let's clarify my rating as we start. our stay was a 4* (out of 5) based on the cost (low season) vs. the facility itself. we appreciate the idea (private pool for our room albeit connected to other "private pools" (not accessible by other rooms of different grades). but that's where the "good idea" ends. we didn't anticipate (our fault) that all private pools are connected, therefore it's really not totally private. hence, you'd feel self-conscious moving around in that section, lurking outside of others' verandah? (that's not to incl. people on their balcony if rooms on the 2nd floor are occupied!). and the elephant in the room >> or ahem that's actually the mosquitoes as this is after all chiang mai, a city in the forest. you'd have the repellent fired up (and finish your private pool time before it stops) - or re-lit to extend. so much for privacy. at least our bed is comfortable, room is large and well appointed. it shows its age however with some mildew in the shower & the terry is well worn. the public rooms & pool are well decorated but need maintenance as well. location is good and away from the crowd in nimman IF you have your own transportation. staff is good, on par with other thai facilities. so in conclusion, if you can pay a 3* price range and are aware of the trade offs, i would recommend. but if you come in high season and the cost is up then this is not comparable to a 4* range like sofitel or upper wyndham or marriott or hilton. it's a solid 3* or at best 3.5*
