Sina Maria Luigia (Parma, Emilia Romagna) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Named for Napoleon’s second wife, the Duchess of Parma, Sina Maria Luigia is the mid-century version of a classic grand hotel — hidden behind its looming mid-century façade, however, is an elegant contemporary hotel, mixing modern comforts with historically inspired decoration. The rooms and suites vary widely, culminating in the two-level Suite Maria Luigia; most unusual are the Penthouse rooms, up under the eaves. Food, as you may expect from Parma, takes center stage; Maxim’s, something of a local favorite, does its level best to present the flavors of Emilia-Romagna in their best possible light." - Tablet Hotels

The Sina Maria Luigia was the 2nd Sina property we stayed at in our 2 weeks in Italy. Again, another fantastic experience. The hotel is located about a 10-minute walk to City Center/Governor’s Palace. A nice park down the street, lots of shops and restaurants around.|We had a Junior Suite which was recently renovated. A nice big room, very clean, good-sized bathroom with two sinks and a bidet, large closet with lots of hangers. The room also had a safe, always a plus. As we experienced in the previous Sina property the décor was tasteful and warm. The amenities were the same as the last Sina. So we began to see the Sina model repeat.|I must mention the staff, again all so kind, pleasant and helpful. Good people to help out make traveling so much easier. Enrico at the desk cheerfully answered all our questions. The GM Ferdinand was also on hand to answer questions and gave us a great luggage shop recommendation when our suitcase zipper finally wouldn’t zip anymore. |The general areas looked as if they were all recently remodeled. A nice big lounge area with a small bar and a bartender who was always available with a call from the front desk. Clean, comfortable and décor was well done. I particularly liked the choice of artwork.|They had a dining area. It looked clean and comfortable. Sorry to say we did not eat there, so no comments.|There was also a workout room on site. The usual weights, treadmills and bikes. The room needed some work and the bike my wife wanted to use was not operating.|One downside to the property was the lack of hotel-owned parking. There were 3 garages across the street. Enrico at the desk was very helpful in recommending the best of the lots. The Park DUS (get the correct one because there is another Park Dus next door) is about a 5-minute walk from the hotel, was very secure and reasonable daily rate.|For the Parma area the Sina Maria Luigia was a great choice for us, and the room rate was very affordable. |‘The Smiths’

I booked this hotel because of the parking it offers (Google Maps description). This hotel doesn't have any parking. Instead, the receptionist directed me to find public parking spaces marked in blue or parking garages in the night. Furthermore, the roof windows in the room were broken so there was no room darkening in the bedroom. The mattress was unusually hard. At breakfast, one of the two coffee machines was broken. Overall, this hotel is max. a 3-star hotel.

We were going to stay at the NH Parma hotel as we were arriving by train. However, family of UK friends who live in Parma advised against staying in close proximity to the station as it was a very shady area. The Sina Maria Luigia therefore seemed the best compromise - near to the station but getting in to a better area. ||The on-line reviews were not very good so we were hoping for the best but expecting the worst. However, we were pleasantly surprised by our stay. Public areas were very smart although the restaurant looked a little tired. Our deluxe room was large, modern and in quite good condition. We had some issues checking in which set alarm bells ringing but they were resolved quickly and satisfactorily. Beds were comfortable if firm and bed linens were good quality. Wi-Fi worked well as did the a/c despite being noisy. The bathroom was large too with good towels and toiletries and we had bathrobes and slippers. There was tea and coffee making facilities but no milk. We had the now old fashioned room key which meant drop off and collection at reception.||Breakfast was adequate to satisfy most tastes. However, towards the end of breakfast service (10.30am), items ran low and the few staff on duty did nothing to replenish.||The staff we came across were not terribly forthcoming, doing the minimum. But there was one Asian receptionist who was lovely, helpful and friendly. ||Hotel location turned out to be very good, only a fairly short walk into the centre of Parma, manageable in 30c heat. Think the NH hotel would have been just a bit too far out being at the back end of the station. What was really nice was the road the hotel is on is lined with lime trees and the scent from the blossoms was gorgeous both day and night.

The hotel was just round the corner from the old town of Parma so very well situated. The rooms had comfortable beds and good air conditioning, we ate breakfast in the hotel but not dinner. The reception staff were very helpful with all enquiries.

Took a day trip to Parma from Florence and spent one night here. I made an error and booked the wrong night - a week out from the night I intended. Arrived at the hotel - a very short 5 minute walk from the train station - and explained situation to Andrea, who was at the front desk. He took care of me and my traveling companion and secured a room for each of us. He was so understanding and accommodating. Hotel is conveniently located to the train station (5 minute walk if that) and about 10 minutes from the city centre. Very clean and very updated, modern rooms at a fabulous price. Staff so helpful! Upon arriving back at the hotel after dinner, my friend realized he did not have his phone. Staff called the restaurant to confirm it was there and my friend was able to take taxi back to restaurant to retrieve it. Overall a GREAT experience, a great hotel and highly recommend.

Don’t stay here. Service is inexcusable. Almost 30C and they don’t have air conditioning. We checked in and they said air co is working - came to our room. After dinner, they brought us a broken fan and said the air co os turned off for the whole hotel. This was their last fan they said. No apologies and only excuses.

Very nice hotel and an easy walk from Parma station, and an enjoyable 10min walk to the center. Many stores and sites to see along the way, but I suggest to get off the main road and wander.||Welcoming staff, great suggestions for dinner, always helpful. Room was good for 2ppl with large comfortable bed and a sofa||Breakfast was adequate for our needs. All in all I would recommend.
