This free national park is absolutely worth a visit! The views are stunning and perfect for anyone who loves nature and scenic landscapes. There's also a visitor center on-site that sells souvenirs — a nice touch if you want to bring something home or support the park. Considering it’s free to enter, this place is definitely a hidden gem. Whether you're just passing through or planning a longer stop, it's a great spot to soak in some beautiful scenery and enjoy a peaceful break.

The canyon is easily accessible by a paved road ,it's an easy walk around the creek with a spectacular viewing spot where you can observe pretty big trout fish swimming around the creek.

Cute little visitor center with ferrets, snakes, and a fun interactive topographical map. Fun information about the sinks! How do they warm up?!? Beautiful hikes and could definitely spend more time here.

Staying nearby for a month. So we visited today to see what we could do here. Did one little hike. It was stunning. The views are amazing. We are from the east coast so this is a little different for us. I'm a waterfall girl through and through so I can't wait to do that hike. We also went to the visitor center and saw the sinks. Amazing. So many pretty wildflowers here and all the sage. A dream. We can break this up into a few days. Lots to do.

We stopped by for 2 hours to wander. Beautiful scenery, water rapids, especially nice, informative plaques and information center.

Water was up, so it was beautiful. Very short but pretty walk behind Visitors Center. The road "ends" at the trailhead to the big falls. Road was closed right past the entrance. If you aren't used to altitude it is kind of a difficult hike -but worth it! Take lots of water! We want to go again and take a lunch!

An amazing little national park. Great fishing up above the switchbacks at the lakes. The park is absolutely gorgeous but it's quite small. The sinks and the rise are absolutely beautiful. Fun interpretive center at the sinks. Looks like some amazing hikinh around the area although I wasn't able to get my boots on the ground. Definitely a great place to spend an afternoon.

Yelp
We stopped in Lander, Wyoming for a few days, so we decided to check out the Sinks Canyon State Park. Good decision! Sinks Canyon is so named because of a rushing river that flows out of the mountains and through the canyon. Halfway down, the river turns (sinks) into a cavern and runs underground for 1/4 mile where it emerges in a pool called "The Rise". In the Rise there are Rainbow and Brown trout; the larger ones may weigh up to 12 lbs, but NO FISHING! For a quarter you can buy fish food to feed the fish, which is fun for everyone. A must-do if you are in the area! Also check out the Visitor Center. It is small, but is one of the best I've seen, and I've seen many. The wildlife is well displayed; and I loved the wildflower displays. The geologic rocks outside the visitor center are also A+. Well done, absolutely 5 stars.

Yelp
I went there because my family has a picture of the Sink taken by my great grand father AT Scott, I think, for the Wind River Mountaineer circa 1900-1910. The Sink Overlook lets you stand in the same spot and take the same picture 110 years later. The walk down to the Sink is not for the faint of heart. The lower half of the trail is narrow, the rocks are slippery, and you need to avoid animal scat. It is worth the climb. I took a number of photos including one looking up to the people standing at the overlook. You need people in a few of the pictures just to convey the size of the Sink where the river disappears underground. Next we visited the Rise where the water from the Sink returns to the surface. The Rise starts at a pond created by sand washed up as the water travels underground. The pond is filled with Brown and Rainbow Trout trapped there by the underground river. The trout range in size from little 6" fish to 8-10 pounders. You can buy fish food and toss it to the fish. The feeding frenzy causes the water to boil. I would go back just to admire 10 pound Rainbow Trout.

Yelp
Best camping spots! Close to the River, Rock Climbing and popular trails. The Yurts are great for larger groups like Family get togethers. Close enough to town to get supplies and yet into the edge of the Wind River Mountains.
