Sint-Carolus Borromeuskerk

We attended a wedding here on Saturday and it was absolutely beautiful. The church was gorgeous and lots of incredible artwork. Church bells rang and sun shone through for wonderful lighting and sound. The organist was phenomenal and the music 🎶 was stunning to hear.

A beautiful Jesuit church with much history and beauty! Genuine Rubens artwork and designs, gorgeous woodwork throughout and the original marble floor from the 1600’s. The painting at the altar is changed 4 times a year. Quite unusual and is still done to this day. We were fortunate to be there (2 pm on Sat) when a guide was available for a tour of the church. She was excellent gave such a good insight into the artwork and history of the church. The tour was included with admission and was about 45 min long. We have no problem whatsoever paying to enter a church. The money goes toward upkeep.

A truly beautiful Baroque church. The entrance price is well worth it. There are many beautiful paintings, including a Rubens. The woodwork is also amazing.

Baroque church located in the heart of Antwerp. There’s a €3 entrance fee though that gives you access to the church and the museum. They also have a lace museum but it’s only open on Wednesdays.

Great place to visit. A 17th-century church with ornate Baroque works of art and architecture and four altar paintings replaced each season. Around you can find many nice restaurants

An amazing and unique baroque church in Antwerp, with some Rubens paintings worth of a visit. The church hosts as well a museum and workshop of artistic laces. The access is included in the Antwerp City Pass. Recommended

Very beautiful church in Antwerp with a rich history. Absolutely worth a visit.

The interior with its running balcony set back windows is very unique. The baroque alter full of gold is quite a centerpiece.

What an awe-inspiring church. The altar itself is something to marvel at alone. St. Carolus Borromeus kerk (church) seems to have had several incidents with fire and the elements which stole 39 irreplaceable ceiling paintings, however the ceiling painting toward the altar was spared and gives a glimpse of what once was. The altar alone could be studied for hours. It's ornate and finely detailed with baroque artwork and architecture that is common to a lot of Belgium's churches and buildings. The painting at the altar also is capable of being changed using the original mechanism set in place. St. Carolus is hard to miss if you walk up onto it as the outside of the church is very ornate, as well, utilizing the gold embellishments and certainly a nice stop to study art history and architecture. The inside of this church has been one of my more favorite to have visited thus far. When we visited, the church interior was under construction which seems to be a trend for a lot of churches and cathedrals in the area, but it was nice to just get out of the cold rain and look at beautiful architecture.
