"Occupying an 1895 red-brick factory in Amsterdam’s stylish and formerly working-class De Pijp neighborhood, this member of Marriott’s Design Hotels continues to sparkle like the diamonds it once produced. Unlike many post-industrial revamps, there’s very little sign of the original factory here—and that’s a good thing. Interior designers Alon Baranowitz and Irene Kronenberg have upped the warmth factor with a palette that skews toward tobacco browns and burnt siennas, with textures like leather and cowhide and statement pieces from Dutch furniture-design superstars like Piet Hein Eek and Joy van Erven. Depending on the category you choose, your room might come with a freestanding Philippe Starck bathtub, a customizable pillow menu, signature robe and slippers, or even a “goody box” with locally sourced treats. Outside, muralist Adele Renault has covered the canalside wall of the building with a multi-story gray heron, a feathered Amsterdam resident who is showing up in increasing numbers in these waterways and can now often be found strolling through the nearby Albert Cuyp Market." - CNT Editors

"Who is Sir Albert? This issue might perplex the uninitiated because the hotel and its staff insist that the mysterious aristocrat transformed his private mansion into a collection of sleek and fashionable pieds-à-terre for the international cognoscenti who come to Amsterdam . In reality, the 19th-century red-brick building was once a diamond factory, built to be so sturdy that the trams wouldn’t shake it, and, while that rich history is reflected in some of the angular and clean-lined decor, it’s more fun to imagine that a wealthy eccentric has designed the stylish and spacious rooms and left you in the hands of a staff used to realizing whims before they’re even imagined. The rooms themselves are indulgent in a minimalist way, with dashes of both Japanese modernism and midcentury Scandinavian design in the black wooden floors, oversized white soaking tubs, and all the latest technology; clearly, Sir Albert is well traveled. He also must have a taste for authentic Japanese cuisine, considering the house restaurant is inspired by traditional Japanese pubs and attracts discerning foodies and hip young locals alike. He clearly travels in trendy circles, considering his house’s location in lively De Pijp; his appreciation for art, too, is evident in the proximity to the Museumplein."
We had a great stay at this hotel! The room was very comfortable, clean, and neat, with lots of windows that let in plenty of natural light — which we loved. The bedding was especially cozy and super comfortable. While the reception area looked a bit dated and could use a refresh, it didn’t affect our experience at all. Overall, a lovely place to stay and would definitely recommend!

The bed is hands-down the most comfortable I've ever slept in. I had a wonderful, deep full rest and did not want to get out from under the covers in the morning. The Deluxe double bed room was a great size for a one-night stay (and would be fine for a few days more), decorated stylishly, very quiet, and had everything we needed. The Boutique double bed room was a bit cramped but standard for European hotels and completely adequate for a short stay. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I really enjoyed this small hotel and it's quirky personality in a quiet, yet charming neighborhood. The location was perfect- close to efficient transportation and within walking distance along the canal to museums, restaurants, shopping and the market. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay! Great location, very clean, and super nice team. We were also able to rent bikes here. The hotel gym situation is interesting - they partner with a personal trainer space just a few doors down so as a result you have to reserve a time at the gym. But there’s plenty of availability time-wise (I’d just recommend asking the day before) and, as a result of this set-up, it’s way better equipped than a normal hotel gym. If we come back to Amsterdam, we’d definitely stay here again!

This hotel is in a perfect location and the rooms are well appointed and spacious. You can easily walk to the museums and Vondelpark and the Albert Cuypstraat market is right out the front door! De Pijp has tons or restaurants to choose from or you can hop on the metro or tram to other areas. The rooms were quiet and it was nice to be away from the busier area of town. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam!

Not a hotel to be recommended. Days before travelling they send you emails inviting you for a room upgrade for a price, a flowers’ bouquet welcoming you or including breakfast. All them at a reasonable price so I took them all. When I got there, the expected quiet room with balcony was not the assigned room but rather a noisy first floor one and there was no sight of the flowers.
Only after complaining, it was resolved, which means they have little care or supervision of what their customers get for what they pay.
We woke up early, and we enjoyed the prepaid breakfast (not a great choice of options but fair enough) and we hanged the sign to make up the room. When we were back, at around 16:00, the room was still untidy. Certainly we complaint again and in less than 2 hours!!! It was ready to use again. We got excuses from staff saying that they priorise rooms for new entries and leave the ones for existing clients for the evening.
All in all not proper for a 4-stars hotel at 400€ the night.
Not my next option in Amsterdam.

Checking in was a bit interesting. We saw people get offered champagne and Suggest where to go and/or what to do while you wait for your room.
We were just checked in. Pretty basic and unfortunate while you're hearing other guests receive excellent customer service. We came in with smiles and tired from our travels.
Bar and restaurant connected to the hotel is delicious and great staff! Bartenders made yummy drinks. Food is pretty tasty.

We had a wonderful first stay at the Sir Albert and will definitely be back.
The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of De Pijp, and an easy stroll to the Market and local restaurants. You can also access the "9 Streets" with an easy 15 minute walk.
The service was excellent. With the staff even moving things around to afford us an extra night at short notice following a Eurostar cancellation - that's a whole other story!!!
The hotel was just quirky enough to feel boutique but not so much so that it was over the top. The bed was comfortable and the shower, excellent.
If I had one point of feedback it would be that the A/C was fairly ineffective - in room 218 at least. With the corridor outside cooler than our room. This would have been a 5 star review if not for the A/C
We loved Amsterdam and will definitely be back regularly - and when we visit, we'll look to book the Sir Albert.

This hotel is located in a superbly convenient location and staff were super helpful. The room we were assigned was small (we are used to North America standards😂) but it had access to a balcony and the shower was amazing!!! Would recommend highly!

Yelp
Excellent location that is not by the central train station. Walking distance to museums, concert hall and the Heineken brewery. The subway station is also 5 minutes walk so you can pretty much go anywhere instead of Uber or bicycle. The neighborhood has offers many restaurants at various price points.
The room is on the small size and the furniture could need some updating.

Yelp
We loved our stay at this hotel. Each person we interacted with here was friendly, courteous, and helpful. Our room was small, but beautiful, and had everything we really needed. Loved the vibe of this hotel, with a very busy restaurant and bar right in the hotel. Though we didn't dine there, it was good to have that option. This hotel was a very easy walk from the subway station. We could walk to museums and neighborhoods. We would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
When visiting Amsterdam the Sir Albert Hotel is a perfect choice. It was a quick train ride from the airport, and only a 4 minute walk from the station. Upon exiting the train you are quickly immersed in the charm of Amsterdam.
Hotel checkin was a pleasure, Nina who not only was very welcoming, even walked us to the elevator. Our room was modern and had unique ceilings with several windows allowing natural light and city views.
The hotel is located in a great location, right next to the canals. They have bikes to get around and it's a quick walk or ride to sites. It's also just down the street from a famous Amsterdam market, Albert Cuyp Market. You can find many Stroopwafel vendors (a delicious Dutch cookie that looks like a small waffle).
Other things to note, they have an elevator, AC works well and their toiletries smell beautiful.
Enjoy your stay in this beautiful hotel and city.

Yelp
We stayed at the Sir Albert hotel for one evening during the week. I will try and give the pros and cons of the hotel.
Pros:
Great neighborhood. Very convenient to the metro and hundreds of restaurants and a very cool street market down the street. also very close to a lot of museums that you may want to visit. Very accessible location. Staff was willing to hold our bags until the room was ready. You get a welcome drink, although it was a lukewarm beer. Another pro is at the beds are very comfortable.
Cons:
This hotel tries a little too hard to be too hip. Almost everything is black. People with balance issues, depth perception issues, and mobility issues will have a hard time navigating the black on black decor. The flooring is not always even entering the elevator, and in other areas of the hotel. Inside the room, there are absolutely no USB outlets. Foreign visitors be forewarned that you will need a converter plug in addition to whatever your devices plug into. The lights in the room are completely impractical. The lights outside of the shower and toilets are somehow controlled by switches near the bed. Mostly they just flash on and then quickly off when you push them. Incredibly frustrating and we had a hard time keeping the lights on. The bathroom and toilets have black doors with imperceptible knobs to open it. The shower in the room we were in is completely enclosed with no ventilation, no windows, and nowhere to hang a towel or clothes. Another issue we had was the staff tried to desperately get us into their restaurant. They claim you will pay the same price elsewhere but we found literally hundreds of really great ethnic places to eat right outside the door at a fraction of the cost. It is definitely worth exploring the neighborhood.
Marriott rewards members: be aware that this is simply a partner hotel and you get zero benefits for being elite member. You may get a few points, but there is no lounge, no free breakfast, and no other perks that usually come along with being an elite member. The breakfast is €25 and if you book the night before they give you a whopping €3 discount.
I would not recommend this hotel, and I would not stay here again. I think there are better places to stay for the money/points. That will give you a much better experience overall.

Yelp
Super hip hotel in the De Pjip neighborhood. My husband and I absolutely loved our stay here. The hotel hospitality team was top notch. Everyone we spoke to was knowledgeable and willing to give tips on what to do/see/drink. They also have bikes you can check out for the day. It's a great way to see the city. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone exploring Amsterdam. I hope to stay here again sometime.

Yelp
Great hotel with super friendly staff. They graciously held our luggage both when our room wasn't ready yet, and when we wanted to explore Amsterdam a little longer on check-out day. True, the room was EXTREMELY small, but all you need it for is to crash at night. Go explore the city!
Rainfall shower was perfect, bed was super comfy, and street was not very noisy at night. PERFECT location for all of the amazing art museums. Also, if you want to skip a long or expensive breakfast, there is a convenient grocery store (Albert Heijn) located right next to the van Gogh museum.

Yelp
Charming, bold and comfortable.
We stayed for two nights on our first stop of our honeymoon. I generally love the style in Amsterdam but especially the design in Sir Albert. In the study, many books on art and design are displayed proudly.
From reception to the study to the rooms: flawless execution of minimalism, contrast and warmth.
We found ourselves situated in the center of all our must see locations, the museum district, the Anne Frank House and great restaurants.
The rooms make great use of space and I love an exposed bathtub set it in the bedroom.
Didn't get the chance to enjoy their breakfast, buffet is never a great deal for me especially in the morning, however it looked great. Enjoyed the corner cafe in the area for great coffee, breakfast and acai bowls.

Yelp
Found this place just by looking for a fancy hotel to stay in for 2 nights while visiting amsterdam. Don't let maps fool you everything is still very close to the city centre and its easy to walk. I originally thought this was far from things when first arriving but learnt it wasnt, and walking is the best way to discover things.
Our check in was 3 but we arrived about 10:30, they were happy to check us in and take bags and advised when the room would be availiable. They even got us free coffee, i don't think they could of done more to make us feel welcome. Even when we went to the nearby heineken experience they offered us prossecco on our arival back.
The rooms were fantastic, Toilet facilities were great and an awesome shower. Bed was comfortable and they gave us a fantastic room with the biggest balcony just because they were great.
Would definitely come back!! Thanks everyone at the Sir Albert

Yelp
This hotel was FABULOUS! From the time we stepped foot on the premises until the time we left, the staff was accommodating, friendly, and helpful. The ambiance was elegant, warm, and regal. When we arrived we were greeted with a glass of champagne and sparkling water. While I don't drink, I found this to be a touch of class.
The room was beautiful with great art and decor. The television in the room had a classic picture of a royal car with our name on the screen. The room had rich tones and hues. The hotel had good wi fi service and needed necessities such as shampoo, conditioner, slippers, etc.
The hotel is located in a quiet area of the city. I truly enjoyed my stay here and would return here to stay if in Amsterdam.

Yelp
I've stayed in hotels all over the world. This is by far the WORST hotel ever. The staff here are super rude. Worst customer service ever. Do not stay here...However, the restaurant IZAKAYA that is awesome!!!!
John W.
Yelp
This is a nice European style boutique hotel recently renovated in a modern and nicely understated style. In a nice neighborhood, convenient to the museums but far enough from the super touristy areas to be quiet. Comfortable rooms, not too small. Great bed and nice rainfall shower. Good Asian fusion restaurant on premises. Hotel bikes available if you want to tour around faster than walking speed. The highlight is the staff who were super friendly and helpful at every turn.
If you're new to Amsterdam just so you won't be startled as i was, if you turn left out the doors and walk south along the canal in the evenings there are a handful of red light ladies displaying their wares on the same block.

Yelp
Nice hotel in a great location. A Popular restaurant downstairs. Nice lobby and really friendly staff that went out of the way to make us feel comfortable while waiting for our room. Offered prosecco and water. Surprising how quiet the room is for all of the street activity. Was able to buy tickets to attractions right from the hotel desk. Bathroom was nice and bed comfortable. My only complaint is the coffee-maker was difficult to work. I had to keep holding the button to get it to brew.

Yelp
Our first trip to Amsterdam and our first experience with the hotel. My major issue was the placement of the WC and shower in the bedroom space. It was a small room made smaller with the intrusion of the WC and shower. There is no proper bathroom, so there is minimal privacy. No dresser is provided,, so clothes can only be stored on two shelves. What should be a bedside table is cluttered with a coffee maker, minibar food in a basket, and over size magazines. Interior hallways and elevator were dimly lit. Our room was not ready when we arrived, or for several hours after. The website photos do not present the space in the room. That's the basis for the 3 star rating. Staff was friendly and helpful. A very good location as up the block is a daily market worth a walk through. About a 10 minute walk to the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museums.

Yelp
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Great location! The bedding was amazing. Most comfortable , I could sleep for days.
The restaurant is quite pricey for drinks. I didn't have the sushi, thought that was overpriced.
The staff were wonderful! I definitely recommend this hotel for a stay while in Amsterdam.

Yelp
The Sir Albert hotel has modest rooms set in a modern decor with a twist of safari. Comfortable beds, great pillows, lovely room coffee and space to spread your toiletries. Don't want to travel with shampoo? They provide a lovely high end brand in refillable pumps so there's plenty on hand.
The elevator is small but quaint and there are a couple of stairs to navigate but the friendly staff with help you.
Breakfast is amazing and so is the food! A++ try everything here, you won't be disappointed.
Here here! Well done Sir Albert!

Yelp
This hotel is awesome!
We were greeted by the lovely front desk staff with glasses of prosseco. That's basically all it takes to please me. Just give me alcohol and I will be happy.
The room itself was rad and very modern. Everything was controlled by buttons and the layout of the room was awesome.
There are separate stalls for the shower and toilet and that was cool. The shower was huge and had a rain fall shower heads which is always lovely.
The bed, oh the bed. The bed was SUPER comfortable and big. I woke up lost within the sheets and pillows and it was fantastic.
I also enjoyed being called "lady" by the TV.
All in all, staying here was an extremely pleasant experience. I wish I were still there, lost in that bed.

Yelp
The folks who work here are friendly and helpful. The rooms are cozy bit a bit too small for my taste. The toilet was surrounded by very close walls. The stand-up shower was also closed in very tightly. I wouldn't suggest this hotel for anyone with claustrophobia. The hotel entrance is connected to Izakaya which I found very convenient. They offerr room service too! The elevators are small and slow however the stairs are nearby. Overall I think it would be the really good customer service that would get me back here.

Yelp
We had such a lovely stay at Sir Albert. The staff here are exceptionally efficient and always so friendly and helpful. We immediately felt at home and relaxed.
The hotel is immaculate and beautifully designed. Located in a very nice area away from all the tourist traps. Cute shops all around the Pijp area.
I wouldn't even consider staying at another hotel when coming back to Amsterdam.
This was by far the best hotel of our entire holiday !!

Yelp
Well designed and nicely located hotel. Rooms are fairly small. Staff at the reception is very helpful. In the hotel restaurant they are nice but somehow slow and tend to forget one or the other thing on the way. Biggest negative point was the extremely noisy sunday party in the restaurant. No chance to sleep or relax and no information that this was going to happen. Quite disappointing guest treatment!

Yelp
I usually stay in Airbnbs but this hotel was nice. The room was on the smaller side-not really a place to put a suitcase (no luggage rack) but there is a closet. The shower has excellent acoustics if you like to sing in the shower!!! The toilet has its own space and since it is in the entryway to the room, that is good. I was expecting a package on a Monday and when I called Wednesday, they had not received it but said they were on the lookout. I checked out Thursday and was in a rush since I had hidden my passport form myself, so I forgot to ask them if they received my package when I checked out. I called them from the airport and it was exactly one hour since I left there. They said they received it in that one hour timeframe and sent it back! This cost my friend that sent it from Paris a lot of money. I wish they would have called me so I could have had a friend pick it up since I would be back in Amsterdam two weeks later. I had a hard time believing that it showed up exactly in that one hour. But anyway, informing me since I had called the night before seems like the right thing to do. I always feel like having things shipped to hotels is a challenge and this place was no different. The restaurant in the hotel is absolutely delicious. Pricey Asian/Peruvian fusion but I was drooling over every small plate I had so that was good!

Yelp
Had a great (short) weekend stay on the way back from a German business trip. The accommodations were very good and the staff was great. The hotel is typical boutique and they do a very nice job with it. I like the location - close and far enough away at the same time. I walked 90% of my time...which included 30-40 mins walks to the main attractions.

Yelp
I just stayed here during a business trip and couldn't have been happier with the hotel. European hotel rooms tend to be small and cramped. Not here. The room was a good size and the bed was probably one of the best I've ever slept in. Sir Albert's staff are kind, accommodating, and will help you with whatever you need. I highly recommend this hotel.

Yelp
I honestly don't know why this hotel is getting good reviews. I stayed there for 3 days on a business trip and will never stay there again. One of the major reasons I booked it was that it was advertised as having an in room massage. I always have back and neck problems so I was really looking forward to staying there so I could get a massage. However, when we were checking in we were informed that they don't offer this service and there is a spa that's a 15 minute walk and when we tried to book it it took the woman who was checking us in 10 minutes to figure out that the spa was closed on Mondays (shouldn't they just memorize that kind of information??).
Rooms are very small, even by European standards, they only offer single beds for double rooms so even though the bed itself was comfortable it was too small. Heat wasn't working - we had to call reception every night to get them to turn it on and every night they reassured me that they will program the setting so that I wouldn't have to call every night they never did.
On our last night we came back to the room after a long day at work only to find out that our room was not even cleaned - we had to go to reception to get clean towels and they didn't even offer an apology.
Staff seems to be nice and I am sure they mean well, but they just seem to be so clueless about everything - everything they do is just inefficient. We tried to book train tickets to Eindhoven one night and after waiting for 15 minutes the reception guy informed us that actually he cannot book it because it requires a Dutch credit card and we have to buy tickets at the train station. Why didn't he have that information? I am sure we were not the first foreigners ever to try and book train tickets!!!
Wifi in our room was just terrible and since it was a business trip it meant that replying to client's emails or getting any other computer work done was a nightmare.
This was a very disappointing hotel stay. I hope they can improve this.

Yelp
This new boutique hotel in a former diamond factory is a designer's delight, from the book-lined study with the island fireplace in the lobby to the wood-floored and black-slate rooms above, with a host of other creative touches. If you can afford the suite, splash out for the Philippe Starck bathtub that sits out in the open under the loft-style windows in your room. Super amenities include your own iPad on a charger, a Geneva iPod dock and an Illy espresso machine. The IZAKAYA Asian Kitchen & Bar serves a really great European buffet breakfast before it becomes one of the neighbourhood hotspots at night. My pillow-top bed with Egyptian cotton linens was so comfy I opted to stay in it all morning one day instead of venturing out into the rain. This hotel is just that kind of place; such an experience you don't feel the usual traveller's pull to leave.

Yelp
One of the best hotels I've stayed in so far. Great staff, great location, impeccable rooms. I'd also really go for the upgrade to the deluxe room, it's definitely worth the price!

Yelp
Something fishy is going on with the reviews of this hotel I posted my reviews both on TripAdvisor and Booking.com, I have given it ample time and it still is not showing. I saw really negative reviews on TripAdvisor a while back on this hotel and all of a sudden no more complaints. Are the bad reviews being ignored or deleted like mine? I found another customer of this hotel who also had a negative experience and even though he posted the review on Booking.com I also can't find it. I want to tell people the honest truth about this place it is pretentious and they treat most customers lesser than. It is not cheap and all through out there will be odd things happening such as having wake up alarms really early when you didn't want them, or early room service when you didn't request it. The housekeeping never has a set time so they will come whenever they want or not come at all unless you beg the front desk to have someone to please clean your room as if it was a "favor".
