Sir Toby's Hostel

This place made us realize that booking a hostel room with two beds is actually far more cosy than booking a luah hotel room. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, the managers are very understanding provided everything we asked for. Just one day, even though we didnt put "Do not disturb" sign outside, we didn't get room cleaning, but that's probably because of the christmas season. The bar downstairs is great for young people, and when it's not so crowded it's a great place to relax. They offer some interesting events as well but we didn't have time to participate. Breakfast is cheaper if you decide to buy on the first night of your stay, and is actually great. Public transport is easy and closeby, and there are few interesting places around, which the staff introduces already. Thanks everyone :))

We have stayed the private room, named Balcony. It had private bathroom and 3 beds inside, one double and a balcony. Room was clean and definitely enough. Also they offer some free events, tours, cheap but delicious breakfast, towels, lockers, and a lovely bar at evenings. Bar is not big and generally full of students but it's cute. Our room was a little cold - at December- but they gave us a heater and problem solved! There is a luggage room, a laundry room and I think anything that you can need. The place was also so easy to travel with tram. The staff was incredibly helpful. Just one day we needed to cleaning and didn't put the 'do not disturb' sign, but they didn't clean the room. May be we should specifically asked, because there was a rush because of Christmas season.

I was given a free room upgrade, and one night I was overbooked and they set me up at Sophie's Hostel which was very nice as well. Very accommodating staff. Rooms were fine, very worth for how affordable they are. I found the location very nice for the places I wanted to go, it's a quieter part of the city but fast to get anywhere by bus. Also walking distance to a couple of the cooler and less touristy clubs.

I loved Sir Toby’s, it was super social and a beautiful mc historic place. Breakfast was delicious and the tram rides weren’t too far from everything important. The man at the front desk was quite rude when we got there, as there was a big group that came in at once. He acted clearly annoyed and then mumbled under his breath “I need a break after this one”. Regardless, I didn’t let him ruin the hostel for me because it was a great place.

Location was great. Staff was absolutely terrible. They were rude. Rolled their eyes at me when I asked them nicely if they could refill the hand soap dispenser in my room. And then when I said I forgot my room key in the room when I was checking out, they made me climb up the stairs to get them just for the door to be locked and gave me a dirty look when I told them about the door being locked :( I hope your staff reads this and can become less rude! It costs nothing to be a kind person.

I just booked out: • I was in the 12-person room. It's 4× triple bunks which were surprisingly sturdy and not that loud. Although I wished my bunk was pushed against the wall so that my pillow couldn't fall down into the gap. • The mattress and linen were very comfortable and clean (pillow was very poofy and soft). • The beds each have a curtain but it's short, it only hides your top half and the bedroom light shines onto your bed and into your eyes. • Each bed has it's own reading light and 2 shelves and a big lockable draw which is always nice for my 75L hiking bag. • The room was spacious though and there's a sink with running water with a mirror. Im confused what this is supposed to be used for. I can find a problem with every reason. You can't even fit your flask under the tap to refill. • The dorm has a small table and chair but I think everyone was too nervous to claim some retail space on these. • The room had good heating eventhough it was cold outside. Maybe I came at the wrong time of the year but it was surprisingly quiet! People weren't really conversational which is why I only rate 4 stars. -1 star for lack of atmosphere. I thought that the cosy lounge in the basement bar area would liven up when the bar opens (Wednesday @ 18:30) but it was dead. I think Sir Toby needs a foosball table to connect people. I like that Sir Toby is environmentally conscious. He reminds you to switch lights off, he's double-glazed, and he reuses furniture and doors. (I wish people didn't slam the doors to respect the history and philosophy of the hostel.) The staff were friendly and conversational. They seemed happy to give me enough info or guidance for what I needed. The toilets were cleaned everyday. There's something to do everyday - check the photo "Week Plans". I've only been to the pub on Wednesday. There's a luggage room (Check-in @15:00. Check-out @11:00). There's a kitchen with everything. Penny grocery store is a close walk and there are takeaways around the corner.

The receptionist Ravi is warm and welcoming. He gave me the best deal inspite of not having a reservation. The hostel is located close to the tram stop. The prices are reasonable. Very good place for back packers

Did not like the front desk service - definitely depends on who is working but they are rude as hell. The accommodations are ok but don't look under the bed and on the floor unless you want a bunch of dust in your face. If you are not familiar with how to do laundry in Europe (esp in hostels) I encourage you to avoid them. Especially here. There is only one set for the entire place for guests and the coin system sucks. Also in a non tourist part of town so be prepared for that. Most people speak English but they aren't super friendly and some friends and I did get turned away at bars and restaurants.

As soon as I walked in the front door, I was greater by Nunu & Klára, the sweetest people to meet in Prague! The both of them are very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to anything you want to know. Thank you both for such a great and warm experience in Sir Toby's Hostel!

Hostels can be tough to rate because everyone has different needs and wants. When my sister and I backpacked through Prague we were excited to check out the city and really delve into the local scene. We found Sir Toby's through some online research and were relieved to read such positive reviews. There's WIFI access, the rooms are clean, the hostel itself is cute and the staff is nice, and we loved the "club" below the hostel that operated as the breakfast room in the AM and a bar/hang out spot for guests in the evenings and at night. More affordable than most other hostels, the downside we found with Sir Toby's was just the location. Not too close to the center of the city, you're stuck needing to cab or take the train places to see the center of the city and the many tourist attractions. It wasn't an expensive or long ride, (make sure to get a week-long pass if you want to take the train for more than just a ride or two. It's the best way to get around!) but as young adults, we were really looking for more noise and activity. Because of the distance from downtown you don't get the ins/outs and hustle and bustle of people coming and going. And because of that, the atmosphere was less social and more quiet. Which is certainly good if you are looking for that! If you want to be somewhere that's walkable to more than some small shops, parks and grocery stores, this may not be the right spot for you. But it's cheap, it's clean and sometimes that's all you need!

Alright, I'll start off by saying that, unfortunately, I don't remember any of the staff member's names. From the moment my friends and I walked in we were greeted by a warm and cheerful staff member. She promptly helped us and explained how the hostel works. After having arrived at 6am in Prague and spending the afternoon in the city, it was nice to be greeted by someone so lovely. We stayed in a 12-bed dorm. The walls and floor are wood so it gave the room a very cozy feeling. Aside from the difficulty in getting to the top bunk, I had no complaints for the room. Every bed has a curtain, an outlet, a small cubby, and a large cubby. Although the hostel is not centrally located, the tram which takes you to the metro is no more than a 5 minute walk away. We did some exploring in the neighborhood and found some cool restaurants. And the hostel if fairly close to Cross Club, the neighborhood's alternative dance club. Every night the staff has some sort of planned activity. The night we arrived they served us free crepes. They also had a movie night, a game night, and most importantly they had a free BBQ night on Saturday. That was definitely the best night. Everyone came out of their rooms to talk and eat the wonderful, free food. It was honestly the best hostel experience I've ever had!

Richard at the front desk is the man! You just have to accept his airs of always being annoyed, really he's just being funny. I think. He puts on a great walking tour--he studied art history in college and if you're interested he'll go into detail on that. Prague has a very rich architectural history, with a ton of different historical styles all mixing together to make up the city. I would definitely suggest you try and get Richard talking about that. He can also tell you some neat stuff about the Holy Roman Empire/Charlemagne if you have some background on that. Very knowledgeable guy. The room, for the price, was great. It was 4 beds, none bunked, with a pretty huge amount of space for a hostel. Lockboxes under the bed. Window looking outwards, very nice decor in the room in general. Two such rooms shared a shower and toilet, I never had to wait on anyone. The downstairs bar is a great way to meet people. Beer is so cheap, there's no reason to not have a liter or two and make some friends before heading out. There's one big common table, which forces group discussions--I approve. They also had some hostel events like an outdoor barbecue, free pancakes (with nutella and jam yay!) at the bar--perfect with a few beers, a beer tasting (great value for the amount you drink and a great intro to Prague).

Had an amazing experience! 6 of my girlfriends and I stayed here for three nights and loved the hostel. The rooms were spacious and clean. The bathrooms are average. Make sure to bring your own soap and shampoo. There were free events such as a bar-b-q.

Good and clean hostel. But check-in took 1 (!!!) hour, because Richard (staff member) first had to tell other guests very looooong how everything works. Also he is very rude and always annoyed!

Super friendly staff, cool vibe, clean, great breakfast! Close to public transit options that connect you to anywhere in the city that you want to know. I only wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy more of what the hostel had to offer!!
