"Playing in the sand There are a few countries in the world where the ocean encroaches deep into the heart of the desert: Qatar is one of them. There only 30 singing sand dunes sites in the world and Qatar has one of them. The combination of these two unique features makes a desert safari in Qatar an unforgettable experience. Several companies offer 4x4 desert safaris which include everything from the thrill of dune bashing—the drivers go up and down giant dunes—to stops at Bedouin tents for dates and tea, full BBQ dinners at campsites, overnight camping, camel rides, and shisha stops, among others. Singing sand dunes, also called booming sand dunes, are rare dunes of sand that emit an audible acoustic reverberation when the actual grains are disturbed or moved. Luckily, catching the singing dunes doesn’t require a tour company. It requires the right combination of sand particle size, temperature and humidity for sand dunes to “sing” and some sand-boarding down the dune to create an avalanche. The bigger avalanche the louder the sound is."

Serene, less populated, hidden gem. Perfect location for some music, campfire and barbecue. There are many dunes all around the area

Awesome place, less rush. Good for an outing with kids, not very far from the corniche (30 min drive).

This location is like a dream ! near a very steep sand dune , so beautiful This location is amazing. The sand dunes are quiet high. Approx. 45 meters in height. The best time to get here is late afternoon just before sunset. A 4x4 is mandatory when driving off-road.

Pretty nice chill place. Somehow i can't hear any "singing".. I guess i need to slide down to hear it? Too bad it's a lot of trash around. Even at the top of the dune.

This is a very beautiful place to see in qatar. Around 40 KMs drive from centre of doha needs 40 to 45 minutes to reach. Very fresh air breathable, camels crossing zones (drivers to be cared), beautiful sand dunes (multiple numbers of big and small sand dunes in size..) Experienced drivers are doing climbing by their 4×4 cars with necessary pre setting and arrangements... Good to go with family and kids... Better to visit by 4×4 car as small distance is OFF road...But sedan cars also can go Washroom facility is not there Suggested to go before 2 hours from the sunset and leave after sunset with sufficient water bottles and juices bottles carrying I had a great opportunity to go there with my kids yesterday for participating in the CLEANUP event conducted by DEAP (Doha Environmental Action Project). There are 200 volunteers (individuals and private groups) with Balidiyaa Helpers and Staffs along with DEAP staffs from 3.30 PM to 5.30 PM...By one hour around 600 kg garbage collected (maximum plastic bottles) It was a great achievement and feel proud as part of this event with others and make awareness to my kids about environmental cleaning Anybody wants to partipate these kind of events like desert cleaning, beaches cleaning with DEAP, please do follow instagram and Facebook pages of DEAP Thanks to DEAP introducing this place and more in future
