Simien Lodge

We’ve just wrapped up a great 4-night stay at the Simien Lodge. We came for the Gelada monkeys, and we encountered many hundreds of them, across four different troops, along with the rare Walia Ibex, Bushbucks, and more, along with various interesting birds. ||The lodge itself is beautiful, with cozy, spacious, rooms and a large main building with restaurant and Africa’s highest bar. But what really stood out was the incredibly warm, friendly, and helpful staff at the lodge. Perhaps the best staff I’ve experienced at any hotel in the world. Would highly recommend.

I spent ten days in Simien Mountains in November 2025. The trip was organised by Simien lodge. I was 4 nights at the lodge and 6 days trekking and camping in the mountains. I can highly recommend Simien Lodge for such a trip. They are very professional. The staff is nice and helpful. The food was very good, I did not have any health issues. The rooms are comfortable with electric heaters and hot shower. Transportation by 4x4 vehicle (especially needed in high elevation areas). Security was assured all the time. I will definitely come back to Simien Mountains. I love it there :)

This was the second time I have stayed in this property. The last time I went here was 7 years ago. This is a brilliant property with some incredibly motivated staff. The two ladies in the bar / restaurant, the manager, the bell boys, the chef. Each one of them are always smiling and more than willing help. The food is just brilliant and the chef has one of the best attitudes. He never said no for anything. ||The rooms are nice but can take some maintenance. The bathroom fittings are slightly loose, some rooms had issues with hot water, but the staff promptly moved those guests to bigger family rooms and the issue was sorted brilliantly.||Not to mention that the Gelada's can be found very close to the property. Infact on day one, the troop of monkeys walked through the property.

We stayed here for two nights, and it was a wonderfully memorable stay. Both the food and the staff were outstanding, and the setting was lovely. I highly recommend this lodge to any visitors to the national park.

The hotel was in the perfect location. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were beautiful. They even baked fresh delicious bread on the first night were were there. If I am back in the Simien mountains, I will definitely stay here again.

in this lodge you cannot except luxurios rooms. you are far away from civilization. The rooms are big, clean during the night cold, but at the reception they will offer you termofor with hot water to put in a bed. the food they prepare here is very good, one of the best in ethipia. Its very nice place to starts treking to simien mountains. in the evening you can enjoy a great atmosphere with local guys in the Highest bar in Africa

We liked it. Yes, there weren't many tourists in the hotel. They were just coming back. But the guys are trying. They missed their clients and are doing everything to make us comfortable. Especially the kitchen. The chef is a genius. It was very simple and delicious! We still remember the lunch boxes they made for us for the hike. Thank you.

The rooms, the food, and the staff were all amazing. It is in such a lovely location, and so beautiful and quiet and with great birds and mammals. We should have stayed a third day for sure; but it was still well worth the stunning drivve.
