"During the wave of faux-Polynesian pop in the 1960s, any city worth its salt had to have a tiki bar. Great Falls, Montana was no exception. Never mind the fact that it was nowhere near the tropics. Never mind the fact that the only body of water nearby was the Missouri River. Never mind the fact that it was too cold to swim for most of the year. The people of Montana wanted a tiki bar and they wanted it pronto. So in 1962, the proprietors of the O’Haire Motor Inn opened the Sip ‘n Dip Lounge as part of their motel. It was loved by visitors and locals alike, and as such, is one of the few surviving tiki bars to survive into the 21st century. The Sip ‘n Dip’s primary claim to fame is its view of the indoor pool. Until 1995, the giant glass panes behind the bar allowed patrons to gaze upon the cool blue waters and the occasional swimmer. Nice enough, but at a New Year’s Eve party the owner stepped it up a notch by having live mermaids swim in the pool. They’ve been a fixture ever since, as well as a handful of mermen. The Sip ‘n Dip Lounge is still going strong after 50+ years, though not a lot has changed. The South Seas atmosphere and drinks menu are mostly the same. Even the in-house musician is the same one that played in 1963 (“Piano Pat”, still jazzy in her 80s). In addition to mermaids in the pool,  you may also see hotel guests swimming around. Sip ‘n Dip regulars report the occasional skinny dipper, despite the motel’s warnings. Update: Sadly, Piano Pat passed away in 2021 Know Before You Go -Park anywhere in downtown - Great Falls is easily walkable." - Obscurities, gerrimorris, jerrywatkins09, Molly McBride Jacobson, biodieselbarry

This has to be one of the best kept secrets of GF! Was out with a couple of coworkers. They wanted some drinks, and I brought them here. They LOVED it! Such a kitschy bar! Tiki themed drinks and decor. The highlight, MERMAIDS!!! It was such a fun time!

This is one of those places you have to see at least once in your life. It's a tiki bar lounge that harkens back to the 1950's/60's when that was popular. They still offer a selection of "fish bowl" run drinks that you *should* share. Otherwise, it's a full bar and they'll make whatever drink you want. The highlight of course, is the mermaids! Where else can you drink and have a good time and watch a mermaid swim? It's like no where else, that much I can tell you! Go see it for yourself!

This bar was actually really cool. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing when me and my friends visited. We all got some drinks and watched the mermaid swim around for a while. It was entertaining to see this in the middle of Montana. She was funny while she was swimming around. She kept trying to make us laugh and it just made for a great time. We ate the platter of wings and my only gripe is when they put the vegetable on the platter they are full of water so all the wings at the middle/bottom of the platter are soaked in water. If you get this, ask for vegetables on the side and you'll have a good time and get your belly full.

While the food and drinks we got were pretty good. I thought it was weird that the server made us pay prior to getting our food. She stated that there has been a dining and dashing problem here and she just wanted to make sure we weren’t going to be a problem. I thought it was weird but didn’t think too much into it, until I saw that other customers weren’t being told to do the same. (For reference I was the only black person in that place and my partner is white) so I’m not sure if that’s why we had to pay prior to getting our food or what. I didn’t want to ask but it seemed really weird. The place was still really cool and the guy preforming could really sing! But I was not a fan of our server, Kacee.

Mermaid bar in Montana?!!! This is a great little spot to take in. This tiki bar is a blast from the past. This is apart of a hotel from the 1960. You can get tasty cocktails from fish bowls to buckets o booze. You can get food all time of the day from the restaurant below. Enjoy the mermaids swimming around, we got live entertainment when we were there. Staff were amazing and quick to help. Thanks and will be back soon

This place was so awesome! Great little hideaway spot to relax, get an awesome drink, and grab a quick bite or a man size meal. Live music on Saturdays and live “Mermaids” every day at 6pm. I only gave service 3stars because you really have to yell to get the drink concierge’s attention if you want another awesome drink! It was a lot of people stacked in there but also want to get there at a decent time bc you want good seating. Not much of a wait on food but definitely worth every penny. The Blu cheese steak bites with a balsamic vinaigrette-Whew! Life changing!

Don’t let the outside fool you—it actually IS 1960 inside. Great service, unique drinks, just a cool vibe overall.
