Where to Stay in Prague (Updated 2025)

"A two-decade-old Holešovice hostel, Sir Toby's offers dorms and private rooms, an attached pub that can get raucous, regular events (trivia, cooking classes) and plenty of board games and books in the common area — a fun, social base for exploring the art district." - Matthew Kepnes

The 10 Best Hostels in Prague (Updated 2025)

"Located in the laid-back Holešovice neighborhood outside the city center, I recommend Sir Toby’s if you want a more local, chill stay: it’s friendly with super-fluffy pillows, comfortable beds, a guest kitchen, privacy curtains and lockers, and a free walking tour run by the hostel — keep in mind some bunks are three-beds high instead of the standard two." - Matthew Kepnes

Google
Really enjoyed staying here, staff were welcoming, comfortable and sturdy beds especially for triple bunks (some hostels I experienced the beds can be uneven) - great facilities including a garden and common area in basement too. Location is slightly away from centre of city in a nice/quiet residential district, but tram with direct line to centre is only 2 mins walk round the corner. Would definitely say again next time in Prague.

Can't recommend this hostel enough! In a quiet location out of the town centre but with super convenient tram links. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and I really liked that they had a QR code with a list of restaurants/bars/tourist attractions etc. which made planning our days much easier. The food and drinks were great value and the bar and terraces are lovely spaces. The rooms and bathrooms were simple but very clean and comfortable. All in all, would definitely come back if I ever return to Prague!

Lovely friendly and safe feeling to the place. It’s was all clean and the rooms spacious. Communal areas are available so felt very social and the staff were super helpful. Also right near a metro stop. Would recommend and also for sole travellers.

Google
Dormitory rooms of 12 offered the basic essentials at an extortionately low and very good price, though you do have to gamble with potential clean or messy dorm partners. Service was fantastic, with staff being very friendly, both in reception and in bartending in the lounge/bar (Bob). Location wise, as public transport within Prague is very efficient, it offers a fair distance from the city centre (~20 mins).

I had a great time in this hostel. There are a few places to hang out. You have a tram station nearby to go to the city centre or the train station. The room was clean and the bed very comfy.

Had an amazing stay at Sir Toby’s! Met so many great people and the vibe was super friendly. Big thanks to Ravi and Charmi at the desk — they were awesome and made me feel really welcome. Would definitely come back!

I had a great 3 night stay at this hostel. I will break down different elements of my stay. ||Location: Quite far from city centre, would not be ideal to walk to and from daily. However public transport is less than a 2 minute walk from the hostel and super accessible. Ask staff for help regarding public transport and they will guide you. ||Staff: Really pleased with staff. All helpful and friendly and made some conversation. ||Rooms: I stayed in a 6 bed dorm. It is all single beds and there is not much privacy. However the bed was comfortable and I managed to get good nights sleep. There is one bathroom between all in the room. Sockets near the bed which is a plus. ||Social aspect: There is a good bar downstairs in the hostel, during my stay it wasn’t open the first night as it’s only open Thursday - Sunday in quieter periods. This was a great way to meet people.||Things to note: |- shower gel not provided. |- if staying in 6 bed, all single beds.|- there is cooking facilities and places to store food.

Yelp
As soon as I walked in the front door, I was greater by Nunu & Klára, the sweetest people to meet in Prague! The both of them are very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to anything you want to know. Thank you both for such a great and warm experience in Sir Toby's Hostel!

Yelp
Hostels can be tough to rate because everyone has different needs and wants. When my sister and I backpacked through Prague we were excited to check out the city and really delve into the local scene. We found Sir Toby's through some online research and were relieved to read such positive reviews. There's WIFI access, the rooms are clean, the hostel itself is cute and the staff is nice, and we loved the "club" below the hostel that operated as the breakfast room in the AM and a bar/hang out spot for guests in the evenings and at night. More affordable than most other hostels, the downside we found with Sir Toby's was just the location. Not too close to the center of the city, you're stuck needing to cab or take the train places to see the center of the city and the many tourist attractions. It wasn't an expensive or long ride, (make sure to get a week-long pass if you want to take the train for more than just a ride or two. It's the best way to get around!) but as young adults, we were really looking for more noise and activity. Because of the distance from downtown you don't get the ins/outs and hustle and bustle of people coming and going. And because of that, the atmosphere was less social and more quiet. Which is certainly good if you are looking for that! If you want to be somewhere that's walkable to more than some small shops, parks and grocery stores, this may not be the right spot for you. But it's cheap, it's clean and sometimes that's all you need!

Yelp
Alright, I'll start off by saying that, unfortunately, I don't remember any of the staff member's names. From the moment my friends and I walked in we were greeted by a warm and cheerful staff member. She promptly helped us and explained how the hostel works. After having arrived at 6am in Prague and spending the afternoon in the city, it was nice to be greeted by someone so lovely. We stayed in a 12-bed dorm. The walls and floor are wood so it gave the room a very cozy feeling. Aside from the difficulty in getting to the top bunk, I had no complaints for the room. Every bed has a curtain, an outlet, a small cubby, and a large cubby. Although the hostel is not centrally located, the tram which takes you to the metro is no more than a 5 minute walk away. We did some exploring in the neighborhood and found some cool restaurants. And the hostel if fairly close to Cross Club, the neighborhood's alternative dance club. Every night the staff has some sort of planned activity. The night we arrived they served us free crepes. They also had a movie night, a game night, and most importantly they had a free BBQ night on Saturday. That was definitely the best night. Everyone came out of their rooms to talk and eat the wonderful, free food. It was honestly the best hostel experience I've ever had!

Yelp
Richard at the front desk is the man! You just have to accept his airs of always being annoyed, really he's just being funny. I think. He puts on a great walking tour--he studied art history in college and if you're interested he'll go into detail on that. Prague has a very rich architectural history, with a ton of different historical styles all mixing together to make up the city. I would definitely suggest you try and get Richard talking about that. He can also tell you some neat stuff about the Holy Roman Empire/Charlemagne if you have some background on that. Very knowledgeable guy. The room, for the price, was great. It was 4 beds, none bunked, with a pretty huge amount of space for a hostel. Lockboxes under the bed. Window looking outwards, very nice decor in the room in general. Two such rooms shared a shower and toilet, I never had to wait on anyone. The downstairs bar is a great way to meet people. Beer is so cheap, there's no reason to not have a liter or two and make some friends before heading out. There's one big common table, which forces group discussions--I approve. They also had some hostel events like an outdoor barbecue, free pancakes (with nutella and jam yay!) at the bar--perfect with a few beers, a beer tasting (great value for the amount you drink and a great intro to Prague).

Yelp
Had an amazing experience! 6 of my girlfriends and I stayed here for three nights and loved the hostel. The rooms were spacious and clean. The bathrooms are average. Make sure to bring your own soap and shampoo. There were free events such as a bar-b-q.

Yelp
Good and clean hostel. But check-in took 1 (!!!) hour, because Richard (staff member) first had to tell other guests very looooong how everything works. Also he is very rude and always annoyed!

Yelp
Super friendly staff, cool vibe, clean, great breakfast! Close to public transit options that connect you to anywhere in the city that you want to know. I only wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy more of what the hostel had to offer!!
