Simple Merchant Coffee is hands-down one of the coolest and most unexpected spots in Newport, RI. Tucked away in the Innovate Newport center, this place isn’t just a killer cafe—it’s also a full-on magic shop! Run by the incredibly friendly and welcoming Jordan, this shop is bursting with good vibes, creative energy, and a whole lot of heart. The coffee? Phenomenal. You can tell a ton of care goes into crafting each drink—the flavors are thoughtful and unique, and everything we tried was seriously delicious. Even the sandwiches and decor are clearly made with intention and style. But here’s the twist: it’s also a fantastic magic shop! Totally slept on. We were blown away by the selection of singles, gear, and accessories. Whether you’re a longtime MTG player or just getting into the scene, this place has something for you—and the community vibes are just as magical as the merchandise. We’re already looking forward to our next visit. Can’t recommend Simple Merchant enough. Don’t miss out on this cozy, creative haven!

This coffee shop deserves six out of five stars! My friend and I are avid explorers of coffee shops and culture worldwide, and this spot has officially claimed our top ranking in Rhode Island. I have incredibly high expectations, especially when I spot a La Marzocco Swan on the counter, varies coffee source, and they absolutely exceeded them with their outstanding coffee drinks.

On our first morning in Newport, we happened upon this great place - thanks to its excellent reviews.What an innovative place in which to enjoy our morning (as well as many other times of the day) coffees. In Newport for a few days, we were sampled some great snacks here too, The space also is a great factor ....this gave the toddler in our group plenty of it! You are doing a fine job, Jordan & crew. Rich and complex espresso, amazing baristas. Terrific music, great vibe. House and rotational blends available. Indoor and outdoor seating. No views of the ocean, yet I would stop here again and again on the way to downtown Newport.

Felt like my classmates were running this coffee shop. Such a chill group of bros running this spot with such elegance. Got the Salted Maple Latte. 10/10. I went to other coffees go nearby like Custom House coffee shop and this way better sorry to say so. Also for 4 espresso shots in my latte and it was exactly the taste, and flavor I was looking forward. Latte was ultra creamy and the ambience of the cafe is magnificent. On top of that they give me a Pokémon card after purchase 🥹

Fantastic coffee shop in New port! The signature expresso drinks are so creative and delicious. Aerocano is exceptional. The grapefruit flavor worked really well. Very impressed. Breakfast food was delicious too with several hot sauces to experiment with. Staff were super friendly too. What a great place and highly recommend!

Love the vibes + great staff here, reminds me of coffee shops in SoCal! The grilled cheese is insane- looooads of cheese and fig jam for a sweet and savory experience. We didn’t love the flavors of the apple pie latte which leaned a little sour, but the Cinnamon Honey iced latte was crazy good. Would def come again!
