The 21 Best Things to Do in Helsinki (Updated 2025)

"Dating to the 18th century as a private Russian garden and opened to the public in the 1960s, this small park is a popular spot for picnics, relaxing, events and winter sledding; there are lots of nearby cafés so it’s an ideal place to grab a snack and lounge while watching the day go by, and it’s especially popular with locals in summer." - Matthew Kepnes

How to Spend 3 Days in Helsinki: A Suggested Itinerary for 2025

"Right near the Sinebrychoff Museum, I found this to be a pleasant little residential park — a good spot to relax, grab a snack from nearby coffee shops, have a picnic, people-watch, and enjoy summertime events." - Matthew Kepnes

What a beautiful park. We passed through the park on our way to dinner, early evening, the sun was just going down and all of the locals were sitting on the top of the hill taking in the last bit of sunshine for the day, it was lovely! A well-maintained piece of green in central Helsinki, it was perfect!

There was a skateboard competition, really fun and very good vibes. Park itself is big with some old tower and it looks really nice. Also, there is a place where you can see the sea from the park, that is cool.

Small but beautiful, especially during Autumn. Stunning Colors. You certainly would like to take a walk in this park.

Small park full of young people in the summer. Evening sun is a plus, automatic irrogation starting 10 pm is a minus. 😅

When you visit Helsinki, you might stay at one of the hotels or Airbnbs near this park. You may not expect to find such a place within walking distance from your room. Look closely for one of the many entrances that might seem like private property. Just walk in and enjoy moments of quiet and peace in the middle of the city.

Great park for sunshine, drinks and picnicking. Just beware, the sprinklers go off at 11 pm every night.

Väistäkäää!! Do yourself a favor and keep an eye out for Koffin Vauhti Kisat, a downhill race held each summer that attracts many thousand people from all over the world. You shan’t be disappointed!
