On the Grid : Sing Hon Loong Bakery

"Ask any local and they will remember these traditional bakeries from their childhood. 50 years on, Sing Hon Long Bakery still holds steadfast to prepping bread the way they always have. Pick off the rows and rows of freshly baked bread and choose the spread to go within. The staff will then expertly carve off the crust before slicing the bread and generously adding kaya, butter or peanut butter. Although these soft pillowy loaves do not get the same fanfare as kaya toast, they most certainly are a well-loved part of the Singaporean palette!" - OuterEdit

Love and support our heritage is what we always do. This is one of the oldest humble, our proudest local traditional bakery. Run by a dedicated family. Everytime we walk past, we would linger and admire the old school shopfront, inhale the fragrance of traditional bread. Our favourite is the curry bun at only $1.30, french loaf & traditional bread. Their curry bun was so famous and snatched up really fast. It's very big, 用料好 and very fresh. Support our local bakery!! We will be back!! 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋

Bakery banking on its old school vibe. Bought the 6 pieces red bean and coconut bread. Fillings were very little. Bread taste normal. Would rather they charge more for a more satisfying experience instead of skimping on ingredients. Really wanted to love this place and saved it for a while. Maybe the people would like the pure white loaf bread instead. What a pity.

Just bought the plain bread yesterday. It’s our long time favourite BUT when we bought it yesterday, we were so disappointed with the quality! It’s light and dry! Really very disappointed! Take note of the texture of the bread in the picture. The spread was not by them.

Old school bread shop with friendly staff! Got the plain bread and asked the auntie to do a peanut butter combi for us.

Got a loaf of white bread and a vanilla bun from this shop. Love the old school vibe! The white bread was fragrant and soft just the day after I bought it! The next day, it was a tad drier but it's probably because it's 2 days after it was baked and it is the consume by date :) Would definitely get it again if i'm in the area!

It attract with sweet bread baking smell. I tried coconut bun & curry bread. Bread is quite heavy & filling a lot as well. Not like bakery chain; hollow & too much air. Curry bread is nice too; lots of potato. I prefer stronger curry like puff. $2.7 & 1.3 for this pricey era is very good deal. Taste ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ $ for portion ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The old school bakery offers array of sweet loaves and buns. Reasonabily priced. The selection includes curry buns, coconut buns, red bean buns, vanilla buns with a creamy filling and classic plain buns and loaves. It brings back memories of my grandparents who often buy this kind of bread. Also, the shop offers loaves with your choice of spread (peanut butter, jam, butter, etc.), and they will butter them for you.

Nothing special here, they "sold out" on rainbow bread despite being there very early in the morning. The margarine spread in the bread tasted weird, and I wouldn't buy it again. Very little fillings in their red bean bun.
