Sina Villa Medici, Autograph Collection

My wife and I stayed here on the "Tuscany" portion of our trip through Northern Italy. The hotel was fantastic. The staff was helpful, professional, kind, and warm. The room was large, charming, comfortable, and modern. The location was excellent. The restaurant was extremely accommodating. My wife was allergic to an item on the menu, so they made her something special that was not on the menu, which she said was absolutely delicious. It was our favorite hotel on our trip.

All decked out for the holidays. Second time staying at this hotel. Very convenient to train station and center of Florence. Claudia at the front desk was a wonderful help, friendly and extremely informative of local spots to visit The room was nice sized. The shower is very small but had good water pressure. The bed is quite firm but was a full size king. We enjoyed a cocktail at the bar with all of the complimentary snacks.

We spent 2 1/2 weeks in Italy and the Sina Villa Medici was the 4th Sina property we stayed at. The 1st three Sina properties were all excellent, but somehow the Villa Medici was able to take it up one notch higher. The service provided by everyone was outstanding. They made us feel so welcome and special. It started when we pulled into their secured entrance - the valet and bell people were right there (and we arrived late at 10pm). The person at the front desk was pleasant and welcoming. We were upgraded to an executive suite. This particular Sina is co-operated with Bonvoy, so our status was helpful here. We had been driving for 4 hours so we were hungry, but the kitchen was closing at 10pm. Not to worry, the staff took care to see that we got a table even though the restaurant was booked. The restaurant is jacket required to dine, but given our late arrival the staff overlooked our more casual attire and sat us with smiles. Our waiter Lapo was incredible. I have never experienced service so good. The perfect level of attentiveness without feeling like he was camped at the table. Great suggestions on food and wine. No rush to move us along given the late time we sat down. We were there until 11:30pm enjoying great food, drink and the atmosphere. Even if you are not staying at the Sina this restaurant is a must experience. The food and service was so outstanding that we returned the next night for dinner. This time with a reservation and the proper jacket attire. The service again was fabulous. A different waiter, but he was also top notch. Our suite was very large. A large bedroom and separate seating area. Well appointed, comfortable bed, 2 full baths, balcony with seating and a nice view. They had also left a chilled bottle of Prosecco and scones in the room as a welcome gift. As we had seen at the 1st three Sina properties the amenities were consistent. The Sina business model was again evident....great people, excellent service, a level of consistency that makes you feel comfortable and at home. The Villa Medici also has a Harry's Bar on-site. We stopped in for aperitivo our 2nd night. We were delighted with the high level of appetizers, not just the usual chips and nuts. The Sina Villa Medici was fantastic. I highly recommend a stay. Not sure why my last review was removed, since everything I shared was factual. This hotel is advertised as a five-star boutique property, but the reality doesn’t match the marketing. The service is closer to a three-star experience at best. Staff were consistently rude and dismissive, and to make things worse, one of my shirts went missing after housekeeping. There was also loud construction early in the morning, which made it impossible to rest. None of this is offensive—it’s simply the truth of my stay. The hotel could be perfectly fine if it were upfront about what it actually offers, but it’s nowhere near five-star quality with the current service and setup.

This hotel I will not visit again. I would rate it at max 4 stars. The personnel except a few characters at the reseption and at the concierge were very pleasent and helpfull. The second room offered to us was large enough to open the suitcases. Unfortunately there was a strong sewege smell in the room and in the hallway during our stay. The hotel is also some 1,5 km away from the center. So be prepared to walk a lot every day. The breakfast that was included in the room price was ok but very simple. A poridge or an omelet woul cost extra. A picture of our pyjamas after the room was tydied.

My wife and I spent a week here and had an exceptional experience. Firstly, the staff was, as you'd expect, top-notch helping arrange transportation, city visits, etc. ||I want to especially call out their service in working with me for a surprise birthday flower arrangement. We talked through budgets, color scheme, flower types ahead of time and it was executed perfectly. |We had a room on the fifth floor and it had an incredible view. The location is the perfect distance to be walkable to most of what you'd want to see (15 minute walk) while being outside the crowds|The breakfast was very good and had a great selection of items. For our busy days the buffet was perfect. ||It is expensive but well worth it.

This is an excellent hotel in Florence. The staff from Check in, Concierge, housekeeping and the porter were fabulous. The rooms were good size and immaculate. The restaurant was a good venue from breakfast to dinner. The location is close to many sites and as we are walkers this was perfect for us. I would happily stay here again and look forward to it on future trips to Florence.

My friends and I, a group of four, booked two Junior Suites for three nights in a five star hotel, Florence 「Sina villa Medici」, through a Taiwanese travel agency, for a total of six nights. |We booked Junior suites because we wanted to be comfortable. |However, after we had dinner together, when my friends went into their room, they noticed an unpleasant smell. Since it was late, they opened the windows and turned the air conditioning in the living room on full blast for the night.|The next morning, our friends told us that there was a wooden plank nailed to the floor of their bathroom. They found it strange that such a room would be given to guests, but we continued our itinerary and did not change rooms.|The serious problem occurred on the third night. We returned to our room very late from our trip. Unexpectedly, the cleaning lady had closed the windows and turned off the air conditioning in our friend's room. As a result, the entire room was filled with the stench emanating from the bathroom's septic pipes. Our friend had no choice but to open the window and bring all the luggage inside. He spent the night feeling extremely angry.|Although our travel agency in Taiwan helped negotiate several times, the hotel remained adamant, only willing to refund the travel member points rather than the full amount. This was a disastrous experience for us, and I strongly advise everyone to never stay at this hotel again.

Comfortable and easy for walking to the river and bridges. Staff were courteous. Breakfasts nice. Quick taxi ride to several tourist sites.

Lovely hotel - staff is excellent and it's an easy walk to most of the historical sights. Lots of local restaurants as well nearby. Rooms are well appointed - roomy and quiet - with beautiful artwork. Beds are firm and very comfortable, lots of closet space in the room. Kettle with instant coffee and teas in the room (our only quibble), and the pool area is gorgeous as well. Did not try the restaurant or bar but both look classic. There is no club floor and instead the hotel offered points for platinum+ members.

There are so many great things about this hotel but what set it apart from me was service. My booking was split in two for a few reasons, and then a third extra night was added at the end. They were able to keep me in the same room , a suite, the whole time but what set it apart was upon arrival. I arrived about noon (after flying all day/night) and was informed that my room was not ready and that checkin was 15:00. Standard. But what happened next was surprising. I told them I really did not care about my upgraded room, I just needed any room because sleep was priority as I had some working dinners that evening. They offered that I take another room for 3-4hrs to sleep in while they prepared my room. That I have not had happen before. The guys at the bar were great. Nice glass by the wine selection and they 'broke the rules' by getting more than the usual bar food when we needed a bigger snack with drink. I think by day 3 or 4 they were greeted me with 'a pinot for you sir?' The basics, Fabulous hotel in a great location. Quiet is there is kind of a pedestrian only mini-piazza in front of it, so no road noise. It is probably 10-15minutes walk from the main shopping and scenic ares of Florence but there are great small and uncrowded restaurants within 5min walk. The Opera is also just over 5 minutes walk so no better place to stay if you are coming for that. Rooms were clean and updated and comfortable. I think the bad reviews posted must reflect a pre-renovation time. Some of the visiting teams whom come into town to play the local team Fiorente stay here so you see the bus and some players and staff around form time to time. Great place, gets my highest recommendation.

A nice hotel. The pool is great. The beds aren't very comfortable. In hot months of July the a/c barely keeps up. The hall ways are hot. For the price I would have expected more. Their staff is fantastic and friendly. Great location with wonderful restaurants around.

Very nice Marriott property with an equally capable staff. Has an intimate, cozy feel versus a large, expansive hotel. Short walk to the Arno River. Nice location as we had dinner at three great restaurants within a two minute walk.

Such an unpleasant experience unfortunately. The hotel is extremely dirty. The stairs, floors, carpet, etc going to the hotel rooms are dirty and are not cleaned daily. We had a 4 night stay and passed by the same dirty areas each day. The mosquitoes in our room were relentless. We were bit multiple times. Not sure if anything could be done but maybe spraying around the hotel would be helpful to prevent this. If you're an ambassador member, don't count on any good upgrades either. We had a mosquito infested "suite" then bumped down to an even worse room. The worst part was the awful smell on the 4th floor where we stayed. There is a horrible odor, almost like rotten eggs which was reported but nothing investigated, the solution was to spray a deodorizer in the hallway. The staff was pleasant and the pianist was amazing but that was as far as the good got. Marriott corporate really takes a more active approach to fixing these issues for guests paying a lot and traveling far.

What a fabulous grand hotel in a great location! I found the concierge and the entire staff to be so helpful! The hotel is located in a quiet section however within a 10 minute walk, there is a high end shopping district with Gucci, Louis Vuitton,Prada, etc. I used American Express Platinum to reserve the room and was upgraded to a suite - very happy although only stayed for 1 night. There was wine and snacks welcoming me to the suite. The sitting area was well appointed and the room was immaculate. Very comfortable! The day we arrived In Florence, there was a taxi strike and we were at Piazza Santa Croce. Paolo the concierge set us up with a private driver who picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel. 5 stars! Harry's Bar located in the hotel was a lovely place to have a drink waiting for my room. Highly recommend and when I return to Firenze I will be staying at the Sini Villa Medici!

Don't understand the reviews, this has to be the worst autograph collection I've stayed at. It's quaint (read: dated). Really disliked our stay and would not recommend this property in the least. There is no a/c even though the website states they have a/c and an individual thermostat in each room (it doesn't work). When asked about it, they told us to open the balcony door - except we had already tried that and ended up with mosquitos and bug bites the night before. They ended up bringing us a fan which helped, but we shouldn't be sweating in our room in November. Next up - the beds are not comfortable, neither are the pillows, and the sheets feel not far from sandpaper. Oh and our "king" bed was two twins pushed together with and obvious gap in the middle that was uncomfortable to lay on. Just keep the beds separate and don't advertise as a king room please. On one of the days during our stay, there was an insane amount of construction noise in the room above us. It sounded like things were falling off the walls in our bathroom, it was extremely loud, not exaggerating, you could hear the noise from anywhere in the hallways too. And this started at 10am and was still going on when we returned at 1pm. So much for a hotel being a homebase to relax and recover while exploring a new city. The gym is basically a couple of treadmills in a very stale room, not inviting in the least. It's also a weird maze and old elevator to get there. The tv has more non-working channels than working ones (with maybe 2 or 3 news channels in English but nothing else), and is barely viewable from the bed. The room key has a large/heavy brass (?) room number plate, which isn't the most fun to carry around town in your pocket. Oh also - the wifi is extremely slow, always cutting out with speeds of 5mbps when it did work - we ended up just using our cell service most of the time. Positives: The balcony and courtyard view are nice, and the concierge was ok. Location is close to the train station and about 15 minutes to all of the sights. We didn't check if the pool was open, and didn't try the restaurant.

I stayed here for four days in the "florence suite". This was the dirtiest room in a " 5 star hotel" I have ever stayed in. I have attached photos of the balcony of their "suite" that cost over 1000 euros a day. It looked nothing like the photos. The bathroom also had a very strong odor like someone just took a dump. I was unable to order breakfast at 6am due to no staff being available, not even a belhop, just one man working the desk. Lastly I left my Balmain sweater hanging in the closet and magically it disappeared. The staff members were "unable" to locate my jacket and the manager accused me of making the whole thing up instead of just assisting me as I was helpless without their assistance. I found several reviews on google stating they had things stolen while staying at this hotel so its clearly a pattern that they do not want to resolve, and I wish I had those reviews sooner, so here I am warning you, this place is a travelers worse nightmare. The staff was unhelpful and rude and to be honest I warn all Americans to STAY AWAY.

Excellent hotel near the train station. Beautiful and comfortable rooms, very friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend this hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms and bathrooms were a nice size. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. No view though. The service was exceptional. Every one was so kind. The hotel is close to the train station. About a 10 euro cab ride. We walked down to the hustle and bustle of the city every day. It's a nice walk along the water. We ate at a nice little coffee shop practically across the street which was very good for fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee and croissants. Gamberini was a popular place for coffee etc. We also had dinner at a nice restaurant right down the street which we found on the Fork . I got a 20% discount off the food there too. I definitely recommend the hotel for the location, ambience, service and room size. We did not eat in the hotel. Be prepared to walk a bit down to the center of town. We did about 20,000 steps a day.

Very good hotel other than the beds. The beds were very firm and the pillows were stiff. The food was pretty good. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Would recommend.

Disgusting and unsafe hotel. The "customer relations" manager needs training on how to provide service. When spending a certain amount of money theres a certain amount of service that should come with it. This place is a travelers worse nightmare. The way they treated my friend is disgusting and I can't wait for them to get exposed for what they did.

Great location! Walk everywhere in the city or use the free car service. Hotel was fantastic! Offered upgrade to suite without asking. Everyone spoke English and the front desk was extremely helpful. Nothing more I can expect from this amazing beautiful cozy hotel in heart of Florence, Minoolifediary and me visited this beautiful place in April and it was gorgeous. The room is nicely decorated with manual key like all vintage hotel. The lobby is full of places that you can seat and enjoy your time. If you seat and lobby and would like to eat or drink, thats the best part. Whatever we try in lobby was best specialy the pizzzzzzzaa. So delicious with fresh mozzarella. The drink either alcoholic or hot drink are also so good. They have also free shuttle to downtown which is in walking distance. The staff also super friendly and polite. This was a nice hotel a short distance away from the main area in Florence. we stayed in room 262. We walked from train station and found it perfectly. As an elite member, I was a little disappointed that we did not receive an upgrade of any kind. I also had spoken to the Premier line before arriving to indicate we were celebrating two special occasions. None of which were acknowledged. While our room was standard, it was nicely appointed, clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful and even told us about the shuttle that commutes back and forth from the carousel area to the hotel. I received breakfast every day because of our elite Marriott status. The first day was quite a challenge. We had arrived just before it opened which was fine. However, as the opening time came closer, a large group of tourists also showed up, all at once, and essentially stormed the restaurant. It was crowded, chaotic and not pleasant. The second day was quite different and less full. We were able to dine in the garden room/atrium just off the main restaurant which was a treat. One evening we also had cocktails in the main bar area with leather couches. The lemoncello was excellent. I probably would stay again in the future because I like a smaller hotel. The pool was also lovely but not open when we were there. Beautiful interiors.

This isn't a fancy hotel. The decor feels plain and outdated, and the outdoor pool is nice but fairly small. However, they get an A for effort.

Perfect...quiet location away from the bustle of Florence. Nice rooms, great pool, very good service! Rooms are quite nice too. We would certainly stay here again.

"Five Star" comfort in every way. Our "triple room" included two spacious clean bathrooms with an abundance of towels / robes / slippers and all necessary condiments. Water pressure perfect. Hotel itself is beautiful with its marble architecture. The bar area is beyond comfortable as you're seated with tour friends enjoying your wine. The relaxation extends to the garden area on beautiful evenings. Service couldn't be more friendly, attentive and accommodating. We also had our best Italy dining experience at Villa Medici. Coordinated with Perillo Tours our four (4) course dinner included: 1- "Zucchini flan on Basil sauce" - soft -delicate and most flavorful. Truly different - truly enjoyable 2-"Asparagus Tortello on Tuscan Herbs" - An asparagus dish unlike any other. Best preparation of asparagus I've experienced. Magic... 3-"Seabass Fillet with potatoes, tomatoes, Pine nuts and olives". Freshness with unique combined flavors ruled here. Perfect entrée. 4-"Florentine Zuccotto" - Delicious moist lady finger sponge cake with chocolate gelato - fantastic finish. A dining experience we'll always remember.. A Grand Hotel we'll never forget.

I've been to Florence several times but this hotel provides the best customer service ever! From your arrival and tending your needs while your here, they make you feel at home. Hands down to Grand Villa Medici!

5 stars rating creates certain expectations - welcoming attitude, certain level of accommodations, little comfort details ( water in the room, ability to control temperature in you own suite, working appliances such as minibar refrigerator, etc), interest in your guests comfort and plans, etc. Non of the above are present in this hotel. For the rate you will be expected to pay, your options are wide open - use them.

Best hotel we stayed in throughout our time in Italy. Accommodating staff, good dinner & breakfast buffet. Not very close to many sites, but still well worth it. Very comfortable rooms and bathrooms.

It's a vintage elegant hotel with small grounds. They have a restaurant, spa, pool and bar on site. The service matched the cost of staying here. It's $800-1300 per night but the service .... you don't have to ask. They just do it for you. They drive us around in their Mercedes minivan. We arrived when the restaurant closed. We were hungry. So they got us baskets of croissants, pastries and bread. I think there was a platter of snacks too. Then made us pizza and fried pizza with wine and beer. It was quite the spread. They set our bags in the room before we got there. They do what most fancy hotels do - they basically get everything set in the evening so you can slip into bed. Why four stars? The rooms needed updating and we were facing the road side. They are not like some fancy hotels where they raise their nose at you if you don't look a certain way. The location was excellent. It's close to Firenze Santa Maria Novella Station, shopping and the piazzas. I highly recommend this place.

By far one of the best hotels in Italy! The hotel is very luxurious and spacious. The rooms are impeccable. There are classic rooms and modern rooms with great views and the hotel even has a pool and complimentary car service. The location is also very convenient. It is a few minutes away from the train station and walking distance to the Duomo.

This is a very nice hotel. My wife and I stayed at this hotel for six nights. Great very nice large clean room. All the employees were super nice and helpful. The services and kindness of the staff for breakfast were the best. Eating in the courtyard viewing the pool was peaceful and beautiful. I would definitely stay at this hotel not only for the great location and short walk to everything.

We had an amazing experience at Grand Hotel Villa Medici. First of all, the building is gorgeous; an 18th century villa, in the middle of Florence (10 minutes walk from main attractions), and very well preserved and nicely decorated. The staff are amazing; professional and courteous, willing to address any problem you may have as quick as possible. We had a great time staying here, and highly recommend it if you are visiting Florence.
