beautiful as the hotel and our room were, the L was our view which wasn't too bad but it did get a little loud, especially trying to sleep at night because of the noise. We probably won't be back to his hotel. The staff needs to get it together.

Yelp
Front desk is a disorganized mess. Apparently they think it's a good idea to implement new software with zero advance training and no increase in staff support on the Friday of a holiday weekend. Took three attempts to get a room assigned, the first time was early, before official check in so they said to come back at 11. No problem. I did and still no room. Although they this time said to try back at 1 or 2, I decided it would be best to wait until after official check in time of 3. When I went back at 3:15 it was a mad house. People had been given uncleaned rooms, others -like me- had checked in early but never assigned rooms and had to start all over. When I finally got to the counter I was informed that they had no clean rooms. They attempted to, again, blame it on the new software, but I'm unclear how software causes room to not be ready on time? I understand new software is painful, but this appeared to be much more an issue of poor planning, improper staffing, and sub-par customer service. I've been back home nearly a week now and there are still two charges pending on my credit card - the actual room charge and another charge that was ran at check-in for the full reservation cost plus incidentals. So a week later I have double charges still pending on my credit card, which seems odd. The only bright spot was Enrique, the bellhop who was very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately he wasn't enough to make us ever consider coming back.

Yelp
Wow! I've stayed at plenty of Chicago hotels, and trust me, I have my personal favorites but this- tops ALL of them. The service is top notch, the employees are incredible, so sweet and so on top of everything. It took all but 5 minutes to check in, find our room on the 9th floor and get on with my day. The beds are SOO luxurious and comfy. Decor is seriously so chic, and i can't even to being my love for the bathroom set up/ design. The shower was incredible, the mirror / lights were awesome to get ready in front of, plus their shampoo/ conditioner combo was great! I appreciated that you couldn't hear a thing from the hallway or your fellow neighbors, very peaceful. Plus, their robes that they offer in your room are so dreamy. Pizano's delivers VERY quickly and are open late across the street from this place- also, the front desk had outstanding recommendations for near by restaurants and things to do. They only offer valet parking which is 66$ per night, they also hold your bags if you need to check out and still want to site see! I cannot wait to stay here again!!!!!

Yelp
I am so upset right now. To start out, I wasn't allowed in my room the I booked on MY booking app because it had my husbands name on the app. My husband was trying to park the car and it took 20 minutes for him to find a spot because the silversmith does not provide valet. I have NEVER experienced this at any other hotel and have traveled frequently using the same Booking app for over 30 years. I had the. Confirmation, showed it to the girl at the front desk, opened up my email with the confirmation, showed it to her, opened my Booking app on my phone to show it to her, showed her a photo of my husbands license I had store on my phone, but NOPE, I had to wait there with my tail between my legs for my husband to come and show his ID. Once that happened, we went upstairs and tried to finally enter the room. Key's didn't work. My husband had to walk all the way back down to the lobby to get the keys recharged. THEN, we tried to make the pullout bed for my son and could not find any sheets. We called the front desk, they told us they should be in the closet. NOPE. After waiting another half hour, still no one came with the sheets and I had to call again. It was like pulling teeth just to get in our room for the night. Pretty hotel but it was not worth all the hassle and lack of customer respect. We come to Chicago several times a year but will NOT be staying at the Silversmith again.

Yelp
The hotel isn't terrible, the rooms are decent, a little old and outdated, looks nicer in pictures. The staff were all extremely pleasant and accommodating, from the checkin counter to the cleaning staff. What bothered me most was the parking, no valet, you park in a public lot a block away on Monroe, and pay exorbitant daily prices, no in and out either. Even with the hotel price discount and validated ticket, it's way too expensive. Another thing I'm not too pleased about was they placed a hold on my credit card for $560+ which has yet to be lifted even though I checked out five days ago and they already charged me for the actual stay. When I called they said they return the deposit 3-5 business days after checkout. The room was an okay size, not as big as I expected, but the high ceilings helped and the King bed was comfortable with a beautiful and elegant headboard. The bathroom was also nice and big, with great temperatures and water pressure. The view was depressing with a brick wall and alley way.

Yelp
Very conveniently situated in the heart of Chicago. Only stayed one night for a short business trip, but great experience. A lively bar in the evening, large king suite rooms. Everything was immaculately clean. The concierge was incredibly helpful, allowing me an extremely early check in as I arrived to the hotel at 8:30am. And accommodating my schedule with access to a secluded women's lounge on the mezzanine where I could change and get ready for the day's meetings.

Yelp
Great location, minutes away from the bean. Take advantage of this and wake up early to make it to the bean for photos without the large crowds. Service is top notch here and everyone is super friendly. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfy. We will definitely stay here again if and when we visit Chicago again.

Yelp
Nice boutique hotel with a great location near the Art Institute. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Water was hot and water pressure was very good. Staff was nice. No daily room cleaning, due to COVID. I'd stay here again.

Yelp
Great hotel right in the heart of everything. It's only one street away from the park with the giant silver bean. Great restaurants nearby. Great bars. Everything in walking distance. There is even a CTA Blue Line nearby to get to Chicago O'Hare airport for only $3/person. Comfortable king sized bed. Large room. Nice bathroom. Really reasonably priced. There is an elevated train just outside of the building, so I would highly recommend not being on the street side, or too low. We stayed on the 10th floor, courtyard side, so, I could barely hear the train. Also, the concierge Nicolette was great!! Good suggestions.

The hotel itself it's spotless clean ,classy chic vibe to it and they even have a happy hour with chill wave music just perfect if you want to stay in . The rooms are perfect as well . Overall our stay was very pleasant and nice .The bellboy was super nice as well very attentive to our bags at all times and the door . The hotel itself is a block away from Millenium park .literally you just have to cross the street and next street is the park . Everything is close by, can't beat that. Yelp
I loved staying here. First off, the location is perfect. We were in to see Hamilton, and the hotel is a 2 minute walk to the theater. It's less than a 5 minute walk to Millennium Park, and it is surrounded by great bars and restaurants (I recommend Miller's Pub). There are several reviews about the staff being rude. I didn't find that to be the case at all. We got into the city early, and the lady at the front desk not only got us an early check in at no cost, she upgraded us to a fantastic room at no additional cost as well. Everyone that worked there would talk to us, tell us to enjoy our day, and have a ton of recommendations when we needed them. The hotel itself is beautiful. The room was spacious. The bed and pillows extremely comfortable, and it had one of the nicer bathrooms of any hotel I have seen in Chicago. The hotel is right by the L, so when you are in the hotel you can definitely hear it. Even though we had a hotel towards the back of the hotel, we could still hear it in our room at night. In a way it's cool to fall asleep to the city ambiance, but after a late night of seeing the show, dinner, and drinks, when you want to crash, hearing loud squeals of a train track can be distracting. Overall though, I would stay there again. The location is wonderful. The hotel is beautiful. The staff is top notch, and a white noise machine would easily drown out the train noise. I just forgot to bring mine.

Yelp
I loved my stay here. The Silversmith is located in the Loop, and just steps or a brief walk away from so many places. I found the main entrance bit nondescript from the outside -- I actually walked right past it, and had to be redirected. My room was huge, with high ceilings and wonderful amenities. I had a mini-fridge and my own Keurig in the room. How awesome is that? The bathroom was huge too. Throw open the closet, and there are two bathrobes for your use. I had a small desk and even a box of blank cards and pencils in case I wanted to jot someone a note. Upon check-out, there's a hotel employee dedicated to making sure your cab or shuttle knows you know, when it's arrived. You get to sit in the comfort of the lobby and wait, and the employee fetches you when the shuttle's arrived. There are two computers tucked away in the lobby area with a printer, so I just conveniently printed out my boarding pass the night before my departure. I would definitely return again. And another bonus : there's a very generous government discount.

Yelp
I love this hotel! It's a beautiful 4 star boutique hotel in a fantastic location with spacious rooms. Absolutely perfect for a solo traveler or romantic getaway. Upon check-in, I was blown away by the amount of space I had as well as the comfort level of my room. My room had a beautiful bathroom, dressing area with full length mirror, king bed, and a comfy sectional sofa. There was even a closet by the door for my coat. I could easily see setting up a pack n play or cot in the room for those traveling with young children. Despite facing a busy street, my room was quiet and luxurious. I never heard my neighbors. The lobby area is small but gets the job done. There is a bar, which was busy every night of my stay, but not much else. You'll need to explore the neighborhood a bit for a bite to eat, but the hotel is just two blocks off the park and it's very easy to find great food as well as heaps to do!
