The 21 Best Things to Do in Helsinki (Updated 2025)

"The city’s only museum focused on older European paintings and portraits (14th–19th centuries), Sinebrychoff houses around 4,000 items and includes parts of the original Sinebrychoff residence so you can walk through the old estate and get a sense of affluent 19th-century life in Helsinki." - Matthew Kepnes

How to Spend 3 Days in Helsinki: A Suggested Itinerary for 2025

"Housed in a historic 19th-century building, I enjoyed the Sinebrychoff Art Museum for being the city's only museum devoted to older European paintings and portraits — the top floor contains works from the 14th–19th centuries while the bottom floor features more modern pieces and photos, and part of the visit lets you walk through the old Sinebrychoff residence to see how Helsinki's wealthiest lived in the 19th century." - Matthew Kepnes

A charming museum with a beautiful collection of classical European art and an elegant historic setting. The preserved 19th-century rooms are a highlight, offering a glimpse into Helsinki’s past. The museum is small, so it doesn’t take long to explore, but it’s definitely worth a visit for art and history lovers.

Beautifully preserved interior that reflects the building’s past. You really feel transported to another era. The collection of paintings and sculptures is impressive, and the museum is well worth visiting. Highly recommended.

Wonderful museum, many paintings by famous artists, without glass, a rare opportunity to see paintings like this. Interesting rare objects, very interesting decoration of the rooms(look at the curtains, they are wonderful), you can feel how each room was used, feel the era. be careful and find the mouse))) a must visit

Not so big, but so cozy and beautiful! It’s great to see how entrepreneurs from XIX century used to live and what kind of art collections they had 😊 The second floor is always free to visit

Not bad, many items were worth attention and time spent. Overall well organised. Only the museum shop didn't make me wish to buy anything.
